Proposal for a Market & Learning Centre

LES Manhattan, at the Sara D.Roosevelt Park

The proposal aims to meld market and educational spaces, cultivating an unorthodox, yet elevated environment that serves as a landmark in the LES neighbourhood. It seeks to foster opportunities for local businesses and the community to participate in commerce while revitalising the park. By integrating design principles with horticulture, gardening, and commerce, the space is reimagined as a hub where learning, nourishment, the rethinking of conventional paradigms converge. The project paves the way for a renewed perspective on mindful living and community carving a place for communal play and collective activity. For, and as an icon and space of orientation within the neighbourhood, learning, revelry, and engagment.

Embedded within the park and garden landscape, the initial, primary objective was to redefine the typology of the shed. Considering the context of the market - situated within the park- the core grist of the market design consists of a wide presence with sloping roofs to delineate its prominence as the focal point of celebration. Distinct from this, the learning centre is separated with its own construction through the cantilever, emerging from the market.

Proposal for an Intermodal Station

Rosario, Argentina

The programmatic focus of this project is on designing a new Intermodal Station for the city of Rosario. This transit hub is envisioned to connect local, regional, national, and international commuters using various modes of transportation, including buses, trains, ferries, and cable cars along the Paraná River. Situated at the water’s edge in Rosario. The station is also conceptualised as a catalyst for transforming the city’s waterfront. to foster a sense of integration with the surrounding environment.

To forge a sense of semblance reminiscent of the ranches in Argentina and the adjacent ranch buildings, the design integrates a typology that serves as a potential approach to shaping and designing the ground level. This particular typology then extends in a hexagonal manner upwards, encompassing both mechanical services and structural elements.

The parti adopts a series of bars that house various programme to respond to the surrounding site and its essential functions; with certain spaces extending over the water's edge through cantilevered structures framing views of the surrounding islands. The intentional offsetting of each bar not only connects one space to the next, but also facilitates the incorporation of courtyards at strategic intervals.

Proposal Re-Envisioning the Prospect Park Maintenance Compound

Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY

Envisioned as a pleasure ground, this landscape aims to encapsulate the spirit of the whimsical mystique of gardens in beloved literary works - of getting lost in your favourite imagined places. To render this landscape the grand sounding, "a place I know." Reminiscent of the expanses and memories of fictitious realms such as gardens of TheSecretGarden, and the enlightenment and delight gleaned from landscape paintings akin to Austenian scapes.

Transitional Group Home

Proposal for a Transitional Group Home Complex

Cary, North Carolina

In shifting the typical model of the suburban home, this project proposes a renewed living environment for youths and adults in the foster care system. By establishing an ecosystem of individuals in an unconventional family, the built elements aim to foster a sense varied citizenships. As Cary is transitioning from a rural to urban scape, the new model aims to emulate the typical grouping of suburban homes, introducing a series of homes for people of ages ranging from 6-20. Through the use of local materials and the melding of interior and exterior spaces, the “single home - single backyard - single family unit”, dissolves into a complex of nested objects, activities, and relationships.

Site Plan - Expansion Woodstock

The lot is a mid-block site two blocks west of the major north-south thoroughfare of Prospect Avenue and follows the urban branch model of the Carnegie libraries.

Massing Iterations

The facade aims to be programme responsive. In that, the wrapping and curving nature of the facade translates as a more architectural language internally. Becoming like a root at instances for the stemming of other walls creating aspects of the programme, with the heavier casting of the form being structural.

Design Proposal for a Public Use Bathhouse

Addition at the Betsy Head, Brooklyn N.Y

The precedent study, Alfriston Pool, was the guiding footprint for this design. This design exercise placed much emphasis on how the roof composes and delineates programmatic spaces.

The entrance is marked with a louvered extension from the lower green roofed areas as the porch-like space prefaces the main entrance to the lobby. The flatter roofs hugged by the central ones house the circulation, and externally become walking platforms with roof access to the green roofs.

The roof is a series of repeated triangular panels supported by a skeletal frame of timber beams covering the interior expanse of the roof.

Much of the baths maintain a curtained interior to evoke a sense of isolation from the conditions and scene of the surrounding site. The largest bath, however, opens up around its perimeter to visually concatenate with the exterior pool.

Parametric Wall

Proposal for a Wall Design Addition

Brooklyn, N.Y

A Parametric Wall designed for the lobby at One Hotel in Brooklyn. A design and grasshopper modelling exercise for the third series of a representation course. The addition was meant to enhance the interior architectural scape.

It is meant to function as an aesthetic device to evoke shuttering planes for expanses of open, light-flooded areas within the lobby.
