HOW DO WE FIX A DEADLY CONDITION—BEFORE BIRTH?

Denver blazed a trail for other children and families before she was even born. After she was diagnosed in utero with a rare blood vessel abnormality inside her brain, Denver became the first child in North America to successfully undergo a groundbreaking procedure to treat the life-threatening condition while still in her mother’s womb. Today, she is thriving with her family at home in Louisiana.

GENE THERAPY BREAKTHROUGH FOR CONNER

Six-year-old Conner was the first patient in the world to get a new FDA-approved gene therapy based on studies led by our experts. He was diagnosed with cerebral adrenoleukodystrophy (CALD), a devastating disease that causes kids to grow blind, deaf and lose muscle control. Without care, they experience severe neurologic deterioration and many pass away. This lifesaving treatment corrected the genetic mutation and protected the nerve cells in Conner’s brain. Today, he is thriving and kids like him get a second chance at life.

There’s no better way to support our communities than lending a helping hand to the littlest among us. They are our future. You can see associate engagement lift as they help fundraise for the kids. It’s a win-win!”

CAUSE MARKETING

You inspire loyalty

Seventy-one percent of employees think it’s important to work at a company that gives back through philanthropy and volunteering.* Showing shoppers you care about the community you serve—not just the bottom line—helps make them repeat customers.

Shaw’s and Star Market | Seasonal register campaign

Since 2015, Shaw’s and Star Market have given $9.9 million through register campaigns, grants and event sponsorships. Associates ask customers to “Give a Smile” to kids at the hospital by donating points and dollars at checkout. To battle food insecurity and celebrate a recent grant, employees volunteered at Boston Children’s Family Food Connections food pantry.

NRG | Percentage of proceeds program

NRG has raised nearly $2 million and sponsored many events over the last seven years. Their Choose to Give program lets customers power care for kids at Boston Children's by choosing a special service plan at no additional cost to them. NRG donates $50 upon enrollment plus ongoing contributions of 1% of the supply portion of their bill each year.

Walmart and Sam’s Club | Children's Miracle Network member

National brands join the Children's Miracle Network to support the best pediatric hospitals in their region. Walmart and Sam’s Club have motivated giving at 60 Massachusetts and New Hampshire locations for over 30 years. Their annual register campaign, community grants and associate-driven events like bake sales, canister collections and car shows, have contributed over $19 million of vital funds to support kids at Boston Children’s.
