HOW’S THE MARKET? Hot. And we don’t just mean the weather. We’re seeing a continuation of growth across the Gulf Coast. Homes are being bought and sold in record numbers. Residences are selling quickly, many times they’re selling before they’ve even hit the market. And all area properties are selling closer to their list price, which makes for happy sellers. But what does that really mean? It means that demand for housing is high and there are limited homes to meet the demand. This quarter’s data also shows us that many buyers are preferring to build their dream home rather than wait for it. In certain areas, such as parts of Bay and Gulf Counties, we’ve seen an increase of ‘fixer-upper’ properties as a result of last year’s storm. Price points are very competitive and properties are moving fast - even when they require imagination, renovation and the financial strength to bring their buyers’ vision to life.
