KNORR & KOKO:

Knorr and Koko are absolutely starving, but there’s hardly anything in the fridge. Just one thing of each and nothing that’s enough to satisfy their hunger! “Wait here!” shouts Knorr and runs off. What will they do now with the cake that Knorr brings back? After all, there’s only one of that, too. Will it be enough for both of them?

The stories are seemingly straight-forward, but never one to shy away from the complexity of life, the Who? series tackles questions of grief, frustration, jealousy, loneliness, excitement, and joy. Stina Wirsén perfectly captures the horror of being lost in a big department store, the new kid stealing the spotlight at a birthday party, having to go to the hospital, trying to make a new friend, and always writes with warmth and humour. WHO?:

Happy birthday!

It’s party time in Stina Wirsén’s celebrated Who? world. Today is Spark’s birthday and all her friends are coming to the party. There will be lots of fun and cake and games. How exciting!

Maya Jönsson is a picture book author and artist based in Stockholm. She draws images from her i magination, often with a warm, magical atmosphere. While she is known for her detailed watercolours, in the Bobo toddler books Maya draws with a humorous and more naïve style.

It’s winter playtime for our youngest readers in this new toddler series! Bobo the bunny packs his backpack to go meet his friends, build a snowman, go ice-skating, enjoy snacktime and play.

How Is Dim Feeling?

DIM:

In Dim and Lummer’s forest, the air is warm and humid and filled with sounds of badgers scratching, squirrel chatter, and buzzing bugs. But how is Dim feeling? He doesn’t seem happy at all. It’s difficult to think in the heat, and the bugs are bothering him. Not even little Lummer can comfort him, and Dim hisses at his friend to leave him alone. Dim leaves Lummer behind and sets off in search of a place where he can find peace and quiet. But everywhere he goes, he hears the same buzzing and rustling. Are there no tranquil thinking spots where poor Dim can catch his breath?

A tale about needing a calm place for one’s thoughts – and the importance of sharing them with someone. How Is Dim Feeling? is the sequel to the much beloved Who Sees Dim? In it Maria Nilsson Thore once again brings us picture book magic as she once again brings to life the tiny world of Dim and Lummer deep in the forest with her evocative watercolours.

Warm Wishes from Death

“Why should black be the colour of death, why not sky blue?”

Children encounter images of death on TV and in films, games, and books that are often frightening. But what does death really look like? Perhaps there are other images that we can live with  – and fall asleep with. What if death isn’t something to be afraid of at all?

Ulf Nilsson (1948–2021) is one of Sweden’s foremost children’s book authors, and with his books Goodbye, Mr Muffin and All the Dear Little Animals he has helped hundreds of thousands of children and parents think and talk about death. In Warm Wishes from Death, which he completed in the final days of his life, he reflects on how we imagine death and how it affects us. What if we try other, more comforting and redeeming images? Stina Wirsén’s mesmerising illustrations in flowing watercolours are as magnificent as life itself. A great little book of comfort for all ages, in shades of black, blue, and pink.

The Dark Tales of Lillebror Rabbit

Step into the dark world of Lillebror Rabbit and his family, w ritten and illustrated by Jonna Björnstjerna.

These are scary tales for 3–6 year olds… but also wonderful! The Dark Tales of Lillebror Rabbit are set in a fairy tale-esque world where things are not just exciting and captivating, but also deals with things that may feel scary and how to deal with fear. Come along for adventures with three-headed trolls, aliens, and grumpy, unlycky, old men.

Jonna Björnstjerna invites readers to these cosy thrillers for the youngest readers. Her illustrations invoke thoughts of both Edward Gorey and John Bauer and she herself cites Julie Doucet and Tim Burton as great inspirations. In her version of stories for children, with elements of both the scary and romanticism, the results are fantastic, fun, and personal stories where we all can recognise ourselves! She has even been called the Stephen King for the youngest readers (Petter Lindgren, Aftonbladet).

The somewhat surrealistic stories are about courage and daring to do things that might be a bit scary, but they always end happily. They also have heaps of humour, excitement, and detailed rich illustrations with lots to look at and discuss. Twice they have been awarded the title as best picture book by Bokjuryn (where the children themselves vote for their favourites).

Besides the main series, Björnstjerna has also written an introduction to the Enchanted forest with the T he Flora & Fauna of Wonderwoods. Lillebror Rabbit guides the reader through pretty glades, all while encountering fascinating monsters, mean little elves and terrifying creatures and plants!

The Enchanted Castle

THE DARK TALES OF LILLEBROR RABBIT:

Every self-respecting royal family has a castle dragon. But now, the dragon of the Enchanted Castle has started nibbling at the courtiers and smashing towers in the castle. That simply won’t do! This year’s edition of the castle’s popular public festival with jousting will be a bit different: the knights’ task will be to make their way into the castle and slay the deadly dragon – all on live stream!

Lillebror Rabbit loves knights and jousting, and the whole family is gathered outside the castle to watch the dragon slaying unfold. But whoopsie – suddenly Lillebror Rabbit finds himself with a shield in his paw and is tossed onto a very small horse. No one listens when he says he is just a little rabbit in disguise!

Who will Lillebror Rabbit be in this moment of danger – a fluffy coward or someone who triumphs with wit and compassion?

Lugo and Lill: Secrets Everywhere

LUGO AND LILL:

A story about friendship and adventure!

Lugo and Lill are best friends. Lill is small and Lugo is big. One of them loves adventure and the other prefers to stay home in peace and quiet.

One day, when Lill is angry with Lugo for having a secret in his pocket, she discovers a hole in the dense green hedge that surrounds their garden. She immediately wants to crawl inside to see what’s hiding among the branches. Perhaps there’s a surprise? Lugo is less convinced, but he crawls in behind her. On the other side of the hedge, the landscape is wild and different – exciting and a little scary...

This is a story about daring to challenge yourself and about secrets big and small. A poetic and warm-hearted picture book in a large format.

My Invisible Grandma

Eddi’s grandma loves to play – especially hide-and-seek! Now she seems to be hiding again. Help Eddi look for his sprightly grandma. Surely you can spot her somewhere around the house?

Come along for a captivating game of hide-and-seek, and find clues to all the adventures Eddi’s grandma experienced as a young woman. In addition to the game itself, this search-and-find book also challenges the reader’s perception of what a grandmother can be.
