CORE RATIONALE
VÈRITÈ PAVILION follows the concept of cinema vèritè, “truthful cinema”, which is a style of cinema that captures ordinary people in ordinary situations The philosophy behind cinema vèritè was that the filmmaker actively participates in the film as a subjective observer where necessary
The main focus of this project is to create a space where students around the campus can relax and interact while appreciating the campus views framed by the structure’s openings. The pavilion is also designed with a stationary shop and a shaded seating area to foster interaction and movement on the site.

This pavilion follows the form of “finger frames” or “director’s hands”, which is a gesture some filmmakers do to frame their shots The shape that these fingers make when tilted inwards or outwards resembles that of Building 11’s Auditorium

CORE RATIONALE
There are two sides to every story, and two other stories for every other universe The focus of this design is to simplify the designers’ understanding of the theory of multiverse through a series of buildings that continue the narrative of the preceding structure
CONCEPT
The shape and direction of the first two buildings communicate the idea of having two sides to one story. The rest of the buildings continue the story(form) to develop a sequel in different universes. The parallel pattern of the buildings emphasize the concept of having a parallel universe which mimics the existence of another.

Garment inspired by a building and context
CONCEPT
Explore the common visual and intellectual principles that underlie both fashion and Architecture by designing and making a contemporary garment which acts as a reinterpretation of the Chief’s Palace.
Design a garment that represents the form and function of the Chiefs Palace by drawing inspiration from the building and the people that occupy and surround the building. The concept is based on incorporating the different elements that make the building, how they connect and the general feel they give the space.
This design was inspired by the concept of royalty and belief. The different materials that cover the body represent the demographics of the Bamileke people all encompassing the Chief’s Palace(the site, the models body). The garment exhibits the relationship between historic buildings and the communities surrounding.
The approach taken on this design was central to modernizing the initial design. Instead of having cultural and chieftaincy based elements in the garment, why not blend these factors in a more current-fashion way. This design aims to provide comfort and a sense of freedom to the model.
This design rather focuses on “revamping” the previous design by adding an actual representation of the Chief’s Palace as a crown for the Chief. Furthermore, a skirt has been incorporated, which is worn by traditional dancers of Bandjoun.
The two strips of cloth on both sides and the skirt, all represent the three rooms in the Palace coming together to connect at the meeting room, which is the models body. The hat represents the granary at the top of the rooms.
FINAL CONCEPT
This design is also concentrated on the different rooms in the house. Each of the three rooms represent the different materials used in designing the interior of the structure- Lion skin, Panther skin and Lizard skin. The restricted hand movement of the model symbolizes the columns around the structure and the statues they are made offirm, thin(slim) with an upright in posture.

PROJECT AIM
This project was done in preparation to the student accommodation project, which will follow after this one. The aim of this assignment was for us to study human movements and activities, while studying the relationship between form, space and circulation It was also to introduce us to the design process and principles, and develop an understanding of architectural scale The main outcome of this project was to demonstrate the ability to communicate the relationship between body, memory and architecture

BRIEF ANALYSIS
Due to Covid-19, many students are required to work from home, changing the study dynamics and day-to-day lives of university students.
The task is to design an addition, alteration and/or new structures to accommodate 4 architecture students. These structures must have enough space and facilities to conduct architecture study work
CORE RATIONALE
The concept behind the design is to create a soft gradient between public and private spaces between the owners of the property and the students, and also between the students themselves The design is set on giving every resident their own private space while having public spaces that foster interaction and increase work productivity.
