On behalf of this long standing pair of top quality outfits, we want to welcome all to the 2024 edition of the Ultra/Czech-Mate Bull sale, held at the new location, Ultra Livestock in their new building near Carstairs! The Chalack and Smith/Sullivan families have been lifelong friends and partners in marketing their bulls in a fun environment filled with high quality Simmental seedstock and great camaraderie and we know as you evaluate their 2024 offering, you will agree with us that it is their deepest set of bulls on offer to date. Many large sire groups and ET bulls give you the opportunity to step into 1/2, 3/4 or even full brothers to use in your own program to elevate your calf crop. The best way to get consistency is to use similar bulls and what better way to do so then by picking up closely related individuals to turn out on your cows!
Both of these programs work so hard at improving their own programs and do so many of the small things right. Their dedication to breeding sound, functional cattle with an emphasis on easy fleshing, great feet and predictably is proven here in the 75 lots up for purchase. They believe in building around superior cows and using the best bulls available in the industry and we feel this years sale bulls provide the most diversity as ever before. Red and Black Simmental bulls that offer calving ease, performance and power while remaining very attractive and Fullblood, full Fleckvieh bulls that offer growth, pigment, maternal
qualities and payweight pounds, many with a polled head or being homo polled. This sale offering is a great opportunity to come to one sale and have all your bases covered with all that is on offer. A truly exciting and unique set of bulls with individuals to fit all programs.
We could easily go on to chat about the quality of the bulls and the cow herd and programs that back them. As special as they are, what truly compliments this great set of bulls are the people that stand behind them. Both families are salt of the earth people and folks you want to do business with. They type that when you do business and shake their hands, it means something. We can’t endorse buying your bull through the Ultra Czech-Mate bull sale enough. We really encourage you to make plans to join us at Ultra Livestock on February 19th in their new building for a great set of bulls and unmatched hospitality. Be sure to reach out to any of the people listed from Ultra & Czech-Mate to visit about the bulls and to find some options that best fit your needs. All of us listed from BMS are familiar with the offering and the programs and would be pleased to assist you sale day if you are unable to attend, with our free consultation & order buying services. It is an honor for Hay Valley Ranches to be adding a welcome note. Ultra has encouraged us to participate more actively in the entire process. As a result, HVR has some very good donor cows. We have also shared ownership in some excellent bulls with “Approval” leading the way. He has semen available through
Bohrson Marketing Services and Canadian Sires. Thank you for considering our bulls. We look forward to the opportunity to reconnect with and make new friends. Ultra is simply the best!

We are very excited for this next chapter in the Ultra Czech-Mate Bull Sale as we move the sale home to Carstairs! We can’t wait to welcome you to the beautiful new sales facility that our friends at Ultra Livestock have built on the farm. Good friendships are what keep the cattle industry moving, and we have been fortunate to have the Chalack’s; Riley, Cassidy, Tim and Cathy; as sales partners these past 21 years and friends for longer. As we move the sale home to their farm yard we hope to continue our successful partnership for many more years to come. We hope that you will be able to join us Family Day Monday February 19th to check out the new facilities, and to help us open this next chapter with a bang!
We are extremely proud of the pen of bulls that we are presenting this year. They come from the strongest parts of our maternal donor pen, dams and granddams that have over produced themselves time and time again. Along with sires that have added impressive power, performance and muscle to the entire pen. This set of bulls are from top to bottom one of the strongest, highest performing and most muscled groups we’ve put together. You’ll find bulls with some added frame, length and size; as well as a few calving ease and heifer bull prospects that don’t lack for pounds on the scale.
With the late summer rains the bulls were able to stay on grass with their dams till weaning beginning of September, and had no creep feed. Once weaned the bulls were moved to a 12-acre pen that we feel allows them to get out and move and develop their athleticism. We hand bucket feed them with the help of our junior division, and we are very
pleased with the exceptional temperament on the entire group. We have continued to feed the Masterfeeds Textured Ration with barley/wheat silage and free choice hay; supplemented with free choice salt and mineral lick tubs. The bulls have all been double dosed with Fosugaurd, been treated with a dose of Clean Up at weaning and Silence in the Winter, along with their regular whole herd health.
Don’t forget that on each bull’s picture you will find a QR code that you can scan to view their videos. Simply point your phones camera at the QR code on the picture you are looking at, and a link will appear for the video. Click the link and it will take you to the video. Stay tuned to our Facebook page in the lead up to the sale as we will be highlighting individual bulls, along with their cow families behind them. We also always welcome anyone out to the farm, just east of Carstairs, to tour through the bull pen ahead of time and to view the dams and sisters in the herd. We are located 2 miles off Highway 2, 45 minutes North of Calgary and 45 south of Red Deer.
If you can not make it to the sale we are confident in the Bohrson Marketing team’s ability to answer any questions you may have. You can also contact our fieldman Jay Wildman, he has been through the pen and is very familiar with our program. The sale will also be available to watch online on DLMS this year, and we welcome you to view the sale videos there ahead of time as well.
We look forward to seeing you sale day at the Ultra Livestock farm by Carstairs, Family Day Monday February 19th, 2024. Sale is at 1pm and there will be lunch served ahead of time!

