OUR STORY Bohemia Design, a women-owned ethical lifestyle brand, is the culmination of over 20 years of experience working with artisans and craftspeople around the world. Founded by Jenny Lockton in 2006, Bohemia was established to work collaboratively with artisan producers and support the continuation of awe-inspiring traditional crafts.

From our creative studio in Edinburgh, Scotland, we work in ethical partnership with artisans in Morocco, India, Turkey and Kenya. Alongside the design and production of our own line of products we also source vintage rugs, textiles and unique objects from the Sahara region of Morocco.

With an ethical philosophy based on respect, friendship and dignity, our designs are produced using time honoured techniques and the finest quality materials. By contributing to sustainable, fair paid employment we support the continuation of artisanal skills that have often been passed down through families for generations.

HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN The Earth House Project

The House of the Rising Sun is Bohemia Design founder JennyĘźs largest project to date, and a long held dream. She is about to embark on a wild new adventure to transform a 2 hectare wheat field into an eco-build artistĘźs community.

Working with Moroccan based Italian architects, Trab Design, who specialise in natural earth buildings, the plan incorporates artisan workshops, creative studio space, boutique store, guest accommodation and a family home.

The House of the Rising Sun, with its purpose built workshops and living accommodation, is designed to elevate the value of these age-old traditional crafts and show respect for the highly skilled makers that is justly deserved.

The space will provide a welcome home from home for seekers of a slower pace of life, a community built around art in all its forms nestled amongst the lush abundance of the Moroccan countryside.

MAGIC BUS MOROCCO Ethical + Cultural Tours

Bohemia Founder Jenny Lockton launched Magic Bus Morocco earlier this year in collaboration with Majestic Disorder, an independent arts and culture print magazine, and Mohamed Elaamrani, a Moroccan guide with over a decade of experience.

Magic Bus Morocco offers unique and immersive travel experiences for small groups of visitors who are interested in the beautiful, complex and multi-layered country of Morocco. A chance to meet and make with artisans who continue the skilled crafting traditions passed down through the generations, and to discover some of MoroccoĘźs most hidden gems.

Jenny has been visiting and working in Morocco for over 20 years and has a wealth of knowledge and deep love for the country and its people. In her view it is the people of Morocco that make exploring the country such a magical experience.
