Message from the Principal
by Bosco Tech
Dear Bosco Tech Family
In referring back to materials for the Tech’s upcoming WCEA/ WASC Mid-Term Accreditation visit, I had the opportunity to look back on objectives we set a few years back, and to reflect on how far we’ve come in those intervening years.
While it has not been without challenges, we’ve continually refined our time-honored program. Through it, it seems we’ve gone from strength to strength and our students have thrived; I’m confident that the visiting review team will witness a strong community of instructors, staff, and families who prioritize the well being of young people while challenging them to do and become their very best in obtaining their educational goals.
Among some of the things I’d like to bring to your attention this month is the newly instituted Student of the Month program that recognizes exemplary young men for their dedication to their studies, their work ethic, and their instructional achievement. Based upon teachers’ monthly nominations of outstanding young people, we will spotlight students for the remainder of the school year.
Please let me remind you of a few upcoming events:
Wednesday, February 8 Junior Retreat and Unity Ceremony. After spending a day in communal prayer and bonding, the Class of 2024 will celebrate that evening with family members for the memorable Junior Unity Ceremony at 6 p.m.
Friday, February 10 Re-Enrollment deadline for 2023-2024 academic year. Please refer to information on page 10 of this issue of The Gear.
Sunday, March 5 We’ll again celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Tech Trustee Bishop David O’Connell and his loyal and welcoming friends. Come enjoy delicious Irish fare, sample a wee dram o’ whiskey, and bid on amazing auction items, all while helping our Tech students.
There really is so much going on at this time of year; our seniors are receiving exciting college acceptances every day, while our Admissions Department is assembling the future Bosco Tech graduating class of 2027. Please know it is my continual prayer that each student we are blessed with would thrive academically, socially, and spiritually during their years on our campus, and that the Salesian educational system would inspire them throughout their lives, as it has for me.
God bless you and your family, Jeff Krynen (BT ‘81)
