Ekim ayında gerçekleştirilen 11 Grup 1 yarışla birlikte, Türkiye’de bu senenin bütün G1 yarışları koşulmuş oldu. Fransa’da 24 Ekim’deki son G1 yarış Prix Royal-Oak ve 23 Ekim’de İngiltere’deki The Vertem Futurity Trophy ile şampiyon atlar bu ülkelerde de tatile girdi. Gelecek sene için şimdiden yarış planlamaları yapılırken, bir kısmı da genlerindeki özellikleri en kısa sürede yavrularına aktarabilmek amacıyla, yetiştiricilik tarafına geçiş yapacaklar.

Bu sayımızda ise Türkiye Jokey Kulübü Başkanı Sn. Serdal Adalı ile 71 yıllık TJK tarihini, dünü, bugünü ve yarını konuştuk. G1 races come to an end in the 2021 season in October with the last 11 G1 contests.

Champion horses ended their season with the last G1 contest, the Prix Royal-Oak, in France on 24 October, and with the Vertem Futurity Trophy in England on 23 October. While racing plans are already being made for the next year, some of them will switch to the breeding area in order to transfer the abilities in their genes to their offspring as soon as possible.

THE JOCKEY CLUB OF TURKEY STAKES WAS RUN IN FRANCE

2007 yılından bu yana French Racing and Breeding Comitee (FRBC)/France Galop ile Türkiye Jokey Kulübü (TJK) arasında karşılıklı olarak düzenlenen koşulardan G3 Prix Thomas Byron/Jockey Club de Turquie, 1 Ekim Cuma günü, Paris, Saint-Cloud Hipodromu’nda gerçekleştirildi.

G3 Prix Thomas Byron/Jockey Club de Turquie, one of the races held mutually between the French Racing and Breeding Committee (FRBC)/France Galop and the Jockey Club of Turkey (TJK) since 2007, was held on Friday, October 1, at Paris, Saint-Cloud Racecourse.

İki yaşlı tayların mücadele ettiği, çim pistteki 1600 metre mesafeli koşuya 5 safkan katıldı ve Maxime Guyon’un bindiği Dreamflight (Frankel-Dream Peace/Dansili), 1:45.02’lik derecesiyle kazanan isim oldu. Bu koşuyu 2011 yılında kazanan Dabirsim’in (Hat Trick-Rumoned/Royal Academy) yavrusu Making Moovies (Dabirsim-Grace Lady/Muhtathir) ikincilikte, Godolphin Ekürisi’nin favori gösterilen safkanı Chancellery (Medaglia d'Oro-Shelbysmile/Smart Strike) boyun farkıyla üçüncülükte kaldı. Şans verilen diğer isim, Ağa Han Ekürisi’nin tayı Liyann (La Havre-Lidiyana/ Motivator) ise düzlüğe savrularak çıktığı için tüm şansını yitirdi.

Kazanan safkanın antrenörlüğünü Andre Fabre yapıyor. 8 Ağustos günü Deauville’de üçüncü kaldığı koşuyla yarış yaşamına başlayan Dreamflight, 10 Eylül günü Saint-Cloud’da katıldığı koşuyu ikinci tamamladıktan sonra, 3. startında ilk birinciliğine imza attı.

5 2-year-olds competed in the 1600-meter turf contest and Dreamflight (Frankel-Dream Peace/Dansili) won the race under Maxime Guyon, clocking 1:45.02. Making Moovies (Dabirsim-Grace Lady/Muhtathir), the offspring of Dabirsim (Hat Trick-Rumoned/Royal Academy), who won this race back in 2011, finished 2nd and the favorite of the race, Godolphin’s Chancellery (Medaglia d'Oro-Shelbysmile/Smart Strike) held for 3rd by a neck to 2nd. One of the favorites, Aga Khan’s Liyann (Le Havre-Lidiyana/Motivator) lost his chance as he drifted wide at the last bend. Andre Fabre is the trainer of the winning colt. Dreamflight made his debut on 8 August at Deaville and finished 3rd, and finished 2nd in his 2nd outing on 10 September at Saint-Cloud. Thus, he reached his first victory in his 3rd attempt.

Prens Bandar, Saudi Cup mitinginin uluslararası alan ve kendi yarışçılıklarındaki olumlu etkisini vurgulayarak: “Bunlar uluslararası yarış camiasının desteği olmadan gerçekleşmezdi.

Suudi Arabistan Jokey Kulübü adına, sektördeki herkese Saudi Cup mitingini benimsedikleri için teşekkür etmek istiyorum.” dedi. Mitinge eklenen ve ikramiyesi arttırılan koşular hakkında da bilgi veren Prens, toplam ikramiyenin bu yıl 35,1 milyon dolara yükseltildiğini açıkladı.

SUUDİ ARABİSTAN VE BAHREYN YARIŞÇILIĞI YÜKSELİYOR… Uluslararası At Yarışı Otoriteleri Federasyonu (IFHA) 4 Ekim Pazartesi günü Paris’te yaptığı Yürütme Kurulu toplantısında, Katalog Standartları (ICS) sıralamasının III. bölümünde yer alan Suudi Arabistan ile Bahreyn gösterdikleri gelişmeler nedeniyle II. bölüme yükseltti. Suudi Arabistan'daki 6 ve Bahreyn’deki 1 koşu ICS’nin I. bölümüne alınarak grup koşu statüsüne, ayrıca Bahreyn’deki 3 koşu da II. bölüme Listed olarak alındı.

On Thursday, October 28, Saudi Arabian Jockey Club (JCSA) President HRH Prince Bandar Bin Khalid Al Faisal and JCSA's Strategy and International Racing Director Tom Ryan started the 2022 Saudi Cup journey in a series of press conferences held via video link from King Abdulaziz Racecourse.

Prince Bandar emphasized the positive impact of the Saudi Cup meeting on the international arena and their racing: “This would not have happened without the support of the international racing community. On behalf of the Saudi Arabian Jockey Club, I want to thank everyone in the industry for embracing the Saudi Cup meeting.” he said.

Prince, who also gave information about the races that were added to the meeting and the prize money was increased, announced that the total prize money was increased to 35.1 million dollars this year.

The richest race of the world, the $20 million Saudi Cup, gained international prestige by being upgraded to Group 1 in its third year, while 5 races in the same meeting were upgraded to Group 3. The $1,5 million Neom Turf Cup, 1351 Turf Sprint, Saudi Derby and Riyadh Dirt Sprint, and the $2,5 million Red Sea Turf Handicap were the races that upgraded to Group 3. The $2 million Obaiya Arabian Classic was also approved as a G2 Race last year by the International Arabian Horse Racing Federation (IFAHR).

Dubai Racing Club, 2022 uluslararası yarış sezonunda, Şeyh Muhammed’in öneri ve destekleriyle önemli yeniliklere imza atacaklarını duyurdu. 13 Ocak Perşembe günü başlayacak olan 2022 Dubai World Cup Karnavalı, 5 Mart Süper Cumartesi programı ile sona erecek. 8 yarış günü süren karnavalın ardından, uluslararası sezonun kapanışı bu yıl 26.’sı koşulacak G1 Dubai World Cup ile 26 Mart Cumartesi gecesi gerçekleşecek. Dubai Racing Club’ın açıklamasında, bazı koşuların ikramiyelerinin artırılıp, programa yeni koşular da ekleneceği belirtiliyor. Böylece uluslararası takvimde yer alan koşuların ikramiye tutarı, 40 milyon dolara ulaşacak.

Orta Doğu’da ilk kez gerçekleştirilecek bu organizasyonda 69 tayın satışı planlanıyor. Satış hem yerel hem de uluslararası alıcıların katılımını sağlamak amacıyla 2022 Dubai World Cup’tan iki gün önce düzenleniyor.

Satıştan 10 gün önce Dubai’de karantinaya alınacak safkanlar, yeni sahiplerine tüm veteriner kontrolleri tamamlanarak teslim edilecekler. Satışa sunulan safkanlar, 23 Mart Çarşamba günü Meydan Hipodromu kum pistinde galop yapacaklar.

Fasig-Tipton sold yearlings and foals in three different organizations held on different days in October. The first organization was held in Maryland, the region with the highest number of 2-year-old races in North America, between October 5-7. 381 yearlings were sold for $11,269,400. 3 male horses managed to exceed the $200,000 threshold. Mendelssohn’s (Scat Daddy-Leslie’s Lady/Tricky Creek) first crops will run next year, and his 2 colts were the most expensive assets of the sales with $235,000 and $230,000. His colt out of Malibu Moon mare Grace Is Gone was sold for $235,000 and his colt out of Malibu Moon mare Taha’s Moon was sold for $230,000. It’s noteworthy that both big purchases’ dams were Malibu Moon mares. The Saratoga sales, which have been held since 2012 and attracted a lot of attention with their broodmare and foal sales, was held on October 18 and 163 horses were sold for a total of 3,657,800 dollars. Tattersalls brought 2627 horses together with their new owners in sales organized on 13 different days in October. 1580 yearlings were sold on 9 seperate days, between 5-16 October.

Buyers got these horses by paying 185,291,610 Guineas. The highest prices and averages were obtained for the sale of 386 horses in catalog 1. The average price of the 375 horses sold between 5-7 October was 230,317 Guineas and 5 yearlings exceeded the 1 million Guineas threshold. Godolphin’s 1,5 million Guineas purchase, the filly (Sea The Stars-Best Terms/Exceed And Excel) is a full sister to Listed race winner and Group Race competitor Star Terms.

The 1,25 million Guineas filly, (Dubawi-Walderleche/Monsun) is a half-sister to 2019’s older horse of the year in Europe and France, Waldgeist. The colt, (Sea The Stars-So Mi Dar/Dubawi) was sold for 1,2 million Guineas, the filly (Galileo-Antherm Alexander/Starspangledbanner) and the colt (Kingman-Turret Rocks/ Fasnet Rock) both were sold for 1,1 million Guineas.

Almanya’nın Baden-Baden şehrinde gerçekleştirilen satışlarda, 2 gün boyunca 312 at satışa sunuldu. Katalogda bulunan 63 kısrak ’tan, 4’ü satıştan çekilip, 7’si rezerve fiyata ulaşamazken, 52 kısrak el değiştirdi. Türk yetiştiricilerden Fedai Kahraman 3, Suat Demiral, Esra Atman ve Duygu Fatura da birer gebe kısrak alarak Türkiye’ye gönderilmek üzere işlemleri başlattılar.

