OUR MEDITATIVE CONNECTION TO THE GROUND

This project is about creating an audience for the natural theatre where light exhibits its performance, by creating an emotional journey that forces people to dwell in their environment, observe and experiment with light in a different sensory way.
The relaxing atmosphere of the forest is mainly introduces by the special lighting found on site, where a delicate and elegant dance of shadows emerges when natural sunlight filters through the trees.
A specific mushroom bed is designed to observe these meditative play of light rays.

A proposal for an art hub for Waltham Forest’s art grant in Lea Bridge on a former gasholder site. The project includes two buildings: a studio vessel and an exhibition vessel. The project explores flexible spaces responding to the climate emergency. The buildings are split into thermal zones which can be varied corresponding to the time of the day and season.
