Our FREE* English and maths courses start at beginners level and progress up to GCSE. Choose the right course for you, whether that’s a beginners course to get you started; a GCSE to gain that essential grade 4; or a class to improve your employability.

What’s Foundation Studies?

Foundation Studies prepares for further study or employment in a caring and supportive environment. Independent living, employability, English and maths skills and quality work experience provide a stepping stone on to a higher level course, employment or training.

Who is Foundation Studies for?

Our Foundation Studies courses are for: • Adults aged 19+ with learning difficulties and/ or disabilities but without an Education & Health Care Plan (EHCP) • Adults who had an EHCP but this has now ceased Why choose Foundation Studies at Bolton College?

How to reach us by bus

New Bury Community Learning Centre From Bolton Bus Station: The 36 and 37 both come close to the Centre; bus 36 stops on George Street opposite the Centre and post office, whilst bus 37 will drop you at the top of Buckley Lane near the big Tesco in Farnworth. Then it’s a 5 to 7 min walk, depending which stop you have come off.

Farnworth Library From Bolton Bus Station: The 8, 22 and 37 both stop a few yards from Farnworth Library, which is situated on Market Street, the main road running through Farnworth.