Ayrıca Kahraman Ekürisi 2020 doğumlu 3 tay alarak, Antrenör Ertürk Kurdu’ya teslim etti. Son 4 senede 2 Gazi şampiyonu çıkaran Kahraman Ekürisi böylece Almanya’da da yarışçılık faaliyetlerine başlamış oldu.

While 4 of the 63 mares in the catalog were withdrawn from the sale and 7 of them could not reach the reserved price, 52 mares changed hands. Turkish Breeders also purchased pregnant mares from the sales, Fedai Kahraman bought 3 mares, Suat Demiral, Esra Atman and Duygu Fatura 1 each and started the procedures to send these mares to Turkey. In addition, the Kahraman Stable purchased 3 yearlings and delivered them to Trainer Ertürk Kurdu. After winning the Turkish Derby 2 times in the last 4 years, the Kahraman Stable started their racing activities in Germany.

Benim için her projenin yeri ve önemi farklı. İçerisinde bulunduğunuz ve zamanla değişebilen şartlar öncelikleri de değiştirebiliyor.

Pandemi bize bunu bir kez daha gösterdi. Sektöre yetişmiş, kalifiye insan kaynağı sağlamak için eğitim, yetiştiriciliğin ve buna bağlı olarak yarışçılığın ilerlemesi için yeni ve kaliteli kan hatlarıyla desteklenmesi, atçılığın yayılması ve gelişimi için yeni yatırımlar, tesisler, destekler, yapısal değişiklikler, hepsi ayrı ayrı önemli.

Sektörün geleceğine yönelik lisans hakkı süreci. Atçılığın algısının iyileştirilmesine yönelik çalışmalar…

Belirleyip ilan ettiğimiz projelerimizin birçoğunu gerçekleştirdik, bazıları gerçekleşme aşamasında, bazılarını ise önümüzdeki günlerde gündeme alacağız.

SINCE YOUR FIRST PRESIDENCY, WHAT WAS YOUR MOST IMPORTANT PROJECT? DID YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN? For me, the place and importance of each project are different. The conditions that you are in and that can change over time can also change priorities. The pandemic has shown us this once again. Education, to provide trained and qualified human resources to the industry, supporting breeding and, accordingly, racing with new and high-quality bloodlines, new investments, facilities, supports, structural changes for the spread and development of industry, individually all are important. The licensing process for the future of the industry. Studies to improve the perception of horsemanship…

We have realized many of our projects that we have determined and announced, some of them are in the process of realization, and some of them will be on the agenda in the coming days.

LİSANS HAKLARININ TÜRKİYE VARLIK FONU’NA DEVRİ, ATÇILIĞIMIZA NASIL YANSIDI? Belirsizlik ve değişim başta doğal olarak endişe yaratır fakat zamanla herkes gördü ki, konunun tüm tarafları hem ülkemiz hem de atçılık için en faydalı modelin belirlenmesi noktasında hemfikir. Sürecin bu kadar uzun sürmesi de bu hassasiyeti gösteriyor aslında.

Biz de sürecin başından beri Türkiye Varlık Fonu ile çok yakın temas halindeyiz. Kendilerine hem sektörümüzün farklılığını hem de 71 yıldır bu görevi başarıyla yürüten Kulübümüzü en iyi şekilde tanıttığımızı düşünüyor ve atçılığı olumsuz etkileyebilecek herhangi bir yapısal değişikliğe yönelmeyeceklerine yürekten inanıyorum.

HOW DID THE TRANSFER OF LICENSE RIGHTS TO TURKEY WEALTH FUND AFFECT OUR INDUSTRY? Uncertainty and changes naturally cause concern at first, but over time, everyone saw that all parties to the issue agreed on the determination of the most beneficial model for both our country and the horse racing industry. The fact that the process takes so long shows this sensitivity.

We have been in close contact with the Turkey Wealth Fund since the beginning of the process.

I think that we have introduced to them both the differences of our industry and our Club, which has been successfully carrying out this task for 71 years, and I sincerely believe that they will not make any structural changes that may negatively affect our industry.

TJK, AYGIR TRANSFERLERİ SONRASINDA, YETİŞTİRİCİLİK ALANINDA DÜNYADA TANINAN BİR OYUNCU KONUMUNA YÜKSELDİ. AYGIR SEÇİMLERİNİ NASIL GERÇEKLEŞTİRDİNİZ? Aygır alım komisyonunu oluşturan arkadaşlarım gerçekten çok ciddi çalışmalar, araştırmalar yaptılar, temaslarda bulundular.

Adayları birçok açıdan titizlikle değerlendirerek atçılığımız için en uygun olanlarını bulmaya çalıştılar. Sonrasında birlikte değerlendirdik ve seçimlerimizi yaptık. Satın alınan aygırların yavrularının biz aldıktan sonraki başarılı performansları, Daredevil’in ABD’den gelen talep üzerine Kulübümüz sahipliğinde aşım yapmak için geri gönderilmesi, doğru seçimler yaptığımızı gösterdi. There are some practices and rules that are necessary for global integration and that are not under our control but need to be changed, and we have studies and contacts regarding them.

We will share it in the coming days when it becomes more concrete. Because unilateral integration cannot be permanent, we have seen this in the recent past. WHEN DO YOU AIM TO RUN THE FIRST RACE AT THE ANTALYA RACECOURSE? IS THERE ANY PROGRESS ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW RACECOURSE(S) IN ERZINCAN OR ELSEWHERE? Hopefully, we aim to start the races in Antalya in mid-January 2022. As I just mentioned, we would like other facilities to be built, of course, but all these should be done at the right time in terms of the dynamics of the industry and when the conditions allow. Of course, we want to renew the center of our racing, Istanbul Veliefendi Racecourse in the most beautiful and safest way, just as Longchamp in Paris or Ascot Racecourse in London were renewed. In order to host all our people in the best way, we would like to have modern and exemplary stands that will meet today's needs. ÇALIŞTIRICI SEYİS PROJESİ NE ZAMAN HAYATA GEÇECEK? BU PROJE İLE TJK NEYİ HEDEFLİYOR? Çalıştırıcı seyis projesinin altyapısını kurmakta olduğumuz Karacabey’de gerek mevcut tesislerin dershane ve yatakhaneye dönüştürülmesi için gerekli revizyonlar gerekse ahırlar, manej, lonj alanları gibi yeni bölümlerin inşaatı sürmekte. Yıl sonuna kadar tamamlayıp önümüzdeki yılın ilk aylarında öğrenci kabulüne başlamayı planlıyoruz. Çalıştırıcı seyis dediğiniz zaman; at’ın hem bakımını yapacak hem de çalıştıracak donanımlı, kalifiye kişilerden bahsediyoruz. Bakım ve eğitimi aynı kişinin yapması hem at hem de at sahibi ve antrenör açısından avantajlı. Mevcut sistemde idman jokeyleri her bir at’a yeteri kadar vakit ayıramıyor.

Sahadaki birkaç dakika süren idmanı öncesi ve sonrasında at’ların hazırlığı, gezintisi, bakımı farklı kişiler tarafından yapılıyor. Bu durum atların performansını fiziksel ve ruhsal anlamda olumsuz etkiliyor, stres yaratıyor. At sahibi ve antrenör de bu yeni sistemde tek bir kişiyle muhatap oluyor. Çalıştırıcı seyisler de dahil olmak üzere tüm tarafların kazançlı çıkacağı bir sistem bu. Yeter ki doğru eğitimle kalifiye personel yetiştirelim. Biz de bu doğrultuda, 3 değerli eğitmenimizi bu işin merkezi olan İngiltere’deki British Racing School’a 4,5 aylık bir eğitime gönderdik. Zaten yurt içi ve yurt dışı tecrübeleri olan Vedat Boyraz, Raşit Yetimova ve Ramazan Demirkıran isimli arkadaşlarımız, sektördeki tecrübelerine eğitmen olma eğitimini de ekleyip sertifikalarını alarak tam donanımlı hale geldiler.

WHEN WILL THE RIDING-LAD PROJECT COME TO LIFE? WHAT DOES TJK AIM FOR WITH THIS PROJECT? In Karacabey, where we are establishing the infrastructure of the riding lad project, the necessary revisions to transform the existing facilities into classrooms and dormitories, as well as the construction of new sections such as barns, manege, and lunge areas are continuing. We plan to complete it by the end of the year and start accepting students in the first months of next year.

When we say riding-lad, we are talking about qualified people who will both care and work with the horse. Caring and training by the same person is advantageous for both the horse, the owner and the trainer. In the current system, workout jockeys cannot allocate enough time to each horse. Before and after the training, which lasts for a few minutes on the field, the preparation, ride and care of the horses are done by different people. This situation negatively affects the performance of horses physically and mentally and creates stress.

In this new system, the horse owner and trainer are dealing with only one person. It is a system in which all parties will gain, including the riding-lads. As long as we train qualified personnel with the right training. In this direction, we sent our 3 valuable trainers to the British Racing School in England, which is the center of this business, for a 4.5-month training. Our friends named Vedat Boyraz, Raşit Yetimova and Ramazan Demirkıran, who already have domestic and international experiences, have become fully equipped by adding instructor ability to their experience, with getting their certificates to be an instructor in the industry.

Tabii ki çözüm olacak, ya da çözüme çok ciddi katkı sağlayacak. Zaten projenin temel amacı bu. Gerekli eğitim altyapısını hazırlamayıp sonra da ilgili kişileri yeterli eğitime sahip değil diye nitelendirmek çok adil değil. Belki sektördeki her türlü yatırım ve eğitimi Türkiye Jokey Kulübü’nden beklemek de doğru değil ama bu konu çok kritik ve atçılığımızın gelişiminin önündeki engellerden önemli bir tanesi. Dolayısıyla biz bu sorumluluğu üstlenip gerekli adımları atmak istedik. Sonuçta hepimizin hedefi ortak; Türk atçılığının ilerlemesi ve dünyada söz sahibi hale gelmesi. ÜNİVERSİTELİ ANTRENÖRLERİN SEKTÖRE UYUMU KONUSUNDA SORUNLAR YAŞANDIĞI BİLİNİYOR. BU KONUDA HERHANGİ PROJENİZ VAR MI? Antrenörlük ve genel anlamda atçılık, dışarıdan gözüktüğünden çok daha zor bir iş. Çok sevmek, çok sabretmek ve kendini adamak lazım. Maalesef genç arkadaşlarımızın bir kısmı gerçekçi olmayan beklentilere çok çabuk ulaşacaklarını sanarak bu sektöre girmeye niyet ediyor fakat sonrasında gerçeklerle yüzleştiklerinde zorluklara dayanamayıp bırakıyorlar. İçlerinden bazıları ise gerçekten bu işi sevip, çok çalışıp sebat ediyor ve başarılı oluyorlar. Biz hem Kulüp hem de atçılar olarak gerçekten sektörde kalmak isteyenlere elimizden geldiğince destek olmaya çalışıyoruz. Çalıştırıcı seyislik eğitimi de bu noktada onlara faydalı olabilecek çünkü yurt dışında antrenör olabilmek için önce bu eğitimler veriliyor. Of course, there will be a solution, or it will contribute to the solution very seriously. This is the main purpose of the project. It is very unfair to not prepare the necessary education infrastructure and then to describe the relevant people as not having enough education.

