DESIGN PROCESS

INSPIRATION CONCEPT OF MOVEMENT THAT SPORTS REQUIRE

SKETCH

1ST FLOOR PLAN

This project is a sports complex in the United States on a 3-hectare plot of land. The construction rises 3 meters from the ground, allowing for covered and outdoor parking areas.

With this architectural gesture, stairs are created, creating a hierarchy at the entrance, and bleachers at the rear serve as seating for the semi-Olympic pool, allowing for the use of the outdoor areas. The construction cost is reduced by having the parking area beneath the construction but at ground level since no basement is required.

RELOCATION AND RENOVATION PLAN

This project was one of the projects I worked on. I participated in the design and project management. It was a relocation and renovation of Administration Offices and Pharmacy for better functionality and circulation in the Hospital.

NEAR THE ALEWIFE STATION

This project is a recreational center located in Magazine Beach Park in Cambridge Massachusetts. The design is inspired by the community coming together represented by having three different parts of the design connected. The facade represents a person giving a hug, the facade is also opening up to the Charles River to have water, trees, and landscape views from the inside and outside, allowing people to have a sense of openness and visual connections with other persons and activities happening in the recreational center.

The concept of Biophilia is used in the design by having big windows with water and vegetation views in most of its spaces and incorporating vegetation in the outdoors occupiable steps which provides a park feeling and sense to the design.

The site is an open park bordering the Charles River with panoramic views, the openness of the site was a challenge, the first design decision was what sides to block and sides to open up to, then understanding the circulation from the outside in and the inside distribution.

The Tilted walls and ceilings are useful not only for the facade aesthetic but also for passive sustainable systems, like rainwater harvesting.

ADU COMPETITION TREE HOUSE

The 575 sq. feet ADU is located in one side of backyard of the lot that allows it to have an “address” to have a visual and circulation connection to the street which also allows visitors to see the ADU from the street. The design shape allows the Tree located in the back- yard to work as a privacy provider both for the existing house and ADU.

The design shape also incorporates Biophilic design, which is achieved by the a big glass wall and glass ceiling that create a special feature in the living room in which the users can have a visual connection to the tree and nature, and feel that they are standing or / and sitting underneath the tree while being inside the ADU That concept and feature responds to the context, the ADU project is located in New Jersey’s which usually has a cold weather.

The ADU main experience is to feel connected to nature with out the need to go outside playing with the concepts of open and close spaces.
