THE SKEELS FAMILY

DAN & KAREN - MACKENZIE & COREY - GARREN & TRINITY Box 1638 Rimbey, AB T0C 2J0 anchordsimmentals@gmail.com

Welcome to our 18th annual Pasture Treasures Female Sale. It’s truly hard to believe we have been hosting this sale for this many years, as it really feels as though we are just getting started. There is so much enthusiasm in the air. Our kids are thriving and taking a larger role every day, and it’s so exciting to see them flourish and want to be a part of this industry. The cattle market is on such a high, and all sectors are seeing benefits, especially for the cow calf producers. More construction and expansion is underway here at the ranch, poised to put us in a better position to better service our livestock and our customer base for the future. Yes exciting times indeed.

We were actually talking about this a couple of days ago, when a few years back I wrote in our bull sale catalogue about calves being over $2000 per head. It’s not that many years ago. I remember having one guy tell me I was dreaming it would never happen. Well the market has far exceeded that this year. To date we have already seen lots of $35-$3600 steer calves with a few select groups over $4000. As producers we are in a very good position for some time. Even with talk of beef herd expansion, it’s a slow process. With low cow numbers and high demand, heifer retention will still be somewhat limited. It will happen but it will take time. Also with the USA wanting to expand their dairy industry, there will be a large number of beef on dairy calves that will be taken out of the food chain, therefore potentially decreasing even more numbers at the packers. This leads me to my next point. Beef production efficiency. Watch what these big, high performance steers calves bring this fall. It’s tough to physically quote a price as they rise every day; however cattle that can go on feed on the shortest turnaround time are where the most profitability will be found. We are in the business of growing grass, converting it into beef production. Low maintenance early maturing cattle are our focus.

This year’s offering is a slight bit smaller, as we felt the bar should be raised. The heifers offered will all be bred heifers, from both ourselves and the guest consignors, and a few exciting genetic lots will complete the offering. In our own program we relied a bit more on walking bulls this year, but still ran a % through the AI pen. The Fleckvieh bulls are tried and proven, and the walking bulls we used are bulls that are not on the semen market, so you will be buying some exclusivity. The purebred service sires are new, with very proven sires. We are very excited about these new bulls and the impact they will have. All heifers were ultra-sounded at 28-60 days of pregnancy, with observed dates on the majority of them. They will be retested prior to the sale to ensure they are settled. They will have received their safe guard, 8 way and first round of scour vaccinations prior to the sale, and have been on the Express health program since birth.

We hope you can attend this great weekend event starting off at Black Gold on Thursday and wrapping up at Beechinor Land & Livestock on Saturday, allowing you to hit three events all on the same weekend. Anyone wishing to view the cattle prior to the sale is welcome to do so; we would be honored to tour you through our herd. Our sale is a live event so anyone unable to attend please keep in mind there is no internet bidding. We ask you contact either ourselves or the Bohrson Marketing team or the rest of our sales staff to discuss your needs.

FROM BOHRSON

One of the very best ways to kick off an action packed fall run of female sales is the highly anticipated Anchor D Ranch “Pasture Treasures” Female Sale. The Skeels family annually dig in deep and offer one of the largest selections of Simmental Cattle in the country. Their deep roots on both sides of the Beef Industry is always so apparent as you visit with them and view their sale cattle. We are very excited to welcome you on behalf of the Skeels family and all of us at Bohrson Marketing Services to their 18th annual event.

There truly is no better time to be in the Cow/Calf business. We are finally at the forefront of the chain and our product is worth as much now as it ever has been. The biggest favour you can do yourself is to invest in quality cattle and genetics that you like to like at that can work for you. These days you can’t afford to not have a big strong cowherd that annually produces a marketable calf. If you’re reading this and flipping through the Anchor D Sale Catalogue, you have come to the right place. This year’s offering is as deep in quality and selection as ever before. The 44 Bred Fullblood females are truly exciting. Many new pedigrees along with proven ones are represented with many polled and full fleck options. These females are sisters to the high powered bulls that sell each spring and are a great representation of the Skeels operations. The Purebred heifers in both red and black colours are the right kind and are geared perfectly for whatever your plans are with them. The frozen section of this years sale has as much future and promise built in as ever before with many first time offerings of semen, embryos and one special flush! Again this year we are excited to have a strong offering from the guest consignors of Stout Brothers and Gary Waldron, who always bring a set of true features to stand right up with the front end of the sale.

