Welcome to our 18th Annual Bull and Female Sale. The excitement is building as we head into another bull sale season. It truly is our favourite time of year. We look forward to the connection made with our customers and meeting new people at our farm, our sale and on the road.
The Crossroad kids continue to dive deep into their passion of life here on the farm. Helping whenever and wherever, while still getting out and experiencing other operations and some added fun. Shelby decided to hit the junior show road last year. Jaici also did one show and Olivia was able to join Shelby at a couple shows. This created renewed love for showing and some new friendships. They are all investing and expanding their own herds. They also attended Edam Fall Fair for a second consecutive year and came out with Reserve Champion Pen of European Bulls. To end off the year, a strong offering of females was put together for the Border City sale, which was a huge success.
Olivia continues her 3rd year of post secondary at OPSU in Oklahoma on scholarship in softball and livestock judging doing her Animal Science degree. Shelby began her first year of obtaining her agronomy degree at the U of S. Jaici is in grade 11 and Cooper is in grade 9 and begging to quit school so he can farm everyday fulltime. Times are changing rapidly and thankfully these kids help us keep up.
Once again we have to thank our employees. We are very grateful for their long hours and pride in the jobs they do. Kirk and Claude are an integral part of the daily success of our operation. We know how lucky we are to have both of you work side by side with us. And to Ian Wasden for doing night calving allowing us to get those daily jobs done well and keep our sanity.
The anticipation for this year’s sale has been building ever since this set of bulls hit the ground. From big-time flush siblings to an abundance of new sire groups. Our females in production are at the peak of the Simmental breeds standard. There is no absence of power, structural correctness, and dependable fertility. The bulls relay these notable attributes loudly. As you make your way through all three pens, you’re met with consistent quality through and through. A set of easy fleshing, genetically proven, fluid moving bulls that are going to excel at their given task. With a large sire group on offer, there is a wide array of options for every program out there. It is our goal as a family to keep our program values strong, this set of bulls is an exemplary model of that.
We invite you to come view the bulls and the great females backing them any time before the sale. Take your time in the pens looking over our offering. We will be available to answer any questions you may have and the coffee will be on. Videos will be available in early February.
If you are unable to attend the sale give us a call or you can contact the capable staff at Bohrson Marketing to bid on your behalf. DLMS will also be available for online bidding.
As always, we invite you to come early and enjoy a home cooked meal and some Crossroad hospitality.

We have twelve red and three black Sysco sons for you to choose from this year. They all offer natural thickness and tremendous eye appeal. Both Lots 1 & 2 are transplant brothers from our Gracie donor cow and were members of the Reserve champion pen at the very competitive Edam Fall Fair all breeds show this past fall. Sanchez is an excellent example of what Sysco is capable of siring. He is super stylish with his dark red thick hair coat and as you can see in this November picture he has more than ample muscling in his rear quarter and even more impressive width when you assess him from behind. He exhibits excellent length of spine, good feet and legs along with a ton of maternal traits you can count on. Here is a very complete bull that would move your program forward into the future. ~ Homo Polled ~

Here is one of our big boys, and another member of the trio that went to Edam this past fall. He is a tremendous Sysco son with explosive growth and has been a standout since birth. Pictured here under eleven months of age, you can certainly appreciate his thickness, deep quarter, overall balance and big testicles too. And look at his length of body, just calculate how much more your calves will weigh with an extra foot of length! Good performance and full of proven maternal strengths too. His dam has been an awesome producer with tremendous fertility and is due again in early January. We have six full siblings to Lots 1
2 in the replacement heifer pen that we are also very impressed with. You will drive a lot of miles to find a bull with this much potential. ~ Hetero Polled ~