PR Man is a true sale feature. 32L was our lead bull in our show string this past fall. He was a part of our Pair of two champion Bulls at Farm Fair. Pen of Three Champion bulls at Farm Fair. Along with our Pen of Five Champion group of bulls at Farm fair this past fall. 32L is a bull with loads of depth and capacity. His dark blood red pigment draws your attention from a far. Huge topped and wide hipped with that loose hide. Impressive stats, 935 weaning, 1549 adjusted yearling. We’ve sold many sons from 43C Cottonball our leading cow family. Past high selling red bull through our 2021 sale was to Fallen Timber farms for $26,000. We will have 32L on display at the Heartland Cattlemen’s Classic in Stettler Alberta on January, 26th/27th as well stop in at the farm anytime. We look forward to utilizing PR Man 32L in our herd as we will be retaining semen for our in-herd use. Has frozen semen already and will sell with 150 doses. Owned With Hay Valley Ranches.
Ramblin Man 37L is another stout bodied, long made son from MRL PR Man; a bull Hay Valley Ranches and us purchased from MRL for $42,500. 37L was a part of our Pen Show Champions at Farm Fair. Champion Pair of two Bulls with TC 32L. Champion Pen of Three bulls, he also was apart of our Champion Pen of Five Bulls. These PR Man sons are standouts in the bull pen, full of length, muscle and easy doing type cattle. Weaning off at 975, yearling weight of 1475. 37L comes to the top of our list in the pen for being the stoutest hipped as well having that extra rib making him the longest bull. Barlee Zendetta 102J is the dam of this incredible herd bull, she herself is sired by the great female maker himself Liner 56U. Zendetta 102J is a long made, dark red, beautiful young cow that made her way to the flush pen fast, were expecting a few full sibs this winter and expect great things again.
Lethal Weapon 63L is a powerfully constructed bull coming from the phenomenal donor cow, WFL Sage. Sired by SVS Rancher who is quickly making a name for himself, producing strong footed, long attractive frontend and deep bodied progeny. 63L has all the bells and whistles in our opinion, extremely sound footed and tracks out effortless. A bull you will travel a lot of miles to find as attractive skulled with a clean frontend and a sweeping rib cage. He ranks among the breeds top precents in his EPD spread within all category’s. 63L was a part of our group of bulls that were named Champion Pen of Five at Farm Fair this past fall. We think a lot of this bull, early maturity, with large testicular development, we plan to use Lethal Weapon heavily in our program. Has frozen semen already and will sell with 150 doses. Owned with Barlee Simmentals.
ULTRA/BARLEE
71L
71L is a full brother to Lethal Weapon, out of the great WFL Sage donor, that has produced countless amounts of high selling females and breed leading sires. Lawless 71L was part of our Pen of Five Champion bulls at Farm Fair alongside his brother and pen mates. 63L & 71L type very close in style and shape which backs the consistency of the Sage/ Rancher combination. If you take a close look through his EPD spread you’ll notice he has a CE of 12.2, and ranks in the top 10% of the breed for WW and YW. Once again, a bull with tremendous testicular development from a young age, loads of hair and dark pigmentation. Owned with Barlee Simmentals.
HVAL
156L is a typical PR Man son, long, loose hided with loads of rib shape. Coming from the “Wanda” cow family once again they have produced every year standout progeny. This will be 178C’s 9th bull through our sales. We have a large group of Embryo Calves on the ground born this January that we’re excited about to showcase 178C in next year’s bull sale again. Owned with Hay Valley Ranches.
Red Blaze Bull. PR Man stamped this guy with some great attributes, attractive frontend, lots of hair. Herd bull presences. Long bodied and smooth on the move, this is a bull we really admire. Comes from the “Cassey” cow family that has made a huge impact on our herd and has stood the test of time with their longevity through the original TC 135N Cassey who we had till she was 18 years old.
#CA-PG1436077
Red Blaze face bull. This guy is a chunk! It’s very easy to find these MRL PR Man bulls in the pen, quiet dispositions, and easy fleshing. Loads of maternal strength throughout 70L pedigree, with his granddam being the great Spring Creek Tess 25T, a female that we just lost this last year. Longevity is bred into this guy.
Really dark red, power bull. Awesome disposition on this guy, enjoys the attention. As all the PR Man sons he’s smooth built, flexible, and long spined. We really enjoy the dam of this guy, moderate framed red cow that has lots of milk that always brings her calf in extra chubby every fall. We have sold two high quality maternal sisters to 66L through Friday Night lights sale to Mader Ranches and Sunny Valley Simmentals. This will be TC 30B’s 4th son to come through our bull sale.

