INFINITO is completed with Charlie Jiang, Christian Icuspit, William Zhuang, Andrew Lee, and Karim Kandil. This is the first project I lead and managed as an fine art student. It is also the first built project for the team members.
The INFINITO tunnel portrays the possibility to reconnect with people intimately after the COVID-19 pandemic. The tunnel seemlessly adds an interactive social element to Stephen Avenue, attracting visitors of all ages to be curious and playful with the structure. Pedesitrians can see, touch and feel the tunnel. It provides a natural barrier-free pathway that shields them from overbearing skyscrapers, reducing the scale of the surrounding down to a intimate level.
Through out the process we learned to use many tools and construction techniques and working efficiently as a team to resolve concerns identified by the city and constantly revise our proposal to meet the engineering requirement without departing too much from the proposed design.
The interior is inspired by the effect of traveling at the speed of light through hyper space, referencing the ability to catch up to all the social life that we missed during the pandemic lockdown. As we look up, the infinity mirror symbolizes the infinite possibility that awaits us.
As the project lead of the team, I was heavily involved in every step of the development process, from concept creations, site analysis, rendering, engineering, progress monitoring, time management to fabrication. All the visual representation of the project is completed by me and edited by Christian using Revit, Rhino, Lumion, and Photoshop.
The tunnel’s opening orientation flows with the existing traffic without obstructing pedestrian travel. The width of the space allows couples to walk through intimately and is accessible to wheeled devices.
Each module are themed to encourage playfulness with the stucture, motivating intimate moments. The Calgary tower represents the city’s connection to the rocky mountains aimed towards 40 above age group. The flowers are abstracted from Alberta’s wild roses aimed towards 15 - 30 age group, and the cartoon bears gathers children below age 15.

FOAMCHE is a domestic object that challenges the boundary between privacy and publicity by exploring two driving words: INSULATION and RESPONSIVENESS. These two terms are extracted from the essence of a Sofa and a Closet, informing domesticity through the analysis of precedent homes. The Sofa is found in a public space, while the closet is typically found in bedrooms. The combination of these two contrasting objects creates a function that permits interchangeability between private and public domestic spaces.
At its core, FOAMCHE embodies the concepts of “insulation” and “responsiveness.” While “insulation” suggests a need for privacy and separation, “responsiveness” denotes adaptability and engagement with the surrounding environment. This dual nature enables FOAMCHE to seamlessly transition between intimate, secluded spaces and open, communal settings, empowering users to shape their domestic environment according to their needs and preferences.

“TERRAJACKER” stems from the building’s spaceship-like shape, symbolizing its role in ‘hijacking’ the urban space and utilizing the existing fabric as resources to address the site’s urban issues. This transformative approach reflects the project’s ethos of innovation and adaptive reuse, envisioning a future where architecture seamlessly integrates with its surroundings to create a more vibrant and sustainable urban environment.” It emerges as a pioneering architectural venture at the crossroads of Scarth Street, 17th Avenue, and 15th Street, poised to redefine the urban landscape through an innovative interplay of soft and hard elements. With its exterior characterized by soft, organic forms that evoke a sense of drama and dynamism, “TERRAJACKER” deftly juxtaposes this aesthetic with an interior defined by clean lines and functionalist design principles. This deliberate tension between fluidity and rigidity sets the stage for an immersive spatial experience that challenges conventional notions of space.

In the summer of 2020. I was given the opportunity to design the interior of a newly bought compact apartment suite for my family relative. The 231 sqft unit has all the amneties on the mainfloor and the bedroom on the second floor.
She requested to have a Japanese inspired style, using wood, and have sufficient storage space as a rental unit for two people. The existing space does not have any storage on the mainfloor and not enough cabinets in the kitchen. My proposal involves maximizing the storage space without reducing surface area and keeping the design aligned with the current Chinese market.
As a result, the interior exhibits a minimal palette, white, bamboo, gray furniture, green, and the use of mirror at the storage wall to create an depth illusion in the tight space. The addition of LED ambient light strips along the hall enhances the bamboo’s presence, creating a warm and homey environment.
The home is a mountain retreat designed for a nature lover, located on an island surrounded with mountains. It features a contemporary cobination of walnut wood, stone and concrete. Its layered roof creates dynamism. Moreover, the expansive balcony and patio encourages outdoor activities, accessible in every direction of the home. From choosing the location to designing the layout, I constantly ask myself, how can the home permit the occupant to embrace all of its surrounding wonders. As a result, the home’s windows and doors opened up to sceneries, making the entire floor plan open as possible.
The south side features a infinity pool hanging on top of a waterfall that travels down to a lake. The west side has a roof over benches that over look the setting sun, the the east balcony glances at the rising sun. Overall, this is a resort packed with entertainment spaces like pool table, indoor gym, inifinity pool, and four social lounge.
The Master bedroom on the third floor can see every direction of the home, there is no limitation to the surrounding scenery. GROUND LEVEL
Graphics Studio II required student to study an assigned precedent multi-residential apartment to aid the later grasshopper and rendering project.
The precendent study required student to study and replicate orthographic drawing through creating a 3D model in Rhino and extracting unique floor plans, elevations, axonometric section, and section plans. Later, they are asked to analyze the mechanicism or driver of the precedent project through a series of analytical diagram that showcases the progression of the project’s development or the transformation of its massing.
Finally, using the diagrams developed to create renderings through blender and script different iterations of the massing using grasshopper.
Materials: Recycled cardboard, copper sheet, floral cat figure, dragon charm, shoe laces, strings, paper.
The model delivers the concept of fengshui and bring awareness to the interactions between the different dimensions. The design process considers the interconnection between the material world and the spiritual realm. The form is shaped by the understanding of matter’s vibrational energy.
The vibration of the spiritual entities directly influence the functioning of physical matter, from large to microbes. Its vibrating frequency can change the structure of matter, mutilate matter, reconstruct, heal, or destroy. Energy is indestructible.
The home is in the middle between Ying and Yang. Similar to our realm we live intertwined with the spiritual world, and we seek a balance between the two.
The map informs the flow of energy, Ying-Yang, and how the form of the building should respond to the flow of energy. How do we create forms that counters vibrations and frequency harmful to the occupants’ well-being?
