It’s sure been a challenging, eventful, not knowing what’s coming next kind of year, but man are we thankful to be involved in the agriculture industry. Although sometimes difficult to point out, the agriculture industry saw some definite highs throughout the past few months and many positive points to look back on. Record high grain markets, an extremely steady fall calf market, and several shows and sales did their best to push through and have in-person events; and some of the best sales our breed has ever seen. With that being said, we wouldn’t trade this life and passion for anything in the world. For the past eight years, we have sold our bulls in Lloydminster alongside the Tyler family of Red Willow Ranch. We have enjoyed our time working with them, as the bulls were second to none and the people even better! We want to wish them continued success and all the best in their first annual bull sale at the farm on March 7th. 2021 brought us several “firsts”, and some pretty important ones to boot. We hosted our first sale ever at the farm this past October. It was a huge success, and we thank everyone that helped make our first female sale successful. We are extremely excited to host our First Annual Bull and Female Sale at the Farm this coming March. We truly believe that the set of bulls we bring to you in 2022, is the best and most consistent group we have ever had. On our fullblood side, the acquisition of bulls like SBV Reputation, NAC Battle Cry, and SVS Cargo allow us to bring a set that offers more potential breeding merit than ever before. For the first time ever, we will be offering more polled then horned bulls, by strong request from our customers. In saying that, we feel our polled bulls replicate the same kind of performance and muscling that our horned cattle do.

On our purebred side, an aggressive AI and ET program allow us to bring a group of bulls that has no question outperformed any group we have had before. We also have in this group a pretty unique black baldy bull, that was shown successfully this past fall and did more winning than any other bull calf of any breed. With our deepest set yet, we will be collecting a couple of the bulls before the sale for use in our own program. We currently aren’t sure which bulls they will be, but feel free to reach out to us or visit with us before the sale, as we will make sure everyone knows if a bull had been drawn prior to the sale. We have been working extensively with Ryley and Bullseye Feeds, to develop and grow our bulls slowly with longevity in mind. The bulls are fed a TMR ration since weaning time and are fed on an 80-acre grass piece until December. Our bulls are pictured in the first part of January, and really grow and mature a lot in the two months leading up to the sale. We encourage anyone to come and tour the bulls prior to the sale, there is always someone around to show you through the bulls and their dams. This diverse, deep quality offering will showcase one of the strongest Fleckvieh and Purebred operations in all the land and as you study the catalog you will see only the best make it through a strict culling process to be offered to you, the valued customer. You can rest assured that when you choose to buy a bull or female from BGS, the guess work is completely taken out for you and every animal offered is backed by a sound, highly productive cowherd with a heavy emphasis on foot and udder quality and the ability to convert feed and maintain body condition year round. The Noble family is full of some of the sharpest and most critical stockman within the industry and when it comes to sourcing herd bulls, donor quality females and genetics no expense is spared as they believe in annually sourcing the best product to help elevate their already potent program. The Fleck offering is as impressive throughout as anywhere you will find and is highlighted by the rookie calf crops of the $165,000 Reputation bull as well as the homo polled Cargo sire. Back by popular demand you will also find half a dozen Battle Cry sons that were so popular last year and when you see the sisters to the sale bulls by Battle Cry in production, you will surely feel the need to own one. The legendary Stuey sire group is still represented through the catalog and will be the last group of naturally bred sons on offer. These are females that are supposed to be retained to keep strengthening the cow herd, but due to the high cow numbers around the ranch, your opportunity awaits in the 15 opens available. make the trip to see him for ourselves. It didn’t take us long to see the quality in that polled herd sire and we knew he better come back to Lloydminster. We purchased Reputation with Canadian Sires and are beyond impressed with progeny of both sexes and the consistent colour, hair, and overall performance. On top of that, 10/14 Reputation sons come polled, and we feel that they’re as good of a polled sire group that we have ever had. One of the greatest features we felt Reputation had, was the dam and cow family behind him. We heard lots about the kind of elite female 54C was, but after we saw 61X at the age of ten, we knew we wanted a son or grandson off that female. Well eventually we got both as you’ll see in our next sire group, but we are very impressed with consistent quality of this group, and welcome anyone to reach out or stop in and see them for yourself.