Sniper is the third member of the Edam Reserve Champion pen of bulls and you will see why when you see him on sale day. My summer notes on him say; “super good dark red bull, deep, long, wide, lots of testicle.” He has big time performance from both sides of his pedigree as it shows in his WW and YW EPD’s. His dam is a larger framed cow that raised a fancy heifer purchased by Downhill Simmentals from Minnedosa, Mb. Her last year’s bull was selected by Sean Peterson from Debden. If you are looking to add power and performance to your next calf crop, here is one that would be a real solid choice for your next herd bull. ~ Homo Polled ~
The Spartacus X Sysco combination is undoubtedly one of the most impressive groups we have on offer this year. Two sires that have made their mark in our herd with the mass and power they pump into their progeny. 88L is one that grabs your attention out in the pen with that blood-red colour alone. The sheer mass of this individual, along with his desirable depth and his square structure screams herd sire candidate. His dam Crossroad Emylin 125E has been a dependable producer, with an exceptional ability to feed her calves to their full potential each year. 88L continues to impress us as he matures, seemingly finding room to improve on top of his already exemplary stature. ~ Homo

Born a twin, here is a real flashy fellow that will catch your eye with his dark red hair coat and white face. He steps out with ease on his solid structure, has impressive muscling and excellent testicle development. His powerful dam is one of Gerald’s favourites from birth. She is a beautifully uddered Kill Switch daughter out of our Ursula donor cow which pretty much guarantees she will produce a good one every time. Looking at this combined pedigree I would keep every replacement possible. Here is a bull that makes a statement with his many qualities and will add a ton of value to your next calf crop. ~
Another super thick, wide topped, big butt Sysco son that comes with dark red hair and a stylish blazed face. He will be a tremendous bull by sale day. Mothered by another transplant Spartacus /Code Red dam that certainly gets credit for injecting the natural thickness this bull exhibits. Here is a bull that will sire an impressive set of calves and the ones that are born with their sires celebrity chrome will just add to their value. Showcase is a real solid choice for your next herd sire.
Good performance from this solid coloured Sysco son that is structured well and solid on all fours. He has extremely strong production record from both sides of his pedigree and his dam is bred back for another Sysco calf in mid-January. Her last year’s good bull was purchased by Moore Ranch from Loon Lake, Sk. Here is a bull with a stacked pedigree and a real solid package to buy into. ~ Hetero Polled ~

Nacho has been a standout since birth. The kids decided last minute to take a cow/calf pair to the Turtleford summer show and snagged this pair from the pasture the day before and they won first place! Nacho is solid in his colour, his thickness, structure and disposition. He moves out well and has that real herd bull presence to him. His American Red dam is pegged to enter our flush program in the upcoming years. She comes from a super strong cow family with her dam and grandam raising many top end bulls for our customers over the years. Her first calf sold at last year’s sale in the heifer division to Regan Schlacter from Humbolt for $10,000. We are hoping her next calf is a heifer, it won’t be leaving the farm. A package that couldn’t be more complete, don’t miss your opportunity! ~ Homo Polled ~