Maybe it is not right to expect all kinds of investments and schooling from the Jockey Club of Turkey, but this issue is very critical and is one of the important obstacles to the development of our horse racing industry. Therefore, we wanted to assume this responsibility and take the necessary steps. After all, we all have a common goal; Progress of Turkish equestrianism and to have a voice in the world.

IT IS KNOWN THAT UNIVERSITY-GRADUATED TRAINERS EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS IN THE ADAPTATION PROCESS TO THE INDUSTRY. DO YOU HAVE ANY PROJECTS IN THIS REGARD? Being a trainer and being in the industry, in general, is a much more difficult job than it seems from the outside. It takes a lot of love, patience and dedication. Unfortunately, some of our young friends intend to enter this sector, thinking that they will reach unrealistic expectations very quickly, but when they face the facts, they can't stand the difficulties and leave. Some of them really love this job, work hard, persevere and become successful. As both the Club and other members, we try to support those who really want to stay in the industry as much as we can. Riding-lad education can also be beneficial for them at this point because these lessons are given first in order to become a trainer abroad. Assistant trainer and then trainer processes are the next stages. Unfortunately, it is not possible to become a trainer with only the book without learning the A of the alphabet of the industry, in other words, Horse.

Sezon içerisinde İngiliz atlarına ayrılan 24 Grup 1 koşunun 6’si ekim ayında koşuldu. 2 yaşlı tayların Çaldıran, 3 ve yukarı yaşlı dişilere ait Harem ve Cumhurbaşkanlığı koşuları nefesleri keserken geleceğin ve günümüzün şampiyonlarını izleme fırsatımız oldu.

11 Grup 1 koşu kazanarak, bu alanda Türkiye’deki İngiliz atları arasında rekortmen durumda bulunan Long Runner (Gio Ponti-Borrowing Base/Personal Flag) Topkapı Koşusu’ndaki ikinciliği sonrası sentetik pistteki G1 Byerley Turk Koşusu’yla sahalara geri döndü ve yarışın mutlak favorisi olarak piste çıktı.

Yarış boyunca temponun yüksek olması Long Runner’ın lehine olarak gözükse de rakibini çok iyi tanıyan, Yamanlarbeyi’nin (Torok-Alakan/Kaneko) jokeyi Gökhan Kocakaya, son düzlükte Long Runner’ın dışına çıkarak atına uzun ve kusursuz bir sprint yaptırdı. Özellikle son 200 metrede yanyana gelen bu iki safkan, foto finiş’e kadar başa baş mücadele ederken, rakiplerinden de ayrıldılar. İzleyenlere büyük keyif veren bu mücadeleden Yamanlarbeyi baş farkıyla galip ayrılırken, 2000 metre mesafeli koşuda, 2:01.97’lik bitiriş derecesiyle Byerley Turk Koşusu’nun en iyi ikinci derecesini yapmış oldu. BU ikilinin 5 boy gerisinde kalan Vincitore (Victory Gallop-Elevato/Kaneko) son ataklarıyla 3. olurken, koşuya tempo veren atlardan Oğlum Doruk (Bosphorus-Carolina Reaper/Victory Gallop) koşuyu 4. olarak bitirdi.

The 6 of 24 G1 races for Thoroughbreds took place in October. 2-year-olds’ Çaldıran Stakes and 3-year-olds’ Harem and Presidency Stakes were breathtaking events, and we had a chance to watch some future stars.

The record-holder among the Thoroughbreds with his 11 G1 victories in Turkey, Long Runner (Gio Ponti-Borrowing Base/Personal Flag), returned to track in the G1 Byerley Turk Stakes (Polytrack), after his runner-up in the Topkapı Stakes, and he was the deserved favorite in this one.

The race developed with a pretty fast pace and it looked like a perfect opportunity for Long Runner, but the jockey of Yamanlarbeyi (Torok-Alakan/Kaneko), Gökhan Kocakaya was not a stranger to his rival and he took his horse outside of Long Runner and made a long and flawless sprint. We watched the toe-to-toe fight between Long Runner and Yamanlarbeyi from the last 200 meters mark until the finishing line and they were well ahead of their rivals. Yamanlarbeyi was the winner of this amazing race by a head margin and clocked the 2nd best finishing time of the Byerley Turk Stakes, with 2:01.97 at 2000 meters. Vincitore (Victory Gallop-Elevato/Kaneko) finished 3rd, 5 lengths behind the front pair and Oğlum Doruk (Bosphorus-Carolina Reaper/ Victory Gallop), one of the pacesetters, finished 4th.

GIRL GONE BAD 3 ve yukarı yaşlı İngiliz kısraklarının katılabildiği Harem Koşusu, İstanbul Veliefendi Hipodromu’nda, 2100 metre çim pistte koşuldu. 3 yaşlı Light Of Darkness (Red Rocks-Charming Legacy/Danehill) hem kendi yaş grubundaki koşularda hem de G3 İstanbul Koşusu’nda zafere ulaşınca bu mücadeleye favori olarak girdi. Ağır pistten olumsuz etkilendiği söylenen safkan yarışı 5. bitirirken, koşunun kazananını foto finiş belirleyebildi. Yarış boyunca sondan ikinci olarak öndeki grubu takip eden Girl Gone Bad’in (Toruk Macto-Heiress S/Devir) jokeyi Mustafa Çiçek, düzlükte aradığı yolu bariyer dibine yakın bir yerde bulunca, safkanının etkili sprinti ile bu zorlu mücadeleyi poto’da kazanmayı başardı. Koşunun ikinci favorisi Hard Off Hüsne ise her zamanki gibi kazanan atın hemen dibinde yarışı bitirirken, bu sefer de hiç beklemediği bir rakibe geçildi.

The 2100-meter turf contest, the 3yo+ fillies’ & mares’ Harem Stakes took place at the İstanbul Veliefendi Racecourse. 3-year-old Light Of Darkness (Red Rocks-Charming Legacy/Danehill) was the winner in the races against her agemates and also in the G3 İstanbul Stakes, therefore she was the favorite in the race. It was told that Light of Darkness was affected by the heavy ground while finishing 5th in the race that was decided by a photo finish. Girl Gone Bad (Toruk Macto-Heiress S/Devir) tracked the race 2nd from the last throughout the race under her jockey Mustafa Çiçek. Mustafa Çiçek found a gap through inside the track and capitalized from that with a strong late surge to win the race in a photo finish. Hard Off Hüsne finished 2nd again, as we used to see, but this time she was beaten by an unexpected rival.

Startla birlikte koşunun yükünü çekmeye başlayan Çipçe (Native Khan-Bostorgay/Dai Jin) son 200’e lider girdiği yarıştan 3., ağır piste rağmen çok düzgün sprint yapan Aragona (VictoryGallop-Karatutkum/Bin Ajwaad) da mücadeleyi 4. olarak tamamladı.

3-year-old Hard Off Hüsne has 3 runner-ups and three 3rd place efforts in 6 Group races and continued her consistent streak. The pacemaker of the race, Çipçe (Native Khan-Bostorgay/Dai Jin), entered the last 200 meters as the leader but finished 3rd, and Aragona (VictoryGallop-Karatutkum/ Bin Alwaad), who moved well despite the heavy ground managed to finish 4th.

Bu sene 2 yaşlı İngiliz tayları arasında öne çıkan bazı isimler olsa da çoğunluk Final Dance’ın (Declaration Of War-Finnie Mac Cool/Giant’s Causeway) rakiplerinden iyi olduğunu düşünüyor. Final Dance, taylar için sezonun son G1 mücadelesi olan Çaldıran Koşusu öncesinde de favori olarak gösteriliyordu. Günün çim pistteki koşuları, yoğun yağış nedeniyle, sentetik piste alındı ama yönetmelik gereği, G1 ve G2 yarışlarda pist değişikliği yapılmadığı için, Çaldıran koşusu 5.2 çok ağır çimde koşuldu.

Despite having some prominent names among the 2-year-olds this year, Final Dance (Declaration Of War-Finnie Mac Cool/Giant’s Causeway) is considered the best among 2-year-olds. Final Dance was considered as the favorite also in this last race for 2-year-olds of the Season, in the Çaldıran Stakes. Turf races of the day were moved to the Polytrack course due to heavy rain, but the Çaldıran Stakes took place on a heavy track (5,2) as G1 and G2 races’ tracks cannot be changed as per the regulations.

Pistin ağırlığı 1600 metrelik yarışın temposunu hiç etkilemedi ve taylar ilk 1000 metreyi 59.55 ile geçtiler. Geçen sene de 5.3 çok ağır pistte koşulan Çaldıran Koşusu’nun lideri Kar Kız (Gregorian-Snow Cover/Verglas) ilk 1000 metreyi 1:04.66 ile geçip, üçüncü olmuştu. Öndeki taylar bu sene de kazanamasa da bu pistte bu kadar yüksek tempoyla gidebilen taylardan geleceğin şampiyonlarının çıkmasını beklemek abes olmaz.

The heavy ground did not affect the pace as the field passed the first 1000 meters with 59.55. Last year this race took place on a heavy (5,3) ground again and the pacemaker Kar Kız (Gregorian-Snow Cover/Verglas) finished 3rd after passing the first 1000 meters with 1:04.66. Although the pacemakers could not win this year, it would not be unreasonable to expect future champions to emerge from this group that can run at such a high pace on this track.

Sert tempoya rağmen yarışı öndeki ikilinin hemen arkasında takip eden Gökhan Kocakaya’nın bindiği Sigoş (Toruk Macto-Crafty Spell/Mastercraftsman) son 400’deki etkili ataklarıyla koşuyu kazanmayı başardı. Sigoş böylece, son 4 Grup koşusundaki 3222 olan performansını bu önemli koşunun birinciliği ile taçlandırdı. Son 150 metreye 6. durumda girebilen Final Dance’ı, son metrelerdeki güçlü atakları ancak 2. yapabildi. Koşuya sert tempoyu veren Karakraliçe (Smart Robin-Sezgi Hanım/Mountain Cat) son metrelerde, yarış boyu kendisini gölge gibi takip eden, Bold Sea Rover’a (Torok-Seacleff/A.P.Indy) geçilince 4.’lük de kaldı.

