To say that 2023 was a whirlwind year is an understatement, but we have complied an impressive group of yearling bulls, coming 2-year-old bulls and open females, and we can honestly say these are the best yet. Over the years we have been compiling a group of prolific females to build this powerful set of calving ease, maternal orientated bulls that are built around structure, fertility, longevity and much more. As you study the catalog you will find the absolute best, we have to offer from front to the back of the catalog. Rest assured we have sorted this offering for 100% soundness and fully guaranteed to do their job efficiently. We strive to make it our mission for you, our customers to purchase problem free herd sires to add value to your operations.

A new year always brings new and exciting genetics here at Pheasantdale, with the addition of our new walking herd sires SVS Triumph 81J and McIntosh Hancock 19J along with new AI sires such as KWA Slider 196H and CKCC Dimension 8965 which we are excited to bring their first calf crops to our ring. These new sire groups have added style, bone, depth, and overall capacity to our red and black program and have by far blown us out of the water. We are pleased to offer red, black and fullblood future herd sires that have a cross section of calving ease and performance, which many are curve benders for both. We can ensure that these bulls are built for profitability and come from a program that fully stands behind their product. Welcome to the “20th Anniversary Sale” for the Pheasantdale program. Over the early years in the Simmental breed the Stilborn family established themselves as a mainstay in the Simmental industry with many accolades. Pheasantdale Cattle Co. was recognized last November at the Yorkton Harvest Hoedown for their longstanding commitment to this great event.

Lionel, Pat, Lee, CoraLee & Hadley proudly present this 2024 sale offering. Pheasantdale has a strong commercial base of customers and the purebred participation has a active following with their herd sire selections and progressive AI program. This year, buyers have many outstanding options, from the deep selection of black baldy, red baldy, and solid colored bulls. The 3 fullbllood fellas will be popular once again sale day. The SVS Triumph sons will headline the red division with their depth, muscling and birthweight consistency. The black category offers the first sons of McIntosh Hancock with many headliners. The 20+ long yearlings will cover larger groups of cows and miles of pasture.

Always a highlight is the female component with two 3/4 BBF Hancock sisters, plus 4 high quality red heifers.

Bull buyers taking bulls home on sale day will receive a $75.00 discount on each bull

Bull staying at the farm following the sale must be insured.

Bulls will be delivered to central points in Saskatchewan, Manitoba & Alberta as soon as possible following the sale, at the seller’s convenience and the buyer’s risk.

Bulls left at the farm after April 20th will be charged $3.00 per day and must be picked up by the purchaser.

On sale day you can either leave an order with Bohrson Marketing or be on the phone with one of them when the lots you are interested in are selling, or bid live with DLMS.

EPDs - Expected Progeny Differences...

How to use them:

CE - Calving Ease - The likelihood of a sire’s progeny requiring assistance when born. A higher EPD represents a higher likelihood of an unassisted calving.

BW - Birth Weight - Larger values indicate heavier birth weights, lower values indicate lighter birth weights.

WW - Weaning Weight - Higher weaning EPD predicts higher weaning weights.

YW - Yearling Weight - Higher yearling EPD indicates greater

expected yearling weights.

MCE - Maternal Calving Ease - The larger EPD indicates a higher percentage of unassisted births for calves born out of this sire’s daughter.

MWW - Maternal Weaning Weight - A larger EPD indicates greater weaning weights for the calves from daughters of this sire.

MILK - Maternal Milk - Larger numbers indicate more milking ability of a bull’s daughter.

Win a 2024 Sale Credit

Purchase a bull from any current Saskatchewan member, and when the registration papers are transferred, your name is entered to win a $2000 sale credit! The draw will be made at the SSA’s annual general meeting in July and the lucky winner will have one year to use the credit at any public auction or private sale on bulls or females purchased from any current SSA member.

Terms & Conditions...

TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released.

PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

DELIVERY: Delivery shall be at the seller’s convenience. The animals shall be at the risk of the purchaser.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue.

GUARANTEE: Contributors to this sale hereby guarantee that subject to proper treatment, care and exercise, all bulls are warranted to be breeders. In the event of a bull proving to be a non-breeder after receiving proper care and attention, settlement is to be made under the rules and regulations governed by the respective breed association. At no time shall the liability exceed the purchase price of the bull.

When we purchased Springcreek Sue 81E out of Friday Night Lights in 2017 we had no clue the monumental impact she would have on our herd. Upon addition to our herd, she has had 3 bull calves sell through our bull sale grossing $36,250 and giving us one daughter in our herd. When we purchased SVS Triumph 81J a Mader Walk this Way son from Sunny Valley Simmentals we did so with the thought in mind to bring bulls like 900K to the table all day long. He is a bull that is extremely attractive from his herdbull skull all the way through the length of his skeleton down to his solid foot he carries. We really appreciate the amount of capacity and sogginess throughout his ribcage and lower third and you couldn’t ask for a more structurally correct bull when in motion. He is a bull that pulls above average EPD’s in 97% of category requirements. We stand fully behind Triumph 900K to bring you top end replacement females time and time again. Here at Pheasantdale Cattle Company we run 2 calving programs: our winter program starts January 1st to roughly March 15th where we calve out 340 purebred momma cows. Our spring program starts May 15th to roughly July 1st where we calve out 100 purebred momma cows. The one January and handful of February born bulls were not offered for sale last year as we intentionally held them over to be offered this year. Our spring calving cows calve on their own with zero help from us 2 miles north of the yard on pasture, where we check them twice daily, only to tag and weigh what has been born throughout the day. These bulls are grown on a high roughage diet throughout the first winter after weaning and turned back out on grass from May to October before returning to the yard where they are continued on a balanced TMR growing program. Our goal with our 2-year-old and long yearling program is to be able to offer genetics that will work twice as hard for a faster return on your bull investment by allowing that more mature bull to cover more females or multiple calving seasons when you purchase him. The bulls are on a total herd health program, and given that the bulls are older, they have been given their IBR, BVD vaccine along with Ivomec before heading to grass last year.
