A LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Greetings Bolingbrook Friends, Hope that you enjoyed the holiday season and are ready for 2024 because we have prepared so many opportunities for you! The Bolingbrook Park District is proud to present a full variety of fun programs and services so that everyone has the ability to enjoy their favorite activities as well as explore new interests to enhance their physical and mental well-being throughout the winter and spring months. Perhaps you made a New Year’s resolution to get more active or physically fit. If so, we have you covered. Take advantage of any of these opportunities to reconnect with your favorite activity or try something new. •

There are organized sports and fitness programming, leagues and open play opportunities for all ages and ability levels.

2024 might be your year to try pickleball, dance, swimming, gymnastics, archery or group fitness classes.

You can also jump right in with a variety of free family special events. There's Winterfest on Saturday, February 3 as well as a variety of free monthly family events brought to you courtesy of Meijer.

In addition, we have miles of trails, a variety of playgrounds, athletic fields/courts and picnic shelters, plus a golf course, aquatic, fitness and community centers.

If these opportunities do not pique your interest, there are literally hundreds of additional programs to choose from. Explore the brochure and jump into something that can add life to your years and years to your life. A word of warning: the Park District does not have everything for everyone; however, it does have something fun for everyone! Yours in recreation!

We offer engaging early childhood classes for children starting at ages 13 months and up. The celebrated Bolingbrook Park District preschool program helps children begin to build a solid foundation for future academic success. Early childhood and preschool programs focus on social, emotional, cognitive and physical areas of development while incorporating the wonderful diverse Bolingbrook community.

Education & Camps Two unique Sites... One Common Goal... Create a Learner for Life Bolingbrook Park District preschool programs, offered for children ages 2 ½ to 5 years of age, believes in "Learning through Play." Play is the most important aspect of a child's life. It is their work; where they learn to interact, share and cooperate. Through play, a child is not only building a strong foundation for intellectual development but is also learning how to deal with emotions, decision making and problem solving. Carefully supervised free play is vital and is designed to be safe and appropriate for the age group. Preschool curriculum concepts for the school year include the following areas; pre-writing/ writing, interest, math/science, early literacy, gross motor, music and art creation. The teacher's role is vital throughout the day as a co-discoverer (not merely dispenser) of knowledge and facilitator (not merely manager) of play. Preschoolers in these programs are preparing for success in future learning.

Preschool Programs

Education & Camps

Bolingbrook Park District has a long history of offering high quality dance instruction for all ages. We offer everything from toddler classes to adult classes, an after-school program and even a performance company. All of these programs have one thing in common, quality, ageappropriate instruction. Looking to the future, we will continue this tradition by bringing all of our unique dance programs into one cohesive department with the introduction of the Bolingbrook Park District Dance Academy. The BPD Dance Academy offers professional instruction in all styles of dance for dancers ages 18 months to adults. With our outstanding and passionate teaching staff, our dance academy is one of the best in the state, nationallyrecognized, and progressive in its programming. What you’ll gain from participating in the Bolingbrook Park District Dance Academy: • Confidence • Coordination • Strength • Focus • Teamwork BPD DANCE ACADEMY OPPORTUNITIES Early Childhood Dance Classes (ages 18 months–7 years) Your dancer will gain confidence, coordination, strength and focus all while having fun. Classes are structured to be enjoyable and engaging while incorporating imaginative play, musicality and spatial awareness. We are happy to welcome your dancer to our studio and help them soar into the beautiful world of dance. Youth & Teen Classes (ages 7–18 years) Youth & teen dance classes are structured for ages 7–18 years old. Class offerings range from beginner to advanced levels and are great for dancers looking to progress in a certain skill, or try something new. Our program focuses on teamwork, effort, energy, and measuring success through personal improvement and completion of goals. Our passionate and energetic instructors will provide affordable, highquality instruction to give your dancer the best experience possible.

After School Dance Classes (school-aged kids) The Powerdance Program is in place to offer a fun and safe environment for school-age kids to be introduced to dance with their friends. It takes place right after school and at select schools to make it easier for kids to participate. Some students may want to progress into the more technical aspects of dance and choose to take other Dance Academy classes. Other students may simply want to enjoy a fun and engaging opportunity to dance with their friends. In the end, everyone gets the opportunity to enjoy dance. Adult Dance Classes (ages 18 years & up) Adult classes are geared toward those ages 18 years and older. We offer a variety of participation options from drop-in classes to multi-week class sessions. Classes are offered all year, so you’ll always have the opportunity to come dance. Bring a friend or come by yourself. We accept all dancers no matter the level of experience. BPD Performance Company The BPD Performance Company is a year long, premier performance dance team from the BPD Dance Academy. At this time, participation in the BPD Performance Company is by invitation only to select Mini (5–7) and Junior (8–12) aged dancers. The BPD Performance Company is derived of dancers who have been recognized for being hard-working, dedicated and professional, with great potential to become strong and confident young performers. The BPD Performance Company focuses on choreography and dance technique for a variety of dance styles including Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acro and Tap. Our dancers can be seen performing at events throughout the Bolingbrook Community and surrounding areas all year long. Our Mission: To teach our dancers the value of commitment, hard work, integrity, leadership, self-confidence, positive attitudes and a love for dance in order to help dancers realize and reach their highest potential as performance and competitive dancers.

Fine Arts BALLROOM DANCE Ages 18 years & up Rhythm—If you’ve ever watched ballroom dancers or seen, “Dancing with the Stars,” you’ve probably have seen and heard of the playful and fun “Cha-Cha” along with the flirtatious and romantic “Rumba.” Our ballroom rhythm program offers both of those beautiful dances. From exciting up-beat Cha-Cha music to the slower Rumba, these dances can be incorporated into various styles of music. Although it is traditionally danced to up-beat/fast music, today it is common to dance the Cha Cha and Rumba to many current styles of today’s music which means it can be danced in many places and at events! Swing—Swing is a dance that people often think is difficult, but is actually fun and simple to learn! You can time travel your way back to the 80’s with this dance or find yourself enjoying it to today’s artists such as Olly Murs or Meghan Trainor. This style is very easy to learn and gives you the opportunity to show off at many live music outlets. Salsa/Bachata—Our Latin program offers a great opportunity to grasp different Latin rhythms and have room to grow with no limits. We offer a set of dances in this beginners course which includes the two most popular social Latin dances, bachata and salsa! Salsa allows you to move your body to fun, up-tempo Latin music. While bachata brings a much slower romantic vibe into the setting. There are plenty of opportunities to use these skills as Chicago is known to have some of the biggest Latin dance bars and clubs. The perfect program for a date night or for couples to enjoy a new hobby.