Sigoş (Toruk Macto-Crafty Spell/Mastercraftsman), who tracked the front group very closely, managed to win the race under Gökhan Kocakaya with his late attacks in the last 400 meters, despite the blistering pace he was involved in. Sigoş crowned his brilliant performance, which was 3222 in the last 4 Group races, with the victory in this important race. Final Dance could only enter the last 150 meters in 6th place and his strong late attacks could only bring him 2nd place. The pacemaker of this fast-developed contest, Karakraliçe (Smart Robin-Sezgi Hanım/Mountain Cat) could not deny Bold Sea Rover (Torok-Seacleff/A.P.Indy), who tracked her very closely throughout the race, and finished 4th behind Bold Sea Rover.

BURGAS, YILIN ATI… - HORSE OF THE YEAR, BURGAS...

The Presidency Stakes is considered the final challenge of the best stayer Thoroughbreds. Especially the Derby-winning 3-year-olds’ challenges against their older rivals have always been of great importance in terms of comparing generations. While the first two of this year’s Turkish Derby were registered for this race this year, their performance against their older competitors was eagerly awaited.

Cumhurbaşkanlığı Koşusu, uzun mesafede en iyi İngiliz atlarının final mücadelesi olarak kabul edilir. Özellikle Gazi Koşusu’nu kazanan tayların, yaşça büyük rakiplerle mücadelesi her zaman jenerasyonları kıyaslamak açısından büyük öneme sahip olmuştur. Bu sene de Gazi Koşusu’nun 1. ve 2.’si bu koşuya kayıt yaptırırken, yaşça kendilerinden büyük rakipler arasında gösterecekleri performans merakla bekleniyordu.

Koşu öncesindeki son 2 yarışında eski günlerine döndüğünün sinyalini veren Long Runner (Gio Ponti-Borrowing Base/Personal Flag) son 2 yılın da kazananı olması sebebiyle bu koşuya favori olarak giriyordu. Yarışta kendine güzel bir yer bulup, düzlükte de önü kapanmayarak kesintisiz sprint yapma olanağını bulmasına rağmen ikincilikle yetindi. Çünkü 2021 Gazi ve Ankara Koşuları galibi, bu sene katıldığı 8 yarışın 6’sını kazanan Burgas (King David-Thisbe/ Yavuzstar), bu kez de formunun zirvesinde olduğunu gösteriyordu. Şampiyon 3 tay, yarışı ön gruba yakın takip edip, son 400’de de iç kulvardan yaptığı ataklarla liderliği alırken, sanki koşmaya yeni başlıyormuşçasına dinç görünüyordu… Güçlü rakiplerine tartışmasız biçimde üstünlük sağlayan safkan, çim pistteki 2400 metrelik koşuda 3 boy önde potoya uzanırken jokeyi Ahmet Çelik ile 2:29.23 gibi bu koşunun en iyi derecelerinden birini de gerçekleştirdi.

Cumhurbaşkanlığı Koşusu sonrasında alkışladığımız Burgas, aynı zamanda yılın atı olmayı da fazlasıyla hak ediyordu. Bir diğer 3 yaşlı tay, Gazi Koşusu 2.’si Real Runner (Invincible Son-Baklava/Cape Cross) koşuyu 3. bitirirken, Invincible Son’un diğer temsilcisi 2020 yılı Gazi Koşusu 2.’si Lord Of Game (Invincible Son-Mystical Falls/Sri Pekan) de 4.’lükte kaldı.

Long Runner (Gio Ponti-Borrowing Base/Personal Flag) gave the signal of returning to his old days and was the winner of last 2 years’ Presidency Stakes’ and was the favorite of the race. He found a good way through and did not interfere by any horse but had to settle with 2nd place, because 2021 Turkish Derby and Ankara Stakes (Turkish St. Leger) winner Burgas (King David-Thisbe/Yavuzstar), who also came here with 6 wins in his 8 races that he participated in this season, showed everyone that he was in top form. The champion 3-year-old tracked the pace closely, and he looked fresh as if he was just breaking from the gate when he took the lead with his attacks from the inner lane in the last 400.

Burgas clocked 2:29.23 under Ahmet Çelik, one of the best finishing times of this race, while asserting his rivals easily by 3 lengths in the 2400-meter contest. Burgas, whom we applauded after the Presidency Stakes, also deserved to be the horse of the year. One of the other 3-year-olds, the Turkish Derby runner-up Real Runner (Invincible Son-Baklava/Cape Cross) finished 3rd and the other Invincible Son representative, 2020 Turkish Derby runner-up Lord Of Game (Invincible Son-Mystical Falls/Sri Pekan) held 4th.

SPENCER, 13’TE 10 YAPTI… Her sene kum pistin en iyilerini ağırlayan Ankara Kalesi Koşusu, bu sene de yine bu pistin başarılı atlarını bir araya getirdi. Özellikle 3 yaşlı tayların performansı koşuya damga vururken gelecek için de özellikle kum pist yarışlarının çok daha heyecanlı geçeceği izlenimini de verdi.

Startla birlikte liderliği alan Spencer (Cuvee-Last Diana/Eagle Eyed), rahatsız eden bir rakibi olmayınca, istediği tempoda götürdüğü yarışı kazanmayı başardı. Ayhan Kurşun’un bindiği safkan 2000 metrelik koşuyu 2:08.33 ile tamamladı ve böylece 13. yarışından 10. galibiyetiyle ayrıldı. Ön grubun hemen arkasında yarışı takip eden King Man Go (Mendip-Pomerol/Honour And Glory) düzlükte güçlü ataklarla gelse de rakibini geçemedi. Yarışı sürekli liderin arkasında takip eden Regardless (Captain Rio-She’sIndy Money/A.P.Indy) sonlarda temposunu koruyamadığı için 3.’lükte kaldı. Son düzlüğe 9. durumda çıkıp, etkili sprinti ile dikkati çeken Osman Bey (Bosporus-Barletta/River Special) ise 4. oldu.

The Cappadocia Stakes was firstly included in the racing calendar in 2010 as an A3 (G3) race, and in the last 3 years, it took place as a Listed Race but upgraded to G1-level this year. 12 fillies & mares competed in this 2000-meter dirt contest at the Ankara 75. Yıl Racecourse. Silent Wave (Torok-Keyfe Değer/Strike The Gold) tracked the pace in 5th place throughout the race, made her move under Müslüm Çelik after the last bend and showed a great turn of foot to take the lead inside the last 400 meters to win the race by 5 lengths. Hayalet Kız (English Channel-Etna’s Anger/Pulpit) hang on for 2nd place, Melinam (Lion Heart-Kızım Melike/Kaneko) finished 3rd and Valente (Yonaguska-Hankepek Kızı/Lugano) finished 4th.

SPENCER MADE IT 10 OF 13 The Ankara Castle Stakes brought together the best horses of the dirt track once again, like previous years. 3-year-olds caught the eye and the race gave us the impression that we will be watching some exciting races in the future. Spencer (Cuvee-Last Diana/Eagle Eyed) took the lead and was left alone in front and set her own pace to win the race. Ridden by Ayhan Kurşun, Spencer clocked 2:08.33 in the 2000-meter contest and made it 10 wins in 13 attempts. Osman Bey (Bosporus-Barletta/River Special) caught the eye as he turned the last bend in 9th place and finished 4th with his strong late attacks.

Yıl Hipodromu’nda, 2000 metre kum pistte düzenlenen koşuya, 12 dişi safkan katıldı. Yarış boyunca 5.’likte gidip, son düzlükte bir anda öne atak yaparak 400’de de liderliği alan Müslüm Çelik’in bindiği Silent Wave (Torok-Keyfe Değer/ Strike The Gold), her geçen metrede de temposunu arttırınca 5 boy farkla rahat bir birincilik elde etti. Koşunun favorisi Hayalet Kız (English Channel-Etna’s Anger/Pulpit) arka gruba direnerek ikinciliği kurtarırken, Melinam (Lion Heart-Kızım Melike/Kaneko) ve Valente (Yanaguska-Hankepek Kızı/Lugano) de 3. ve 4.’lüğü paylaştılar.

SEZONUN SON GRUP 1 MÜCADELELERİ SEASON’S LAST G1 RACES

Yıllık yarış programında Arap atlarına ayrılan 14 Grup 1 yarışın 5’i ekim ayında koşuldu. 3 yaşlı Arap tayları için düzenlenen G1 Hatay ve Haralar koşuları geleceğin şampiyon adaylarını bir araya getirirken, 3 ve yukarı yaşlı Arap atlarının Cumhuriyet Koşusu da en formda safkanları buluşturdu.

5 of 14 G1 races for purebred Arabian horses took place in October. 3-year-olds’ G1 Hatay and Haralar Stakes brought future champion candidates together, and 3yo+ purebred Arabian horses’ G1 Republic Stakes was the home of top-form horses.

Yarış hayatına 5’te 5 yaparak başlayarak Hatay Koşusu’na gelen Sertberk (Berksoy-Adelina/Bozdağ), ekürisi ve ciddi rakibi olan Kır Ejder’in (Berksoy-Lemankızı/Alburak) de koşmamasıyla, Ankara 75. Yıl Hipodromu’ndaki bu yarışın çok ciddi favorisi haline geldi. Sertberk yarışı ön grupla takip edip, son virajdaki ataklarıyla farkı daha da açarak koşuyu 5 boy önde kazandı. Mehmet Akyavuz’un bindiği safkanın çim pistteki 1600 metrelik koşuyu bitiriş derecesi 1:45.51 oldu. Bu koşu sonrası Cumhuriyet Koşusu için de favori olarak gösterilmeye başlanan safkan, yaşadığı sakatlık sebebiyle sezonu kapattı.

Kendi jenerasyonuna bariz bir üstünlük kuran Sertberk’in, yaşça büyük rakipleri yanında nasıl bir performans göstereceği şimdiden merak konusu…

Koşunun dördüncüsü ise Boraks (Sonalp-Menengiç/Antepli) oldu.

