Over the past several years, it has been my privilege to update you — our most loyal and generous supporters — each Spring on our progress as a school community. It is with a tremendous sense of appreciation and excitement that I report to you that Bosco Tech is strong — and getting even stronger. There is much to be proud of at Tech, and this update will highlight just a few of the happenings that are made possible through your continued support.
“WITH GOLDEN DREAMS AND HOPES ABOUNDING.” – MEMO GUTIERREZ, AU ’83
Remembering Our Own. We’d like to honor one of our most loyal and passionate supporters who left us too early. In mid-February, our community was shocked by the tragic passing of Bishop David O’Connell. Bishop Dave was not just a Board member at Bosco Tech, but a major proponent of our Strategic Planning process and our renewed commitment to the long-term future of our school. He loved our school, our boys, and wanted nothing more than to see us succeed. On March 5th, Bishop Dave’s loyal support group, the Unfriendly Sons of St. Patrick came together with the Bosco Tech community to honor his legacy. The O’Connell family — from Ireland and Australia — was also in attendance. This event was the largest fundraiser in school history, bringing 330 people to our campus and raising over $275,000 for our boys. I hope you were able to attend, but if not, we sincerely hope to welcome you to campus next year. Facilities Transformation. We were blessed to undergo a full renovation of our administrative
lobby in the summer of 2022, transforming the space into a welcoming environment that showcases the innovation of a Tech school and the foundation of our Catholic, Salesian community. We are grateful to the Dan Murphy and Bill Hannon Foundations, whose gifts allowed for this renovation. Professional Development. As part of our strategic plan, the school made a commitment to invest in a meaningful professional development program for our faculty and staff. To date, we have welcomed four guest speakers and placed special emphasis on the social and emotional impact of the pandemic, screen time and healthy online habits, the college application process, and teaching/ parenting during anxious times. Additionally, our campus ministry team constructed two impactful faculty retreats based on Salesian education. This programming has been made possible by the generosity of our donor community, and has had a profound impact on faculty cohesion and the educational program at Tech. (CONTINUED)
