Welcome to the 11th Annual Western Select Sale. As the Bohrson Marketing Services team toured Canada in 2022 the depth and consistency we saw in the Limousin programs was indeed impressive. Many of the genetics that are working across the country have come directly out of the first ten years of the Western Select Sale.

In this 2022 Western Select catalog you will find a deep and balanced group of bred and calendar year heifers from 8 consignors. These selected females will headline Limo operations for years to come.

This year we have a Red Hardcore son selected that is sure to make his mark in the breed.

New this year is a semen opportunity on a "sure fire" herdsire.

are extremely happy with the Hardcore calves. They truly offer a new level of performance that’s evident in 705K. This bull is as unique as any we’ve produced since Electric Impact and the best Zoom Bloom son to date with the added bonus of a pedigree twist on the top side. This big stout rascal weaned off at just under 1000lbs and hasn’t looked back. He’s massive yet correct in his structure, big boned, stout topped and packed full of red meat. He still manages to stay soft through his middle third while being an extra rib long, extended through his front third and up headed with a masculine wrinkled up head. What adds to the puzzle of finding a bull you can really get behind and one that could make a difference is this guys ability to get out and move in the massive package he is; his feet are ideal thus far and his large early scrotal development is icing on the cake. Zoom Bloom has become a reliable source to make sale topping progeny year after year. Greenwood Cattle

We wanted to offer a real unique bred female and with some more embryos of this mating in the tank it allowed us to bring you 706J. A linebred match up of the best Greenwood genetics of the past decade. Wisteria Lane has the potential to be the best Limo cow we ever produced and we will continue to utilize her production potency for years to come through embryo work now that she is deceased. 706J is the tank you’d expect of her pedigree. She’s modernly designed with a soft muscle pattern, deep rib cage and cool look. Dark red females of this caliber are hard to find. Now where it gets fun is she’s bred to a cool Bank Account bull out of an Electric Impact cow. The ticket inside could be a ripper.

A pretty, yet cowy and soft haired tank here. Really like this ones head and neck attachment and the way she can get out and move; as well as the udder she is dropping. But my favourite part of this attractive female is her beauty Derby dam that likes to show off her perfect udder. 38J is calving early to Shift and will make for a speedy ROI.

We really like the job Bentley did here and around the breed. They are good cattle and this daughter should make a great cow. She’s stout in her muscle pattern, an extra rib long and darker red. 710J should make a power cow that can produce bulls. Here’s the kind we strive to make. Stout, sound, and look at the depth of rib. She’s going to make a tank of a cow with massive rib shape, a wide top and awesome front end. Another dark red Bud Ice female. We’ve enjoyed our experience trying Bud Ice and appreciate the dark red colour, excellent foot quality, length and heavy muscle he leaves in his progeny. 53J exemplifies all those qualities and should cross perfectly with Shift for a start of January calf. 53J’s dam is a full sister to Canadian Made and Zambuka; she’s been a great cow that’s easy fleshing and very productive. A maternal sister was purchased last year by Boulder Land and Cattle.

We are about to put an impressive group of Ally daughters into production this coming calving season. Here’s an opportunity to get in on the action. I really like the way this one is put together in terms of soundness, foot and leg structure and muscle depth that’s carried deep into her twist. Dark Dark red and cowy this one could very well be on the donor radar in the coming years plus she’s got a unique pedigree twist.

A beast of a female and what we’ve come to expect of Electric daughters. I’ll sound like a broken record when it comes to Electric daughters as they are all “cowy and tanky.” 66J’s full sister who is a year older was our favourite 2 year old we calved this spring at Greenwood; super milky. The extra early service to Shift will be one of the first of his calves born and sure to make a speedy return on investment.

One of Dad’s favourite’s in the pen. She’s a stout featured, hairy beast. Big square legs, has an awesome foot and you could eat off her back. Her dam is a full sister to the matriarch Wisteria Lane and has been an impressive producer for a long time. I see this one as a money maker for many years to come.