Powerful red bull with extra length and frame, straight from the “Wanda” Cow family. Really easy doing MRL PR Man son that is complete made and easy to look at. 51F Wanda raised a strong baldie bull last year that found a lot of friends, 55L is sure to impress as well. We have bred 51F back this same way and look forward to her 2024 calf being the same high quality as 55L is. Owned With Hay Valley Ranches.
Sire: Dam:
Feature Crossroad Apollo son. Red Blaze face. Full brother to one of our high sellers in last year’s sale to Six Mile. Crow Button is a beauty of a little cow that is proving to out produce herself each year, once again we have mated her back to Apollo and await her 2024 calf in hopes for another blaze bull! 140L is identical to his brother last year, long bodied, stout topped, square hipped with that attractive front and skull that completes his outline. 140L is easy to find when walking among the bull pens and is a bull we hold in high regards. Make sure to have a check mark beside this guy Feb,19th. Owned with Hay Valley Ranches.
CROSSROAD APOLLO
ULTRA MISS PRIDE 28F
192L would rival any in the pen for his dark red pigment. An end of February born bull that has explosive growth! Full brother sold last year as a lead off red bull. This is back-to-back years 28F has smoked it out of the park on raising some high-quality beef bulls! Apollo got hurt on us that season of breeding resulting in only three sons on offer from him this year. Last year the Apollos were high demand sire group so be sure to watch closely when these boys sell.
Maternal powerhouse. 21L is Backed by some breed leading genetics, sired by Spring Creek Liner 56U a bull that has had a large impact on the breed and is known for beautiful females. Direct son from Wanda 178C, a cow that has two sons and three grandsons in our offering this year. 178C is a big framed and ribbed cow that is worth the time to check out in the flesh. Owned With Hay Valley Ranches.

