Welcome to our 2018 Bull Sale...

On behalf of Cindy, myself and our family, I would like to welcome you to our 2018 Bull Sale offering.

Lets recap a couple things from 2017. First off, a big thank you to all that have supported our program in 2017. We thank all of the buyers and those inquiries that have selected our genetics.

On to 2018 and the bulls.

We are excited to present to you our 2018 line up of rising 2 year old bulls. We have selected what we think is one of the strongest offerings to date. We have a diverse selection of calving ease, growth and performance plus strong maternal traits in each of our Limousin, Black Angus and Red Angus sections. Our herd sires that we have selected are based on a well rounded understanding of the important traits to all cattle men and women. We want a consistent calving ease sire with good growth and strong structural soundness. We have sires that are highly rated in their carcass genetics and also sires that are superior in maternal traits. One thing we have strived to keep in all of our bulls on offer is an extra bit of muscle and thickness. As you go through the catalogue we have tried to highlight the important traits in each of the bulls on offer. If you require more information give us a call.

We have used all our purebred sires in our commercial herd along with many of their sons. We want to know firsthand that these genetics are what we can use and offer you, our customer with confident.

As listed in the back of our book in the new sires, we are continually on the search for new genetics that we feel will complement our sires and dams and continue to keep ourselves with a product that has value, not only in the breeding pastures, but also bred for efficiency and profit in the feeding sector and ultimately the rail.

We are truly impressed with the sire groups from each breed. We are able to offer many 1/2 and 3/4 brothers from our best cow families for added consistency, if you require one or a group of bulls. If you are wanting heifer bulls, performance or maternal bulls there are many selections in each group.

These young sires combine solid well balanced traits in many areas. We have selected these bulls from over 450 cows.

As in our past sales for those who cannot take their purchases home at sale time, we will return the bulls to our farm. We have been able to deliver many of the bulls to their new homes when time and availability permits. For purchases that are going longer distances, we will keep the bulls until the necessary arrangements are made.

If you require more information on any of the bulls, please contact us or any of the sales staff as they will have viewed the bulls at the farm beforehand.

The bulls will be available for viewing at the farm or at SLS two days before sale day.

Thank you, Robbie Welcome to the 2018 edition of the Nordal Limousin and Angus Bull Sale. First of all, I would like to congratulate Rob Garner and his family for receiving three of the most honorable awards a purebred breeder could receive on a show road. The Limousin bull called Canadian Impact was declared Supreme Champion Bull at the 2017 Canadian Western Agribition and as well declared Supreme Champion Bull at Edmonton Farm Fair. Two of the largest cattle shows in Canada. These shows are judged by a panel of highly respected cattlemen selected throughout the country. This outstanding Limousin bull is flawless. In the Red Angus division of Nordal the incredible bull called Red Lazy M C Tradition was declared Canadian National Champion Red Angus Bull. This incredible Red Angus bull definitely has everything you need to raise the right kind of cattle.

The Nordal program has certainly proven to the industry how to successfully operate a purebred and commercial breeding unit. I would like to compare the Nordal program to a well crafted wheel. Every spoke in the wheel is crucial in order for it to roll successfully. The hub of the wheel is the Garner family, you will not work with better people. I would like to identify each spoke in the wheel.

Breeding Quality - Nordal carefully researches pedigree and type and only use the best genetics.

Feeding - Nordal feed cattle at an acceptable pace, promoting longevity.

Marketing - Nordal emphasizes customer satisfaction.

Cattle Knowledge - Nordal definitely knows their product, purebred cattle as well as commercial cattle.

Experience - Nordal has generations of cattle production experience.

Passion - Nordal also has generations of passion for the cattle raising way of life. The Nordal wheel is designed to perfection and each spoke is carefully managed, guaranteeing success.

I am very excited about the two-year-old bulls that are in this year’s bull sale lineup. These Limousin, Red and Black Angus bulls emphasize performance, excellent muscle expression, yet not giving up on calving ease. They are carrying tremendous hair coats and will get out and breed in our Western Canadian environment. Robbie sources only the best genetics when introducing a new herd sire to the Nordal program. You can see the results when you tour the over 450 head purebred cow herd. Rob Garner is a true cattleman, and I believe buying a bull from someone who understands the purebred and commercial cattle industry is crucial. All bulls will have passed a satisfactory semen test prior to sale time and are fully guaranteed.

Delivery We will assist with delivery where ever possible.

The bulls may be returned to the farm until arrangements can be made. We highly recommend insurance be placed on any bulls returning to the farm.

If we deliver, it will be at our timing to co-ordinate. As we also farm a sizeable amount of grain land, please advise us as to when you begin your breeding so we may schedule an appropriate delivery time.

Board Nordal will keep the bulls for you until May 1, 2018 or until required; buyer will then be responsible for pickup.