Another excellent Next Century son here with their signature dark red colour and great body type. This guy was also pictured in November and is going to have substantial mass by sale day. He is a very good bull, excellent length of body, good muscle expression in the rear quarter, big scrotal size when we measured in early December. He has all
the makings of a top end herd bull and is homo polled by pedigree too. His powerful Westcott dam has always calved in January and will be one of the first this year too. She raised two sons purchased by KJ Larre Ranching from St.Walburg and Devin Bouffard from Kincaid, Sk. We have one daughter working in the herd and be sure to check out her first contribution to the bull sale; the fancy Lot 29 Flash son. Here is a mid-February born bull that continues to grow and thicken and look better every week. He is a moderate framed incredibly good, solid red American Red son. These sons have been very popular at past sales and unfortunately due to an injury this is the only one we have for you this year. We have some amazing American Red females with such good udders. His dam also has a calving ease pedigree hence his low birth weight and 14.6 calving ease EPD. Pictured here at only 9 ½ months of age, he will be impressive by his one year birthday at sale time. Adequate growth and large testicles when we measured in early December, homo polled by pedigree too, here is a young bull with lots to offer. ~ Homo Polled ~
Night Hawk is a calving ease sire that was bred to 139L’s powerhouse dam we purchased at last year’s Camrose Country Classic sale from Tri-K Cattle at Beaverlodge, Ab. This big bodied broody female certainly did a good job raising her first calf and is bred back for mid-January again. We think 139L will be the first of many excellent calves this female will raise. He has adequate growth, huge testicle size and a good disposition. He is sound in his structure and is maturing into a herd bull that will add quality to the calves he sires. THIS IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OCCURRENCE, FOR US AND THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY. A WHOPPING 19/20 FLUSH-MATES BORN DURING OUR 2023 CALVING SEASON. THIS FLUSH WAS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED CONSIDERING THE TWO OUTCROSS PEDIGREES INVOLVED. THE DAM OF THIS FLUSH TSZ KEEPSAKE 703A WAS ON OUR RADAR FOR YEARS AFTER PURCHASING HER GRAND FORTUNE SON, TSZ MADOC 305F BACK IN 2019. A BULL THAT LEFT HIS STAPLE IN OUR BLACK PROGRAM BY IMPLEMENTING TRAITS THAT ARE CHASED IN TODAY’S SIMMENTAL BREED. HIS FEMALES ARE ONE OF THE MOST IMPRESSIVE GROUPS IN OUR PRODUCTION HERD CURRENTLY. THE NOW TEN-YEAR-OLD KEEPSAKE COW WAS PURCHASED FROM TRAVIS HERTER IN 2021, SLATED TO ENTER OUR FLUSH PROGRAM IMMEDIATELY. STILL AT HER AGE, SHE BOASTS AN IMPECCABLE UDDER AND A PERFECT FOOT, ON TOP OF HER NATURAL ABILITY TO PRODUCE DIVERSIFIED PROGENY THAT DISTANCE THEMSELVES WITH THEIR SHEER QUALITY, GROWTH AND APPEAL. MATED TO THE BIG TIME POWERHOUSE AMERICAN RFS HEAVY HITTER H45 WHO WAS PURCHASED FOR $130 000 USD, THIS FLUSH WAS UNDOUBTEDLY A CROSS THAT IS BOUND TO PRODUCE CATTLE THAT THE INDUSTRY SEEKS. UPON THE ARRIVAL OF THE 19 FULL SIBLINGS, OUR HIGH HOPES WERE BEYOND SATISFIED. WITHIN TWO MONTHS, WE KNEW WE HAD AN EXCEPTIONAL SET OF YOUNG CATTLE IN OUR HANDS. WITH TIME, THE GROUP JUST GOT BETTER AND BETTER. IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT IT IS HARD TO FIND A MATING THAT PRODUCES FEMALES AND MALES WITH EQUAL QUALITY, THIS FLUSH DID JUST THAT. THESE 8 BULLS HAVE BEEN AT THE TOP OF THE PEN SINCE THE BEGINNING, AND THAT’S WHERE THEY WILL CONTINUE TO STAY. THIS SET OF 8 ARE DEEP-SIDED, HEAVY-MUSCLED, AND THE EASY-DOING TYPE. BULLS WITH A TON OF APPEAL BETWEEN THE DISTINCT WHITE MARKINGS AND THEIR NATURAL ABILITY TO MOVE WITH FLUIDITY AND GRACE. IT HAS BEEN A LARGE DEBATE FOR MONTHS AS TO WHICH IS THE BEST BY THE ENTIRE FAMILY. THE FEMALES HAVE ALREADY PROVEN THEIR POTENTIAL WITH THE FIRST TWO TO SELL AT THE 2023 BORDER CITY SALE, AVERAGING $22,500 TO RANCIER FARMS AND CANADIAN DONORS. THERE ARE 7 FEMALES CURRENTLY SITTING IN OUR REPLACEMENT PEN, UNQUESTIONABLY FUTURE DONORS IN THE MAKING. WE ARE EXTREMELY FOND OF THIS GROUP AS A WHOLE AND PROUD TO OFFER THESE 8 SONS WITH FULL CONFIDENCE IN THE ENTIRE SET TO EXCEED IN WHAT THEY WERE BRED TO DO.

