Welcome from the Ashworth Family Welcome to the 14th Annual Ashworth Farm & Ranch Bull Sale.

As we all know the one constant to a degree in the cattle business is change and things have no doubt changed from one year ago but profitability is still very much on the table as most producers have received the third highest prices for their calves that they have ever received and with things stabilizing after on upswing from fall, there is once again optimism in the industry.

For our 14th Annual Sale we have put together a solid and consistent set of bulls for your appraisal with a small increase in catalogued numbers. Our Red bulls will be highlighted once again by our Authority and Mountain sons as well as strong sire group of Big Time, Integritys, Roars and Westerns. A special single lot is the only Red Raven Son that is exceptional and only one Red Rock son that will be a calving specialist. We will once again have some Justice sons for our Simm/Angus offering. Our Black offering will highlight the First Riddler sons for us to sell as well as the first Ravens. Strong sons of Integrity, Vision and Sterling Silver will round out the bulk of the remaining Black offering. As we have done in other years, all bulls 12 months and older will be semen tested with all others scrotal measured and tested at a later date. All bulls are on a full herd health program and will also be double vaccinated with Fusoguard for foot rot. Our bulls always sell fully guaranteed and buyers can rest assured that they will be looked after should a problem ever occur. We appreciate the fact that you have come to us to purchase your bulls and realize we are not the only place you can do this.

For 2017 we will once again be working with the sale staff from Bouchard Livestock. Our Auctioneer for the day will once again be Jerry Kaneswischer with Dennis Ericson, Ryan Dorran and Nate Marin looking after ring duty. Representing Bohrson Marketing will be Scott Bohrson and Darryl Snider. Bonnie Thompson of Alameda Agencies will once again be available for your insurance needs. I am not old enough or probably wise enough to know with absolute certainty where the cattle business is headed in the long term but I do know that the beef industry is manned by some of the most resilient and resourceful producers that you will find in any industry anywhere and that we are proud and honored to be able to work with some of them as customers and friends. BULL DEVELOPMENT & DELIVERY Ashworth Farm & Ranch will keep bulls free of charge until May 1.

Buyers need to insure the bulls while being cared for by the consignors.

Delivery Option A: Bulls can be picked up at Ashworth’s on sale day and a $100 discount will be deducted from purchase price.

Delivery Option B: At the buyer’s option and risk, the bulls can be returned to the consignor’s farm and delivered anywhere in Western Canada at no charge to central locations. We will do our utmost to deliver them right to your yard.

Delivery Option C: Bulls can stay at the farm and be picked up any time at the buyer’s convenience.

FULLY GUARANTEED All bulls are guaranteed to be satisfactory breeders in accordance with CSA guidelines. Should a problem occur barring physical injury or mismanagement, a bull of equal value will be provided or a credit will be issued towards the purchase of another bull. We guarantee you will have a bull to service your cows.

EPD EXPLANATION EPD’s are “Expected Progeny Differences”. They are a useful tool in selection. EPD’s incorporate theindividual animal with its averaged ancestry performance. EPD’s do not compare across cattle breeds, they are individuall based per breed. EPD’s indicate a probable variance above or below breed average for that trait for a given bull’s progeny. Use them for guidance in the direction you want your herd to go.

Should the purchaser fail to settle for his purchase, Bouchard Livestock Ltd reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage, either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale, together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. The owners, Bouchard Livestock Ltd. and sale staff have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment and/or who has not made prior credit arrangements prior to the sale with the owners and/or Sale Management.

BID - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder.

DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.

PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

ANNOUNCEMENTS from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - The proper Registration of Recordation paper, as the case may be, will be duly transferred and furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement has been made.

SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale, but Sale Management or Seller assumes no risk. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instruction when making settlement.

GUARANTEE - All animals will carry standard breeding guarantee as specified by the applicable Canadian breed Association. At no time shall the seller’s liability exceed the purchased price of the animal.

EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE - In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.In the cases of bulls, they are guaranteed to breed naturally according to applicable Canadian breed Association guarantee, but no guarantee is given that semen from any bull will freeze.

HEALTH - It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Bouchard Livestock Ltd assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale.

ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sale Management, auctioneer, or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both.Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and the terms and conditions of this sale do not cover obligations of the two parties connected thereto.

BOUCHARD LIVESTOCK LTD IS AGENT ONLY - It is clearly understood that Bouchard Livestock Ltd acts only as agent between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure by either party to live up to his or her obligations. Bouchard Livestock Ltd does not assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of monies by either parties, and in exceptional case, any legal action will be between buyer and seller.

Bouchard Livestock Ltd has no ownership of the facility and assumes no responsibility for the operation of said facility.