Be sure to make plans to be with us Friday, October 10th for an evening of hospitality and big time Simmental genetics. The Skeels family love to host and entertain and you’ll be doing business with some of the very best folks in the industry. The meal is second to none and the cattle are absolutely first class couples with some good ol’ fashioned Simmental commraderie, it is the perfect recipe for one of the absolute must attend events of the fall. Be sure to give any of the Skeels family a call prior to the sale to visit about the cattle and set up a time to view the offering. If any of us listed from BMS can be of any service, please do not hesitate to give us a shout. We look forward to seeing you near Rimbey!

Best Regards,

The Bohrson Marketing Team

e are very pleased to offer the Anchor D Influenced calf sales again this year. We are dedicated to our customer base, and are always looking for ways to add value to your program. These sales have been hosted the first week of October for the past 15 years originally starting with Ponoka, AB & Dawson Creek, BC and have expanded to Rimbey, AB & Westlock, AB the past several years. These sales allow feedlots the opportunity to purchase large groups of genetically similar calves on very similar health programs to maximize efficiency. These sales have also become a showcase for producers wanting to source top end females to add back into their own programs. These sales have added value to both sellers and buyers, and are open to both Simmental and Charolais genetics. Anyone wishing to consign cattle or require more information please contact Dan for more details.

HANK YOU

to everyone who helps out behind the scenes. It’s always an army of people that not only make this event happen, as well as all the little details the other 364 days a year. One of those exceptionally special people is Kathy Matejka. Kathy has worked on our ads and catalogue for well over 25 years, always finding the time to fit us in her busy schedule. Her vision and creative design has been a huge part of our program. Beyond that we are truly blessed to have her and her family in our lives as friends and wish her all the best. Thank you will never be enough

F

LECKVIEH

Our journey began with Fleckvieh cattle over 40 years ago. Through that time we have met some great people in the industry. There have been so many of those people along the way that have helped us shape and mentor our program to what it has become today.

My how things have changed in that time. Our very first bull we sold was in the spring of 1986, where he sold for a whopping $1575 and was the second high selling bull at the Pacesetter Bull Sale in Wetaskiwin. Fast track to this spring where we sold 150 bulls for over an $11,000 average. It’s been an incredible journey with lots of changes, but one thing that has stayed the same is we are still striving to raise cattle that excel in the commercial world. Fleckvieh Cattle weren’t always popular, but we stayed the course, and have dedicated ourselves to develop cow families that have stood the test of time. Buy with confidence as the heifers you see today are 40+ years in the making.

This is something truly special. “Ziley” has been a cow that has been a solid mainstay for us, and has entered full time status now in our donor pen. We have a very good embryo inventory built up on her our biggest issue is having the recips to put them all in. To date she has averaged just under a $25,000 average on her calves with offspring working Oakview Simmentals, MB; Ferme Gagnon, PQ; Canadian Sires, AB; Starwest Farms, AB; Ashby Fleckvieh, ON; Diamond B Simmentals, AB; Stone Simmentals, AB; Croft Creek Ranch, BC; XRC Simmentals, SK as well as numerous others in commercial herds, so to say she has had an influence in the breed is an understatement. “Double Dare” is a bull we are very happy to have acquired a limited semen package on. This is a bull that will offer us outcrossed genetics and shows so much muscle mass and dimension in a Homozygous polled package. These embryos very well could result in the next big thing in Fleckvieh Genetics. We will have a few calves born this spring from this highly anticipated mating.

This is a female we dug out of the keeper pen. I really wanted to retain her for ourselves, as we don’t have an abundance of “Raptor” daughters in our herd however the ones we have we love. “McKinley” is a full sister to a former high seller in this sale a few years back selling to Javier Jauregui in Mexico, and was also our cover girl of the catalogue for several years. Her dam is a direct daughter of “Pasta” from one of our donor cows “Patty”. This female is royally bred and will be top notched. She is mated back to “Gannon” so this calf will very much be a true outcross to most. Keep in mind this will also be his last calf crop so just an added bonus as well in that. As I said we dug “McKinley” out of the keeper pen, as good of endorsement as we can give her.