WLB Top Tier son that leads the way in the red calve ease bull section. Soft made bull with a great hair coat. Easy moving bull out of a first calf heifer that did a big-time job on this guy her first crack at it. The reports on Top Tier are outstanding, easy calving cattle that have large growth rates once on the ground. Proof is in the pudding with this guy as he weaned off at 1000 pounds and sits at the top 10% of the breed in weaning weight and yearling weight EPD’s.

Just when we thought they couldn’t be darker red... this guy walks by! Sired by the $42,000 high seller from the Czech Mate program, we purchased this guy in dam from Downhill Simmentals. Take a stroll through his pedigree you’ll find the ever so popular “Drake Poker Face” “Mader Way This Way” and the great MRL Missile! Red calving ease bull that has lots of bells and whistles. EPD stats he sits the top 4% in the breed for birth weight with a 13.4, top 10% for Calve ease with a -0.3, top 10% for Maternal Calve ease. Starting out at a modest 76 pounds and weaning off at 880, I’d say his dam really strutted her stuff this first walk through the park on this bull.

There are a few options here for a red heifer bull or one for your young cows, we feel 112L is another candidate. A very nice spread through his EPD stats, 11.1 CE, 0.8 BW and an 8.2 maternal calving ease. If you read closely throughout a few lots before this guy you can see the Crow Button cow family is coming back here on this guy. TC 140L our feature “Apollo” son is from the same cow family the “Buttons”. Once again, the great “Mader Walk This Way” found his way to another heifer and calved out very well. Proven calve ease sires sit in the back of this bull’s pedigree such as, WAGR Driver, Loaded Up, and Cobra. 112L has the recipe that is tried and true.
Dark cherry hair with an excessive amount of hair. Loads of pigment and Red to the ground. Leading man 50L has been a favorite of many that have been through these bulls from early summer to date. Very adequate in his build, long smooth with loads of meat. Weaning off at 1040. Out of a very impressive cow family, Wild West MS Xiang, we were fortunate enough to acquire these embryos from our good friends at Black Gold Simmentals. Sired by Reputation who has made an everlasting mark on the industry. Full brother to TC 85L. Hetero Polled, Non Diluter.
Full brother to TC 50L. A real neat package here, very much like his brother 50L, loaded with a thick hair coat. Big strong topped bull with extra length and frame. Dark sound footed pair of brothers that have been admired by many visitors throughout the year. We are excited to be having sibs to these bulls hitting the ground here the first of January and the colour pattern is predictable and were excited to showcase next year’s calf crop again already! Out of a 14-year-old cow with picture perfect feet and leg structure, these guys are high quality beef bulls. Homo Polled, Non Diluter.

Pretty exciting bull here, these shamrock sons were a high demand last year and rightfully so should be again this year. Dark coloured with herd bull presence. Posted a 1050 weaning weight. Full of thickness that will be exciting to see him pass on that natural big round hip structure to his progeny. Sibelle POL Rose anna has been a breeding machine for us, this marks her 4th bull through our sale and has had a high light son each year. Awesome dispositions on all three sons. We purchased the dam of this bull from the highly reputable Black Gold Simmentals, TC 54L marks her 4th bull to come through the bull sale. She is a favorite on the ranch, picture perfect udder and awesome temperament, really an ideal ranch cow. Homo Polled, Non Diluter.
A little extra length and frame in this Shamrock brother but still the explosive thickness. 113L is Uplola 41F 3rd bull calf to come through our bull sale. Maternal sister to 113L sold through Friday Night Lights to Hoegl Simmentals for $33,000. We really admire 041F she’s one of the most elegant females we have on the ranch, were excited to be flushing her this spring to add more of her gene pool to build off of. Once again, I don’t think you could draw a better udder or silhouette of a production cow. Homo Polled, Non Diluter.

