OUR E ARLY H ISTORY The club began life in an old wooden cricket pavilion in 1947 on the site of what is now Pitsea Market. A move to Gun Meadow, Pitsea saw the purchase of a prefabricated building which was used as changing rooms.

The building of the new A13 saw the compulsory purchase of the ground and the club's move to its current home at Crown Avenue, Pitsea. The ground was purchased from Basildon Development Corporation along with a prefabricated building which is still present at the Len Salmon Stadium.

O UR R ECENT H ISTORY In season 2015/16 Bowers won the Essex Senior League, made the quarter finals of the Essex Senior Cup and reached the semi-finals of the FA Vase.

The season 2018/19 saw Bowers reach the Isthmian Premier as we finished the campaign with 92 points, 29 wins, 5 draws and 4 losses with a very healthy 71 goal difference.

Season 2019/20 saw our first ever season in the top flight and were sitting 14th when the season was abruptly ended due to the Covid19

Good evening and please join me in welcoming the management, players and supporters of Brightlingsea.

It was one of those games on Saturday where everything went for us.

They don’t come around too often so I hope you all enjoyed it.

We are two games into the league season so it’s important everyone keeps their feet on the ground and understands there are going to be tough moments to come. It’s an unforgiving division so we need to prepare ourselves mentally for the grind of 42 games.

Our target is 50 points so we have a big 44 still to get.

In these uncertain times I think we should recognise we are in a privileged position being able to have supporters join us. In the division directly above us fans are prohibited from attending. With that in mind I think we have a big responsibility to the wider non league community to act responsibly and respect the measures put in place to keep us all safe. We don’t want to take one

step forward and then three steps back.

As you will have noticed we have had to ask the players to refrain from coming and shaking hands but please do know how valued our band of merry men, women and children are.

Billy Knott scored twice and set up three more goals as Bowers & Pitsea ran riot with a 7-0 victory over Leatherhead.

The hosts made the best possible start as Knott curled Bowers into a 10th minute lead with a beautiful free kick from 20 yards.

Leatherhead looked for an instant response and came within inches of equalising as Ryan Huckle saw his 25yard strike cannon off the crossbar.

The visitors continued to press on and Joe Leslie found himself denied twice

by Lamar Johnson, firstly through a full length save before going one better to palm away a swerving strike.

Bowers weathered the storm and doubled their advantage through Dan Trendall. Max Cornhill released Quentin Monville down the right, and he squared the ball to Trendall who to a touch to compose himself before lifting the ball over Oualah.

Into the second half and whilst it was Leatherhead who needed to respond, it was Bowers who flew out of the

traps. Just five minutes in and Bowers had their third with Dan Trendall notching his second of the game. After being released by Cornhill, Trendall surged away from Tanners defender Seager before once more delicately chipping the ball over Oualah and into the net.

It was four-nil just two minutes later as Cornhill rose highest to head home Knott’s free kick before Knott then got his second of the afternoon, twisting and turning in the area before firing under Oualah.

Bowers sixth was arguably the best of the afternoon as Monville unleashed a venomous left footed strike into the top corner, having been set up by Knott.

It was to be seven heaven for the hosts as Suaibo Balde scored his first goal for Bowers & Pitsea, smashing home at the front post after some fantastic footwork, to round off the scoring.

I thought we played really well against Leatherhead, especially after coming off the disappointment of getting knocked out of the FA cup.

The boys all around the pitch where fantastic.

That’s the level of performance we have got to maintain throughout the season if we want to be challenging for the top 6 spots.

We now go into the Brightlingsea game with loads of confidence and I am looking forward to seeing the boys attempt to replicate the same performance levels from Saturday’s game.

Obviously going into the game we knewthat they would be a tough team - they like to press really high - so we knew we had to be better than we were on Tuesday night. All the boys worked hard and from there the goals kept going in.

I thought after last season I need to shoot more often so I’ve been shooting and shooting and they’ve been going in for me.

(On the goal) To be fair Bill popped it in to me and I said ‘one two’ but there was no chance he was getting that ball back. I just literally turned round the corner and smashed it with my weaker foot.

SUPPORTER’S VIEW The players made a fantastic response to their exit from the FA Cup - scoring 7 goals and keeping a clean sheet against Leatherhead!