This is an exceptional pair of females. The day this pair of twins were born we knew they were special, and have always stood out. There dam was a female sold through our sale a few years ago to Canadian Donors and was a former high seller. She could easily be a poster girl for the Simmental Breed, as she is as near perfect as you can make them, and backed by an impeccable pedigree. These heifers possess thickness, length, and structural integrity, while still showing style and eye appeal. This is a pair of females I would dearly have loved to kept for our own program; they will be a pair of females you could build a program around. Both bred to “Intrepid” their calves will also be quite special.

“Marcella” comes from one of our very best cow families. Probably one of our biggest regrets is that our old “Image 21J” cow never entered the donor pen, as she is responsible for one of our biggest and most productive cow families in our program, and that was all achieved through 3 natural daughters. The “Bowman” daughters we now have in production we are super pleased with as they are strong footed, easy fleshing with great dispositions and are very maternal. “Marcella” doesn’t come with any extra flash; she is just plain goods and will be highly productive. For dollars invested this will be one you will want high on your list.

“Melani” was never really a heifer that we had intended on selling; however she has all the credentials to be a great sale heifer. She is a very eye appealing female with extra length of spine, backed by a super strong pedigree, and cow family, and then as an added bonus mated to “Top Gun”. We are very excited to have incorporated this bull into our AI program this year. His sire “Radioactive” did a tremendous job for us and was lost far too soon. I know when speaking with Ben he is really happy with the calves he is producing, and I think this combination will be really good. I like this heifer a lot, but the coupon she is carrying just may very well pay for the whole package.

“Mazie & Madisyn” are another pair of heifers we own with Canadian Donors. With the three cows we have with them we maxed production with them producing 5 calves and they all made the cut. This is a very honest pair of heifers. Their sire “Yellowstone” has really developed into a powerhouse. He is bull we retained for our own use via a flush we purchased from Buzzard Hollow in Texas. I am a huge fan of his dam, a direct “Siegfried” daughter. This bull supplies us with a very proven pedigree that certainly has a degree of outcross to it. Now combine that with the mating to “Gannon” and we have doubled down on more out crossed genetics, and on a side note this will be that last “Gannon” calves so a very unique opportunity here.

“Meilani” is a very long bodied high powered heifer. Her dam is a cow that always provides us with big growth and has extra punch in her pedigree. As I mentioned before we are really pleased with the job “Bowman” has done. His calves have super dispositions, are easy fleshing, and the daughters we have in production are very good cows, with excellent udders. This is also another heifer we bred back to “Top Gun”. I think this cross will be really quite good. As you can see in this year’s offering we relied more on the walking bulls to get the job done and only a few were AI’d. This is a cross I have huge expectations for.

A couple years ago I said we may get a bit stingier on selling “French Attack” daughters, and only offered a couple. Well we decided to part with a handful again this year. This is a bull that has done absolutely everything we could possibly ask for. He’s still with us at 10 years of age, but father time is starting to catch up to him. Having said that I will go on record to say he is the best bull we have ever owned. If you haven’t had one of his daughters this might be the year to take advantage. “Milena” is a dark red beauty, and boasts an impressive pedigree with “Raptor & Kael” right there on the papers. This heifer has as much marketing potential as any. Bred back to “Gannon” will make for an extremely marketable calf as well.

“Marie” is a female we just grow to appreciate more and more every day. Her dam is a relatively young cow that I have huge expectations for. Her sire “Precision” wrapped up his breeding career here last year, and then pulled double duty going to work for Diamond Rio Ranch when he was done in our program. He did go to town this summer at the ripe old age of 10, and the bottom side of “Marie’s” pedigree is also loaded with longevity, so I think it’s pretty safe to say she will be a female that should be around in your herd for a very long time. This is a female I encourage you to really analyze. The more you look at her the more you like her. She will be a great cow.

“Mara” comes from the great “Cher 100S” cow family. As you can see she did breed early and then re-cycled later on. I know we always get a handful of people asking for heifers that are bred a bit later, as I appreciate not everyone is set up to calve in January. Normally we would probably have kept this heifer for ourselves but for that reason we decided to sell a couple of the later bred heifers this year to just offer a bit more diversity. The “Precision” daughters make really nice cows, and as mentioned she is backed by a great cow family. This will be a very honest female that should work in everyone’s budget.

