3. Visit a centre above to enrol:

You can enrol up to Thursday 19th December 2019 and then from Monday 6th January 2020. Courses run throughout the year until July 2020.

They made it happen...

10 Bolton College learners, who started on community ‘Find Out About’ courses, are about to apply for places at university.

The Health & Social Care students all started on taster courses in their local community centres.

Thanks to the support they received from their tutor, Angela Murray, they were soon bitten by the learning bug and swiftly progressed through Levels 1, 2 and 3.

All are now hoping to secure places at the University of Bolton, to study nursing and other health-related professions.

Nosheen Ishtiaq, who hopes to become an Adult Nurse, said: “When I came here, English wasn’t even my first language.

Angela really encouraged me a lot, she’s an excellent teacher.”

Angela Murray, Health & Social Care Lecturer, added: “Thanks to their hard work and sheer determination, the learners are so much closer to achieving their dream careers, which is wonderful.

‘I’m sure they will continue to shine on the next stage of their learning journey. They are an inspiration to anyone wishing to change their career – I am so proud of them.’

Kevan Forkin Professional Cookery Level 3 ‘I was working on gas on the roads for 23 years, I’d done it since leaving school. I had an injury which led to me being unable to work, so I enrolled onto a beginner’s cookery course at Brownlow Fold, my local centre. I really enjoyed it so I decided to stay on and do something even bigger – Level 3 in Professional Cookery.

Coming to College is a whole new experience for me, the tutors are so supportive and helpful. I’d like to make use of my skills and qualifications and work in catering.’

Family Learning Funded by Bolton Council, Family Learning is a FREE service delivered by Bolton College that allows parents/carers to get involved with their children in school, develop their own skills, share ideas with other parents and work alongside qualified teachers.

Courses include Family English, Maths, ESOL and Early Years, with classes usually running from 9am-12pm or 12.30pm-3.30pm.

We also run informal ESOL classes for beginners, taught by volunteers through our Talk English project. If you would like to join one of these classes, or become a volunteer on the programme, please call your nearest centre to register.