Ally 702A is one of those once in a decade cows if you get lucky enough to get her. Our plans to build a modern high quality cow herd around her aren’t changing which makes it difficult but exciting to offer direct daughters. 702A was the Farm Fair Supreme Champion female in 2018 as well as CWA champion female. 715J is attractive in her design, heavy muscled and developing a picture perfect udder. Her full brother Shift played a large role in our 2022 spring breeding season and you will find his service on multiple breds in the offering. This is a pedigree we’re going to rely on heavily and one to be a part of.

Massively constructed mamma here. Everyone likes to call them stout but this one is actually extra stout. Built like her sire; dark red, soggy, big boned, dense and big fluffy ears for a bonus. Her dam has been a great producing female for many years with daughters working in multiple herds. She’s bred Jet Stream for a purebred calf that will be worth some chips.

Who else is a sucker for a cherry red heifer? This is one that is very hard to part with, but Tiggy twisted my arm. She is a tank, deep middled, beautifully fronted, and Homo polled to seal the deal. She comes from a calving ease Credentials son we purchased from Wulfs a few years back. Her dam was a banner winner for us at the CLA 50th Anniversary show at the Royal in 2019 and then went on to bring us this beauty. She is going to turn some heads on sale day.

You have to admire Jo-Jo for her eye-catching profile - deep bodied, soft made, broody presence. Jo-Jo offers a unique pedigree and the Clarks Gold Digger cow was a feature lot in the 2020 Colours of Autumn sale. We think enough of Gold Digger that she has been put into our embryo program. Tremendous calving ease numbers with curve bending weaning and yearling figures. One of our favourites.

Anchor B Jenna is a March born LimFlex heifer out of a good HUNT Credential female. She is deep bodied, sharp fronted and easy doing.

The dam Anchor B Glitter was Riley's 4-H project and was moderate framed, deep sided and smooth made. Her sire is our Senior Angus Herdsire who provides calving ease and muscle shape.

Anchor B Jupiter had developed into a deep bodied, smooth fronted, free moving female that we absolutely love. She has a proven pedigree and longevity built into the cow families.

She is bred to B Bar Stetson who is our homo polled Senior Herdsire that promotes calving ease, style and moderate frame.

She was successfully campaigned by Avery through many 4-H & Junior Shows and we will continue to promote her this fall at Farmfair in Edmonton and Agribition at Regina.

Here we have a black bred heifer with a moderate frame. Janet is homo polled and has super genetic background both on the dam and sire sides. She is smooth shouldered and very deep. Her dam is from Pinnacle’s All In and the sire is Greenwood Emotion a Hunt’s Credential son. Hansen’s Harvard will put a beautiful calf on the ground in February and we are looking forward to an update as this one develops, grows and adds to future programs.

Have a look at this big and powerful homo polled heifer, one you don’t want to miss. Jolene is a nice quiet heifer and is super to work with. She has a long body and lots of depth. Her hair coat is suited for the Canadian weather, absolutely beautiful. Jolene has Richmond Zodiac on her dam’s side and Hunt’s Credential on the bull’s side, lots of pedigree here that will make a great addition to any program. Jolene is definitely a pen favorite. Have a good look here people, Kola is a homo polled, deep and long black calf with so much potential. She is thick and has a smooth front end all the right stuff in the same package a fancy one if you will. Kola is sired by Greenwood Grand Entry and her dam is a very heavy milking cow we purchased out of the Combest Dispersal and have had great success with within our herd. All the right stuff to add to the genetics and success of the right program for years to come. Don’t miss this one on sale day cause then she will be gone.

This bred heifer is definitely our pen favorite. She is sired by Anchor B The Shmooze and her dam is sired by Ivy Marksman so there are genetics out the wazoo here. Jewel is a beautiful homo polled, deep bodied, thick heifer. She is showing very nice udder development which will only add value to the right program. Bred to Hansen’s Harvard and I’m sure the return here will be awesome!

It was a difficult decision to offer choice on these 2 females as we had discussed keeping these heifers to upgrade within our own herd.

When it comes to PLN 9K we dug deep in the tank to make this female. 9K has been the favourite of visitors throughout the summer and fall. This cherry red EXLR Total Impact female is out of a no miss cow we purchased in the western select sale in 2015. Kaitlyn Snow is a clean fronted, deep ribbed heifer with ample shape and muscle. In addition, she also has 4 well placed teats. We loved this heifer so much we bred her dam back to Total Impact in hopes to produce another one just like her.

