Indian River Cattle Co. Billy, Juanita, Owen & Katie Elmhirst 1870 Settlers Line, Indian River, ON Res: 705.295.2708 Billy’s Cell: 705.761-0896 Juanita’s Cell: 705.772.2697 Owen’s Cell: 705-772-7717 Katie’s Cell: 705-761-9444 Email: ircc@nexicom.net www.indianrivercattlecompany.com
Our goal each year as we prepare for Quality Control is to present an offering that is so unique, so high quality, so consistent, so competitive and so enticing that every progressive, genuinely interested Simmental Breeder can’t help but want to participate (or at least have a hard time putting the catalogue down) . And I think after assembling this offering that includes some of the premier breeding establishments from parts near and far, we have accomplished our goal. Collectively the consignors in the sale are all about ‘Quality’. They pay attention to detail and the offering reflects that from cover to cover as the opportunities to add an elite Simmental breeding piece on October 6 are plentiful. At IRCC we’ve had the pedal to the metal this summer. Owen has officially taken over everything mechanical (thank god) and from the disgusting winter and spring we had … to a suddenly freakish dry summer, he’s been busy chasing skinny windrows to make enough feed. Juanita has put way too many miles on that little red truck, gone through a pile of SD cards and I’m certain is ready to give her camera a rest. Katie and I, well we’ve been everywhere: Hereford Jr Nats in Denver, Double Feature in Lindsay, we raced to the Bluegrass State for Jr Nats and Sweepstakes, back home to win Supreme Female at Peterborough, then to Quebec for The National Classic, plus a bunch of dog fights around home. It’s been hectic, but boy we’ve tested the waters and after all that, can confidently say we feel awfully good about the direction our program is going. What’s even more rewarding than the success we’ve had, is how customers have fared with their purchases. Darlin sure lived up to her hype last fall, winning Toronto for Erixons and Maders and continued onto Regina to be Reserve Female there and then a Supreme top ten qualifier. The Maple Stone gang also enjoyed that ride, owning her calf, and Carolyn was tickled when I called her from Regina. The Fallis family gathered their first Royal banner a month after QCII, showing the Champion % Female at the Royal. That same heifer gathered Cole some hefty Jr Incentive money in Quebec, while Clayton Cameron has done the same with Fandago and the pair of them at ‘press time’ seem unstoppable. The coolest part from last year’s sale might be lots 3A & 3B. Stole out of the back end of the sale by good friends and partners, the depth of quality and producing ability is evidenced in those feature lots. We sincerely hope you can make it to Indian River for Quality Control III. We’d like to thank our consignors, many who have travelled across Canada, and of course the Janssen family from Iowa, for bringing the cream of their crop to make this event so exciting. We are excited to have the entire Bohrson team here sale day so feel free to contact them, our consignors or any of us here at IRCC to assist with your plans to participate in Quality Control III.

Fantasia is the real deal! Her show record proves it and when you see her in the flesh it’ll become even clearer. She was Heifer Calf Champion at the Royal Winter Fair in her only outing of 2018. Started out 2019 as Grand Champion Female at the Trillium Classic and was Reserve Division at the National Classic. Physically, she is as stout made and as heavily constructed as we’ve built one, but still maintains that IRCC front end. She is an ET out of the best uddered cow on the place and she too is setting up an exquisite table underneath. Just a whole lotta good available here so we will be retaining the right to flush and would like a minimum 5 embryos. Bred AI on March 26th to GEFF County O. Preg checked safe. No exposure.

In all the years we’ve been breeding cattle, (so our whole lives) we have never been around a bovine that created the hype and excitement that IRCC Darlin did last fall. Not only was she the record breaking $45000 sale topper to Mader Ranches and Erixon Simmentals but she then was slapped Royal Winter Fair Champion and Reserve at Agribition. Plus she was a popular Top Ten Qualifier in the Agribition Supreme. As close to perfect as you can get, here is your chance to replicate her with full sub embryos. Page 7

EPDs CE 7.9 BW 2.8 WW 72 YW 104 TM 55 API 121 TI 70 Didn’t take long for this one to have a halter thrown on her. She’s had “it” going on since birth with her boxy balanced build, blaze face and elegant look. I can’t wait for everyone to meet these Load Cell heifer calves. They are standouts. I knew from the time Pays to Believe entered the ring in Louisville 6 years ago I needed to use him, so when Mrs. Wheatland told me she had a homo/homo son out of Schaake’s best cow family, it was just the ticket and Load Cell hasn’t disappointed. Glass Slipper has been a dominating force this summer as Calf Champion at Peterborough, Reserve Calf at the OYCS Classic, Reserve Female in Kinmount and Best Beef Calf on the grounds up at Coe Hill. This one is getting better daily and is exceptional on the ground for one that has the top and hip shape she does. Refresh your gene pool and your program with this beautiful baldy. Owned with NJM.

Long spined with extra reach and refinement in her front third, she transitions into a big cage and ends square. She will make a deadly yearling next summer with her ability to grow hair, her superb showring manners and presence. Her dam has matured into a really nice cow with a high quality udder. This one and her sister made a formidable duo being named top progeny of dam at the 2019 Trillium Classic. This one is difficult to part with, but we are new to the Simmental scene and we believe that if you want to make a big splash, you better throw a big stone. Stout, sound and sexy, this is a big as it gets. Bred April 8 to WLE Uno Mas X549 sexed heifer. No exposure. Vet confirmed with a heifer pregnancy. Gloria is a calf that has turned heads right from birth, a favourite of so many during the pasture tours. This calf checks off all the boxes, she is extremely long, and has wowed us with her performance combined with her depth of rib. She has exceptional eye appeal, not only in her conformation, but her overall appearance with the typical black baldie style. Her sire, Crookshank is our senior herdsire and a full brother to the 2010 Royal Winter Fair Champion Simmental Bull Keystone Surveillance. Crookshank has been walking in our herd for 6 years and has been a game changer in our program. The Crookshank progeny are consistent, correct and his daughters are extremely functional. Crookshank has been producing high selling bulls and females for years and has numerous progeny working in herds across the Maritimes. The Crookshank females are known for their tidy udders and abundance of milk. Gloria’s dam has been consistently producing front pasture females, as this will be the third full sister from this mating that will sell in the last 3 years. She is a heavy milking granddaughter of ER Red Deck with tons of rib. Gloria will be part of our show string this fall, and we look forward to what the future has in store for her. Truly a great JF Milestone female here. Her dam is a female that was purchased from Blue Chip Cattle Co. out of the NAILE sale as the high selling open heifer. Carly Janssen showed her very successfully. The mating to our herd sire JF Back In Black 750E should create an outstanding result. 8005 bred 5-25 to JF Back In Black 750E
