B Bar Cattle Co 6th Annual Bull & Female Sale :: SALE RESULTS 2022

2022 has brought exciting new additions not only to our herd but to our family as well. On June 7th, we joyfully welcomed Liam Timothy to make our family of four! And the following month we were thrilled to have our niece, Kamryn Terrie, join the Boon family on July 23rd.

The offering we have assembled does not just happen. The decisions made years before get us to this point. We try to take a balanced approach when it comes to breeding our females and developing seedstock cattle. We are excited about the unique and diverse offering we have assembled.

Our herd sire prospects are an exciting group with a lot of genetic options available. The strength of the cow families and herd is evident when you see that the average age of the dams on the 31 bulls is only 4 years of age, with 13 of them being off 2 year olds! The 20 purebred bulls are sired by past highlights of this sale, such as B Bar Warhawk 11G (Bar 3R Limousin), B-Bar Serratelli 72H (Glendenning’s J Bar J and Misty Morning Limousin) and B-Bar Stetson 35H (Anchor B Limousin and Canadian Sires). This year we bring you a larger offering of LimFlex bulls. The 8 black bulls are sired by Baldridge Mercenary D002, Belvin Hedge Fund 0096 and B-Bar Stetson 35H. The 3 red bulls are sired by Red Six Mile Timberlake 180T.

Our plan with the female offering going forward is to offer a select group of proven cows along with some bred heifers. The bred heifers will consist of the partnership females, while the cows will mainly be 100% owned by B-Bar. Our goal here is to take as much of the guess work out of your next female purchase as possible. The group this year consists of one donor female, proven cows that are consistent, two year olds that are just getting started, and breds that are exciting.

Once again the semen offering is unique and well rounded, bringing together proven bulls with young up and comers. As always we offer these in sensible sized packages and keep the overall amount low to give you some exclusiveness.

If a bull is not insured and sustains an injury or dies before delivery the buyer is still responsible for paying for the bull in full.

Wintering & Bull Development

We insist to winter the bulls for you, the buyer, at no additional cost. This will allow us to properly develop them on a balanced ration as we prepare to semen test them and for longevity in mind to benefit you, the customer

Extra Age Bull! A stout, rugged, soggy made bull that is the cowmen’s kind! He brings with him a balanced set of EPD’s which are backed up by his actual numbers. His Bubba Watson dam extends from our prominent Foxtrot cow family. She is a powerful, robust, sound made female with good milk flow.

Extra Age Bulls! A pair of flushmates that are stout, rugged, masculine beef bulls with structural integrity. An EPD profile that ranks them above average for 15 of the 16 traits. Their pedigree is built deeply with B-Bar bred genetics on the top and bottom side combining many of our impressive donors. Their donor dam was a highlight female in our 2019 sale to Dale and Barb O’Dwyer. Their dam is bold ribbed, level topped, and long built with a well balanced and structured udder.

This is a first. We always get every animal pictured for the sale catalog. But this bugger walked up to the 2 strand electric fence and decided to crawl through, after that he kept doing it. Stout made, with loads of muscle and rib shape would allow this bull to work well on a British based cowherd. Ricochet 203J’s dam has been a strong producer for us putting sons to cattlemen such as, Yandell Limousin Ranch, TX and Kirk Ringrose, SK.

Recommended for heifers. A calving ease candidate with his front end structure, 80lbs bw,

I would argue Rainmaker 4K to be at the top end of bulls we have ever produced. From day 1 he has had that herd bull presence and has looked the part at every stage of his life so far. He is so well balanced, carries his muscle shape throughout, and yet he still holds himself so well with the amount of length and depth of body he possesses. It is no surprise that he extends from the Nicole cow family, with non other than the 114U donor being his grandam. His dam, Nicole 5D ET, is a long bodied, level topped, powerful female that milks heavy from a well constructed udder. Rainmaker’s dam has certainly proven herself and will hit the donor pen shortly. Nicole can control progeny birth weight and has a weaning ratio of 106 on 5 calves. There is not a doubt in my mind he will be part of our future breeding plans when you combine his phenotype, cow family strength and awesome actual and projected numbers.

B-Bar Kerosene 27K ET is the cowman’s kind with his length of body, muscling, ease of movement and herd bull look. He completes the package with an easy going nature and strong scrotal development. His donor dam is also off the 114U donor that is so well known for producing herdbulls. Nicole 9E is so ideal in her kind with attractiveness, volume and tremendous udder quality. Maternal brother B-Bar Ferrini 39H is working at Lazy H Limousin, SK. *Dam sells as Lot 37

B-Bar / Hawkeye Sundown 8K ET is a true herd sire candidate that has easily been found in the bull pen. His herd bull presence is combined with muscle, stout stature, tremendous foot, overall mass and capacity. He is an embryo calf off none other then the powerful donor, Foxtrot 21B, that Hawkeye Land & Cattle bought from us. She simply works with any bull and her influence is felt in numerous herds. She has put sons in the most progressive programs of, Triple D Enterprises, ON, Jamie Visser, ON, Conners Bros, AB, Andrew Ranches, AB, Andrew Ranching, AB, Pinnacle View Limousin, BC, Roslin Enterprises, ON. Pay attention here as Sundown 8K offers a lot of possibilities!

Recommended for Heifers. This Stetson 35H son is a bit different in his type and kind from his paternal brothers, but equally just as good. Anthem 65K is long and level made, he balances out nicely with muscle and softness and moves with lots of ease. Numerically he has a very strong EPD profile ranking in the top 30% for 13 of 16 traits. His 2 year old dam did a great job on her first calf and weaned him off to ratio 103. Anthem’s dam is angular, deep bodied, sound structured with a hard to fault udder. This cherry red, homo polled, big nutted herd sire prospect has a lot to offer with a deep pedigree, strong numbers and balanced phenotype.

