“The lessons I learned at Bosco Tech have always stayed with me and inspired me to make a difference.”
For so many of us, our years at Bosco Tech shaped the adults we’ve become. Our personal and professional choices have been influenced by lessons learned here—chief among them: to give back, to step up, to be the difference we want to see.
As Bosco Tech marks its 70th year of leadership in our community, we reflect with gratitude on all that was instilled in us during those formative years. Now, more than ever, it’s up to us—together—to ensure that future generations have the same opportunities.
There are many ways to give back. Financial contributions are vital, but just as impactful are the Techmen who return as teachers, mentors, leaders, and volunteers. Countless alumni support today’s students in dynamic, creative, and resourceful ways—each showing that they are truly, and proudly, “Built by Tech.”

“The Tech shaped who I am. The friendships, the challenges, and the pride stays with you. Supporting future students is my way of saying thank you and building it forward.”

Russell Wong (AU ’77)
Following a successful career with Edison International, Russell Wong has poured countless hours into supporting Bosco Tech and encouraging fellow alumni to do the same.
A member of both the Tech’s Board of Trustees and the Alumni Association Board, Russell travels to regional gatherings of Techmen to inspire engagement and participation.
Rudy Herrera (AU ‘80)
Dedicated alumnus Rudy Herrera is quite simply a Tech legacy. He has served as a spiritual guide, teacher, father figure, older brother, friend, and mentor to Techmen for 40 years, spanning five decades of graduating classes.
Throughout his time on campus, Rudy has steadfastly remained dedicated to helping students grow in faith, character, leadership and brotherhood.

“So many have guided and sacrificed for us that I feel we have to pay it forward. Bosco has been the place where I can do that, every day.”
Ricardo Mireles (EL ’83)
Founder of a successful Los Angeles charter school, Ricardo Mireles has also supported the modernization of IT systems in the LAUSD. At Bosco Tech, he serves as moderator and active advisor of the school’s popular Car Club, which regularly competes in “24 Hours of LeMons” —a grueling event where creativity, resourcefulness, and teamwork are tested under pressure. The experience teaches students valuable lessons in collaboration, strategy, and engineering.

“To be of service to others is what I learned from the Salesian and lay teachers at the Tech. The relationship with my alumni classmates over 40 years has continued this lifetime of learning to serve. I give to Bosco Tech so young people can learn the message of St. John Bosco.”
