CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM Term: Our terms are 50 percent due sale day and a post-dated cheque for the balance dated May 31, 2017. Volume Discount: Purchase three or more bulls and receive a 3 percent discount, five or more bulls receive a 5 percent discount. Delivery: Bulls and purebred females will be delivered as soon as possible following the sale. They may be returned to the farm until delivery can be made or you pick up your purchase. Commercial females must be picked up from SLS. Wintering: We are willing to winter all sale bulls free of charge until April 1. After that date all buyers will be contacted and arrangements will be made for delivery or pick-up. All bulls sent back to the farm MUST be insured for full mortality. Insurance: Larry Toner Agencies will be available for your insurance needs on sale day. Remember all bulls going back to the farm must be insured for full mortality. Common Sense Breeding Guarantee: All bulls will be semen tested
and vet inspected. We fully guarantee all bulls sold 100 percent. In the event of a problem, we guarantee to provide you with a quality bull to get your cows bred. Welcome to what will be our 14th annual bull sale in Saskatoon. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us in the past. For us, sale day is not only about offering our current crop for sale, it is also a chance to reconnect and visit with our past customers. Even if you are not in the market for another bull, please join use on sale day for lunch and some fellowship. It is just one of the ways we say thank you! 2017 marks the 50th calf crop born at Wheeler’s Stock Farm for Harvey & Frances. Our commitment to producing cattle that work in the commercial industry is as strong as ever. In order to grow our program to this point we have worked very hard to provide the best customer service. The integrity of our program is very important to us – the genetics we offer, how we feed and develop the bulls, and how we stand behind our product are all a reflection of our integrity. We want you to have complete confidence in our program and to be assured that we stand behind our bulls. We are extremely proud of this year’s sale offering. As our cow herd has grown in numbers, so has the depth of quality. We believe that the strength of our cow herd determines the level of quality in our bull pen. The strategic genetic investments we’ve made are paying dividends, as we spend countless hours researching and sourcing only the very best. The 2-year-olds are an impressive group; they represent the younger bulls in our calf crop, and be assured that with calf prices as high as they have been, there is no incentive to keep anything but the best for our 2-year-old program. The yearling bulls are the largest group we have offered, and are uniform in terms of hoof quality, hair, muscle shape and soundness. We have some new pedigrees available this year for those looking for fresh genetics. There are multiple bulls in our offering that will fit everyone’s needs and budget, so rest assured that the time you spend to attend our sale will be worth while. One of the subtle differences you may notice about our bulls this year is we moved our calving back two weeks, which means the average age of the yearling bulls is two weeks younger than past years. You may notice this difference at catalogue time, but by the time breeding season rolls around there will be no difference in the bulls development compared to our past calf crops. The group of commercial replacement heifers were well received last year. For the first time we will have on offer true F1 Simmental x Red Angus females, as well as our usual straight red females. A new addition to the sale this year is a select group of purebred females that will meet the needs of the most discriminating seedstock producers. You will notice most of these females were raised by first-calf heifers, which gives you access to our newest genetics and proves the production ability that is bred into these females. If you cannot attend, please contact us or our capable sale staff about the offering. Our sight unseen purchase program becomes more popular every year and we fully guarantee your satisfaction. WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN? Calving Ease Rating System: Power Plus: Bulls marked with this symbol have more punch and will have larger calves at birth and more performance at weaning time. They are recommended for cows only. Curve Bender: Bulls marked with this symbol have more moderate birth weights while maintaining performance. They can be used on cows with no problems or large, well developed heifers preferably of British breeds. A few assisted births may be expected out of heifers. Sleep Easy: As the name implies, a Sleep Easy sire is a calving ease bull that lets you sleep easy knowing you should have very little calving difficulty. These are the bulls we recommend to use on heifers.

Notes About EPDs: BW EPD: The birth weight EPD is a figure expressed in pounds and is a predictor of an individual’s contribution to its progeny’s weight at birth. WW EPD: The weaning weight EPD is expressed in pounds as the average weight of his progeny compared to an average bull of the breed for weaning weight. YW EPD: The yearling weight EPD is expressed in pounds as the average weight of his progeny compared to an average bull of the breed for yearling weight. It is the best indicator of overall growth. Milk EPD: The Milk EPD is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk as expressed in his daughters, or in other words, that part of weaning weight attributed to a mother’s milk genes. TM EPD: The TM EPD is a combination of an animal’s Milk EPD added to 50% of its Weaning Weight EPD. It is an indicator of the growth potential of progeny based on performance and milking ability. The TM EPD is a better indicator of a cow’s production potential than just Milk. CE EPD: The Calving Ease EPD is a percentage of probability that a bull’s calves will be born without any assistance. Therefore, animals with a higher positive number will have greater probability of having no calving problems. MCE EPD: The Maternal Calving Ease EPD is a percentage of probability that a bull’s daughter’s calves will be born without any assistance. Therefore, daughters of an animal with a higher positive number will have a greater probability of having no calving problems.

Face
Game Face is one of the most recognised bulls in the breed and turned many heads after topping the Six Mile Ranch bull sale for $65,000. We purchased some semen and bred some of our best females which has produced some of the sale features. Game Face is a rare combination of calving ease and explosive growth. His sons and daughters are soft made and easy fleshing.

