Dear AdP Colleagues, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all your strong contributions throughout this year. The success of the Anderson Plant is built on the efforts of all of us. During this past year, we faced many challenges, but at the same time have enjoyed many successes.

On behalf of the Anderson Plant Management, I extend my personal and genuine appreciation to each and every one of you for your dedication and commitment. We managed to save costs in all areas that we could which contributed significantly in improving the financial situation of Bosch overall.

In the shop floor area, we introduced many more methods and standards. This improved utilization and productivity and has reduced defect costs. We also achieved many milestones towards governmental funding of new products for the Anderson Plant.

We welcomed many visitor groups from different Bosch business units throughout the year, and they gave us nothing but positive feedback about the Anderson Plant. During these visits, we showed achievements in our figures and improvements in shop floor processes. Based on these impressions, AdP strengthens its role within the production network. This is extremely important for our future development.

It is a true pleasure to see how you as a team provided tremendous support. Everyone mastered the challenges we faced from the market, economy and transformation of the automation industry.

I believe that we are able to do this through our very strong AdP Strategy– Agile driven Positive– which we all support in our every day activities to achieve excellence for future growth.

As your new technical plant manager, thank you for the very warm welcome and the extremely strong support in all areas. Working with you all has been a big pleasure! On behalf of the Anderson Plant Management we are proud to have you all as part of the team.

Please enjoy the holiday season with your loved ones and families.

Suzana Cizmic (AdP/PC) Visits Washington D.C.!

Suzana Cizmic

Our Bosch colleagues from the government affair office, Ana Meuwissen (C/CGA2-NA) and Meredith Kling (C/CGA2-NA), invited AdP Plant Management to represent Bosch in a meeting with Dr. Volker Wissing, Germany’s Federal Minister for Digital and Transport on October 25th, 2023. Discussion was centered around the market access opportunities and prospects for German companies in the United States, with a focus on the transportation sector and digital economy. Other German companies who operate in U.S. also took part in the discussions.

Ana and Meredith were very kind to organize meetings with our government officials from South Carolina. We met with representatives from the office of U.S. Senator Tim Scott and U.S. Congressmen Jeff Duncan. The meetings were positive, and they were very supportive of Bosch and Bosch Anderson Plant and our focus on growth in Anderson County and South Carolina.

Meetings also took place with representatives from the Fuel Cell Hydrogen and Energy Association (FCHEA on how to bring awareness in the supply chain regarding the possibilities for manufacturing in the H2 Industry. They were very impressed with the capabilities of the Anderson Plant and expressed an interest to visit our plant in 2024!

LFS Released as Supplier for Ford — Sharonville Plant Mauricio Leao (AdP/ LOP1)

MOE 1

Exploring alternatives to protect AdP from market fluctuations, Anderson was released as a supplier of LFS for Ford’s Sharonville plant. During the month of July, in conjunction with the Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics departments, we produced and delivered the necessary samples for this release.

Currently, Anderson is in discussion with the Business Units about fully utilizing capacity in Anderson, for which the release is a large enabler.

MOE1 Bids Farewell to Kraig Miller Kraig Miller started at Bosch as a Co-Op in 2005. He worked in MOE1, but MOE1 was not as we know it today. Back then, it was Wheel Speed Sensors. The following year, this line was sent to SlpP, and the new MOE1 then became known as TEHCM. Kraig was hired on direct to Bosch (AdP) in 2006 and has been in MOE1 ever since. Including his time as a Co-op, Kraig has worked for MOE1 for 18 years!!!

Starting out as a laser weld engineer, Kraig developed as a MFE Team Leader and Manager. His expertise was instrumental in the successful launches of the EM-L (2014) and LFS (2018) production lines.

We would like to recognize Kraig’s dedication and the impact he’s had on the MOE1 team throughout the years.

MOE1 prides itself in its sense of “Family”. The recent news of Kraig moving to MOE3 (LTCC) came as a shock to all of us, and even saddened us a bit. However, as with all families, changes happen and are even expected. We are excited for Kraig and his new journey.

Why have Recognition and Achievement Boards?

—The boards improve morale and happiness throughout the department. It increases our productivity and engagement along with improving our team culture (We Are Bosch!). Because of the boards the retention of our quality employees has increased because it promotes a positive work environment– helping to avoid burnout. The hand written notes are highly valued among the department and have made an unforgettable impact.

