WELCOME WELCOME
from from
On behalf of our family, we would like to invite and welcome everyone to our 6th Annual Bull Sale on March 31,2023. We are excited to once again host the sale at our place and were very happy with how things went last year moving it home. We encourage anyone who has time before the sale to come and look at the bulls and check out their dams and sisters as well. We love showing people around and visiting about the cattle. If you are unable to make the sale or have any questions, Bohrson Marketing is once again on board and have been through the cattle. We can certainly handle any phone bids come sale day, and as well it will be broadcasted live on DLMS.

It seems hard to believe how fast time flies by, as it seems we were just getting ready for last years sale. We are getting settled into our new house and have really enjoyed being in the main yard. The kids are growing up and have taken on more responsibility, even though they are only 13, 11, and 9. Rachele and I appreciate all the help they give, and when we say its family run its family run. We somehow manage to get everything done without outside help from calving, to pictures, to breeding and so on. It’s a little hectic at times but feel very fortunate on how we are able to raise our family. The kids are also keeping busy between Volleyball, Basketball, and hockey. They are getting more and more into showing cattle and their 4H projects. We need to give a thank you to Rachele’s Dad Randal for keeping everything running smoothly day to day when we aren’t always around.
It’s been a tough few years lately in regards to moisture not only in our area but a large part of western Canada. We were blessed with some good moisture in June and things looked a lot better than they have for a long time. July hit and things dried up pretty quickly. We have had some moisture this winter and have been fortunate to get some runoff to fill low spots and dugouts. It’s been an unusual winter with warm temps helping out during calving and easing up on the feed bill. Things are looking optimistic in the cow calf sector with a shortage of cows and with any luck the moisture will continue, and everyone will be in for some good years ahead.
I thought our cows performed well this year. Our bull pen is the most consistent it has ever been. The cows weaned big calves and bred back very well as a whole. We had a good preg check and calving has went smoothly thus far. Our goal is to have low maintenance cattle, who get it done on their own with little supervision and management. They need to be able to travel tough terrain and we have a real heavy focus on foot and udder quality with these cows. There is something for everyone in the bull pen. Our focus for the bulls is to provide our customers good footed, hairy, deep sided, thick calves with added look. Of course we want these bulls to sire added performance, but more importantly add maternal value to a calf crop as we believe everything revolves around the cow.
As always, the bulls are available for viewing anytime, and of course their dams will be also readily accessible. The ranch is located just 5 miles from Medicine Hat, and we would love to have you over for a visit. We hope to provide you with a very good bull buying experience and will do everything we can to accomplish that. We will stand behind these bulls 100%, and you have my word we will look after you to the best of our ability. We would like to thank all of our past customers and friends who have supported us in the past. It truly means a lot to us and we feel very privileged to do what we do.
Any questions feel free to reach out and we hope to talk and see you soon. Ashton and Rachele

WEANING WEIGHT DATE October 1, 2022
YEARLING WEIGHT DATE January 29, 2023
It is again a pleasure to be working with the progressive and hardworking folks at Riverfront Angus Ranch. Ashton and family take great pride in raising angus genetics and the quality of bulls on offer continues to increase every year. There is a very uniform group on offer for the 6th annual sale.
The bulls are slowly developed on a forage-based, total mixed ration that is balanced to maximize the bull’s genetic potential and to promote lean muscle growth, enhancing the longevity of the bulls. It is important that rumen health stays a priority throughout every stage of the bull’s development, therefore, the diet utilizes a chelated mineral package to enhance the bull’s immunity and complement the bull’s growth patterns as they develop. The Riverfront cowherd utilizes a chelated mineral package throughout the year which is essential to the overall health and longevity of the sale bulls on offer. The nutrition and development of the bulls along with the entire cow herd is continually being monitored to meet environmental and season conditions to compliment the animal’s overall health.
If you have any questions about the nutrition or sale bulls, please feel free to contact me. Best

Its always interesting to pick the bull to lead off the catalog. 222K has been a favourite from a very early age and has continued on through weaning and into the winter months. The bull has everything we are looking for in trying to raise for our customers. He is moderate at birth with an 81 lb birthweight and was 1 of only a few to sport an actual WW of 900 lbs. He is long made, strong footed, and has a herd bull look. His pedigree is loaded with great cow families, including the Roses, Annie K’s and Emblynettes. His Hesston dam out did herself on her first calf and bred back early to catch first cycle again. The Annie K cow family is one of our strongest and it was all started here with the grandam 144Z.

