a program that invests in it’s future...

welcome

W elcome to the 6th Annual W2 Bull Sale and boy has it been a year… We want to once again welcome our partners in the sale and our good friends Wallgren Farms who have been a part of every one of these. We would like to thank all the past buyers, bidders and everyone who has reached out about the bulls over the years. As always please don’t hesitate to pick up the phone or come for a drive and see the bulls and their mommas. The market this fall was great and all signs point towards another great year ahead. It’s great to see all the operations who have stuck this cattle thing out and are now being rewarded for their efforts.

As always things are busy around here with running 170 cows, calving in 2 periods, doing a bit of custom corn planting, selling some Pioneer seed, Jenna running a wellness business and wrangling 4 kids, but we wouldn’t change it for the world. Marley (9) has been busy this past year with dance, 4-H, art classes and she took her heifers Abby and Stella to a couple shows in the summer. Cash (7) has us busy with hockey, 4-H and he too hauled around his heifer Jenna last summer. Jaycee (6) started hockey this year as well as 4-H and if you know Jaycee she always keeps us running, Lastly, Merit (4) also started hockey and loves to spend time in the barn and will be in Kindergarten starting next year. To say we’re busy would be a pretty big understatement, but everyday around here is exciting and with the kids becoming more involved by the day I think we’re in pretty good hands for the future. The group of bulls we have brought to you are real beef bulls. Bulls that are managed and bred to last and to put pounds on those calves. We continue to source the next best herd bull, donor female and AI sire to use to take us to that next level and we are very proud of where our program has come. We continue to invest heavily on embryo transfer and again put in around 40 embryos this past year. We have some dominate cow families that you will see throughout this catalog and we will have a couple new ones coming to you over the next couple years. The coming 2 yr old bulls were once again pulled off grass in late October and have been on a corn silage ration. These bulls are grown out gently as yearlings and spend their summer on green grass and a mineral package. Our yearlings come in to the yard in late September and are managed just as our late born calves are. No creep feed and bulls that we think will give you that longevity that we look for. Please plan to join us February 20 at the farm for some great hospitality and a pretty darn impressive group of bulls. If you can’t make it sale day please reach out to the very capable Bohrson Marketing crew who have been through the bulls, or bid online with DLMS. If you would like to have a look before sale day the coffee is always on and the beer’s cold.

Sales Management

We welcome all to the 6th annual W2 Land & Cattle Bull Sale with guest consignor, Wallgren Farms. This pair of progressive operations again have come together for Chapter 6 and bring you a stout set of Simmental bulls for your appraisal. Both operations are aggressive in how they source genetics to elevate their own program to bring you, the customer, exciting and proven genetics for your appraisal. We at Bohrson Marketing enjoy working closely with both outfits year round and are excited for these 2024 sale pens. The Waltz family of W2 is one of the great family operations in all the land. Their foresight into breeding and developing a predominantly 2 year old program is commendable and you are going to love the way these bulls are presented. Loose made, heavy haired, easy doing beef bulls geared for today’s industry. These bulls are brought along gently with longevity in mind and have the age advantage to service more cows for you and hold condition while doing so. You can’t just go anywhere and find these high quality 2’s and south of Vermilion is a great spot to do so. The ever growing yearling division of W2 is truly exciting to watch evolve. It is built around some of the most elite donor females and made up of some of the most popular and proven AI bulls and powerful walking bulls that call Waltz’s place home. These powerful yearling bulls compliment the big and strong two year old bulls so well. Dean and Brant at Wallgren Farms bring their largest quantity and quality set of bulls for this year’s edition and they are flat good. A strict embryo transfer program accompanied by natural services by some of the most sought after herd bulls in the industry make up this 2024 bull offering. The heavy emphasis on building the foundation around big time cows that are phenotypically stunning with perfect udders and feet with easy doing body types and a great maternal look is as evident this year as ever before. Generations of donor quality cows back this pen of bulls on both sides of their pedigrees and you can bet they will sire some high quality offspring of both genders. The rookie calf crops off Walk The Line & RF Magnitude join that of the popular and proven Warzone, Rancher and Caliber to name a few, including your chance at 3 full brothers to the $240,000 WF Capital 164L. An exciting set of yearling bulls with options for every breeding program. We really encourage you to make plans to join us at W2’s beautiful sale facility. The Vermilion hospitality is always in full force and the impressive set of Simmental bulls go hand in hand with it. Be sure to reach out to the Waltz’s or the Wallgren’s to discuss the cattle on offer and to help find some options that best suit your needs. We at BMS would be pleased to assist if you wish for a 3rd party opinion and would be pleased to discuss this great offering with you. Best regards,

LOT 1: When we flushed our Pocahontas cow to the Top Tier bull this is exactly what we had in mind. Soft made, big hipped, easy doing cattle that keep the

calving ease and birth weights in check. We can’t say enough good things about this bull and the future we think he has in front of him. Lot 1, 2 and the yearling bull Lot 48 are all full siblings and all very high end bulls in our mind. Timber 27K is dark red, really big over that top and as hairy of a two year old as we have had go through this sale. When he gets out and goes he truly is impressive with the big square foot he sits down on. A true sale feature and one of the best bulls to come out of the W2 program.