We feel this is one of the strongest sets of Fleck bulls we’ve offered. 101L is in a league of his own, big haired, big bodied. Slightly the pen pet you could say, always looking for a scratch needless to say he is ranked #1 for docility. A bull we have admired from a young age and gets better and better every day. Have this guy on your shortlist, he’s worth the drive to the Ranch February 19th where we will hold the Ultra/ Czech-Mate bull sale for the first time at our new sale location! 186H is a hard working young dam of this bull along with a recent female we sold through Friday Night Lights for $30,000 to Masterloc. 186H has proved her worth in weight and gold the first two cracks at production and we can’t wait to see what she comes up with next. Non-Diluters, with a great set of EPD stats to stand behind them. We feel this is a great testament of what WJS 748E can produce. If you’re looking for extra frame and length have a close look here, the Havoc progeny have impressive stats. We have always been a fan of TC 23L, stout made and long as the CP Train when you’re running late. TC 8L and TC 201L type very similar, smooth made bulls that would work great on a set of young cows as they’re lower birth weights and smooth build will make for a nice 2nd or 3rd calver. WJS 748E and her sister WJS 749E have been the backbone for our Fullblood division, two females that are hard to pick apart. They’re big, framed cows with awesome udders and feet structure. We have sold sons each year through this sale, we feel these five brothers could be some of her best work yet.

Heifer Bull Alert. Triple 1 L is as dark as any in the pen. Smooth built, long spined with solid frame. There’s a lot of great pieces to this young herd bull in the making. Strong feet and legs, a bull that we believe would fit in nicely on heifers or cows. His beautiful young dam did a ripper job on this cowboy her first lap around the track. Ms Lane from Rafter 4T is just starting her story book here and we see a bright future ahead on this exceptional female. Anchor D Hefner, Homo Polled calve ease sire has done a real solid job at that, we had another group of calves from heifers this winter already, were very pleased with them once again. We think you will admire this sire group, smooth shoulder very well-balanced bulls. The 723E x Trailblazer combination is proven, Last year two full brothers were the lead off bulls through the ring selling to Outlaw Cattle Co. and Bar T 5. We have now sold three full sisters from this mating as well as two maternal sisters to Johnston Ranching, Bar CL and 2k springs, Crowe Brothers, Westbrook and Westman and Jody Jorgenson. With a CE number of 12.9 to a 132.9 yearling EPD. 19L excels in a high Marbling EPD with a API and TI in the top 4% of the breed. We purchased his dam from Sunny valley Simmentals out of Friday Night Lights, in which she has turned into a flawless female that is proving to become a front pasture female. Backed by some of the breeds most impressive pedigrees, Soda pop, Drake Poker Face, LCDR Witness and KWA Slider. Homo Polled, Homo Black.
Black blaze faced. A really neat individual here coming from an in-dam purchase from McMillen Ranching female sale in 2022 as the high selling black bred Crowe Brothers purchased. Agent Lynx is a bull that demands your attention when you walk through the pen. Lots of style, carries himself with pride and the blaze face always adds extra excitement. MRL 1424J was a female we flushed last spring with a handful of impressive black and black blaze calves on the ground. If you take a stroll through 250L pedigree you’ll find the likes of IPU Bentley, Hart State of War. MRL Bender and the. Most impressive TSN 55W donor. If you’re on the search for a Homo Polled/Homo Black calve ease herd sire we think this guy should be a part of that conversation. Once again, a bull that is as strong as any on paper and in the flesh. Terms to be announced sale day. Homo Polled, Homo Black. Owned with Crowe Bros.