“Mavis” could perhaps be the longest bodied heifer in this year’s sale. “Venom” is a bull who was a bit overshadowed by his brother “Viper” the year they sold. Both bulls went on to do great things, and both bulls were dammed by incredible cows and cow families. We have utilized “Venom” in our program through the years, and have always been happy with the results. He is a bull that you can use on both cows and heifers, moderates birth but adds growth. “Mavis” will be an extremely productive female. She goes back to the “Sonita” cow family who was perhaps one of my favorite cows of all time. Consistency, longevity, and productivity all wrapped up in this package.

Good golly, look what we have here. In my personal opinion this is maybe the diamond in the pen. A direct daughter of “French Attack” from an exceptional young “Fort Knox” cow who just happens to be back to the “Tyra” cow family. “Myra” is quite simply royally bred. Genetically this heifer is elite and she simply slides into the we can’t keep them all category. There will be other heifers that out shine her sale day, but she might be hard to get past year after year in the production end. This is the first year for the “Intrepid” calves and we are very impressed to this point. He calved very well, and the calves have a look about them that is special. “Myra” is a total package you will want to check out for sure.

“Mona” is a heifer we have liked all along. Her dam is a beautiful young cow that really tends to show more traits from her grandsire “Windsurfer”. She is a cow that I have very high expectations for. “Mona” is a heifer with a very different pedigree to most, and the breeding to “Gannon” only enhances that. This is a very honest female that checks a lot of boxes. For those of you not wanting to calve in January she is bred back a little later as well. She’s as solid as they come.

A beautiful “Bowman” daughter that is heavily pigmented, and has really been coming on strong. “Maliyah” is extremely smooth built and has extra length of spine. Her dam is a dark red “French Attack” daughter with an absolutely flawless udder, and she always tends to put a calf in the sale pen. One of the easiest markets we have each spring is for heifer bulls. I think if this female gives you a bull calf from “Gannon” he will be a bull that could top a lot of shopping lists. The calf should be dark red, heavily pigmented, long bodied and has a potential to be polled to boot with a somewhat exclusive pedigree, as Gannon was never on the market and this will be his final calf crop. Lots of things are right about this lot.

“Marleigh” is a heifer I struggled with putting in the sale. We were down a few numbers and she was still in the yard when we did the final preg test, and I admit she was sorted off to go out to the keeper pasture and I looked how many sale heifers we had and felt she needed to be added back in. This is a beautiful Polled “Radioactive” daughter. The females we have from him can be summed up in one word, Sweet! Easy keeping, strong uddered, low maintenance and tremendous dispositions. The dam of this heifer is without question one of my favorite young cows. She goes back to our great old “Herlinde” cow family, and for generations every one of the cows in her pedigree has been a herd bull producer. “Marleigh” has unlimited potential, and I think she will be a cow that will hit home runs time and time again. Put a big star by her this is one of my top picks.

The dam of “Madalyn” is a young cow who hit the ground running. Her first calf was none other than “Hefner” who ended up being our high selling bull that year going to Dobbie Simmentals in Ontario. Her follow up was a heifer that sold to Champ Simmentals, and produced their high selling bulls this spring. Her third calf was a high selling bull for us going to Sagwich Land & Cattle in Oregon, and now we have “Madalyn”. To say there is a track record would be an understatement, as there is a ton of potential in this great female. We only AI’d a small handful to “Radioactive” this year, and she is one of the select few. I can’t endorse her more than that.

When opportunity presents itself, be prepared. That’s the case with “Mia”. She is the lone Homozygous Polled Fleckvieh female we have in this year’s calf crop so we decided she should be in the sale. This s a very stylish female that you honestly couldn’t paint any better with a brush. She comes from a tremendous cow family who has produced many herd bulls, the likes of “Shazam, Kings Ransom, Camouflage, Fake ID” all of which went into purebred herds as well as numerous others that went into commercial programs. “Sheamus” also stems back to this cow family through his sire, so to say this cow family has left an impact is an understatement as they are as proven as they come. “Mia’s” dam “Tomena” has produced 100% heifers until this year. We were excited to see a full brother to her, unfortunately at the time of cataloguing he has suffered a severe injury and will no longer make a bull, however prior to this he certainly looked as though he would have been one of next year’s feature bulls. This is an outstanding opportunity to invest in proven genetics in a homozygous package. The future for this female is beyond bright.