As you might have seen, we have some new additions to the production areas for MOE3 equipment! LTCC/cofire is running the new Viafill 5 machine since July. DSP/postfire has the new RTL8 and new break station to support the upcoming HNX production. We are excited about these additions to support further production in LTCC!

MOE 4 G.O.A.T. Awards!

In MOE4, the EGSPM team has engaged in a friendly OEE competition between the different shifts on the Final Assembly side.

We began this challenge in July 2023 and were quickly impressed with the improvement in the performance across the various shifts during that month. At the end of the month, our 2 nd shift team (led by GL: Kadjiah Clark and LL: Damarka Aiken) were awarded the G.O.A.T. trophy and surprised with the G.O.A.T. mascot along with various leaders from MFE, MFO, LOP, TEF, and QMM and the MFE/MFO Managers and MOE Director. Overall, the competition was quite close and in general we saw an improvement in the July OEE for the Value Stream!

We are continuing to challenge the shifts with OEE in August and are planning to issue the challenge for iDC in September. Thank you to all the EGSPM team!

On the path to improvement it is important to celebrate the achievements you make along the way. On July 20th, the PSE leadership team served the associates a celebratory meal.

With this, the PSE leadership team wanted to say “Thank you” to everyone in MOE5, but also to all the support departments that helped being successful and achieving record results.

Due to the engagement of our associates, MOE5 achieved a record low scrap result in

in August with 6.7%. This has never been achieved in the entire PSE history.

“We are very proud of the entire team and thankful for all the efforts, contributions and all the hard work”, Stefan said.

Looking into the 4th quarter of 2023, PSE is facing a huge increase in the customer demands especially from UAES. This huge demand will continue and even further increase in 2024.

For this, over 27 operators and technicians will be hired to make those volumes happen.

Despite those increasing volumes and the delivery pressure, it is very important to continue with the focus on scrap reduction and further improve the MOE5 scrap performance . This is the path to Excellence and the chance for further growth in PSE and to achieve our Vision of 5% iDC in 2030.

The PSE value stream has an outstanding team and with this team, we will get there.

Leading the way with GM VCU! Andrew Jewell (AdP/MFW6-1)

We formed a Global team that came together in AdP for multiple workshops where we were able to really get the “We are Bosch” ball rolling. Teams from Germany, Malaysia, Michigan and former XC associates assembled in AdP for a twoweek workshop. We discussed all the issues, developed solutions, and steered the course to right the ship.

MOE 6

Wow, what a year MOE6 has had! The GM VCU is one of AdP’s newest products. VCU’s (Vehicle Cockpit Units) are used to control the infotainment devices in a new GM vehicle.

Navigation, Dashboard items, Apple CarPlay and Google Play - you name it, we have it. The launch of VCU presented many challenges. We started the year with less than a 60% first pass yield (FPY) and grew our blocked stock to nearly $5 million as a result. We had no way to recover/rework failed units.

As a result of this collaborative effort we were adopted as a global test table standard, increased FPY into the 70% range, and AdP began steering the VCU download process with the teams in Penang and Wujin plants. After all the hard work, we had a chance for redemption this past September. Since we hit a daily target of 3900 parts per day in our last run at rate (R@R) we are now exempt from the December R@R giving us some much-needed breathing room!

Thanks to the entire XC team for the GREAT WORK! We achieved an important milestone for AdP and for our customer.

Special thanks to Chris Echter, Heber Acuna, Tom Chapman, Mack Self and the TEF6 Tech team for all the hard work you put in to help get our systems in place to make this happen.

XC - we have a bright future with many challenges ahead next year. We will face them together because “We are Bosch”!

What’s Happening in MOE7? Patty Stamey (AdP/PJ-MOE7) Big News! In July 2023, AdP was selected as the North American manufacturing site for Bosch Hydrogen Electrolyzers!

•

An Electrolyzer uses pure water and electricity to generate hydrogen. If the electricity comes from a renewable energy source, like solar or wind, then the hydrogen produced is considered “green”.

•

As you may have seen from the Bosch Zuender or Bosch Tech Day 2023, Bosch considers green hydrogen as “essential in many sectors for a climate-neutral future” and is bringing to market a full suite of H2 products including water purification systems, electrolyzers and fuel cell power modules with integrated fuel cell stacks.