Sertberk (Berksoy-Adelina/Bozdağ), who came to the G1 Hatay Stakes with 5 wins in 5 attempts, became even more favorite as his stablemate Kır Ejder (Berksoy-Lemankızı/Alburak) did not participate in the race that took place at the Ankara 75. Yıl Racecourse. Sertberk tracked the pace very closely and showed a brilliant turn-of-foot to win the race by 5 lengths. He clocked 1:45.51 under Mehmet Akyavuz in this 1600-meter turf contest. He was considered as the favorite of upcoming Republic Stakes but had to end his season due to the injury he suffered. Sertberk looks way beyond his generation and his performance against his older rivals is a question of interest….

Silahlı (Silah-Bilensoy/Bilgin) tracked the pace in 5th place, and after his jockey realized that he could not deal with Serberk, he tried to take more advantage in the 2nd place fight and managed to deny Canmete (Tamerinoğlu-Nenehatun/Bodrum) to take 2nd place. Boraks (Sonalp-Menengiç/Antepli) finished 4th.

3 Yaşlı Arap atlarının Sentetik pistteki tek Grup 1 yarışı olan Haralar Koşusu 1400 metre mesafede, İstanbul Veliefendi Hipodromu’nda koşuldu.

Sentetik pistte G2 koşuyu da kazanan Bilirhan (Turbo-Gardenya/Bilgin) favori gösterildiği bu koşuyu da jokeyi Akın Sözen’le beyaz bayrak ayna yaparak kazandı. Yarış boyu takipçisi olan Deniz Şövalyesi (Gelibolu-Manita/Berksoy) ikincilikte kalırken, Canmete (Tamerinoğlu-Nenehatun/ Bodrum) 3. ve virajı sonuncu dönmesine rağmen son metrelerdeki güçlü ataklarıyla Balıkçıkral (Baba Mevlüt-Hanlarkızı/Turbo) 4. oldu.

En gerideki diğer at Kardeşcan (Turbo-Bedel 2/Tunca) da etkili sprint yapmasına rağmen rakiplerini geçemeyerek 3.’lükte kaldı. Koşunun sert temposunu belirleyip son 200 metreye kadar liderliğini koruyan Aypars (Tümöz Bey-Ümran/Caş) koşunun 4.’sü oldu.

One of the backmarkers of this fastly-ran race, Karamustafa (Caş-Akay/Bilgin) won the race under Halis Karataş while clocking 1:38.95. The G1 Turkish Armed Forces Stakes winner 15 days ago and also the favorite of this race, Oğuzboylu (Anka-Betül/ Antepli) had to settle with 2nd place. The other backmarker, Kardeşcan (Turbo-Bedel 2/Tunca) could only finish 3rd despite his strong late attacks. Aypars (Tümöz Bey-Ümran/Caş) set a pretty fast pace and managed to protect his lead until the last 200 meters but finished 4th.

Arap atçılığının kuşkusuz en önemli yarışı olarak kabul edilen Grup 1 Cumhuriyet Koşusu bu sene birçok ilke sahne oldu. Arap atı yarışçılığında kazanmadık kupa bırakmayan Kaya ailesi, bu koşuyu ilk defa kazanırken, 2005 yılından beri de beyaz bayrak ayna yapan bir safkan da ilk kez birinciliğe uzandı.

The Group 1 Republic Stakes, which is considered to be the most important contest of Arabian horse racing, witnessed many firsts this year. The Kaya Stable, who has won almost all other big titles but this one, reached their first victory for the first time in this race, and for the first time since 2005, we watched a wire-to-wire performer as the winner.

Son 3 senedir her Cumhuriyet Koşusu’na katılan Yeltay (Güntay-Yeldem/Pegasus) her sene kendi stilinde koşan bir rakibe denk geliyordu. Bu sene de Aypars, kendisini rahatsız etmeyince, istediği tempoyu kurmuş oldu. Yarış öncesi jokey değişikliği yapmak zorunda kalan, bu koşunun en yaşlı safkanı, 7 yaşındaki Yeltay’a, daha önce bu koşuyu hiç kazanmamış, Mehmet Kaya bindi. Ne taraftan bakarsanız, Yeltay’ın kazanması için tüm şartlar oluşmuştu ve o da 42 yıllık Cumhuriyet Koşusu tarihinin en iyi üçüncü derecesini (1:44.77) yaparak koşuyu kazanmayı başardı.

Yeltay (Güntay-Yeldem/Pegasus), who has been participating in every Republic Stakes for the last 3 years, faded up against an opponent with the same running style on every occasion. This year, he could set his own tempo as Aypars did not contest the lead. 7-year-old Yeltay’s jockey had to be changed before the race and the new jockey was Mehmet Kaya, who has never won this race before. From where you approach, all the conditions were met for Yeltay to win, and he managed to win the race by clocking the 3rd best finishing time with 1:44.77 in the history of the 42-year Republic Stakes.

Gülhatmi (Tamerinoğlu-Dahi/Bilgin) separated herself by 2 lengths from the field with her strong late attacks but did not seem at a decent level to beat Yeltay and had to settle with 2nd place. Karamustafa (Caş-Akay/Bilgin) and Oğuzboylu (Anka-Betül/Antepli) ran firstly on dirt, then on Polytrack and lastly on turf on 3 G1 races and finished 3rd and 4th and managed to achieve something important.

We had a detailed interview with Faisal Al Rahmani, who is the Director of Al Ain Racecourse and UAE The President Cup, advisor to many individuals and institutions, and who was elected as the President of IFAHR for the second time, about the World and Turkish Purebred Arabian Industry.

ARAP ATÇILIĞI İLE İLGİLENMEYE NE ZAMAN BAŞLADINIZ? Aslında ben atçılığa İngiliz atlarıyla başladım. Uzun süredir at sahipliği, satış organizatörü ve temsilcisi, kurum ve şahıslara atçılıkla ilgili danışmanlık yapıyordum. Uluslararası atçılık camiası ile sürekli iş birliği içerisinde ve ARQANA’nın körfez ülkeleri temsilcisiydim.

Oman, Qatar, Kuveyt, Suudi Arabistan ve Birleşik Arap Emirlikleri’nde (BAE) aktif olarak yoğun bir mesai harcıyordum. Al Ain Hipodromu’nun açılışı sürecinde de aktif olarak görev aldım. O dönem Şeyh Mansur Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’ın Arap Atçılığı hakkında çok geniş vizyonu olduğunu gördüm. Bir toplantı sırasında bu konuda neler yapılabileceğini, uluslararası atçılık camiasındaki tecrübeler ve bağlantılarımı bu hedeflere ulaşmakta nasıl kullanabileceğimi kendisine ilettim. Seyh de bana uygulayabilmem için alan yarattı ve böylece Arap Atçılığı serüvenim başladı.

WHEN DID YOU FIRSTLY ENGAGE WITH PUREBRED ARABIAN HORSES? Actually, I started with Thoroughbreds. For a long time, I have been a horse owner, sales organizer and representative, and providing consultancy to institutions and individuals. I was in constant cooperation with the international equestrian community and was ARQANA's representative for the gulf countries. I was actively working in Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. I also took an active part in the launch process of the Al Ain Racecourse. At that time, I saw that Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan had a very broad vision for Purebred Arabian (PA) Horses. During a meeting, I conveyed to him what can be done about this issue, how I can use my experiences and connections in the international racing community to achieve these goals. Sheikh also made way for me to practice and thus my Purebred Arabian adventure began.

ŞEYH MANSUR BIN ZAYED AL NAHYAN’IN BAHSETTİĞİ VİZYONU HAKKINDA BİLGİ VEREBİLİR MİSİNİZ? Birleşik Arap Emirlikleri’nin kurucusu Şeyh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Arap atlarını sever ve büyük önem verirdi. Şeyh Mansur Bin Zayed Al Nahyan da hem babasının bu mirasına sahip çıkmak hem de bu kültür ve gelenek hakkında farkındalık yaratmak istiyordu. Bu sebeple de dünyanın birçok ülkesinde Arap atı yarışlarının düzenlenmesi için 1994 yılında UAE President Cup kuruldu. Sonrasında ise bunu, 2009 yılında başlatılan Şeyh Mansur bin Zayed Festival izledi. Bu festivaller kapsamında, pandemi koşullarına rağmen, dünya genelinde toplamda 234 yarış düzenlendi. Tüm bu yarışlar Seyh Mansur’un vizyonu ve destekleri sayesinde yapılıyor. Aslında bir nevi Arap atçılığında devrim yapıyor denilebilir.

GENEL KOORDİNATÖRÜ OLDUĞUNUZ UAE PRESIDENT CUP HAKKINDA BİLGİ VERİR MİSİNİZ? Bu turnuva ile Arap atçılığının Birleşik Arap Emirlikleri’nin kültürü ve tarihindeki önemi hakkında küresel farkındalık yaratmak amaçlanıyor. Son yıllarda popülaritesi artan Arap atçılığını küresel olarak çekici hale getirebilmek adına başlatılan BAE Kupası serisi, 1994 yılından beri düzenlenen ilk uluslararası yarış serisidir. Bu sene ilk defa Amerika’nın da dahil olduğu turnuva, dünya genelinde Arjantin, Tunus ve BAE dahil 14 ayrı ülkede düzenleniyor. Dünya genelinde Arap atçılığını tanıtmak ve rekabet gücünü arttırmak için

CAN YOU GIVE INFORMATION ABOUT THE VISION THAT WAS MENTIONED BY SHEIKH MANSOOR BIN ZAYED AL NAHYAN? Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the United Arab Emirates, loved and attached great importance to PA horses. Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan also wanted to protect the legacy of his father and raise awareness about this culture and tradition. For this reason, the UAE President Cup was established in 1994 to organize Arabian horse races in many countries all over the world. It was followed by the Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Festival, which was launched in 2009. Within the scope of these festivals, a total of 234 races were organized around the world despite the pandemic conditions. All these races are held thanks to the vision and support of Sheikh Mansoor. In fact, it can be said that it is making a kind of revolution in PA Racing.

CAN YOU GIVE US INFORMATION ABOUT UAE PRESIDENT CUP, WHERE YOU ARE RUNNING THE GENERAL COORDINATOR DUTY? The purpose of this tournament is to raise global awareness about the importance of Arabian racing in the culture and history of the United Arab Emirates. The UAE Cup series, which was launched in order to make PA racing, whose popularity has increased in recent years, globally attractive, is the first international racing series held since 1994. This year, for the first time, the tournament included the USA for the first time and

başlatılan turnuva ile bu gelenek günümüzde de istikrarlı bir şekilde sürdürülmektedir.