LOT 2: The baldy brother of the flush and the bull that probably stood out first from this flush. At a young age this calf was noticed on pasture and for good

reason. Much like his brother when the bull gets out and moves he sets down on that big foot and always hits his hole. Right from the skull design back this bull does everything well. The Pocahontas cow will continue to be a major part of our donor battery going forward and by the looks of things her daughters are going to be just as good as she is. We sold her first ever daughter, who is a full sib to these flushmates to Ashworth Farms in 2022 where she headlined our Border City consignments that year. We have retained a couple daughters including another full sib to these bulls who our daughter Jaycee will show this summer. To put it simple this mating knocked it out of the park.

LOT 3: Here is the third 2 yr old out of our Pocahontas cow sired by the $100,000 LFE Hall Pass. We partnered with our good friends Westman Farms and Lewis on the Hall Pass bull back in 2021 and unfortunately due to injury he never did walk our pastures. We did however flush the Pocahontas cow to him and got this loan bull and an absolute standout heifer who as I write this is due to calve any day and we could not draw a better udder on this heifer. She is special… But back to the bull who when you see him in person I think it will be hard to argue that he isn’t one of the longest spined bulls you will see. He has always possessed that herdbull look and that “look at me” presence. When you still sell your calves by the pound don’t underestimate the value of length in pounding that scale down.

The 040 cow herself is a moderate Liberator daughter who has a picture perfect udder who seems to have a knack for sending calves to the replacement pen in her first 2 tries.

LOT 5: The Chaos sire group produced a couple of our top bulls last year and this year is no different. Bulls that we feel are perfect for the commercial cattlemen. Chaos was bought to be a heifer bull and he did that for 3 years for us and would still be doing it if he hadn’t grown into such a massive powerful herdbull. We liked his first set of calves at such an early age that we bred him his second year to a handful of cows also. This was the result. The 23K bull has that added frame that comes from his Liberator sired dam. The Liberator bull left us some really good females who flat out produce.

We can’t color a bull any better then this one, dark red and hairy and just plain good. Another Chaos bull off a first calf heifer who did a whale of a job on her first try. A bull that we wish cooperated a little better in the picture pen to really show how good he is. We think this bull will calve really well and is an option in the heifer pen with his CE in the top 10% of the breed and his BW in the top 4%. With the likes of Chaos, Epic, Red Heat and Shear Force in the pedigree there is no shortage of calving ease on paper. These calving ease bulls that still have some power and muscle to them are our kind and we Maternal Grandsire - WHL Red Heat think will have some friends come sale day.

When we first saw the Chaos bull we liked him a lot, but to be honest we weren’t sure he would calve like his numbers said he would. He did and we would still be using him on heifers if we could. Out of a first calf Rival daughter comes the 31K bull and he is built much like the other Chaos bulls. Ample body, dark red, with that great hair coat. The 056 cow has done a great job in his first two years in production sending another bull to the keeper pen for next years sale. That’s what we like and what we ask of these young Maternal Grandsire - Wheatland Rival females, consistency.

I probably sound like a broken record talking about adding frame and pounds to the calf crop, but this is another one of these Rivals that should do that. Long spined, added bone and dark red color are what would describe this guy best. For how good the WW and YW numbers are on all these Rival sons they sure have calved well for us through the years and that’s why he has been used so heavy in our program.

The one calf crop of Drunken Sailor bulls we were able to sell topped the sale and his daughters are no different. Soft made, easy doing and out of a real consistent cow make 78K a real interesting herdsire prospect. This is the last year we had the Liberator bull and he bred very well for us, our last 2 high selling red 2 yr olds were Liberators and I believe this is the only black Liberator we have ever offered.

Wallgren Farms have been great to work with as they continually strive to produce and develop elite Simmental cattle. Brant is as keen as any young person in the industry and has done a great job in developing this consistent set of bulls. The bulls are developed on grass with their dams and then moved onto a balanced TMR that promotes lean muscle growth. Organic minerals are used to ensure proper immune function and the overall health of the bulls. The nutritional health and development of the bulls and the entire cowherd is of utmost importance and is continually being tweaked to meet environmental and seasonal conditions. If you have any questions about the nutrition program of the Wallgren bulls, feel free to call.