“Melissa” is the first calf from a beautiful young female we purchased as a calf in this sale from Tanner Madge. When we seen her as a calf we really liked her and were that much more drawn to her due to the cow family she comes from. This has been a tremendous producing cow family for Wild West, Virginia Ranch as well as Madge Simmentals, so we were excited at the opportunity to incorporate this lineage into our own program. The “Radioactive” females are tough not to like. Super dispositions, perfect feet and udders, moderate and easy keeping. They are females that work with a huge cross section of sires due to their versatility, moderation of birth weight and in the case of “Melissa” also being polled. A super female in the making.

“Malaysia” is one of the females I gravitate to more and more every day. She comes from a very productive no miss cow family. We had the misfortune of her dam aborting this fall so this female will leave just that much bigger void in our program due to the loss of her dam. You have to appreciate the overall style and femininity of this female yet still loaded with power. This is another female I really think will be a pleasure to pick out bulls to work with her. I think she offers as much diversity as any female we offer, and as consistent of cow family backing her as we have. Whether it is raising front pasture females or big powerful herd bulls I think her future will see it all when she is in full swing of production.

“Melany” is our lone “Elevation” daughter, and what a great female she is. Super dark red, easy fleshing, eye appealing, and a very different blend of pedigree for us. As many of you know I stress cow families time and time again. The “Image 21J” cow family has been as solid of producers as we have ever owned. Hard to believe it’s been 27 years since we purchased her from the Richmond Farms dispersal, and this is still one of the strongest cow families that just continues to re surface time and time again. There is a reason we trace pedigrees as there is power in the blood. “Melany” is a living testament to that. Also note how we’ve bred her back, just another added bonus.

Every pen has a sleeper, and “McKenna” very well could be the one. This is not a heifer that just blows you away based on power, however when you analyze pedigree alone you appreciate this is a female designed with a bit more finesse, moderation and calving ease. Her dam is a very typical “Barbossa” daughter, fault free and a bit more refined. I have stated more than once that “Barbossa” himself didn’t sire a bunch of high selling bulls; however his true value was discovered in his daughters as more often than not they did produce the high selling bulls. This is a female that will be super easy to breed to a huge cross section of bulls and will deliver the goods. She will be as honest as the day is long and do nothing but make money. She will be a female that will stand the test of time and be with you for a long long time. Mated to “Gannon” she very well could be carrying that next super star calving ease bull or a very valuable breeding piece in a heifer calf. Regardless there is lots of value here.

If I was to use one word to describe this heifer it would be Cool! “Milia” is a beautiful feminine female tracing back to the great “Herlinde” cow family. We liked this cross so much we mated her dam back the same way, and she spanked out an absolute ripper of a bull calf this year. I see this as another female that will be extremely easy to put together a list of bulls to work with her. She will be a female that moderates birth weight but doesn’t sacrifice performance. She will put a little extra style and eye appeal on them and add a dash of chrome, and it sure doesn’t hurt that she comes in a polled package. This heifer truly is really Cool!

I struggled a bit when we put “Mira” in this year’s sale as this is the last calf from her dam. This cow did a great job for us and she is the dam of a former high seller in “Hesper” the dam of Lot #3 & #4. This is a female I think you will appreciate today, admire tomorrow and love her the next day. She is going to age like a fine wine. We are really starting to admire these “Yellowstone” females, and we are just starting to appreciate their value. This spring was our first set of calves from “Intrepid”. We were super impressed by how well he calved, as well as the growth they have exhibited. These calves are really developing nicely in type, as well as they are very attractive, and the color has been an added bonus. “Mira” will be a wicked good female that will only continue to get better and better.

A stacked pedigree here in “Magnolia”. The dam of this female is a ½ sister to “Mia” (Lot #19) and also sired by “Creed” essentially making her a ¾ sister. As you seen in her footnotes this cow family is no stranger to the front end of the pen producing several herd bulls and high selling females over the years. Her dam is one of the easiest females to find in the herd as she is as sexy as a cow can be. “French Attack” has hands down been the best bull we have ever owned and his daughters are as picture perfect as they come. “Magnolia” being a granddaughter possesses those same great traits and just loaded up a little more with the addition of “Creed”. Circle her lot number she is one you will want to find sale day.