IFAHR BAŞKANLIĞI’NA ADAY OLMAYA NASIL KARAR VERDİNİZ? IFAHR’in öncelikli görevi, atların bulundukları ülkeden uluslararası yarışlara seyahat etmelerini kolaylaştırarak, Arap atçılığının küresel düzeyde büyümesini ve gelişmesini sağlamaktır. Bu açıdan bakıldığında Şeyh Mansur’un vizyonu ile örtüşen bir kuruluş olduğunu görüyoruz. Biz zaten kendi organizasyonlarımızla gelişime katkı sağlıyorduk ama daha global olmak adına dünya Arap atçılığı için en kilit pozisyonlardan biri olan IFAHR başkanlığına adaylığımın daha doğru olacağına karar verdik. 30 Eylül 2017 yılında yapılan seçimle de BAE adayı olarak IFAHR başkanlığına seçildim.

Başta da bahsettiğim gibi Seyh Mansur’un, babasından kalan bir mirası var ve bu işi çok ciddiye alıyor. Ben de bu vizyon ve destek doğrultusunda Arap atı yetiştiriciliği ve yarışçılığını, Dünya genelinde daha cazip hale getirmek için uğraşıyorum. Biz bunu kendi organizasyonlarımızla da yapıyorduk ama daha fazla ülkede Arap Atçılığı yapılabilmesini sağlamak, küçük atçılara destek vermek, Arap atlarını daha değerli kılmak gibi hedeflerimiz vardı. Bu hedefler doğrultusunda da Arap atçılığını düzenleyen kurum olarak IFAHR’de görev alırsak, süreci hızlandıracağımızı ve daha fazla katkı sağlayacağımız düşündük ve böylece 2017’de aday oldum ve başkan seçildim.

HOW DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A CANDIDACY FOR THE PRESIDENCY OF IFAHR? IFAHR's primary mission is to ensure the growth and development of PA horse racing at a global level by facilitating the travel of horses from their home country to international races.

From this point of view, we see that it is an organization that coincides with Sheikh Mansoor's vision. We were already contributing to the development of our own organizations, but in order to be more global, we decided that my candidacy for the presidency of IFAHR, which is one of the most key positions for world PA horse racing family, would be more accurate. With the election held on September 30, 2017, I was elected as the President of IFAHR as a UAE candidate.

As I mentioned at the beginning, Sheikh Mansoor has a legacy from his father and he takes this job very seriously. In line with this vision and support, I am trying to make Arabian horse breeding and racing more attractive around the world. We were also doing this with our own organizations, but we had goals such as ensuring PA horse breeding to be done in more countries, supporting small horsemen and making Arabian horses more valuable. In line with these goals, we thought that if we took part in IFAHR, as the institution that regulates Arabian racing, we would speed up the process and contribute more, so I became a candidate and was elected president in 2017.

BAŞKANLIĞINIZ DÖNEMİNDE ARAP ATÇILIĞINDA NE GİBİ GELİŞMELER OLDU? Yönetiminden sorumlu olduğum organizasyonlar ile IFAHR’in ortak çalışmaları sonucunda birçok yeni ülkede Arap atı yarışlarını başlattık. 6 yeni ülke IFAHR olarak bize katıldı. Ayrıca 5 ülke de, daha önce durdurduğu Arap atı yarışlarına yeniden başladı. Pandemi’ye rağmen yarış sayılarını artırdık. Küçük ölçekli atçılarımızı korumak adına farklı kategorilerde yarışlar düzenledik. Ayrıca Dünya genelinde Arap atçılığı yapmaya ve Arap atı yarışlarına olan ilgiyi arttırdık. Bunun sonucu olarakda, baktığınızda Arap atı yarışlarının ikramiyesinin arttırıldığını görebilirsiniz.

Suudi Arabistan’da düzenlenen Obaiya Arabian Classic seneye 2.000.000 USD olacak. Dubai Kahayla Classic, Jewel Crown ve World Arabian Cup pandemiye rağmen ikramiyeleri düşürmeyecek. Arap atı fiyatlarına baktığımızda arttığını görebiliyoruz. Daha önceleri yurtdışında Arap atlarına bahis oynanmaz ve hatta datalarını bile tutulmazken artık çok daha fazla ilgi gösteriliyor. Tüm bunlar Arap Atçılığının doğru yolda ilerlediğini gösteriyor. Hatta yarış sayısı ve ikramiyelere baktığınızda, bugün için Arap Atçılığı Altın Çağı’nı yaşıyor diyebilirim.

WHAT DEVELOPMENTS HAPPENED IN THE PUREBRED ARABIAN HORSE RACING INDUSTRY DURING YOUR PRESIDENCY? As a result of the joint work of the organizations I am responsible for managing and IFAHR, we have launched PA horse races in many new countries. 6 new countries joined us as IFAHR. In addition, 5 countries resumed Arabian horse races that they had stopped before. Despite the pandemic, we increased the number of races. In order to protect our small-scale horsemen, we organized races in different categories. We also increased the interest in PA horse racing and PA horse races around the world. As a result, you can see that the prize money for Arabian horse races has increased. The Obaiya Arabian Classic held in Saudi Arabia will be distributing 2,000,000 USD next year. Dubai Kahayla Classic, Jewel Crown and World Arabian Cup will not lower their prize money despite the pandemic. When we look at the Arabian horse prices, we can see that it has increased. Previously, foreign betting sites did not open bets for Arabian horse races and did not even keep their data, but now much more attention is paid to them. All this, I can say that Arabian Horsemanship is on the right track and even when you look at the number of races and prize money, I can say that PA horse industry is living its Golden Age today.

ARAP ATÇILIĞI SEKTÖRÜ SİZDEN MEMNUN OLACAK Kİ TÜM ÜYELERİN OYUNU ALARAK, OYBİRLİĞİYLE 2025’E KADAR YENİDEN BAŞKAN SEÇİLDİNİZ. HEDEFLERİNİZ NEDİR? Öncelikle, oybirliği ile seçilmem benim için büyük bir mutluluk. Çünkü bu bizim doğru yolda olduğumuzun bir başka göstergesi. Pandemi sürecine rağmen ekip arkadaşlarımla birlikte önemli işler yaptığımızı düşünüyorum ama bu başarının en büyük motivasyon kaynağı Şeyh Mansur oldu. Buradan Arap atçılığına yaptığı yatırımlar ve katkıları adına kendisine bir kez daha teşekkür ederim. Önümüzdeki yıllardaki planlarımıza gelince; Arap atçılığının gelişimi için harcadığımız çabaları bu dönemde de sürdüreceğiz. Bizim öncelikli hedefimiz Arap atçılığını daha değerli hale getirmek. Bunu da ancak yarış sayısını ve ikramiyelerini arttırarak yapabiliriz. Ülkeler arası geçişlerin kolaylaştırılması için çalışmalar yapıyoruz bu sayede Arap atçılığının cazibesinin artacağını düşünüyoruz. Arap atçılığına yeni başlayan ülkeleri çok önemsiyoruz ve altyapıları için ne gerekiyorsa destek oluyoruz. Tunus, Cezayir ve Libya gibi ülkelerin daha aktif olarak uluslararası yarışlara katılması için çalışmalar yapıyoruz. Bazı ülkelerde Arap atçılığı o kadar kısıtlı ki, yetkili kişi bıraktığı zaman ülkede Arap atçılığı duruyordu. Biz bunun önüne geçmek için de çalışmalar yapıyoruz. Bunun için, özellikle küçük atçıların yarışlarını değiştirdik çünkü büyük atçılar zaten bu operasyonu kendileri çevirebiliyorlar ama küçük atçılarımızı ayakta tutmamız lazım. Büyük eküriler sektörü çok domine ederse küçük atçılar ortadan kaybolabilir. Bu düşünceyle küçük atçılara desteklerimiz devam edecek.

First of all, it is a great pleasure for me to be elected unanimously. Because this is another indication that we are on the right track. Despite the pandemic period, I think we have done important things with my teammates, but Sheikh Mansoor was the biggest motivation for this success. I would like to thank him once again for his investments and contributions to the Arabian horse industry.

As for our plans for the coming years, we will continue our efforts for the development of PA racing in this period as well.

Our primary goal is to make PA racing more valuable. We can only do this by increasing the number of races and prize money. We are working to facilitate the transitions between countries, and we think that the attraction of PA horsemanship will increase. We attach great importance to countries that have just started Arabian racing and we support them with whatever is necessary for their infrastructure. We are working towards involving countries such as Tunisia, Algeria and Libya in international races. In some countries, PA racing is so limited that when the authorized person leaves, Arabian racing stopped in the country. We are also working to prevent this. For this, we have changed the races of the small horsemen, because the big horsemen can already manage this operation themselves, but we need to keep our small horsemen alive. If the big stables dominate the industry too much, the small owners & breeders may disappear. With this in mind, we will continue to support small horsemenship.

SİZCE SEKTÖRÜN İÇERİSİNDEKİ KİŞİLER KENDİLERİNİ GELİŞTİRİYORLAR MI? 10 sene önceki döneme baktığınızda, o günkü durum ile şimdi aynı değil. Önceden bu aygır iyi denilip bütün kısraklar ona gidiyordu ve sanki ATM’den para çeker gibi iyi at çıkması bekleniyorlardı ama bu iş öyle değil ki zaten atçılığın güzelliği de buradan geliyor. Artık herkes bunun farkına vardı. Kısraklar, kendi özelliklerine uygun aygırlara çekiyor. Miler isteyen belli atlara gidiyor, stayer isteyen başka aygırlara gidiyor. Arap atçılığında da artık insanlar pedigrileri inceleyip, kısraklarına uygun seçim yapmaya başladılar. Ayrıca idmanlarda da hızlı bir yarış atı olmasını istiyorsanız ona göre bir eğitim program uygulamanız gerekiyor. İnsanlar artık bu işi daha fazla ciddiye almaya başladı.

DO YOU THINK PEOPLE IN THIS SECTOR ARE DEVELOPING THEMSELVES? When you look at the period 10 years ago, the situation back then is not the same now. Previously, this stallion was called good, and all the mares were going to him, and they were waiting for a good horse to come out, as if withdrawing money from an ATM, but this is not the case. This is where the beauty of horsemanship comes from. Now everyone has realized this.

They send their mare to a stallion that matches his characteristics. Those who want miller to go to certain horses, those who want stayers go to other stallions. In Arabian horsemanship, people have started to examine pedigrees and choose the right ones for their mares. In addition, if you want to be a fast racehorse in training, you need to implement a training program accordingly. People are starting to take this more seriously now.

