Small School. Big Impact.

I’ve tried so many new things here… I never thought I’d be a lead in the school play!

Small School. Big Impact.

WELCOME TO RGS SURREY HILLS.
Whether already a highflier or ready for take-off, at RGS Surrey Hills we will help your child be happy, to believe in themselves and to thrive.
We are a distinctive, smaller and inclusive school where every teacher will know your child. At every step they take, every corner they turn, your child will be known. More than that, they will be understood, noticed, encouraged and supported.
We are proud to be recognised among the UK’s leading independent schools through membership of HMC. As a founding member of the Round Square global network, our education is based on six key pillars which inspire excellent results and give our pupils extra opportunities to grow as global citizens, gaining confidence, creativity and character through opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom, preparing them for life beyond school.
Our school nurtures academic ambition and offers unique, flexible and enabling curriculum pathways that include a 3-year GCSE programme followed by the choice between both IB and A Levels – no other local school offers all of these avenues.
Children enjoy the beauty of the Surrey Hills in this warm, supportive community. Life is transformational as we help each child to grow into caring, confident, resilient young people who are ready for the world.
We have a confident, secure and winning future ahead, having recently joined the highly successful Reigate Grammar Family of Schools. This brings so many educational benefits to the RGS Surrey Hills pupils. We combine the warmth of a small school with the opportunities of a global network.
I would be delighted to welcome your family as part of our big and exciting future at RGS Surrey Hills.

Hayley Robinson | Headmistress
Why Choose Us?
As a member of the RGS Surrey Hills family, you will experience great opportunities, academic ambition, fantastic outcomes, good fun and feel genuinely nurtured.
What does that mean? How are we just a little bit different?
• Small enough to know every child, big enough to open the world to them - every pupil is noticed, nurtured, and stretched through exceptional opportunities that support outstanding personal growth.
• Strong academic ambition - recent record-breaking exam results show sustained increases in top grades, Russell Group university destinations, competitive degree apprenticeships and more.
• Personalised learning - delivered at the right pace and in the right way for each child, in a close-knit community where it is cool to love learning.
• A best-in-class curriculum – a three-year GCSE pathway and both IB and A level Sixth Form programmes, the only local school to offer both.
• Inclusivity and late developer support - we specialise in helping children and nurturing them to discover their confidence and achieve their best. In our care, every child can become a high-flier.
• Excellent co-curricular opportunities - from elite football to performing arts and outdoor adventure.
• Boarding - flexi-boarding for UK families can mean the best of both worlds and an extended programme of opportunities at a boarding school can be better than any day school could offer.
• Global outlook - it is rare for a local school to have such an embedded international outlook, such invaluable global opportunities and networks for pupils, now and after school.
• Space to grow and glow - daily natural beauty in the stunning Surrey Hills – Just five minutes from Dorking and Leatherhead stations, blending countryside calm with excellent transport links and a short train journey from London.
• A secure future – as part of the Reigate Grammar School Family, one of the UK’s top-performing schools.
Children join us and learn how to climb the highest peaks, whilst building lifelong friendships and powerful memories along the way.

It feels like a family, one where the staff really know your child.
PARENT OF YEAR 7 PUPIL

My teachers really know me. They see what I can do before I even realise it myself.
YEAR 9 PUPIL

Big Heart. We Care.
EVERY CHILD KNOWN, EVERY FAMILY SUPPORTED.
Every child is unique and develops differently. Our teachers notice, nurture and stretch each and every child to achieve their full potential.
Pastoral care is woven into everything we do, from a caring tutor every day to our dedicated Wellbeing Hub. We work in partnership with families all the time, to help each child’s progress, confidence, and wellbeing.
For busy families, our wraparound care provides flexibility and peace of mind. Day pupils can arrive from 7.20am and stay after lessons for tea, homework, or activities until parents collect them in the early evening. This warm, structured environment supports children academically, socially, and emotionally, while giving families the reassurance they need.
A wide co-curricular programme rich in sport, dance, drama, art and DT, music, science, outdoor education, and leadership opportunities helps pupils develop friendships, explore passions, and build the resilience, independence and self-belief to succeed - in school and beyond.
At RGS Surrey Hills, every pupil is understood and supported to thrive. Our smaller class sizes, strong pastoral ethos, and close relationships between staff and pupils mean we truly understand how each child learns.
Every child thrives with praise, patience and excellent teaching. We recognise that children develop at different times and in different ways, so our focus is on nurturing confidence and selfbelief while also providing the right level of challenge to help each pupil achieve their best.
Our staff are here for all pupils so that every child finds their strengths.

Big Thinkers.
ACADEMIC AMBITION IS MATCHED BY DELIVERY AT RGS
SURREY HILLS.
Our three-year GCSE programme is a distinctive marker of excellence. It gives pupils three years to do what other schools would have them do in two years. Our approach is kinder but more enabling, bringing less stress but higher attainment. We allow pupils to learn far more than the restricted exam board curriculum so that they are better placed for Sixth Form study.
In the Sixth Form, pupils can choose from a rich blend of A Levels or the International Baccalaureate, supported by co-curricular opportunities, transformative leadership roles, and adventure that extends learning beyond the classroom.
Our Industry Insights Lecture Series, along with the Medics and Engineers Programmes, Model United Nations, and competitions both in and beyond school, are examples of how we balance depth and breadth to ensure every pupil leaves us fulfilled and ready for life’s next stage.
OUR PUPILS GET GREAT OUTCOMES, BETTER EVERY YEAR.
Every pupil benefits from personalised teaching, academic challenge, small classes and the most effective support they need to achieve their personal best.
Our Learning Development Centre champions ambitious inclusivity. Specialist teachers provide tailored support to help pupils build confidence, develop strategies, and overcome challenges. This works hand in hand with classroom teaching so that all hurdles are manageable.
At RGS Surrey Hills, there are no glass ceilingsevery Pupil is encouraged to rise further than they imagined.

Now, my son genuinely looks forward to coming to school each day. The change has been truly transformational for him. We are so grateful for the support, care and encouragement shown by every member of staff to both him and our family.

YEAR 11 PUPIL
Big Connections.
INDEPENDENCE AND BELONGING IN EQUAL MEASURE.
Boarding at RGS Surrey Hills offers pupils the chance to grow in independence while feeling part of a close, supportive community. In the younger years, almost all pupils are day pupils. As they progress towards the Sixth Form the school community is hugely enriched by new friends. Approximately one quarter of our pupils join as international boarders, usually for GCSE, A Level or IB, bringing exciting tales to tell of their lives from all round the world. This is a distinctive local opportunity that brings so many benefits as we prepare today’s children to be tomorrow’s global citizens.
Life in a school with boarding brings a rich programme of activities and opportunities for everyone. Evenings and weekends are filled with shared meals, trips, sport, music, and relaxed time with friends. Many day pupils join in too, creating a strong sense of belonging and fun for all.
Our day and boarding pupils learn with and from one another, forming lifelong friendships and memories.

Being a weekly boarder from London is like having one big sleepover with my friends during the week. We do our homework together so at the weekend I can just relax and spend time with my family.
WEEKLY BOARDING PUPIL

The school helped me believe I could aim higher than I ever thought possible.