A moderate framed bull that’s overwhelming in terms of overall body dimension, muscle shape, length of body, but still very structurally correct with a large scrotal. A smooth polled bull with a great haircoat and goes back to one of our best cow families, we consider 128J a definite feature. His maternal brother was a feature in our 2019 sale selling to Brad Bogen. But it doesn’t seem to matter whether we are selling females in the fall or bulls in the spring, often our high sellers and top end go back to the great Whisper 930W who was a full sibling to Crossroads Radium. FULL FLECKVIEH, NON-DILUTOR. Here is a bull that we have watched closely for quite some time, mostly due to his dam being quite possibly the best looking fullblood cow that we own. We often say that if she were to give us a heifer calf, we would be halter breaking her to take out as a pair in the fall. She’s an extremely dark red, big bodied, sound structured female with a foot and udder structure that we wish we could put on every cow that we own of any colour. 51J is a big framed, long bodied, good moving bull that alongside his dam was Champion Mature Pair at the Turtleford Fair this past summer. 54Fs feature son sold last year as one of our high selling Battle Cry bulls to DAM Noel Belsheim at Marwayne.

DAM HOMO POLLED, NON-DILUTOR, FULL FLECKVIEH. When we stepped out and purchased Reputation with our friends at Canadian Sires, we had no idea the impact he would have in such a short time. Here we are with our first calf crop and our expectations have been beyond surpassed, and 63J is a big reason why. Dark red, good haired, and good tempered describes this powerhouse. He’s big and bold all the way through with a wide pin set and expressive top shape. 711E is a past Friday Night Lights feature who has turned into a front pasture female. A powerful cow that’s huge bodied, near perfect footed, good uddered, and has a temperament that is suitable for all ages. The kind of female that we would want to mother our own herd sires, her feature son last year sold to Larry Ruud and Phil Staden. We feel 63J is a bull we would be looking at utilizing ourselves even if he was horned; the fact that he carries both the homozygous polled and non-dilutor gene makes us believe he has as much genetic potential and mating versatility as any bull we have ever raised.

A blood red ET Reputation son that offers ACT a bitYWof extra # DAM power, and bone, 3J is easily picked GRANDDAM Dgrowth, out by visitors and was a member of our pen of three that we took to Edam Fall Fair. 81Z was phenotypically ideal for us as a dark red, heavy pigmented cow with perfect feet and an awesome udder. She was a Hemr Warrior daughter, who was a son of the great Kananaskis female that is now one of the most common cow families in the fleckvieh breed. 81Z raised one of our high selling bulls a few years ago selling to Anchor D Ranch, along with sons also working for Kent Thompson and the Bear Canyon Colony. We feel in this years offering we have a handful of bulls that we would classify as our top end, and 3J is definitely one of them.

FULL FLECKVIEH. A more moderate framed bull here that is extremely easy doing, big ribbed, and deep bodied. His tanky like body shape allows him to constantly be in the top half of our bull pen for performance. 22F is a nice young female with a tidy udder, whose full sister has been one of our best producing females raising our 2019 high selling female to Labatte & Oberle. That female has since entered our donor program. 22F goes back to the oldest producing female we have ever own. At 13 years of age, 12P still calved in January with a FULL SIB TO DAM near perfect foot and udder structure.

For starters, he combines some good calving ease traits, being in the top 20% for BW, with some impressive actual performance. He weaned off at 900 lbs, and is a growth driven, deep ribbed bull with a ton of dimension and muscle from behind. 33D has been a great producer for us; she gave us really nice twin heifers in 2020 and one was our second high selling female in our sale last fall going to Elliot Lindgren. We were lucky enough to calve out both females this winter and their udders are perfect. She calved this year in early January with a really nice full sibling heifer to 62J. Here is a bull that we think combines a lot of good, with the maternal feet and udder qualities behind him.

