We guarantee our bulls to be sound, fertile and reproductive in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Canadian Simmental Association for the first breeding season. Claims must be made by September 1st of year of purchase. If a problem occurs, please contact Herter/Townview immediately and he will provide a suitable replacement, if available, or a sale credit. This guarantee does not cover death, injury or mismanagement. Our goal is to have you satisfied with your Herter/Townview bull. Welcome cattleman to the 2nd Annual Paint Em’ Black Bull Sale. This sale is held in the heart of cattle country in Saskatchewan at the south western corner of the province. The picturesque rolling hills and wide open space is ideal cattle country and the black cattle are dominant within that area. With a large percentage of Angus based females that are seeking a performance based breed to be mated with and optimize on heterosis; black Simmental bulls are the obvious answer. The 28 black Simmental bulls on offer from these 2 progressive programs represent many years of selective breeding. Herter Simmentals established their commercial program in 1979 and since 2003 have been raising purebred Simmentals. Even though they have been in the Simmental circles for 38 years, I have often referred to them as having a herd that is a “diamond in the rough”. They have a high percentage of repeat customers and that is because of their customer service and the great herd that backs their sale bulls each year. The Herter cow herd is truly an impressive group of cows that we have a lot of respect for as they are selected for foot quality, udder strength, maternal traits, longevity and overall production. As we rated many bulls high on our regular visits throughout the year, after seeing their dams it only solidifies our confidence in the future impact they will have for the successful buyers. If you are ever in the Golden Prairie area, we encourage you to stop in and see this impressive cow herd. Townview Farms run a successful commercial program with a select group of purebred females to target their customers needs. The Girodat family has built a strong program in a short time frame that is based around ease of calving, maternal strength and above average production value. You will quickly notice that many of these bulls rank in the top 1% of the Simmental breed for calving ease while still maintaining strong performance data. The strong females that represent this offering are a no-nonsense cow that work for the Girodat’s and no second chances are given; you can be assured the bulls have a productive female behind them. We operate a mixed farm near Kincaid, Saskatchewan, run 650 cows and breed 150 home raised heifers every year. Our cow herd is largely SimAngus based and our herd bull battery consists of Simmental and SimAngus bulls. We have been using Herter Simmental bulls for 10 years and have seen huge improvements in our steer weights and replacement quality. Every year the cattle are getting better. I believe that bulls are 50% of your herd and Herter bulls have made a huge impact on our operation. The cows are on a 50 day breeding program and the heifers are with the bulls for 30 days. We run a tight breeding protocol to ensure a short calving season and high fertility within the herd. Cattle are on a full herd health program and we have a very strict culling program. 7L7 Ranches is located in Fox Valley, Sask. We run 375 Black and BWF cows and breed them to Black Simmental bulls from Herter Simmentals, EDN, Lewis Farms and Ashworth Farms. A lot of our females have been sourced from the “Rock Solid Group”. We wanted to get our weaning weights up without adjusting our calving date, so we bought some black Simm bulls and gave it a try. Well after our first crop we sold the remainder of our Angus bulls and went all in with Black Simmental bulls with excellent results, our weaning weights jumped 50+ lbs to just over 600lbs which is where we wanted to be come fall. We have been keeping our top cut heifers and breeding them to Delorme Black Angus heifer bulls for the last three years. The maternal these girls have in my opinion is second to none, they bring home calves that are sale weight and are ready to ship.