Both of these females will be on display at the western fall shows.

This black Abraham daughter, out of one of our prominent cow families, has been a standout from early on. This photo does not do this girl justice. She is a long, big bodied female with that hair coat Abraham calves are known to have. You have to appreciate the overall size and capacity 31K carries while still maintaining a feminine front end. Krystal was shown at the National Junior Limousin Show this past summer and was named Champion Limousin Heifer calf. Krystal is packed with maternal strength and is following closely in the footsteps of her dam with her overall power and is sure to be a high performing cow. The choice is yours, either of these powerhouse females will make a great addition to any herd, whether you are looking for an easy fleshing producer or that stylish show female.

sired by B Bar Wrangler, a Paynes Cracker son. The Wrangler calves are showing a lot of growth and don’t disappoint on style. These two heifers were standouts from day one with their spring of rib and depth of body. An added bonus is their great disposition.

SGL Keepsake is showing a lot of performance and should go on to make a great brood cow. She is wide topped with a lot of capacity. Check out her impressive EPDs. Out of a Richmond’s Burnindaylight daughter that has been consistently producing the good ones.

Kazoo is a fancy, wide topped, deep bodied heifer. She not only has great performance but is a very feminine heifer. Check out her pedigree as she goes back to B Bar Polled Unique and Wulfs Tibon. We expect her to go on and produce functional yet showy offspring.

Kassandra 13K is a red, moderate made heifer that has alot of potential. Kassandra is out of a first calver, HLC Hazel and grand dam RCN Coffee Crisp, who was purchased at the 2016 Western Sale. Her sire, HLC DBCC Flatliner progeny is working for a lot of top breeders in the Limousin breed. Her smooth shape and femininity will make her a show ring contender or a great momma cow. HLC Kenosee 21K is a deep bodied, smooth made with lots of muscle expression while mantaining loads of femininity. 21K’s dam, Greenwood Cassie was purchased from Greenwood Limousin at the 2015 Western Sale. Sired by a B Bar Bentley son, Pinnacle Famous she has the potential to follow in her mother’s cowpath. Parent verified applied for.

HLC Katalina 15K is a stylish heifer that comes from one of our matriarch cows, Richmond Miss SRD 112Z. We stress the importance of cow families at Hewson Land & Cattle Co. and 112Z never misses.

15 K is a deep long sided female and her smooth front shoulder blends nicely into her neck and head set. She is one of the first DBCC Hard Pressed females to sell from our farm. They are all similar in style and femininity. This heifer has lots of potential in her future.

A flushmate sister to 709K. This elegant female has added frame but doesn’t give up any style. Super long necked, clean chested, perfectly lined and fuzzy; makes this young lady a pretty unique breeding tool and one that could be bred several different ways with such a different pedigree. A maternal sister sold in the 9th annual Western Select for $14,000 to Ben Armitage and has turned into a productive and attractive young cow. 714K also has some real impressive flush mate brothers in this year’s bullpen.

A cherry red bomb shell. Around here she’s arguably the best heifer calf of the 2022 calf crop and we really got questioning why we were selling her on picture day. 709K is very similar to the Bubba Watson heifer calf we showed last fall that made lots of friends across multiple breeds. We really admire her dam and her ability to consistently kick out great calves early in her production career. 709K is so complete in her design from a pretty head, and high neck attachment to a perfect top and under lines. She moves with ease on a correct angled big boned leg. Her fuzzy dark red hair that’s seen minimal work will only get better. I think this one will be a force as a bred heifer and not to mention the perfect little teat set up she already displays. You’re going to be hearing a lot more of the Riviera cow family in the coming years.. Retaining 1 successful flush of 6 grade one embryos at buyers convenience.

The very first pick in the 2021 B Bar Cattle Bull Sale was the $22,000 Fugitive 8J selling to Highland Stock Farms and Greenwood Cattle. Fugitive was the result of an unbelievable embryo transfer of Warhawk x Miss TMF Shameless. Nine of the highest quality bulls were sold with the majority selling to purebred ranches. Also 4 dynamic full sib sisters were produced with Sammy 16J highlighting the 2021 Solid Gold Sale @$22,000.