We all have those cows that out do themselves, and honestly “Zeon” is a cow who certainly deserved to be added into the donor pen but never ended up there. Out of her 11 calves every calf made the replacement pen with the exception of one who was culled due to injury. “Edwinna” a former high seller in our production sale went straight into the donor pen at Ferme Gagnon and her first calf went to work as a herd bull for Mark Land & Cattle. Another daughter “Dakota” is most known as the dam of “Gibraltar” who was also a former high seller going to DJ Farms, as well as a full sister “Esperanza” who was our unconditional pick of the heifer calves for Garren’s graduation gift. Another daughter “Galata” may arguably be the best of the lot and is really starting to develop into a future power house in our herd. “Morgan” may not be the first female you pick out sale day; however my free advice is to not miss her as I think she will hit her fair share of home runs in her career.

As I referred to in the last footnotes that “Dorothy Jane” is the cow that built the calving barn, well “French Attack” is the bull that is making the additions. This bull is without question the animal that has had the largest impact on our program. He does so many things right. His sons are highly sought after, and his females are as good of cows as we own. The dam of “Madison” has been an outstanding producer for us. Every one of her calves has made the sale pen until last year when we felt we should retain a daughter for ourselves as she is starting to get a little age to her and don’t want to lose this line. This female has easily become one of our favorite females in her age group, raising a smashing bull calf this year as a first calver, and she just happens to be a full sister to “Madison”. I guess that says a lot about the consistency and the contribution this cow family has made to our program. “Marigold” is a deep bodied very angular female, but still is so feminine and attractive. This is a heifer that truly excites me as I can only imagine how she will look as a 4-5 year old cow with a big powerful bull calf at side or that jaw dropping heifer calf. Very versatile in her mating options, and the look to deliver the goods every time, and the cow family to back up that claim.

I had originally intended on retaining “Mila” for our own program, but had the sneaking suspicion she would test Homozygous Polled so I really felt she would be a strong sale candidate so we added her in. She didn’t test Homo Polled but she is still Homo good. This is a female with huge potential. We really like the thickness and power “Sheamus” adds into his offspring either male or female, and as an added bonus he gives you no end of pigmentation. The dam of “Mila” is a very nice female we purchased from Keet’s Simmentals and she has not disappointed us. Bred to “Intrepid” will we result in a dark red heavily pigmented calf with huge marketing potential, and I’m very certain she will be a strong producer of the Polled gene as well.

“Jessip” is the youngest heifer in this year’s offering, coming from a beautiful young “French Attack” daughter tracing back to the “Herlinde” cow family. The “Fort Knox” daughters we have are super productive and really do a great job for us. A shot of “Barbossa” on the bottom side of this pedigree and the more you analyze the genetic package the more you appreciate the unlimited potential she presents. “Jessip” is a very solid deep bodied broody female that I see as been strong and steady. I think she will produce outstanding females but I really see her strong suit as being a bull maker. I think if raising bulls is your business then she has all the attributes to be high on your wish list.

Last year was our first set of “Sarge” daughters to sell, and they were very well received. They possess extra length of spine and huge muscle shape. “Luna” certainly exhibits both of these traits as well as laying down a beautiful udder. Her dam is a very nice female that Mackenzie purchased from Kindred Spirit, and she produced her high seller a few years ago selling to Beechinor Bros & Haney Bros. This is a true powerhouse female, and bred back to “Gannon” will result in a calf being a ¾ sibling to the above mentioned former high seller. “Luna” will be a very easy heifer to find on sale day as she is as picture perfect as they come. Lots of power and shape in a Polled package, one that will leave a large void in Mackenzie’s herd.

This very well could be my pick of Mackenzie’s heifers. Yes this is a solid red Fleckvieh female, so a unique opportunity there all on its own. The dam of “Lainey” was purchased from SkyWest as a bred heifer, and has produced a few solid reds for her now, and honestly if it wasn’t for the fact Mackenzie has a full sister to her in her own herd she would have retained her. These “Bowman” daughters are special. Very milky, great structure, gentile nature and very easy keeping. “Lainey” will be a solid producer and with her color pattern it certainly has potential to open a few more options for her new owner. Lots of positives in this whole package, a female I would suggest you take a very serious look at, as she has all the goods.

