FROM THE OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCES As we delve into the heart of fall, we're excited to share updates, initiatives, and important information that reflect the values we hold dear at Bay Path. This month's core value, "We treat others with respect and compassion," reminds us of the importance of kindness and empathy in our daily interactions. We believe that these values underpin a positive and inclusive work environment, and we're committed to fostering them in everything we do. In this issue, you will learn about how we're implementing EVerify, streamlining employment verification for efficiency and compliance. Our performance evaluations are in progress, with a deadline of November 17th. Our Core Values Committee continues to shape our culture, keeping our values at the forefront. We're dedicated to your well-being and offer complimentary Health and Well-Being initiatives to support your physical and mental health. Mark your calendars for November 6th – a special day to show your Bay Path pride. More details can be found on page 8. Please note that in an effort to streamline our communications and reduce email clutter, HR will be utilizing the Announcement feature in the BPU Community Portal more. IMPORTANT UPDATES E-VERIFY Human Resources is pleased to share that as of October 16, 2023, we implemented the use of E-Verify as part of our onboarding process to ensure compliance with state and federal law. E-Verify is an internet-based system that compares information for the Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) to records available to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration. This does not replace the I-9 process but rather complements the I-9 process. Additionally, by using E-Verify, under new guidance released, we are able to complete document verifications virtually. The purpose of this process is to confirm that an employee's documents are valid and that they are authorized to work in the United States. This process will apply to all new Staff, Faculty, Adjuncts and Work Study Students. Please note that this is for your information only and will require no action other than by the Human Resources team.

CORE VALUE OF THE MONTH We Treat Others with Respect and Compassion. We treat others the way we all want to be treated: with respect, dignity, and professionalism. We value the expertise and contributions brought by all our university community members and strive to understand one another, listen generously, and act with kindness, compassion, and patience.

Core Values Committee Update The Core Values committee has been diligently at work, having already convened for two productive meetings. Our efforts have included scheduling exciting hikes, actively planning focus groups with students, and adorning every classroom with Core Values posters. Additionally, we continue to celebrate our dedicated staff and faculty through the Golden Compass Award. There is more in store, and we will continue to share our upcoming initiatives.