Everything just seemed to go in our favour on Saturday, a 70 win over Leatherhead securing 6 points from 6. We achieved a similar result last season - coincidentally against tonight's opponents Brightlingsea. They will come here in the hope that we are still celebrating Saturday's game so it's important we don't show any complacency.

It was the start of the season for many of the Bowers youth sides. There's been a lot of work by many people behind the scenes to further improve the youth section and we are

starting to see the rewards of that - 16 year old George Wind playing the full 90 minutes on Saturday and was one of the standout players. Best of luck to our EJA, Southend league and Mini Soccer sides for the season.

Brightlingsea have strengthened over the offseason under their new manager so will be a tough team to play against.

Unfortunately there is no game this Saturday as Bognor Regis are playing in the Cup so tonight will be our only game of the week. Let's hope for another 3 points.

TODAY’S OPPONENTS Brightlingsea United FC and Regent Park Rangers FC amalgamated at the start of 2005/06 season to become Brightlingsea Regent Football Club.

They also reached the Quarter-final of the Essex Senior Cup before losing to League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 2012/13 season was During this time the squad successful for many and club have continued to reasons. The team was formed by community coaches Alan Warner and Mark Herbert with players all coming from from the Bowers in the community development programme.

Most have trained together for quite some time and even though the team had to be put together quickly due to the Covid shutdown, most of the boys were already used to playing in a group. We have started our games together very well winning 7 and scoring 20 goals and only loosing 1 game which was to an academy team.

Our focus is on player development with the view that in turn their development will lead to good results! Win or loose the boys have a big smile on their faces and are a wonderful bunch who try to play football the right way! I would also just like to say how much I appreciate the trust shown in me from all the boys parents, we love what we do and are so happy you are on board for the ride!

MEET THE TEAM U7 REDS LIONS HUDSON HALL Number 1 on the pitch and number 1 in our hearts!, Hudson has shown incredible development over the time we have had him. One of the nicest kids you’ll ever meet and has made some pretty good saves too!

HARRY WARNER “Jack of all trades ‘ Harry was the first player signed for the team( His dads the manager!) and can play in all positions. Has a great engine and a genuine nice kid to be around. Always encourages his teammates and chips in with the odd goal!

RONNIE BROWN Bowers U7’s answer to Razor Neil Ruddok, Big Ron, AKA Ron Diesel is one of the best tacklers if the ball your likely to see. Works harder than anyone consistently and has scored a few goals too including one from his own half!

MAX HERBERT Twinkle toes Max was the second player signed for the team (his dad is assistant coach!). Very skill full and loves a step over ( even in-front if his own goal- careful Max!) has great feet and loves to take a player on to great success .

DEVON SKEET It’s crazy to think Devon has only just started playing football such is his ability. When he’s not on holiday he is a valued member of our squad and keeps running and running and running and running.......

RONNIE PALMER A great young man who completes the 2 Ronnies. Does seem to go for the biggest player on the pitch and normally comes out on top. Great with his team mates and is improving his game all the time to become a well rounded player OSCAR FADROWSKI One of the best players your likely to see at this age, Oscar has an eye for goal like No other and has scored 16 in just 5 games. Truly has it all and will go far in the game . Sets a good standard for the other boys and understands the game well.

The reds continued their Eastern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division campaign Sunday with another tough away trip to Peterborough Northern Star Ladies FC. Injuries not helping the reds as we fell to a 4-1 defeat against a well drilled PNS side. The only goal of the game came from debutant, Cristel Seed midway through the first half.

The ladies next game is on Sunday 4th October when they will welcome Harlow Town Ladies FC in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round at the Len Salmon Stadium. 3pm Kick Off. The Under 15’s welcomed Billericay Town Girls FC on Sunday in the ECGFL and ran out comfortable 8-3 winners. The reds came from 2-0 down and scored goals courtesy from Trinity Daye (4), Kathleen Shanahan (2), Naomi Sheffield and Olivia Harris.

Next Up for the Under 15’s is a home clash against Aveley Girls FC at Woodlands School.

With no league game, the Under 18’s welcomed Hullbridge Ladies FC in a friendly and ran out comfortable 8-2 victors. Goals coming from Mia Lempiere (3), Emma Clark (2), Emily Clarke, Isabelle Nind and Brogan Cavaner.

Next Up for the Under 18’s is a home clash against Hashtag United FC at Selex Sports Ground.
