Welcome to the 9th Annual Western Select Limousin Sale. This indeed is a truly Western Canadian tradition with consignments from Quesnel, BC to Minto, MB. Visiting with Canadian cattle producers this summer and fall, I’ve noted their attitudes and commitment to the beef industry has been remarkable. Yes, our day to day lifestyle has been affected, but the goal of producing top end Limousin genetics continues.

Our 2020 sale line-up is arguably our best yet. The catalog opens up with three remarkable red herd sire prospects. Our 27 bred heifers are terrific females carrying a variety of calving dates for your appraisal. These feature matings will definitely put added genetics into your program.

This class of 2020 heifer calves (5 black - 5 red) is an impressive group and they could well have had Calf Champion banners attached to them if circumstances would have allowed.

We welcome our 14 consignors - a few are first timers, and continue to build the history of “Western Select”. We, at Double B Cattle Co, are very excited to offer choice on these two impressive Flatliner bull calves. The Flatliner calves have come easy and shown consistent growth, admirable muscle shape, length of body and docility. With a 205 day adjusted weaning weight of 774 lbs, a B Bar Soot daughter earned her keep as a first time calver. His dam, DBCC Frenchmaid 1F, shows many characteristics from the influential Wrigley cow family that have made a strong mark on our herd. DBCC Hurt Locker will be one of the top red, homo polled, calving ease herd sire prospects this year and has a promising future in any program!

This heifer has been an eye catcher in the replacement pen since day one.

She has always caught the attention of visitors with her unique brindle coloring, but also because she is pretty easy on the eyes. This heifer is soft made, deep bodied, and very sound footed. She is the daughter of our Pinnacle’s Cop Car bull that currently ranks as the #1 calving ease sire in Canada. Cop Car now resides in Ontario breeding heifers for Hawkeye Land and Cattle, but we are very impressed with the mark he has left on our herd and this female is no exception. Her mating to the calving ease specialist, Wulfs Blackhawk, will be very exciting!

Gravedancer is the first Executioner progeny to sell at auction and we could not be any happier with how these calves have turned out. Last year we calved out 4 Executioner calves, 3 of which were taken on the show road and made many friends.

Gravedancer is the 4th calf we had and is as well made as the rest. We had intended for 21G to be retained in the herd due to her power and the fact she was the only heifer that was safe to her AI, but after talking with Martin and looking at the 4 maternal sisters we have kept in the herd, we decided that if we were consigning to this sale, why not bring the best. PLN 21G is an easy doing long bodied, big-ribbed female with lots of capacity. She is backed by maternal strength with her dam producing knockout calves each year. Gravedancer is backed by a powerful pedigree of performance animals such as the infamous TMF Miss 623T and Pillow Talk just to name a few. This docile female is sure to be a great addition to any program with the added bonus of being AI’d early to Zambuka.
