SUNSET LECTURE SERIES

FREE MONTHLY EVENING ADULT EDUCATION SERIES

Second Wednesday of the Month 7:00-8:30pm. May 9 – Wild Edibles of the Foothills. Ray Vizgirdas, field biologist and author of Wild Plants of the Sierra Nevada, will take us on an interpretive walk and tour of useful plants, both edible and medicinal, in Boise’s foothills. Our natural back yard is full of plants that provide sustenance and improve health. Plant identification can be a tricky business, but Ray will guide us as we see and explore what nature has to offer. FREE and no registration required. June 13 – Pollination Ecology Walk. The sagebrush-steppe slopes, meadows, and valleys of south-central Idaho offer a great array of wildflowers! These flowers and plants offer prime habitat for bees and butterflies. Hundreds of species have been recorded in the area, and many of those may be found between the Treasure Valley and Bogus Basin. We will go walking to see as many as we can find, and discover how to find, harmlessly detain, and identify butterflies and bees, while learning their lifecycle, needs, and natural history. FREE and no registration required.