Another super strong, big bodied Heavy Hitter son showing heavy muscling and large testicle size in this early December picture. He was mothered by a fancy, deep bodied Madoc sired female. All the females with the Keepsake dam in their pedigree are incredibly good and we are excited to move forward with these genetics. Here is a stylish bull full of performance with deep

As you can tell in this November picture his guy has a lot going for him. He certainly has adequate muscling and good testicle size at this stage of his development. This is the only Black Next Century son we have this year and we really like him. His dam has raised top end progeny for breeders at Black Gold Simmentals, Pernitsky Farms, Robert Ellingson and a stunning daughter was purchased by Silver Lake Farms at the Border City sale in December 2022. We have a strong daughter working in the herd, check out her Lot 42 son. Both mother and daughter have good fertility, always calved and due again in January. Here is another deeply structured solid black bull. Through and through these Accolade sons bring lots to the table. Pictured here in early December, he exhibits good length of spine, is structurally correct from front to back and carries adequate muscle for this stage in his development. He also had good testicle size when measured in early December. His dam is a Harker’s Icon, known for impeccable udders, and she is bred for early January to our exciting new herd sire IPU 30-06. We have a very solid group of Connected sons on offer for you this year, some that have toured our black bull pen say they are down-right awesome! Crossroad Connected sold at our 2020 sale for $100,000 and is widely used by breeders with many sons and daughters fetching top dollar. Here is a super stylish son pictured in November that is showing his natural muscling potential from front to back. He is solid black, great haired, good footed, sound structured bull with above average EPD’s. His transplant American Red/Code Red dam is one of several sisters we have working in the herd. Her first calf was a fancy Flash son that was purchased at last year’s sale by Ashworth Farm & Ranch for $22,000. A lot of promise here, this Black Cadillac is a good one and is sure to draw a lot of attention on sale day. Homo polled by pedigree. ~ Homo Polled ~ Hetero Black ~
We have seven Connected sons for you this year, all equally good. This one is a sharp looking black blaze that is one

Excellent testicle size when we measured in early December too. On the dams side he’s had half-brothers that sold for $14,000 to Rust Mountain and $7,000 to Moore Ranch. On both sides of Crossover’s pedigree there has been great success for commercial and purebred breeders. Here is a bull sure to give you perfect udders and longevity with his females. This is our first set of Chrome calves; besides these blacks we have two good sons in the red section, Lots 19 & 20. This cross certainly worked well with this fella’s dam and for being a first calver she sure brought home a heavy weight bull in the fall that would compare to what a lot of cows wean calves at. She is due again for mid-January so excellent fertility and a good future here at Crossroads. 145L is by no means the largest bull in the sale, but he’s one that structurally stands out. Within the moderate frame he expresses, he’s long spined, with great depth to his middle. He’s a bull that by sale time is going to show his destined potential. His Capacity dam is due with her second calf to our exciting new MRL Battlefield that we purchased this past spring. Rizz King is a favourite out in the pen for his quiet demeanor, which made him extremely difficult to picture. He’s full of notable qualities that shouldn’t be overlooked. His Outlook dam is incredibly good uddered and she is without a doubt the fanciest looking cow on the farm. Her first calf sold at last year’s border city sale to Jeff Dobbie in Ontario. This is a very complete full fleck bull that we have all admired since birth. We purchased his fancy dam for $29,500 and we are sure pleased with what she brought along with her, he was born unassisted and up sucking in no time. We purchased his dam with the intention of using her as a donor and she has proved that not only can she raise a good calf but she has given us large numbers of quality embryos on multiple flushes. I can’t tell you much about Playboy’s sire other than he certainly was a stand-out at the Anchor D bull sale and one that we had considered purchasing. As you can see in this early December picture this future herd sire looks exceptional, full of volume and muscling in all the right places.