The MOE7 team is pleased to have the following associates join our team in January 2024, to support Electrolyzer equipment and process planning.

Sara Crozier joins the team as a Manufacturing Engineer. She brings strong experience in automotive manufacturing and quality engineering, most recently from the MFE4 PM Pre-assembly Line.

Josh Lee joins the team as a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer. Josh brings a wealth of controls and programming expertise – most recently from MFE4 – to guide the planning of MOE7 processes and equipment.

Derek Stellwagen joins the team as a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer. Derek recently returned from an assignment in Reutlingen, Germany, and brings to the team broad experience in the areas of equipment design, equipment planning/procurement and component cleaning.

 We continue to remain strong in meeting our Safety Targets and ended Q2 of this year with no lost time incidents.

 Remember that improperly clearing machine jams are the cause of many of our Near Misses. If you are ever unsure of what to do in a situation, please ask your supervisor. Also, please remember being aware of your surroundings is key to reducing accidents.  Looking down at your phone while walking and listening to music through earbuds is a common form of distraction. Please continue to obey the Bosch AdP mobile device policy.

How can you contribute?

-Complete hazard reports and idea cards -Join a safety team -Participate in Gemba walks -Perform regular process confirmations

We are looking for new HazMat members. We especially need volunteers for off-shift. If you are interested, contact the HSE department.

Logistics and the UAW Strike Madison Speck (AdP/LOP4)

These last few weeks have been very busy ones for our Logistics team here in Anderson, and there has been one word at the crux of all our issues: strike. In September, UAW decided to go on strike, which impacted some of our largest OE customers here in North America: Ford, GM and Stellantis.

This created its own unique challenge for our team, and despite the strike lasting more than a month, our plant saw very

minimal overall impacts due to the preparedness of our task force team. They kept management appraised of any and all changes and coordinated with the finished goods planners to react to any impacts as soon as possible.

Overall, it took a lot of hard work and dedication by our proud Logistics team, and when the strike finally came to a final res-

olution, we were able to start up without issue.

AdP has gained approval to launch an “AdP Machine Build Team” as an in-house resource to secure successful

this machine build team from 2023 through 2026 to secure a successful product launch and demonstrate that AdP should be the preferred North American site for additional new products moving into the future. We will grow a team of Engineers and Technicians in both mechanical and electrical focus areas with experience and expertise in machine design, safety, automation, controls, and specialized process technologies, such as Robotics, Vision, Lasers, Leak Testing, etc. In addition, the machine build team will provide AdP with a team of on -site experts to help in resolving technical issues impacting our existing processes and equipment to drive AdP continuous improvement and reliability. After a preliminary round of budgeting our team led intensive reviews with our internal and external stakeholder to finalize our budget for 2024.

CTG1 Kicked off New AP Core Team!

A cross-functional team was assembled to help address issues we see in the Accounts Payable area. This will enhance information sharing within the plant and save Bosch time and effort but putting experts in contact with one another.

Upcoming activities for the team: Costing 2024 (In-progress)

Year – End

Based on the defined budgets, our CTG2 team members are currently calculating the unit cost for all of our Products for 2024 in SAP. This process is targeted for completion on December 1st and will be released in SAP on January 1st.

As we move into December, our CTG1 and CTG2 teams will prepare for a smooth year-end. We ensure all costs are accounted for correctly in 2023 to avoid year-over-year impacts.

As we head into the final quarter of the year, it is important to look back at our accomplishments. Quality is a responsibility that is shared by everyone in the plant. Let’s keep making great achievements together.

•

In January, 75% of the 8D’s were closed over 180 days. There has been a steady improvement to August where 100% were closed before 180 days and none that were over 180 days.

•

PS and AE: Bosch responsible zero mileage incidents were down 10% vs 2022 as of August.

•

30% increase in eLPC completion since January 2023.

•

Shainin Certification is at 65% on track to 100% by YE.

•

34 Quality Stars recognized in MOE4 and 77 in MOE5.

Congratulations to Mike Stimens on his recent promotion to Lead Technician in QMM2. He will continue his current supporting T93 warranty analysis in addition to being the lead technician. Mike has 33 years of service at AdP. We wish him much success in his new role!