209K caught your attention right from birth. He has been stout and hairy from day 1. It shoudln’t be shocking considering the lineage that comes with him. His pedigree is stacked with maternal greatness. The Firebrand cattle have worked very well here and the granddam 414B was probably one of the best cows to walk our place. Unfortunately, we lost her to injury, and now we are relying on daughters to carry on her legacy. 209K himself is soft made, big ribbed, and deep sided. A maternal brother was a feature bull in last years sale to Weiss Ranching.

221K is a bull we really appreciate. He is a super thick made bull, with added muscle shape and bone. He is extremely good footed, with added heel depth and proper claw structure. To top it off he has great hair and acts like a big teddy bear. He sports a desirable 88 lb birthweight and has an actual weaning weight of 825 lbs. His dam has been a consistent producer since we acquired her. Her first son sold to Abbey Sorstad and first daughter is one of our favourite 2 year olds in the pen. She is a long made, level uddered cow, who is structurally correct.

FIREBRAND 208K 2271050 | RFA 208K | JANUARY 05 2022
Lot 4 is another good-looking Firebrand son that stood out during pasture checks this summer. He is a moderate made bull with extra thickness and shape to him. Typical of the Fireband cattle he has extra hair and is solid footed. His dam is a great young cow who has put her first 2 bull calves in the sale. Her first son went to Lawrence and Linda Wilson. She is a deep bodied wedge-shaped female who is as pretty as the come. The stunner cattle have been very well accepted and 910 hails from 2 generations of our best cattle.
FIREBRAND 255K 2268931 | RFA 255K | FEBRUARY 16 2022

We really like these Firebrand sons for the consistency they offer. There’s great value for the commercial producer as the calving ease, performance, foot quality and extra hair are always there. 255K exemplifies these traits. His mother is a beautiful cow, she is deep ribbed and awesome uddered. Her first son sold to Waldners in Swift Current and was a feature bull in the 2021 sale.

I’m starting to sound like a broken record on this set of brothers. When you analyze 216K, again you find a ton of thickness and shape. A strong top and big crest are also apparent. Another bull that surpassed the 800lb mark at weaning. Lot 6 is as solid as the come. His upward dam has been a producer in her young career. Her first daughter was a standout and is now producing very well with a feature bull in this sale. Her first son sold last year to Erwin Schlenker farms.
Riverfront
Another cookie cutter Firebrand. Strong topped, proud fronted, and out of a Density sired cow. Big time maternal package here that will add some look and style to a calf crop. 707 is a solid cow who had a son sell in last years sale to Rod Nelson Farms.
Riverfront

Lot 8 would be the last Firebrand son to sell. If you are looking to keep daughters in the herd, he may check all the boxes. His dam is a front pasture cow at our place. She is massive, perfect uddered and great footed. Her first calf sold to KCH Cattle Co for $26000 and went on to show successfully. She descends from the famous Primrose cow family that produced the breed legend EXT.

9 BLACK GOLD 207K 2268913 | RFA 207K | JANUARY 05 2022 lot

207K is a bull people will find on sale day. Black Gold was a bull we sampled and were impressed by the birth to weaning spread. The calves came easy and really grew. This bull is maybe the longest bull in the entire pen, and it shows with his above average weaning and yearling weight. The Earnan cows are some of our best and 602 is a good example of that. She is great uddered, pretty fronted and wedge shaped. Her first 2 sons have made the sale and 207K would be the best one yet.

The lot 10 bull is certainly impressive, and outcross to our program. The Bloodline bull brought a lot of excitement to the industry for his performance and exceptional dam. 217K is a prime example of the jam in his pedigree. He weaned off surpassing the 800 lb mark and is at the top of the pen in terms of adg on feed. He has a herd bull look, thick fuzzy hair, and loads of middle. The dam 8006 is a great Bank Note daughter being level uddered, big bellied, and hails from the Madame Pride cow family from SAV.

211K would be an outlier in in our pen of bulls in terms of both pedigree and performance. He would have the biggest spread from birth to weaning and also be the high adg bull on feed. An 82 lb birthweight and adjusted 365 day weight over 1300 lbs. If you want to add some base width and depth of rib this would be the bull. His 2-year-old dam did an outstanding job on her first try. She is a moderate made cow who is heavy milking and bred back early and calved on the first cycle.