We GRANDDAM DCargo had heard a bit about this bull before he sold and how he was from the same cow family as Reputation, and afterwards they asked if we had any interest in buying into him. After a trip to Hanley to see Cargo and his dam, we had him loaded on the trailer and headed home. This bull injects more shear muscle, growth, dimension, hair, and performance then any homo polled bull we have ever used or possibly even seen. His dam, 61X, was a huge volume, awesome footed, good uddered female at ten years old. She is also the granddam of our Reputation herd sire. We are very happy with these first sons to sell off Cargo, and can’t wait to get some daughters into production, with the hopes they have the same cow power and longevity of 61X.

Battle Cry was initially purchased as a fool proof calving ease bull for our heifer pen, but it didn’t take us long to realize that he was a lot more than your typical “heifer bull”. We were beyond impressed as we watched his progeny grow and mature early, into some of our biggest and best calves at both weaning and yearling. His first eleven sons highlighted our bull sale last spring, averaging over $17 000. We are very impressed with the group of sons he left us for this year’s sale, and those bulls’ ability to perform and standout in a pen full of “cow bulls”. His daughters calving here in 2022 are very ideal in terms of their udder design with small correct teats. He’s a smooth polled, dark red, large scrotal bull with a big hip and expressive rib shape. We could write a book on his cow family, as he goes back to our old 18U donor that did so much good for us. A maternal brother to 112G was one of our high selling bulls last year to Steve Harty and Denise Boggust, who consistently purchase some of the highest quality bulls they can find. 120J ranks in the top 10% for CE but comes with some actual performance on top of that. A rugged, stout muscled, early maturing bull with a flexible structure, 114J and his two-year-old dam were named that Champion Two-Year-Old Pair at the Turtleford Fair this past summer. 102G was admired for her bold rib shape, good udder, and strong foot. It wasn’t a shock to any of us when we watched 123J develop into one of our best herd sire prospects, as his 3-quarter brother did the same thing last year. 123J is a growth driven, big pinned, wide topped bull with an attractive herd bull presence. One thing we found unique about him is he carries the Homo Polled gene, even with two horned grandsires on both sides of his pedigree. He combines two of the best walking bulls we ever owned, Starwest Bryck and Southseven Adonis 96Z. The mating potential in 123J we feel is at the top of our whole offering, weaning off just shy of 1000 lbs and gaining almost 4 lbs per day. 73E raised our second high selling fullblood bull last year to Phil Staden and Larry Ruud, and we were lucky enough to get back a piece of him to use ourselves. We currently have two dark red, polled calves off that bull as I write this. 73E herself is a powerful female who is a full sister to our high selling bred female, selling two years ago to Labatte and Oberle. This bull is a prime reason why his sire, 73F, was used in our AI and ET program and sees more use each year.

DAM HOMO POLLED. The youngest bull in the sale but he really can perform with the best of them. An early maturing, rugged, heavy muscled bull with a splash of white on his face. He is the best son we have ever sold off 942W, who we purchased as the high selling female from the legendary Blacksand Dispersal. She was a huge bodied, easy doing, big footed, great uddered female. Her days were short lived her and wish we had a bigger embryo bank built up on her. 247J ranks in the top 10% for WW and 5% for YW and backs it up with actual performance and growth.

Our good friend Mike Thompson bought a full brother to this guy a few years ago, and that bull looked better and better each summer we saw him. A younger bull here, but we think his best DAM days are yet to come.

A definite sale feature is this powerful, dark red, Battle Cry daughter. 65G was purchased by our friend Ryder Curry in our last group of heifers to sell at the Border City Simmental Sale, and we were lucky enough to keep her here. 8G is a big bodied, stout hipped, big footed female with a great temperament. Her dams dark red colour, pigmented teats, and correct foot made her a favorite when she sold. She goes back to the 1C female that has raised 215J in this sale. The Hexagon x Stuey combination is what produced our highest selling bull yet, Black Gold Elevation.
