COUNTY LIBRARY & ARTS CENTRE

Category: Cultural - competition

Location: Sf. Gheorghe, CV, Romania

Date: 2020

Partners: singular

Creating a new headquarters for the “Bod Péter” County Library and the Transylvanian Arts Centre is a necessity of Sfântu Gheorghe Municipality, because both of these institutions are currently located in historical buildings, none of which were designed for these programs. Due to recent funding and acquisition of a central lot, the opportunity arose to revitalize this area. The currently abandoned and unusable buildings on the lot will be demolished, a new street on the North side created, to divert the

Based on the research study of this project, a library in the XXI century, needs to be a place where all kinds of local communities can meet, interact while taking part in cultural activities organized by these institutions. The architectural concept consists of positioning the new detached volumes so that they complete the two half open squares and also create a more protected inner square.

EVENT HALL & TOURIST CABIN

Category: Comercial - private

Location: Aita Medie, CV, Romania

Date: 2021

Partners: Kiss Bernadett

Located in the heart of Transylvania region, Aita Medie is a small village with a population of around 2000, without a proper event hall and accommodation for tourists. The main objective of this investment was to harmonically integrate a larger scale building into these rural surroundings that can accommodate events up to 200 people, both private and public, with a few rooms for short stay tourism. The adjoined volumes also serve as an end of perspective from the main road

of the village. They were positioned on the existing front alignment, with the required orientation for each programme. For a seamless integration, the proposed volumes follow the same gable roof system. Both the construction and finishing materials were chosen to be available in the proximity of the village for ecological, esthetical and economical reasons as well. Therefore wood elements support and decorate this establishment, on the inside as well as on the outside.

The terrace house near Coogee beach, has been the home of this family for a few years, and as the children’s number is growing, they whish to expand their home accordingly. While maximizing inner space, they also wish to introduce as much natural light into the narrow plot as possible, hence the project was nicknamed “Icarus“. After surveying and modeling the existing building and its surroundings and

carefully reviewing the local regulation through the LEP and DCP documents, we started from the clients ideas and developed them into various concepts. For both of the final two variations, we used inner courtyards, skylights and voids that connect all levels, to bring natural light even into the smallest rooms of the house, and through these also improve both the inner estethics and overall atmosphere of the spaces.

In the heart of the residential area of Mosman, this undeveloped house was purchased by a young family to turn it into their future home. The aim of this project was to create unique common areas and add new rooms and bathrooms to the existing house which would allow the clients to spend quality time together both indoors and outdoors.

The main challenge was to fit all the required spaces under the height limit while also assuring privacy and natural light into all rooms. My responsabilities also included managing communication between all stakeholders as the project went through NatHers and CDC assesments, which was followed by documentation for the Construction Certificate.