On
Game On is a bull we raised to use in our own heifer pen. He was our main service sire on our heifers and there are many progeny available in this sale. We were impressed with the calving ease he offered (100% unassisted) with that long, smooth build to his calves. His dam is one of our best producing matrons being the dam of our high selling yearling bull in our 2015 and 2016 sales. We highly recommend his sons for breeding heifers.

RED TER-RON Monopoly
We brought Monopoly into our program to add outcross calving ease genetics. Monopoly is a son of Ter-Ron Park Place, who is a son of the famous HF Tiger 5T. We wanted to tap into the short gestation genetics of Tiger for our red cattle. Monopoly’s first calves all arrived early and without any assistance whatsoever. In addition to calving ease, Monopoly also has an exceptional hair coat, and is deep sided. His daughters are features in our female offering. We recently purchased possession in Monopoly from Semex.

Big Deal
Big Deal is one of our home raised herd bulls. Big Deal has bred very similar to his sire Real Deal. He was used to add depth of rib, fleshing ability, growth and more hair in everyone’s favorite dark red colour. Big Deal’s dam, Heather 84S, has been a great producer and comes from one of the original cow families our herd is built around. His grand-sire Jack Daniels 18M and the Heather cow family make good uddered, big bodied cows that always wean calves at the top of the herd. Casanova is one of the most unique Red Angus bulls you will find and has captured the attention of everyone that has seen him. He has a massive hip and wide top, and packs a lot of muscle on a moderate frame. His dam Dawn 17Y has entered our donor pen and is a moderate framed, big topped, low maintenance cow that has great udder quality. Casanova stamped his calves consistently with his muscle shape and power. His sons and daughters are equally impressive and will have a big impact on our program.

He has great depth of heel, is square hipped, dark red and good haired. We had MANY inquires about semen last year, however Royal Flush is deceased with no semen available. We searched long and hard to find Unanimous. He was built right from the ground up with a big foot, heavy bone, extra length and endless shape through his rib and hip. His dam is also from the Anexa cow family which is the best at U-2. We were very impressed with the Recon sire group for their hoof quality and spread from birth to yearling. When it comes time to select the bulls we will retain for 2-year-olds there has been no incentive to keep anything we are not 100% confident will develop into a top herd sire. One of the major considerations when choosing these bulls is the past production history of their dams. Many of this years offering are from top producing cows and Bridget 54W is no exception. She has had feature sons in the sale before and her calves always wean at the top of their calf crop.
Fast Lane has done an admirable job offering an extra shot of muscle shape, bone and performance while maintaining a sensible frame size. Anne 51S is still producing strong at 11 years of age and has raised some top calves over the years including a son working for U6 Livestock and she is the grand-dam of our show female Red Wheel Annie Oakley 8B.

Magic Mike is a bull that excels in all the traits that have made Angus cattle the backbone of the commercial cow herd. The mating of Big Deal on Atlantic City daughters was a no miss mating that was very consistent. Lots to like about this bull with his extra growth, sound foot, and he is dark red. Rose 118W is a solid producing cow and has a yearling son offered as lot 46 that was one of the stand out calves all summer.

Everytime Becky 53R has a bull calf, he ends up being a feature and one of the high sellers in our bull sale. She may be a bit long in the tooth now, but she has done it again. Becky 53R is one of those females that produces moderate birth weight calves that grow. Sons have sold to Buckingham Farms, Hillcrest Colony and Martins Ranch.
Visitors to the pasture this summer picked out this guy. He is long spined and has lots or rib to him like his dam. I would not be concerned with his birthweight as he is built right and will probably not throw calves as large as he was at birth. On mature cows, he will not produce any calving problems and you will get the extra pay weight in the fall.

The only reason we are offering these Monopoly daughters for sale is we purchased the walking rights to him with plans for him to service our heifer pen. Game On’s dam has raised the high selling yearling bull in our sale the past two years, so we expect his daughters to be prolific producers as well. Her dam is an ET daughter of Auburn 34S, who is a maternal sister to Red Wheel Alliance 22U. Adding Approval 4L to the pedigree of a female is a tremendous asset. You have to appreciate the length of body of this female and her sound structure.

Heifers
For the second time, we are offering a group of replacement females in the sale. Being limited by the size of our land base makes these heifers now available. For the past few years, we have sold groups privately and the demand for these heifers has been strong. By offering them in the sale, everyone will have equal opportunity to add these foundation seedstock females to their program.
For the first time we will be offering a group of true F1 Simmental x Red Angus females. These heifers are sired by Erixon Lad 58B. We selected him specifically looking for a bull to sire replacement heifers. He is a moderate framed bull with tremendous depth of rib, calving ease, loads of hair and is dark red with a white star on his face. Many of his daughters are carrying that extra bit of chrome or as we call it the money stripe. Erixon Lad 58B is a son of IPU Diablo 41Y who has sired many good females for Erixon Simmentals. We are also again offering a group of straight-bred Red Angus females. This is a great opportunity to access replacement heifers that could provide the foundation for an F1 program. Most of the group are sired by our top herd sires, such as Magic Mike, Fast Lane, and Game On. We just can’t keep them all! They will be presented in working condition and have been developed side-by-side with our own replacements, receiving no additional feed. They will continue to grow and develop for their new owners. We will be offering approximately 30 heifers. They will be sorted and split into smaller groups of 3-5 head at sale time based on weight, breeding and type. We will have a supplement sheet available at the sale with more information. Heifers must be picked up from Saskatoon Livestock Sales after the sale. SIRES REPRESENTED (from top)
