News Good news for Championships!

BRC The campaign opens with the Mid Wales Stages, using the legendary forests of Myherin and Hafren that test the world's best drivers each year on Wales Rally GB. A visit to Belfast after Easter allows crew to test themselves against the FIA European Rally Championship's top stars on the UK's second biggest stage rally, the Circuit of Ireland, before returning to Carlisle for the first of four longstanding BRC events, the Pirelli Rally. Having tackled Kielder over the Bank Holiday weekend, the BRC crews will take on the Borders' asphalt for the Jim Clark Rally at the end of May. The Scottish Rally occupies its traditional date at the end of June, before an eight-week gap to the championship's second visit to Northern Ireland for the Ulster Rally in August. The season will conclude with a journey north for the end of year celebrations at the Granite City Rally in Aberdeen, which put on such a great show earlier this year. The inclusion of a made-for-TV one-day special event remains a possibility for 2016, subject to discussions with broadcast partners and securing a suitable venue/date. 2016 British Rally Championship provisional calendar* March 5th/6th 2016: Mid Wales Stages (Gravel) April 8th/9th 2016: Circuit of Ireland (Asphalt) April 29th/30th 2016: Pirelli Rally (Gravel) May 27th/28th 2016: Jim Clark Rally (Asphalt) June 24th/25th 2016: RSAC Scottish Rally (Gravel) August 19th/20th 2016: Ulster Rally (Asphalt) September 9th/10th 2016 Granite City Rally (Gravel)

Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship

The Border Motor Club rally the TJS Self Drive Alan Healy Memorial Stages will be a round of the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship. The 2016 Calendar is provisionally:

The championship is already filling up well and is shaping up to be very competitive with some very competitive machinery entering. The first round at Oulton Park saw a mix of entries with a good proportion of the entry list taken up by Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship Entrants. The day started off cold and the rain mainly held off, not that that was much help as the cars still got very wet at the watersplash! An interesting use of the various circuits at Oulton Park and some very fast times coming in by the end of the day, even as night fell and the crews turned to spotlights the times didn’t fall off. Was also a good chance for the UK debut of the Skoda Fabia R5, a very good looking car which would have achieved a good result if not for a stone through the radiator on SS5.

Phil Rowland and Phil Woodcock on the way to 32nd Overall, 9th in Class.

Brand new Skoda Fabia R5.

Event Winners, Stephen Simpson and Patrick Walsh

Motorclub Treasure Hunt Thanks to everyone who came to our Treasure Hunt event which was run on both the 3rd of June and the 5th of August. We raised ÂŁ40 for the Richard Burns Foundation and the event was a mix of different roads and challenging questions which left a few competitors wondering just what was meant. A particularly challenging question was: EATEN RELIVE EMU. Which after a few U-turns a couple of competitors got as: LIME TREE AVENUE. The Richard Burns Foundation is in place to help people in the same situation as the late Richard Burns and provide funding to those suffering from serious illness and injury. The foundation is a lasting memory to Richard Burns, run by those close to him, his navigator Robert Reid was a cofounder who still remains involved whilst Marcus GrĂśnholm is the Patron of the Foundation. Thanks to all those that came and helped raise the money we did; hopefully we can continue to raise money through a summer treasure hunt.

Clay Pigeon Shooting On the 1st of July we went Clay Pigeon Shooting to Nettleton Lodge and now my hearing and shoulder has recovered I feel I can do a quick write up. We went to 3 different traps and with a little bit of practice we were getting fairly accurate (or maybe we just thought we were!) Good to get out into the woods and shoot a few clays was an enjoyable night! Out of 25 shots our scores where: Steve Hill: 9 clays Paul Moran: 12 clays Adam Sutton: 20 clays

Club Championships Please send your results in after the event; we can’t have a championship if no one sends us their information!

Event reports Sculthorpe November 1st 2015- Clive Hitchman and Jeremy Griffiths Just to let you know Jeremy Griffiths and I competed in the Lynn stages at Sculthorpe on Nov 1st. We finished 8th overall and first in class. Once the fog cleared it was a sunny day and we slowly moved up through the places, partly attrition, partly me getting less slow. The Beemer ran faultlessly, minor issue with adjustable rear trailing arm locking nut coming loose but not affecting our stages. It is a fun rally, 75 stage miles, plenty of variety and few bale chicanes, so it was surprising how few entries there were, 35 ish.

If you have competed on an event and would like it featuring in here, please send it to me on webmaster@bordermotorclub.co.uk
