Welcome to the first Annual KSL Simmentals Production Sale! On behalf of everyone here at KSL we are very excited to showcase our first group of registered females to be sold at home in our barn. We must Thank our past sale hosts Lone Stone Farms, for graciously letting us be apart of their sale for the past 7 years. We enjoyed growing our friendship over those years and will miss being apart of that incredible group of consignors. The delicious home cooked meals and laughs we shared while setting up for the sales over the years will be memories we cherish forever!!

With our growing cattle numbers we knew moving the sale home would be inevitable, so we decided to take the plunge and make 2025 the year.

We didn’t expect mother nature to throw a wrench in those plans, and short us on most of our year’s moisture. With receiving less than 3.5” of rain throughout our growing season, this year has challenged our pastures, feed stack, sanity and ability to manage our cow herd like we normally would. But somehow, we have made it to fall and still feel excited about the cattle industry. Although if we receive another call about cattle being out; that might push us over the edge! This drought has truly taught us we are resilient; our cattle can do incredible things on very little forage. We have some amazing people in our lives that allowed us to graze their properties, hay fields, sloughs and maybe even pastures they were hoping to graze but our cows may have beat them to it! We truly feel very lucky to have an amazing community that helps and supports each other on a year that could have been much worse. It’s been an emotional roller coaster to say the least and I know no one understands it more than our fellow cattleman across the country. We truly are a special breed, because even after a tough summer we still get excited as we charge into the next season, and the next tasks at hand!

WELCOME

extra age females are big girls as they have had the time to grow and develop over the summer and be bred around the 22 months of age. The sale heifers were also exposed and bred to bulls that we walk right here at KSL. 3 of the bulls (Ferrous, Jesse James, and Lamborghini) being proven calving ease sires we have used time and time again in the heifer pen with great success. As well as an exciting new young herd sire KKH Venture 866M we purchased this spring from our good friends The Hodges at Tri K Cattle. We take great pride in walking these bulls and feel they offer great value as service sires to these females. The heifers were covered for a nice and short breeding window of March 18 to May 10 and were preg checked June 27th to confirm how many days bred they were.

The pen of sale heifers is a great genetic variation from red, black and fullbloods. There is a mix of calving ease and performance, horned and polled. There truly is a heifer to fit anyone’s style while staying consistent in type within sire group and purpose. We feel these heifers can be bred many ways to produce offspring that offer genetic advantages to any herd and go out and contribute to the registered cattle world but as well as the Canadian beef industry.

WELCOME FROM Bohrson Marketing Welcome to this exciting first annual event! The KSL Simmentals operation is one that is synonymous with quality and power in numbers. Their large papered cowherd is simply impressive and made up of two different groups, one calving in the winter and one the spring, bringing you some females with the extra age advantage. Keegan, Brad and family are some of the real good people in the industry we get to work with a call great friends and we are excited to welcome you to this must attend event.

The catalogue is lead off with “the program”. Fullblood bred heifers with something truly for everyone. Not only is KSL famous for owning some of the very best herd bulls in the industry but they have certainly raised some proven and popular ones as well which are all represented in this section. Horned, polled, full fleck, extra age, they have it all and are truly a set that must be seen in person. The black breds are smaller in quantity but are absolutely the right kind for today’s industry. Females with extra body and shape with ideal udders starting to drop on them. Although not known for their black cattle, they have certainly made many strides forward in this division and we feel the 7 on offer speak volumes to that. The red breds again feature many industry leading AI sires and powerful walking bulls represented.

These females are as consistent in type and kind as you will find with awesome colour and look to them. Many blaze face options await you in the red breds and we feel you can dive in deep in this section.

We hope you can join us November 22nd at the ranch near Beaverlodge for a big time set of Simmental bred heifers. In true Keegan and Brad fashion, the live entertainment and hospitality will follow the sale and supper and it is shaping up to be a shindig you won’t want to miss. The terms of the sale are cash, cheque, and wire transfers, payable at par at the sale location unless satisfactory payment arrangements have been made prior to the sale with seller, buyer and Bohrson Marketing Services. Bohrson Marketing Services reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Payment in full must be made before cattle can be released and shipped. Exchange rates will be announced sale day and the sale will be held in Canadian funds.

She has a little more chrome and perfect dinner plate pigment around each eye making her quite the looker. Brett Keet tried to buy Maiden China as a heifer calf right out of the pasture but we held out ground and made sure she joined the keeper pen and boy are we glad she did. She loves to be right in your pocket and seeks attention. She is soft sided and well balanced from front to back. Her dam has been a very successful flush cow usually producing over 20 oocytes per flush with ease. The foot quality from both top and bottom side of her pedigree is exceptional and we see her future being just as bright as her dams. The Jesse James calf she carries could very well be worth the investment and make the ROI on Duchess worth the look come sale day. One of the toughest females for us to sell come sale day no doubt.
