General Manager Update – Tom Michael A few highlights that Tom mentioned: • All pieces have been submitted for the Murdock Charitable Trust grant proposal and a decision will be made in November 2016. This grant could bring ~$250,000 of a $500,000 project to the station for infrastructure and system upgrades. • Recent National Emergency Alert System test received all signal tones. • We are moving forward with the newsroom internship program in coordination with the University. Scott Graf has been promoting the program in the classroom and we have several students slated to start in January 2017. • At the end of the month we will resubmit our proposal to the CPB for funding consideration for a Regional Journalism Collaborative, partnering with KUNC in Greeley, CO, YPR in Billings, MT, WPM in Laramie, WY, KRCC in Colorado Springs, CO, and KUER in Salt Lake City. • An appeal was made to Boise State University to partner in funding for a daily local show, as well as for joint funding towards a satellite space downtown. This space is located in the Clearwater Building at The Grove, and is approximately 800 square feet. If approved, it will house a studio space as well as a business meeting place, and will increase BSPR’s community visibility. 1|Page