This isn’t the biggest cow family, but what a productive cow family they have been. The dam of “Meghan” has one of the top bull calves in the pen this year. This cow family has always been known to be strong bull producers, and this female should do the same. “Meghan” is a dark red female who has extra depth and capacity. The breeding to “Gannon” should result in a stellar cross, added length and style from him, and added thickness and power from her, with the potential of being polled with a somewhat different pedigree as well. “Meghan” is a female that will be a great addition to any herd and be very complimentary to any program. We still have several descendants of this cow family in production including the great great grandmother to this heifer “Reba” who is raising another smashing good calf this year at age 13. This will be an outstanding producer that will have lots of longevity, lots of performance and comes in a polled package. The cross with “Intrepid” should be very very good.

She’s also the dam of ADR Bellacruise 321M, crowned National Champion Fullblood Heifer at the 2024 YCSA World Congress Show, and most recently Mirabella 21M, featured as Lot #40 in this year’s sale. Beyond her impressive production record, Shenzi is a long-bodied, deep-barreled, beautifully designed female with excellent structure, a flawless udder, and ideal feet. She’s proven to be an absolutely no-miss cow, and with her current breeding, this offering presents a rare opportunity to acquire the right to flush her to the sire of your choice.

39B We couldn’t be more excited to offer this elite genetic pairing. During flushing this year, Shenzi, a proven donor and one of the most influential females in the Anchor D program was successfully crossed with the dark cherry red powerhouse, $355,000 BLL Rumble and had great success on embryos. This pairing combines the consistent production and flawless phenotype of Shenzi with the sheer power and style of Rumble, offering a high-performance, visually striking package. Since the moment Top Gun hit the ground he has exceeded every expectation we had for him. He is 100% Fleckvieh, homozygous polled, and a non dilutor that is proven safe for heifers. Top Gun is not just a heifer bull, his calves have excelled in both the bull pen, as well as producing top quality females that have topped sales in the U.S. Additional he has become highly sought after in Canada as well, proving his genetic impact will stand the test of time. Not only is Top Gun a powerful easy keeper, but he is an extremely sound and fluid moving animal. You can’t go wrong investing in a bull like him!

Although our Purebred division is much younger that our Fleckvieh division, it is still developed with the same core values. In 2003 we expanded our Purebred base with the addition of a small group of cows as well as taking a few of our established Fleckvieh cow families and mated them back to Purebred bulls. Several of our original cow families will have a strong Fleckvieh base. In recent years we have added some key females from dispersals, or production sales, focusing on proven cow families. We felt as though the core base was there and it was time to find “The Bull”, and that’s when “El Dorado” entered the scene. We feel as though this bull and a strong AI program has elevated this division and we are excited about the future.

She is backed by an outstanding cow family that is very consistent and we just know will give us something good. We are super impressed with the job “El Dorado” has done for us. His calves are super stout and are very easy to identify from the moment they hit the ground. This will be the very first set of his daughters calving this year and all indications are they will be awesome. Bred back to “Eight Ball” I think the options will be endless.

The dam of “Mariposa” comes from a tremendous cow family we purchased from LaBatte Simmentals. Both her dam and grand dam have outstanding “El Dorado” sons in the pen this year that will easily surface to the top of the sire group. This is a female that will add thickness, muscle shape and hair. She is a dark red female herself and then being bred back to our new Red bull “Red Rock” the resulting calf should be as dark red as you can possibly imagine and will also be Homozygous Polled. We are super excited to see his first calves as he is a bull we added into our program with the vision of him being the next step on the “El Dorado” daughters. I have very high expectations on this cross.

We felt as though “Maren” was our top bred Red heifer sired by “El Dorado” so she was ear marked all spring to be in the sale. No fault of hers but we missed seeing her cycle, and we didn’t want to take the chance on AI’ing her late so we exposed her once we shut the AI pen down, and she did settle on her observed breeding. This is a very nice representative of this great sire group. The “El Dorado’s” are super easy keeping with tons of capacity, big tops, hair and foot structure. The females are developing very nice udder structure and I can only imagine how this female will look with a big bull calf at side. She is a herd bull producer in my opinion. She is backed by a great cow family, and will be an outstanding brood cow. “Maren” is a female that is tough to part with and will leave a huge void in our own program.