Another big time weaning bull out of just a 2-year-old. We are extremely pleased with these 2 year olds weaning our biggest calves and breeding back the first cycle. 202K is an extremely long made bull with above average extension in his front 1/3. He is soggy middled and super gentle. His dam was a very impressive 2-year-old that Paisley showed successfully in her first year showing. A full sib to the dam is also very impressive. The Annie K cow family has been as good as any in producing females that flat out work.

Lot 13 and 14 are a pair of flush brothers sired by SAV Hesston. We have been very happy with the hesston daughters. The performance is above average and the udder quality is as well. The dam came from the Angus Collection sale and was a feature bred heifer from Hamilton Farms. 229K would be about as soggy and thick as we have made one. He was impressive all summer and was one of the heaviest bulls at weaning. Once on feed, he has taken off and became our heaviest bull when this was being wrote. He is big boned, big hipped, and big time in our opinion. 227K is built a little different being cleaner fronted, long spined, and modest at birth with a 72 lb birthweight.

Lot 18 is one of our favourites and has been for a very long time. This is the first year of selling the Bank Note 8055 sons and we feel very fortunate that Westway Farms gave us the opportunity to walk him the last 2 years. He was an extremely impressive bull in the flesh and comes from an unbelieveable cow. We have retained a bunch of heifers, but are very pleased with how the bull calves turned out as well. 246 in his own right is built like a truck. He has extra bone, extra width, depth, and is a meat machine. He is hairy and one of the softest natured bulls in the pen. His performance has been right there considering he is a little younger than his pen mates and his ratios prove that. The cow has stood the test of time and was one of our first purchases. She has once again calved this winter and is as good footed as any cow on the place. Longevity bred in.

284K would be the youngest bull in the sale but don’t overlook him. He has had a look at me look all summer. He had an impressive weaning weight, surpassing many bulls born earlier. He is up headed, full of shape and character. His dam is a very attractive Fuel Up daughter, who is moderate made, excellent footed and uddered. She would be a maternal sister to the 811F female we sold to Ter-Ron farms who was shown very successfully.

Lot 24 is a sleep all night calving ease bull born at 72 lbs out of his first calving Black Gold dam. The Impulse bull was purchased to breed our heifers, and did a very good job. He is a unique calving ease bull with an extreme amount of muscle shape, outstanding foot quality, and Angus character. We really like his dam for her body shape and udder quality.
Trust was a bull we sampled this year wanting to incorporate a little different pedigree. 259 is an extremely deep sided, loose hided, soft made bull. He is hairy and strong footed. 913 is a nice young cow with a straight Canadian pedigree. The granddam was a very attractive cow with loads of volume and fault free structure.

The Renovation cattle have taken the industry by storm the last couple of years. 241K would probably be the best son we have raised out of our Renovation son. There is a lot to like, desirable 88 lb birthweight, the calves will come easy and grow well. He ratioed very well on his 205 and 365 day weight. He is extremely deep sided, big ribbed, big hipped, and proud fronted. We love his Big Sky dam, she possesses everything we are looking for in our cows. She would be the grandam of the good lot 4 bull.
Another Renovation son with an 81 lb birthweight and respectable performance. 271 is a bull we really like. He is square made, attractive, and deep sided. His dam is a great cow and naturally raised the 2018 Reserve Champion Angus Female at Canadian Western Agribition that sold to TerRon farms. She is great footed, solid udderred, and easy to be around.

Riverfront
Lot 28 is a calving ease option. We used the sire on our heifers with good luck and the added touch of element on the bottom side adds a little more calving ease. The 8099 sons are long made and proud fronted. The 902 cow produced a heifer approved bull last year going to Connell Ranches.
Riverfront
A March calf here with a 84 lb birthweight and adequate numbers in terms of weaning and yearling. The Renovation x Banknote combo should work well. The dam is probably the biggest bodied cow on our place. She is unique in terms of body being as wide as she is tall and combines above average bone and foot quality. The grandam was unfortanlty lost early and would have entered our donor pen.
Riverfront

274 is a typical Renovation son and looks very much like his sire. He is proud fronted, smooth shouldered, and long made. His bank note dam hails from the Missy Gal cow family we got into from Brooking Angus Ranch. That line of females are big bodied, long made, and powerful in type.