The rancher’s kind of bull by the way his length of body, bold muscle shape, easy going nature and sound movement all come together. This Stetson 35H son has a low birth weight, with lots of grow and stretch to him, along with maternal qualities in his pedigree. His dam is a long bodied, sound structured cow with a picture perfect udder. Maternal brother at Clark & Sandra Ehnisz, SK.

A moderate framed Stetson son with tons of muscle shape, docility and good scrotal development. His dam is a flushmate to the dam of Lot 11. Again, here we have another dam who is long built, functional made with tremendous udder quality.

A powerful beef bull, full of meat and muscle that would work awesome on a group of British based females. He combines calving ease with growth, maternal abilities and carcass quality. His dam was purchased out of the Western Select Sale in 2020 from the progressive Andrew Ranches program. 100K’s dam has a long spine, she is bold sprung, sound made and dropped an absolutely picture perfect udder.

Moderate frame, tons of muscle and rib shape with a tremendous hair coat is used to describe this cherry red bull. He would sire a great set of feeder steers and produce some great replacement females. His dam is angular, big ribbed, sound structured with a flawless udder. This dam comes from our impressive flush of 7 heifers off Zodiac 29Z x Foxtrot 21B

An easy fleshing, loose hided, soggy made bull that does not give up any muscle capacity. He weaned off his 3 year old dam to ratio 106 in a group of 25. His dam is a moderate framed, easy doing, strong milking cow. 71K’s dam is a direct daughter off our impressive 118W cow that produced the $30,000 Slate 17C and $32,000 Bentley 32D. Nicole 102F is following in her mothers’ footsteps becoming a strong producer, as she produced the $20,000 Empire 4J bull to Bar 3R Limousin, SK last year.

Barracuda 54K has the length and stretch to him that adds pounds to calves, without sacrificing substance and muscling. He is sound and free on the move and is easy to work with. He carries an impressive set of EPD’s along with a weaning ratio of 106. His dam is an attractive functional female that has proven to work hard, putting sons at Wulf Cattle, MI and Flaterud’s, SK. *Dam Sells as Lot 38

Shininstar 204J has developed into a powerful individual with loads of capacity, rib and muscling. This docile bull, is strong footed and sound on the move. It is extremely rewarding to see a 2 year old cow do such a nice job on her first calf. Starburst 56H was a $7,250 selection of Dale & Barb O’Dwyer’s in last year’s sale. She dropped a beautiful udder with great teat attachment, milked hard, stayed in shape in a drought and bred back on the first AI to calve in January.

Caruso 42K catches your attention with his dark red color, length of body and strong top. This bull is easy going that moves with ease on a sound foot. Kathy Hunt purchased his dam for $10,000 in last year’s sale and this female has developed into a gorgeous cow. She worked hard and caught to her first AI to calve in mid-January. Shania 62H is angular, deep bodied and dropped a tremendous high quality udder; we can not wait to see how she continues to produce.

Recommended for Heifers. B-Bar Blackout 202J offers an outstanding genetic and visual package to be a major herdsire prospect. He is proud and masculine fronted, has great length, tremendous thickness, strong top, a large scrotal and moves with ease. His numbers are impressive with a low birth weight, short gestation and impressive growth. On September 2nd he weaned of his 2 year old dam for an actual weight of 924 lbs. His dam is a big barrelled, elegant, sound made, heavy milking female that is a 5th generation Nicole cow family. I wish I could have got more of the dams of these bulls pictured this year, but with a new addition to our family in June, timing just did not allow.

Recommended for Heifers. An exciting calving ease herdsire prospect, with his great front end and bone structure, low birthweight, short gestation, and EPD’s that rank him in the top 1% for CE and BW. Black Ice 26K is moderate in his frame, carries tremendous depth of body, and stands on a strong foot. The Baldridge Mercenary D002 progeny impressed us with their overall calving ease, their get up and go and their ability to grow on these 2 year old females. The dam, Urban Girl 205G, is a moderate framed, deep bodied cow with a high quality, well structured udder.

B Bar Nicole 9E is a personal favourite of mine within our entire herd. She is attractive, big bodied, square design, with a phenomenal udder quality. She is a natural daughter off our prominent 114U donor who is in the pedigree of many of the most notable bulls to sell through our program. She injects docility and foot quality into her progeny, along with scrotal into her sons. The mating to the $24,000 New Life Henry is sure to provide the new owner a quick ROI.

In our search for some bull power this spring, New Life Henry came to the top of our list for many reasons. We find him very well rounded on all fronts; a balanced phenotype, productive cow family, proven pedigree, and tremendous EPD spread that is backed up by actual data. When you see him in the flesh, Henry has you appreciating where this breed strives to go with his docile attitude, muscle and overall balance that extends to fluid movement. He commanded $24,000 in the Fully Loaded Bull Sale and has garnered a lot of attention since then. Henry saw heavy use in both our programs and has bred very well for us. He has excellent libido and has collected tremendously in stud. This is the very first semen to be offered.

B-Bar Carhartt 71H was the highly popular lot from our 2021 sale when he commanded $20,000 to Bar 3R Limousin, SK and Red Oak Farms, AUS. He has the stoutness, capacity, muscle and fleshing ability to grab your attention. He stands on a good foot and moves with ease and flexibility. He ranks in the top 2% for CED and BW while having an actual 80 lbs bw and 282 gestation. Then he indexed 104 at weaning and 102 at yearling in large contemporaries along with a 113 index for REA. The Bar 3R program used him very successfully in the heifer pen with little to no issues. Carhartt 71H brings together a strong phenotype with a balanced set of actual and projected number. A proven heifer bull that will not sacrifice performance!