Türkiye dışarıdan Arap atlarının gelmesini istemiyor. Birçok kişi bu durumdan rahatsız oluyorsa da ben anlayışlı karşılıyorum.

Bana kalırsa Arap atçılığını çok da iyi idare ediyorlar. Biz Arap atçılığına uzun vadeli olarak bakıyoruz ve Türkiye’yi zorlamıyoruz ama iş birliği yaparak Arap atçılığına daha fazla katkı sağlayabiliriz.

WHERE ARE YOU PUTTING TURKEY IN THIS PROCESS? Turkey is number one in the world in many categories of PA Racing and Breeding… They have been regularly recording races and pedigrees for many years, the country with the most PA horses, the country with the most PA horse races, no one can ignore Turkey's position in Arabian racing & breeding industry. Turkey does not want Arabian horses to come from outside. Although many people are uncomfortable with this situation, I accept it with understanding. In my opinion, they manage PA racing & breeding very well. We look at PA racing in the long term and do not force Turkey, but we can contribute more to PA racing world by cooperating.

TÜRKİYE’NİN ARAP ATÇILIĞINDA, ULUSLARARASI ARENADA DAHA FAZLA AKTİF OLMASINI İSTER MİYDİNİZ? Türkiye’de binlerce Arap atı var ve bu Arap atçılığı için çok büyük bir değer.

Açıkçası Türkiye’deki gen çeşitliliği, global anlamda Arap atı yetiştiriciliğine çok büyük katkı sağlayacaktır ama bürokrasi çok yavaş işliyor. Mesela Turbo yıllardır Dünya genelinde aranılan bir aygırdı. Aygırlık hayatına başladıktan ancak 7-8 sene sonra dondurulmuş sperması yurtdışına çıkabildi ve onda da fiyatı piyasanın üzerindeydi. Bu işe bir yönüyle ticari olarak bakmaları lazım. İlk defa sattığınız bir ürün için piyasaya göre fiyatlandırma yapmanız lazım. Eğer Türkiye yurtdışı ile iş birliğini arttırırsa, eminim ki Dünya Arap atçılığında çok daha aktif bir rol üstlenecektir. Biz her zaman Türkler ile iş birliği yapmaya hazırız, yeter ki Arap atçılığına katkı sağlayalım.

TÜRKİYE’DEKİ YARIŞLARA SPONSOR OLMAK GİBİ BİR DÜŞÜNCENİZ VAR MI? Türkiye’ye yatırım yapmayı tabii ki istiyoruz ama uluslararası yarış yapılması lazım. Biz yarışlara sponsor olmaya hazırız ama bizim amacımız global olmak. Sponsor olduğumuz hiçbir ülkede yerel bir yarış seçmiyoruz, ilk kıstasımız uluslararası olmalı çünkü amacımız zaten global olmak. WOULD YOU WANT TURKEY TO BE MORE ACTIVE IN THE INTERNATIONAL ARENA IN ARABIAN RACING? There are thousands of Arabian horses in Turkey and this is a great value for the PA racing & breeding industry. Obviously, gene diversity in Turkey will contribute greatly to Arabian horse breeding globally, but bureaucracy works very slowly. For example, Turbo has been a sought-after stallion around the world for years. Only 7-8 years after he started his stud life, his frozen semen could go abroad and the price was above the market for him. They need to look at this business from a commercial point of view. For a product you sell for the first time, you need to value that according to the market. If Turkey increases its cooperation abroad, I am sure that it will take a much more active role in PA racing in the world. We are always ready to cooperate with Turkey, as long as we contribute to PA racing world.

DO YOU HAVE A THOUGHT OF SPONSORING THE RACES IN TURKEY? Of course, we want to invest in Turkey, but an international race is required. We are ready to sponsor the races, but our aim is to be global. We do not choose a local race in any country to be a sponsor for, our first criterion should be international because our goal is to be global anyway. If Turkey organizes some races in international status, we are always ready to support PA racing around the world and we will sponsor those races. Also, let me sincerely say that it is a great sadness for us not to be able to race there. I've been to Turkey (İstanbul) before. It is a very beautiful city and has a beautiful racecourse. Organizing a global race will please us as a sponsor, the participants, and I am sure Turkish race lovers and horsemen. Let me remind the authorities once again on the occasion of this interview. If a special international race is added to the race program, we are ready to contribute to Purebred Arabian racing in Turkey.

Bunlar gibi birçok tanımlama yapılabilir. Her at çok hızlı olmadığı gibi her yarış da aynı tadı vermez. Nasıl ki diğer sporlarda en iyilerin katıldığı global organizasyonlar varsa, at yarışlarında da en iyilerin olduğu bazı yarışlar vardır.

Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe da en iyilerin katıldığı yarışlardan birisidir. Her sene ekim ayının ilk pazar günü Longchamp Hipodromu’nda düzenlenen bu koşu, 2016 ve 2017 senelerinde bu hipodromun yenilenme çalışmaları sebebiyle, Chantilly hipodromunda koşulmuştu. Geçen sene pandemi sebebiyle kısıtlı sayıda izleyiciyle koşulan bu önemli yarış, bu sene izleyiciye açılırken aynı zamanda 100. yılı olması sebebiyle de büyük bir öneme sahipti. Many definitions like these can be made. Not every horse is very fast, and not every race tastes the same. Just as there are global organizations attended by the bests in other sports, these are the most-watched races in horse races.

Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is one of them. This race, which is held at the ParisLongchamp Racecourse on the first Sunday of October every year, took place at the Chantilly racecourse in 2016 and 2017 due to the renovation works of the racecourse. This important race took place with a limited number of spectators last year due to the pandemic, was also of great importance due to its 100th anniversary while it was opened to the audience this year. As the BOSPHORSE Media, we were in Paris to watch the weekend races, including the 100th Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

We also watched Purebred Arabian (PA) horse sales, races and the Jockey Club of Turkey race (G3) held at the Saint-Cloud Racecourse.

Bir gün önceki cuma günü ise bu hipodroma sadece 3 km uzaklıkta bulunan Saint-Cloud Hipodromu’nda Arap atlarına ait 2 Grup 1 ve İngiliz atlarına ait 1 Grup 3 ve 3 Listed yarış yapılmaktadır. Adeta hafta sonuna hazırlık olarak nitelendirilen bu yarış gününde, İngiliz atlarının en önemli mücadelesi G3 Prix Thomas Bryon, 2018 yılından beri TJK adına koşuyor.

Tüm bu önemli koşuların öncesinde ise Arap atçılığı için çok büyük önem taşıyan ARQANA Karışık Arap Atı satış organizasyonu da yine Saint-Cloud Hipodromu’nda perşembe günü düzenleniyor. Cumartesi akşamı ise yine bu hipodromda organize edilen idmandaki İngiliz atı satışları da büyük ilgi görüyor. Paris’te dolu dolu geçirebileceğiniz bu 4 günlük yolculuğumuzu, önümüzdeki yıllarda burada bulunmak isteyenler için de bir rehber olması düşüncesiyle, sizlere bir bütün olarak sunmak istedik.

Friday, 2 Group 1 races for PA horses and 1 Group 3 and 3 Listed races for Thoroughbreds are held at the Saint-Cloud Racecourse, which is only 3 km away from ParisLongchamp Racecourse.

On this race day, which is described as a preparation for the weekend, G3 Prix Thomas Bryon, the most important competition of Thoroughbreds on this day, has been running on behalf of the Jockey Club of Turkey (TJK) since 2018. Before all these important races, ARQANA Purebred Arabian Sale, which is of great importance for PA horse racing & breeding industry, was also held at the Saint-Cloud Racecourse. ARQANA The Arc Sale, where the horses in training are sold on Saturday evening, also attracts great attention. We wanted to present you this 4-day journey, which you can spend to the fullest in Paris, as a whole, with the idea of being a guide for those who want to be here in the coming years.

30 Eylül Perşembe günü ARQANA tarafından düzenlenen Arap atı satışlarına her sene olduğu gibi körfez ülkelerinden yoğun bir katılım vardı. 2005 yılından beri aralıksız olarak düzenlenen bu organizasyonda her yaşta endurans ve yarış atları birlikte satışa sunuluyorlar. Bu sene görücüye çıkan 100 atın 70’i satılırken, son 5 yılın en iyi ortalama satış fiyatı (28.471 €) gerçekleşti. Satışın en yüksek bedelle alıcı bulan tayı 230.000 € ile el değiştiren 2019 doğumlu Manabb (Mahabb-Nacree Al Maury/ Kesberoy) oldu. Bu tay, 2020 yılı Aralık sayımızda röportaj yaptığımız Alexandra Saint Martin’in danışmanı olduğu, International Thoroughbred Consultants (I.T.C) tarafından satın alındı.

Satışın kuşkusuz en popüler atı 54 Lot numarasıyla ringe çıkan 2009 ve 2010 World Arabian Cup galibi General’di (Amer-Al Hanoof/Manganate). General aynı yıllarda Türkiye’de katıldığı 2 Malazgirt koşularından birini kazanıp diğerinde de Turbo’ya (Rikardo-Gülbanaz/Özüşan) 2 boy farkla geçilmişti. Aygır’a 180.000 €’ya kadar fiyat teklifi gelse de satıcı tarafından belirlenen taban fiyata ulaşılmadığı için satılmadı.

Like every year, there was a great interest from the Gulf countries for the ARQANA’s PA Sale on Thursday, September 30th.

In this organization, which has been held continuously since 2005, endurance horses and racehorses of all ages are offered for sale together. 70 of the 100 horses that were offered for sale this year were sold, and the best average selling price of the last 5 years reached (€28,471). The most expensive horse of the sales was the 2019-born Manabb (Mahabb-Nacree Al Maury/Kesberoy). This colt was purchased by International Thoroughbred Consultants (I.T.C), of which Alexandra Saint Martin, whom we interviewed in our December 2020 issue, is a consultant. The 2009 and 2010 Arabian World Cup winner, General (Amer-Al Hanoof/Manganate) was surely the most popular horse of the sales. In those years, General participated in Malazgirt Stakes two times, won one of them and finished 2nd 2 lengths after Turbo (Rikardo-Gülbanaz/Özüşan) on another occasion. General received an offer of €180,000, but that was below the reserve price and he stayed with his owner.