Co-owned with: Greenwood Limousin, Lloydminster, SK For those of you who may have not been aware, the end of 2017 turned out to be a pretty exciting time. In 2015 we purchased two young bulls that we were very confident had a future in our breeding program. We purchased the Red Angus bull, Red Lazy MC Tradition, as the pick of the bull calf crop of the Lazy MC Angus herd. We also purchased the Limousin bull, Greenwood Canadian Impact, from Greenwood Limousin as the top/record selling bull from the Western Select Sale. We strongly believed these bulls had a bright future. We made the decision to leave these two bulls with the sellers, our partners, to show in 2016 and 2017, so we used these two young sires through A.I services. In 2016 they both gathered attention winning Division Championships and Overall Grand at a few shows. 2017 is the year these two hit their stride. Red Lazy MC Tradition became Grand Champion at Olds Fall Fair, then on to Edmonton where he became National Champion Red Angus bull. Greenwood Canadian Impact started in Lloydminster winning Grand Champion Limousin Bull, then off to Edmonton when things got real exciting. Impact won Grand Champion Limousin Bull. At the Alberta Supreme Show we had these two, Tradition and Impact as participants plus another young sire Boss Lake Dark Horse owned with Boss Lake Cattle. In the final, Tradition and Impact were both recognized in the top 5. Tradition had a final placing of 3rd with Impact taking top spot. Greenwood Canadian Impact won the Alberta Supreme and “we got the Truck�. At Agribition the competition is always at the top of the game. Tradition ended as Reserve Senior Champion in the Red Angus. Impact took top honors again winning Grand Champion Limousin Bull. Dark Horse was Junior Champion Limousin Bull. The Saturday evening final show of the RBC Beef Supreme at Agribition is one of the biggest shows to participate in. We were awfully excited to have two impressive entries, Tradition and Impact. In 2015 after purchasing these two I had hoped they would represent their respective breeds proudly at this event should they qualify. Anticipation grew as the top Ten were announced, Tradition missed the top ten but Impact made it. That is when you think and hope you have a shot at the most coveted award of being the Agribition Supreme. Well that comment I made to Jackie and Scott Payne the day we bought Impact came true. I wanted Impact to be in that spot in 2017. The rest is now history. Canadian Impact won. He became the first Limousin Bull to win a major Supreme Award both at FarmFair and Agribition plus one of only two Bulls to win the Awards back to back. The excitement and honor of winning this award is a humbling experience. There is a lot that goes to getting to this level of recognition and none of this would be possible without a big thank you to our partners in these bulls; Clint and Laurie and crew from Lazy MC and the Paynes from Greenwood; Jackie , Scott, Jaxon and especially Jayden for his partnership with Impact in the ring. We give a big thanks to all of those who have congratulated us on the wins and all the positive comments on the impression that Impact has left with all that have admired him. Tradition is now collecting more semen for worldwide sales before he comes to make his permanent home in our breeding pastures. Impact came to the farm mere hours after his big win and awaits his time taking over the top spot in our Limousin and commercial sire line up. Not to forget Dark Horse and thanking Kyle and Brittany. He has one more year to show his impressive credentials before he takes up a spot walking our pastures.

Diego is a product of one of our most prolific cow families. They maintain excellent calving ease and low birth with solid growth figures. His sire, Westwind, has produced a consistent well-structured set of offspring. His sons have excellent muscle development and great disposition. Terms and Conditions...

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in ttendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder... no by-bidding will be permitted. Disputes - Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

Announcements: All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

Breeder’s Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Limousin and Angus associations. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Health: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Liabilities: All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur.

Rights and Obligations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

Phone, Mail, Wire Bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale managers, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Delivery: We will assist in arranging transportation wherever possible. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Insurance: Will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.

Errors: All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supercede any written material in the catalogue.

Bob Toner , Canadian Angus Fieldman, will be available sale day with a supply of Angus Endorsed tags for purchase.

Blacksmith was the top selling bull in our 2016 sale at $25,500 to Stonyview Farms. He is impressive in his depth, length and correct structure with an outstanding disposition. His sire Westmoreland has continued to impress as his progeny mature. We are confident in Blacksmith’s future as we have bred a large number of our Commercial and Purebred Limousin for 2017. His individual growth numbers and EPD’s along with a sale day scrotal of 41cm and at 2000 lbs. We are impressed with the first group calves born in 2017 from Blacksmith. They are born easy and have added growth. He will be an important part of breeding program to maintain the influence of Westmoreland.

Tradition 111C was our pick from the Lazy MC Angus 2015 “Pick of the bulls” calf crop. He has matured into an impressive sire. His first calves born here and at Lazy MC are impressive and rank at the top of our herds. Tradition made an impression in the show ring from his first outing as a calf in 2015 to capturing the National Red Angus Grand Champion Bull at Farmfair 2017. We are excited to have him as part of our Red Angus program with the strength of his cow family and breeding capabilities.

HA Payweight 6458 was purchased in 2017 from the Hinman Angus Sale in Montana where he was one of the top selling at their record averaging sale. He is sired by the very influential sire, Basin Payweight 1682 and from a leading Hinman donor, HA Erica Lassie 9199 by Mytty In Focus. Payweight 6458 is impressive in his volume, smooth muscle design and phenomenal disposition. We are planning on using him extensively to moderate frame, maintain calving ease without sacrificing growth. An interesting combination is his carcass values and breed leading beef values. He has an impressive list of top ranking numbers in the breed.
