Welcome to another Stars of the Valley Sale. This sale is one of the
longest running annual sales in Canada. The Ottawa Valley is known for the excellent Simmental cattle, programs and especially the people that have made those past years as successful as they were. We are thankful for working with such a great team at Bohrson Marketing. It is great to hear that our breeders are allowing cattle to be selected right off the top of their herds. We have tried very hard to have a live in person sale this year but with the uncertainties in dealing with the issues related to COVID, we are moving forward with a online only sale format through DLMS. It will be the same format as last year’s sale. We encourage you to visit the consignors’ operations prior to the sale. We hope you can take in this great sale. auction will be farm gate style how to participate in the dlms farm gate timed auction with extended bidding: 1.Visit https://farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your user name and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions.
4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding for 5 minute if a bid
is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after 6 PM will extend the sale by 5 minutes from the time of that bid. When no bidding occurs for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished.
5. Within 24 hours of the sale close the Sale Manager, Bohrson Marketing Services will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot.

There is a lot of history behind the Ottawa Valley Simmental Club and we are excited to work together with the group
to continue building on that legacy. The past few sales have seen this strong group of breeders step up and offer their best animals and everyone is raising the bar together. Breeders who have invested in Stars Of The Valley cattle have had success with their purchases of herd building females and cornerstone donors. The 2021 offering is as deep as ever and the quality we found in our tours was truly impressive - there are a lot of good Simmental cattle in a close geographic area! As Rob and Jaxon toured in July, they were both new to the consignors and programs and were very impressed with the herds and especially the quality people involved. Each club member realizes they have to dig deep and offer their highest quality to fit in with the rest of the set. It has been encouraging to see the new members that are joining the sale with cattle and of course the offering continues to be anchored by those legacy breeders that have built this event up to its current status by showing leadership and bringing their best cattle. As you study the sale offering,
know that it has been carefully selected by the breeders and our BMS team to offer high quality cattle with all of the attributes to be successful for their new owners and be positive investments. For 2021 the sale will continue to be operated as a DLMS Farm Gate timed auction as it was last year. With the proximity of these breeders, it offers the opportunity for people to efficiently travel around to see the sale offering in their natural setting, along with learning about each breeder’s operation and viewing related cattle. We encourage you to get out and do that on of before October 16 so you are prepared to participate in the sale on Saturday evening. Our BMS team is familiar with all of the cattle and operations and will be touring them again for an update prior to the sale, so please reach out with any questions if you are unable to personally visit all of these breeders. Videos of all of the sale cattle will also be available for your evaluation, but we do strongly encourage you to grab some friends and jump in a vehicle to see things in person as we know you will be impressed. When we decided to breed our American Pride daughter to Captain Morgan, it wasn’t much of a gamble. The outcome was this gorgeous baldie heifer with the predictably and performance of Captain Morgan with the style of American Pride. Her mother has been a terrific producer, easy keeping with a great udder. If you want a heifer that can be competitive in the show ring and make a foundation cow, Reba has that potential. Hera is a moderate framed, compact, powerful heifer with goggle eyes and light colouring but a heifer that has grown on me over the summer. Hera was just the different one of the group; she won’t be the biggest heifer but she will produce. She is off of Esposito who, in my opinion, produces some good females. He’s the full brother to FGAF Electric Avenue. She has part of a horn coming back but she still looks great. Her mother is a good producer and has another full sister to Hera. Everyone has favourite cows in their herd. This heifer’s dam and grand-dam are two of mine, very consistent year after year. Add in the Kananaskis cow on the sire side, gives a lot of cow power. Harmony is an attractive heifer, dark red with a bit of white, easy to spot in the group. She is moderate sized, thick, triple polled, full fleck and should have a nice udder. Greyledge Red Dawn has been an exceptional cow for us. We bought her at this club sale a few years ago, seemed expensive at the time, but is proving to be worth every cent of it. It doesn’t seem to matter how she is mated, she always brings home a top calf (has another one this year). I think this heifer is probably the best purebred we have sold to date.