Uzun yıllar Remazan Kaya’nın tay aldığı ARQANA Arap Atı Satışlarına son yıllarda Türk alıcılar ilgi göstermiyor. TİGEM yetkilileri ile yaptığımız görüşmelerde, bu satışlara mutlaka katılım gösterilmesi gerektiği yönündeki fikrimizi ilettik. Önümüzdeki sene bu satışlarda olmayı planlayacaklarını söylediler. Türkiye’deki Arap Atçılığının yurtdışına açılması için önemli bir adım olacağını düşündüğümüz bu katılım, yurtdışında da büyük bir ilgi ile karşılanacaktır.

Dondurulmuş aygır sperması konusunda önemli bir seviyeye gelen TİGEM’in bu tür uluslararası etkinliklerde daha fazla yer alması, Arap atı ihracat ve ithalatına çok önemli katkı sağlayacaktır.

In recent years, Turkish buyers have not shown any interest in ARQANA Arabian Horse Sales, where Remazan Kaya bought horses for years. In the meetings we held with TİGEM (The General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises) officials, it was stated that these sales will definitely be a subject of interest next year.

This participation, which we think will be an important step for the PA Racing & Breeding in Turkey to expand abroad, will also be met with great interest abroad. TIGEM has reached an important level in the frozen stallion semen, and its participation in such international events will make a significant contribution to the export and import of Arabian horses.

TJK MARKS ITS STAMP AT THE SAINT-CLOUD RACECOURSE On Friday, October 1, the races that will last for 3 days in Paris were started with the races held at the Saint-Cloud Racecourse.

Although the TJK Stakes was held on different dates and in different statuses in previous years, it has been organized as a G3 race before the Arc weekend since 2018. 2-year-old Thoroughbreds’ G3 Prix Thomas Bryon-Jockey Club de Turquie ran at 1400 meters in the first two years and has been running at 1600 meters on turf in the last 2 years.

Maxime Guyon’un bindiği dişi tay, son 400’deki etkili atakları sonucu koşuyu çok az farkla kazanırken. 9 tayın katıldığı mücadelede bitiriş derecesi 2:22.37 oldu. İlk 4 atın potoya birlikte girdiği koşuda sıralama, Sahab (Af Albahar-Manella/ Dormane) ikinci, Monda (No Risk Al Maury-Mhaya/Njewman) üçüncü ve Al Wakrah (TM Fred Texas-Majida/Majd Al Arab) dördüncü şeklinde oluştu.

G1 Qatar Arabian Trophy Des Pouliches, organized for 3-year-old fillies, was held on turf, at 2000 meters. Image Du Croate (Munjiz-Beanie Du Croate/Dahess), who came to this race as a maiden horse, won her first race. The filly, ridden by Maxime Guyon, narrowly won the race because of his effective attacks in the last 400 meters. The finishing time was 2:22.37 in the 9-horse race. Sahab (Af Albahar-Manella/Dormane) finished 2nd, Monda (No Risk Al Maury-Mhaya/ Njewman) 3rd and Al Wakrah (TM Fred Texas-Majida/Majd Al Arab) 4th in the narrowly finished race.

ŞİMDİ PARISLONGCHAMP ZAMANI 2 Ekim Cumartesi günü ise heyecan, Saint-Cloud Hipodromu’ndan ParisLongchamp’a geçti. Biz de heyecana ara vermeyip, basın tribünündeki yerimizi erkenden aldık. Yenilenmiş haliyle 2018 yılında açılan Longchamp, çok geniş bir alana yayılmış mimarisi ile harika bir atmosfere sahip. Hipodromun her bölgesi at yarışlarına dair poster, heykel ve sanat eserleriyle dolu. Modernleştirilmiş mimarisine rağmen tarihi yapısını korumaya devam ediyor! Pandemi’nin etkisi azalmış görünse de kapıda çok kapsamlı kontroller yapılıyor. 100. kez koşulacak Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe için ekstra bir organizasyon yok ama bu hipodromda sadece padoğu izlemek bile yeterince heyecanlı…

Another important race of the day was for 3-year-old PA colts and ran at 2000 meters, on turf and the winner clocked 2:20.21. Hargan (Al MamunMonlau-Mkeefa/Amer) came to this race with 2 of 2 and tried to win the race with a wire-to-wire performance but was beaten by Christophe Soumillon mount Moshrif (Dahess-Tashreefat/Bengali D’Albert) and had to settle with 2nd place. Ahırlar sadece yarışlara hazırlık amacıyla kullanıldığından, içerde yemlik ve su bölümleri bulunmuyor. Zeminlerine ise antrenör tercihlerine göre ot, saman, talaş veya kağıt yayılıyor. İşin mutfağı olarak adlandırılan bu bölüm o kadar güzel tasarlanmış ki, kalabalığa rağmen atların neredeyse tamamı çok sakin bir şekilde yarışı bekleyebiliyorlar. Ödül törenleri padok içerisinde gerçekleştiriliyor. Jokey odası ve basın merkezi de padoğun hemen dibinde olunca, törenler ve röportajlar için yeteri kadar zaman kalıyor.

Yenilenmiş hipodrom tam anlamıyla dolu olsa da padoğun etrafında ve yan taraflarında hipodromun keyfini çıkarabileceğiniz restaurant ve cafeler mevcut. Adeta bir müzik festivali havasına uygun alanların da bulunduğu hipodromda, hiç yarış seyretmeden bile çok keyifli vakit geçirebileceğiniz bir ortam var. Padok, ahırlar ve tribünler arasında koşuştururken Gazi Koşusu’nun 100. Yılının (2026) yenilenmiş tribün ve eklentileriyle Veliefendi Hipodromu’nda yapıldığını düşündüm. Ne muhteşem olurdu… Umarım her şey yolunda gider ve 100. Yıl Gazi Koşusu’nu, yenilenmiş tribün ve eklentileriyle misafirlerini ağırlayan, Veliefendi Hipodromu’nda izlerken bu yazdıklarımı hatırlarım.

4 ve yukarı yaşlıların ilk iki sırayı elde ettiği koşuda sonraki dört sırayı 3 yaşlıların paylaşması “rövanşta ne olur?” sorusunu da beraberinde getirdi. Her yönüyle merak edilen koşudan, sürpriz bir sonuç; Turquator Tasso (Adlerflug-Tijuana/ Toylsome) çıktı… Alman yarış ve yetiştiriciliği adına büyük bir başarıya imza atan bu safkanı ve kazandığı yarışı ayrıntılarıyla anlatacağız ama önce, Fransızların “bu bir yarış değil, bu bir anıt” dedikleri koşunun tarihinden ve günümüzden kısaca söz edelim.

Kazanan safkan, Believe In Love (Make Believe-Topka/ Kahyasi) ile son 300’de girdiği mücadelede en az iki kez geçilecek gibi oldu ama direndi, teslim olmadı ve zafere ulaştı… ŞOV BAŞLIYOR Mitingin ikinci günü daha çok izleyici ve daha çok yağmur vardı… Çim pistin ölçüm değeri ilk gün 3,9 olarak açıklanmıştı ama 4. koşudan itibaren başlayan yağış gece boyu aralıklarla da devam edince, pazar günü açıklanan ilk değer 5,4 oldu, daha sonra 4,2 olarak düzeltildi. Her iki günde de koşu saatlerindeki yağış, pisti daha da ağırlaştırıyordu. Bu nedenle koşu derecelere fazla takılmamak gerek… Buna karşın, temmuz ayında kapatılan, pistin iç kısmındaki 6 metrelik bölüm pazar günü açıldı.

100. Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe beklendiği gibi başladı ve son düzlüğe kadar da olağandışı bir durum yoktu. Startla birlikte ilk göze çarpan, Adayar’ın ekürisine avantaj sağlamak için değil, kendi şansını arttırmak için “adil tempo” ile koşmasıydı. İlk metrelerde Coolmore temsilcisi Broome (Australia-Sweepstake/Acclamation) öne çıktı, Adayar ile Chrono Genesis’in ondan liderliği almaları ilk 800 metre geçilmeden gerçekleşti. Tuncaybeyim’in baba kardeşi 3 yaşındaki dişi tay Bornovalım (Baba Mevlüt-Cemresu/ Antepli), G1 Cahide Koşusu’nun galibi. Gece Işığı’nın ana-baba kardeşi Sürgüntay ise; G1 Cumhuriyet, Çanakkale Zaferi, Kanuni Sultan Süleyman, G2 Aziziye ve Sultansuyu Tarım İşletmesi koşularını kazandı ve 2019 yılının Şampiyon 3 Yaşlı Arap Tayı olmuştu.

Bredy by the Anadolu, Sultansuyu and Karacabey Agricultural Farms, 50 selected 2-year-old purebred Arabian colts were sold with organizations held on different days.

The first sale was organized by the Sultansuyu Agricultural Farm on 28 September and 14 colts were sold for TL4,630,000, and with a TL331,429 average price. Cengaver Tay (Özgünhan-Serapkız/Antepli) was the most expensive colt of this Farms’ sale with a TL680,000 hammer price. His half sister by Özduran (Bilgin-Aybastı/Sülo), Hadrakız has 6 wins on Elazığ Racecourse’s dirt track.

The Anadolu Farm offered 18 colts for sale and buyers paid TL8,630,000 in total, and the average price for a colt was TL479,444 TL. The TL1,2 million purchase Cevhertay (Ayabakan-Fazilet/Bamka.3) was the most expensive colt of the sale. The full brother of this 2-year-old colt, Sakarbaşı had 6 wins, 6 runner-ups in his 13 starts through his 2 and 3-year-old journey. G1 Haralar, G2 Karacabey Farm, Mohaç, G3 N.Fazıl Kısakürek Stakes were among Sakarbaşı’s victories. Sakarbaşı was sent to stud and his first-crops will run in the 2023 season. Demirberke (Turbo-Badekızım/Demirkazık) was the 2nd most expensive colt of Anadolu Farm and TIGEM sales with his TL900,000 hammer price. The last sale of 2021 was organized by Karacabey Farm on 26 October. Buyers paid TL8,390,000 in total for 18 colts and the average price was TL466,111. Tuncaybeyim (Baba Mevlüt-Bilnaz/Bilgin) with TL780,000 and Gece Işığı (Sonalp-Benil/ Ağa Karaca) with TL700,000 were the most expensive colts of the sale. Tuncabeyim’s half-sister Bornovalım (Baba Mevlüt-Cemresu/Antepli) is a G1 Cahide Stakes winner. Gece Işığı’s full-brother Sürgüntay is a G1 Republic, Çanakkale Victory, Kanuni Sultan Süleyman, G2 Aziziye and Sultansuyu Farm Stakes winner and was the champion 3-year-old purebred Arabian horse of the year in 2019.