When we assembled our initial set of Black cows, the pivotal piece of that puzzle was a cow called “Painted Smile” aka “Moe”. This is the cow we built that end of our program around, and we have a large cow family based around her. “Mallory” is a great great granddaughter of “Moe” and every one of the cows in this line leading up to her has been a tremendous producer. Somehow she did manage to come out Red, as this is a very strong Black producing cow family, but regardless of color the constant in this package is quality. Her dam is as picture perfect as you can imagine, and the “El Dorado’s” need no introduction. This will be one hell of a female, and mated back to “Eight Ball” should result in an outstanding baldie baby. This is a total package.

We have used “Sleep Easy” as a bomb proof calving ease sire. We are now starting to see a few of his daughters in production and they are very nice females. “Miriam” offers a triple shot of calving ease, coming from a “Red Heat” daughter, who traces back to a “Barbossa” dam another generation away. This is a different blend of pedigree, and we all know that heifer’s bulls are typically in hot demand. This is a female that will raise both outstanding females and tremendous bulls. With the addition of “Excalibur” further back in this pedigree there is also added growth, and this cow family has been super productive for us. I think this will be an extremely honest producing female.

Every year for the bull sale we get requests to make a true ½ Fleck x Purebred. Well the dam of “Myla” is the very result of that cross, and incidentally she has a full brother to “Myla” this year that is among the best of the class. This is a female that will be loaded with power, and although she is solid red, mated back to “Eight Ball” I’m quite certain you will end up with a baldie calf possessing the money stripe. Zero doubt in my mind this is a female that will supply huge growth and be a pounds producer. She will make a significant contribution to your bank account for years to come.

“Macie” is a larger framed female that will be a powerhouse. Her dam has been a solid producer for us coming from a cow we purchased from Daryl & Debbie Snider. “Whiskey” has done a phenomenal job for us, and his numbers were a bit smaller in this particular calf crop simply due to the addition of “El Dorado”. Do not let that fool you, as this bull is the real deal, and has raised some of our best. In fact in this springs bull sale although he only had one son, he was the second high seller in the Purebred division and was certainly a pen favorite of many. We will see more numbers from him again this next year, as he is a mainstay in our program. At the end of the day the back story on “Macie” is she is bred to do great things and is stacked both top and bottom.

Our Black numbers in our own herd were a bit low so we decided we would only offer one Black for sale this year, so the logical choice was to pick the best one. “Mylah” has a pretty neat pedigree. Her sire certainly needs no introduction, and she comes from a really nice “Ballistics” daughter. Her dam is one of my favorite Black cows, who happens to be a direct daughter of “Black Joker” and then a unique twist of Fleckvieh influence through “Klyber”. This is a female that I believe will be a front end producer and will raise some herd bulls in her time. She has a full brother this year that looks equally as impressive. Then bred to “Eight Ball” I would certainly think a Black Baldie baby from this female will be like a license to print money. She is no doubt from the heart of our herd.

“Malibu” is a sneaky individual. She was in the AI pen, and we never seen her in heat, so when we exposed the entire AI pen she went right in with “Red Rock”. Well we never observed her there either but she did settle in calf for a mid-February baby, obviously on her first service. This is a really cool, big deep bodied, broody female that should make an exceptional cow. Her dam is a beautiful “Westcott” daughter from a female Mackenzie actually won via a ticket from the Friends of the Canadian Simmental Foundation, donated by Lewis Farms. Her family traces back to the great “Charo” cow family so this heifer is royally bred to say the least. Bred back to our new “Mountain View” son “Red Rock” simply is icing on the cake.

Susie Marie is a moderate framed, blood red, solid footed, hairy polled heifer that we are very high on. She comes from our most prevalent and top cow family the Susie’s. The last time we sold a Susie through the Pasture Treasures she went on and raised the $155 000 BLL Atomic for Beechinor Land and Livestock to Blackgold Simmentals and Lindgren. The service to our polled walking bull Radon really ups the ante on this sweet heifer. Radon x Epic matings have been knocking it out of the park. The resulting calf will be a ¾ sibling to our high selling calving ease bull at this springs bull sale to Starwest Farms. We don’t let many of these Susie females leave the farm, here is an opportunity to dig into a good one. She will get it done!