On behalf of Westman Animal Nutrition, we would like to thank the Waltz family for trusting in us with their cow herd nutrition advice and PerforMAX mineral needs. Congratulations on a solid group of bulls on offer, that extends back to a lineup of strong core genetics. Make sure and mark your calendar, so you don’t miss the opportunity to own some solid W2 Land & Cattle genetics!

elcome to the 6th annual W2 Land & Cattle Bull Sale, we are always thankful for this opportunity to be guest consignor in this great sale! We have really enjoyed marketing our bulls in this event the last few years and we are always excited to bring a new set of bulls to offer every year. It’s a great privilege to work alongside the Waltz family as they are truly an amazing family that are good friends of ours, they are passionate about the cattle industry and run a great operation! Our farm is located 10 miles north of Edgerton AB, where we grain farm roughly 2000 acres, and run a mix of 160 purebred/ commercial cows. We may not have quantity in our herd of Purebred Simmental cows but we have made sure that the quality is the best we can make it going forward, so that we can bring a elite set of bulls to this sale year after year. We run a top notch set of commercial cows and they play a big part in expanding our purebred genetics. We calve the commercials early with the purebreds and that way we are able to utilize them to expand our purebreds genetics with embryo transplants. Our ET program has created a new and fresh lineup of genetics and we implant 30-40 embryos every spring off our elite donors and also from some of the hottest genetics we acquire throughout different sales. This creates a strong lineup of some of the newest and most proven genetics in the breed and we continue to keep growing our herd this way. This lineup of bulls is a group that’s been sure fun to watch grow over the last year and truly a group we are darn proud of. Our bulls are fed on Bulleyes TMR based ration, and are kept in a large pen to allow ideal movement at all times as structural soundness is very important to us. Attention to detail in feeding and management we take very seriously and stand 100% behind our bulls. We feel confident we have assembled a group of bulls that represents the direction our program is aiming toward, and we are sure proud of them. You’re always welcome to stop in and have a look at the bulls and cowherd anytime of the year, we would love to show you around. Don’t hesitate to contact us about any of the bulls in the offering or give a shout to anyone on Bohrson Marketing team for their professional assistance. We would like to thank all our buyers over the previous years, everyone’s support is overwhelming and greatly appreciated! We look forward to seeing everyone sale day on February 20!

a set of full brothers we are very high on. It all started when we were on the hunt for a black donor and we came across RF Sheila 023H we liked her so much that we knew we had to own her. She is a big time donor cow that is overwhelming in terms of power, huge middled, and incredibly soft made. She is a beautiful uddered, good footed cow that has definitely been one of the greatest ones we have owned. We decided after Sheila calved that we need to flush her and when we were deciding on options RF Caliber was our first choice for her and that was definitely the right matchup. Her sons were standouts at a young age and 1 son in particular WF Capital 164L was pretty elite. We decided to show Capital this fall and he went on to be the undefeated bull calf of the fall and made tons of friends everywhere he went. He was Champion Simmental bull at Stockade, Champion king of the ring bull, Champion bull at Immortals, Champion Legends of the Fall bull, Champion Presidents Classic bull, and Champion Simmental bull at Agribition. These brothers have been very exciting to say the least and we are quite high on them. They are admired by the stoutness and soundness they possess. They are incredible on the move, huge middled, super hairy, attractive made bulls with excellent foot quality. We think these are some of the most complete black bulls we have raised and they check a lot of boxes off. Here’s the first opportunity to own full brothers to the 240,000 WF Capital.

LOT 58: Here’s a real neat individual that is striking from the profile and one that is really soft made, structurally correct and super sound. 134L is big footed and

massive bellied and one that is very impressive off a first calf heifer. His dam was purchased from Friday Nights Lights as a heifer calf from Hoegl and Greenwood and she is a beast of a cow. She sold alongside 4 full sisters that fall and they averaged $32,000. We have really liked seeing Capacity daughters in production and it is pretty hard not to like them when they make a good one like this stud, sired by the famous Walk This Way bull. This bull is a sale feature for sure!

LOT 59: Here’s a standout red bull that’s stacked with some of the best red genetics in the Simmental breed. From a young age this guy has been super stout, big middled, easy fleshing with lots of hair and look. His dam Sage is one of the best cows in the breed at the moment and she has never failed to raise a good one. There sire WTL is a past $280,000 high selling bull and has really stamped his calves with lots of jam and presence. When adding Darlin and Sage cow families together you know this match is sure to click. Here’s a great opportunity to own a maternal brother to the great Betts and Dynasty. Proven pedigree with the quality to go with. PAGE 33

A big time performance red bull that expresses tons of power, middle and dimension. This guy is big boned, massive hipped with tons of muscle shape. His dam is one of the most famous cows in the industry and she is a big time power cow. Udder and foot quality runs deep in this pedigree and bringing the $280,000 Walk the Line into the equation makes it even more exciting. This guy is a real powerhouse and he has a real neat herdbull look to him.

Here’s a real angular, big bellied, extremely stout bull that is very fluent on the move and super complete. He’s really nice in his hip shape and overall dimension with a big old top on him. His dam is a super complete, awesome uddered cow with perfect feet. His sire LFE Warzone had alot of great ones in the bull pen last year and he definitely didn’t miss this year. 153L and his dam went to a few pen shows this summer and found some friends at them. This is a real complete herd bull in the making.

Here’s a dark cherry red bull that has tons of muscle shape and is explosive in terms of power and is a very complete package. He’s a good footed, hairy, soft made bull that stems back to the nice Blackgold cow family that has worked well in our program. His dam was purchased in Friday Night Lights sale a few years back and she is very good, honest cow that goes back to Westcott x 202Z. 168L is sired by our new herdbull RF Magnitude that we are really high on and has really impressed us with his first calf crop. A solid pedigree stemming back to strong cow families.