THIS IS SPARTA!! 300L; a standout from day one. A true herd bull candidate this bull is impressive from every angle. Starting from the ground up, Sparta!! Stands on a large square toed foot and carries massive bone up into a heavy muscled hind quarter. He is stout as you can make them with extreme depth of body and a very strong top tying into a nice shoulder. His darker red hair coat and piles of hair add to his mature herd bull look from a young age. He moves out like a cat and has the length of spine and frame size to get out and cover cows. With an actual weaning of 868lbs with no creep and an adjusted yearling weight of 1540lbs (1390 mid December) his performance EPDs reflect the sheer power, performance, and completeness of this individual. His dam is a great uddered young Empire daughter that we really like, the mating with Walk The Line stacks maternal powerhouses and longevity on top of this outstanding individual in his own right. Sparta!! 300L will be a favourite come sale day and will go out and produce herd bulls just like himself. 279 days gestation. Homo Polled, NonDiluter.
Draw the Line was part of our Agribition show team last fall and caught the attention of many breeders. We always admired his sire, and in our opinion, 372L reminds us so much of the great WTL bull! He has the presence to be a herd bull -with style to burn, length of body, wide top, huge hip and dark red color, Draw the Line is one to check out. His EPD profile is outstanding with all but 2 traits above, or well above breed average. (WWT of 100.3 -top 1%, YWT of 147.1 - top 2% and a MWWT of 79.1 - top 2%) He had a birthweight of 94 lbs and arrived at 280 days gestation with an actual weaning weight of 942 lbs at 232 days along with an adjusted yearling weight of 1454 lbs. Performance oriented, but coming from our Heirloom cow family, he carries tremendous maternal strength! His dam is one of our top young cows sired by TNT Bootjack - her first bull sold in last years sale to Greg Pennock at Elnora and her only daughter, CMS 071H, is the dam of our Lot 67 bull. Look to Draw the Line 372L to be a solid candidate to go on and be a great one! Homo Polled, NonDiluter.

Lots 56, 57 & 58: THREE FLUSH BROTHERS: Three flush brothers sired by Walk the Line and each a top prospect! We are thrilled with how Walk the Line worked in our herd with 11 of our 22 bulls in this sale sired by him, and a great set of heifer calves we are really excited about in our replacement pen. The best part of these brothers’ pedigree is possibly their dam CMS Heirloom 112Y! She has influence in 11 of our 22 sale lots as well - an incredible cow who we have bred/flushed to numerous bulls all with great success. This mating may be her best yet and at 13 years of age, we continue to flush her hoping to add to her legacy here. Numerous sons have sold into purebred herds as well as top commercial operations and with only 3 daughters every offered for sale, the rest have all been kept in herd. These three brothers have a lot to offertop EPD’s, most well above breed average, each have WWT’s in the top 2%, YWT and MWWT in the top 3%. Excellent feet, great body length, extra muscle shape combined with lots of hair and testicle development make these brothers very desirable. We truly believe all three will be a great addition to anyones bull battery and are excited to offer them to the industry - they will sire a tremendous set of calves! Homo Polled, Non-Diluter.

An overall exceptional complete bull out of a dam that has since entered our donor program. Homo Polled, Homo Black.
380L came to us in dam from the R+ dispersal last fall. His dam is is a really deep ribbed first calver with a good udder who had quite a differnt pedigree for us with both McSteamy and Hammertime up close. Willard is very stylish with a great hair coat and boasts n adjusted YWT of 1412 lbs and has gained over 4 lbs/day since weaning. He will sire all black calves that will have plenty of style and growth to gather a top dollar come sale time. Homo Black, Lightly Scurred.
A bull who has impressed from the beginning with his long spine, big hip, smooth shoulder and being extremely attractive made. He is a calving ease prospect with his nice front end, 86 lbs. birthweight, and being in the top 10% for calving ease and 2% for birth weight in EPD’s. Being out of our Soda Pop 519C donor dam and Walk The Line he is a ¾ sib to the outstanding CMS Strutter 126J bull who sold for $42,000 to Downhill Simmentals. Following in his brothers foot steps he will be a versatile bull that can be used on both heifers and cows, and produce a consistent calf with some chrome, a smooth shoulder and big hip. We have already seen the first calves from Strutter hit the ground here and are very impressed with the ease of calving, short gestation, vigour as well as the shape and size of every calf off both first calvers and mature cows. “Sue” is a bull who will go out and impress for years to come and should produce bulls and females that will follow in his footsteps.
