George is the organizer of TEDxGrandviewHeights. He has coached over 100 speakers for their successful performance on the TEDx stage. George is passionate about developing young adults to become leaders and influential speakers. He believes that by educating them in the values of leadership and imparting necessary communication skills, they will be able to speak fluently from the heart, inspire people to transform themselves, and to make the world a better place.

2023 Theme

'Reimagine' is a call to action to harness youthful energy and creativity, and inspire new solutions for existing challenges.

It is an invitation for innovation, a beacon for bold thinkers, and a manifesto for the changemakers of tomorrow.

It is a rallying cry to not just accept the world as it is, but to dream, design, and build the world as it could be.

Kenneth is a bright sixth-grader at Sir Sandford Fleming Elementary who has a penchant for drawing and a passion for literature. His favourite book is Roald Dahl's classic, 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.' He also enjoys expressing his creativity through playing the piano.

Cynthia, an 8-year-old in third grade, showcases a genuine love for a variety of pursuits. She enjoys writing and speaking, channels her energy into gymnastics and dance, and brings melodies to life on the piano. Her talent for recitation adds another dimension to her broad range of interests. Since the age of five, Cynthia's commitment to her passions has seen her winning first or second places in various annual competitions, a true testament to her dedication and growing abilities.

This session is the cornerstone of our journey, where self-exploration meets innovation.

We are not confined by labels or societal norms. By promoting empathy, inclusion, body positivity, and action, our speakers inspire us to see ourselves in a new light.

Reimagining ourselves is the first step towards personal growth and societal change.

Albert is a 10-year-old fifth grader with a diverse set of interests that range from breakdancing and Greek mythology to coding. An ardent lover of sea creatures, he has demonstrated his commitment to their preservation by actively participating in a fundraiser for the Vancouver Aquarium. Alongside his academic pursuits, Albert also enjoys various sports such as lacrosse, rugby and water polo.

Ava is an enthusiastic 5th grader with a passion for music, sports, and dance. A talented pianist and flutist, she also excels in track and field and soccer. Her zest for life extends beyond her interests, as she advocates for empathy and creating a safe and caring environment for everyone.

This session invites us to be present even in the face of adversity, to refrain from overthinking and to slow down and achieve balance.

Reimagining today is about fostering mindfulness in our daily lives so we can navigate today with resilience and equanimity.

Avery, a dynamic third grader, is passionate about sports, art, and music. When she's not hitting the slopes, you'll find her nurturing her garden or practicing piano. A devoted pet parent to three cats, she is a strong advocate for the positive impact of pets in children's lives.

Pets teach us a lot. But more importantly, they provide a lot of opportunities for us to understand and improve ourselves.

MAGGAN PENG

Maggan is a 17-year-old who is proud to call Xinjiang her home. Her dream career is to be a bear trainer in Moscow. She is now inspired to name her bear TED after her appearance on the TEDx stage. Maggan is passionate about figure skating, and spends most of her time on the ice throughout the year.

Reimagining tomorrow is about daring to explore and shaping the future we want to live in.

By following our passions and embracing what we love, we create a roadmap for a brighter tomorrow.

This session pushes us to dream bigger, to see beyond current constraints, and to imagine a future that aligns with our deepest passions.
