Through my years of teaching spiritual hypnosis, I have put together a hypnosis process that helps people tap into the wisdom of their Higher Self. Through Higher Self communication people are guided to connect with the Masters, Guides, Angels, and/or Light Beings that can give them some insight and understanding as to the issues they are addressing. Because this work incorporates higher aspects of their being, information comes forth easily. The information channeled is very wise, yet short, concise and easy to understand. One of my friends came to me with a problem related to an unfair court case involving her daughter. She said that before she began the process with me, she feared she would not be able to channel her Higher Self.

that Truth Will Prevail. But Cheryl does not stop there. She continued to ask my Higher Self -- HOW DOES SHE DO THAT? The reply was that I am tightening up my energy around the situation by going over the problem over and over in my thoughts, also that I have a blockage. I got instructions to watch for a sign, and my spirit guides are here with me and I am not listening.

I could feel the presence of several guides. Cheryl continued on - Is there anything else for me to do? The reply was to stay healthy and that they will help me to control my blood pressure. Cheryl asked my guides if they will help me. They said that they will, and that I must be more open to healing. I agreed I would. I felt something dissolving inside of me, and tears rushing down my face. It was also communicated that it is not going to take as long as we think and there may be a solution in the near future.

Cheryl did not stop there, but asked, What is there for my daughter to know and do? With the help of Cheryl’s prodding there were several suggestions about staying strong and seeing this through. The suggestion for us both was to envision peace around the situation instead of controversy. This particular court hearing went our way. I feel the session helped me with my health and my attitude tremendously. I do not believe that the court case went our way because of guides or anything like that, but because the TRUTH PREVAILED as they said it would, which was not the case at the previous hearings.”

A session with another client was very different; she wanted to know about her soul’s purpose. Destination Wholeness Life evolved out of a state of absolute oneness into our current state of great diversity.

Sometimes the diversity feels like chaos, and it is! But it is purposeful chaos, so don’t despair. Our ultimate destination is the experience of wholeness, each individual being whole, and all of life working together in a state of graceful wholeness.

As a planetary healer and ascension worker, I am blessed with an unusual perspective of our world. different work-out machines and routines, and you have come to a point where almost all the potential capacities you need, exist within the huge soul that you are on the higher planes of spirit. Only a small part of that largeness of soul has been living in your body up until now; but as you ascend you increasingly integrate all the capacities of your soul. Because of that, you also increasingly integrate your own Higher Self into your experience. This is the process of ascension, and this increased unity of Higher Self and greater soul potential will ultimately lead you to the experience of wholeness.

Ascension starts with individuals and soul groups, and ultimately will include all people and all life forms on Earth.

Making the shift from the old world contracts to the new contracts is dramatic for all life in physical form. Everything has to find a new place within the scheme of life. Our bodies are literally being upgraded as we live within them to be able to house our Higher Power more fully, and this is happening to all creatures and the planet itself. We are undergoing a healing crisis on Earth, and sometimes it feels like a lightening-up and a blessing. But sometimes it feels like having the flu – everything can feel toxic and awful during some phases. But hang in there, because it will feel better than ever as soon as that clearing is done and we take the next step in ascension. All things are being recreated on a higher level and the old stuff is passing away. We are ascending!

There is an individual focus of wholeness that exists at the core of each person and each creature. I call it the, Inner Wisdom. For people, it is most easily found in the area of our heart chakra in the middle of our chest, and then back toward our spine. There we can access a still place that opens more easily to our Higher Self than most parts of us. Centering on that Inner Wisdom, we can invite it to expand and fill our body and our aura with as much wholeness as we can receive.

If we practice living from this wholeness, it helps it to grow within our lives and we will be able to find it throughout our body and aura. Wholeness is the unity of body and soul with Higher Self. Our lives can be increasingly directed by our higher intelligence as we ascend and learn to pay attention to the core of wholeness we possess within.

What (or Who) is that Orb in my picture!

When I died in 1986, I was met by three bright glowing white orbs - their brilliance was intense, yet the light was not blinding, as if looking into the sun.

They hovered at the top of the ceiling in my hospital room. As I lay lifeless on my bed, the doctors were feverishly trying to revive me, but my soul had already left my body and joined the orbs.

The mysterious orbs then began to transfer a tremendous amount of knowledge to me without speaking a word, yet I received it directly into my being as I too realized I was also a brilliant white glowing orb. (Later my doctor told me he saw my glowing white orb energy re-enter into my body) When I was finally revived, the doctors determined I was dead for at least an hour - as code blue was not called until my nurse went on her rounds and found my lifeless body in my hospital room.

Already cold and blue, the medical team was called and they rushed to my bedside; my core temperature was recorded to be 70 degrees...truly dead.

During my NDE (near death experience) I did not walk into a tunnel, like so many others have described, nor was I greeted by my dead relatives or friends, not even a spiritual figure like Jesus. I only met these three orbs…

Once revived and amongst the living again, I was then placed into ICU recovery where the nurses waited to see if I would stay with the living or move back into death.

The next morning the doctor who worked hard to bring me back to life, asked me a very important question, What had I observed while I was dead? He had seen this sort of thing before and was hoping I would remember my experience.

At times, I believe that the orbs who met me have been following me, keeping me to my promise to help people awaken and become aware that we are spiritual beings experiencing life in order to evolve our souls toward the consciousness of God. I have had people take pictures of me while doing readings

Paranormal and supernatural investigators believe in the idea that angelic energy creates gold and purple orbs.

The colors of orbs have been assigned meanings that have become the accepted within the paranormal and spiritual communities.

I did some research and found that orbs are believed to be the true form of the human soul.

There they were in every picture, along with pictures of the spirits! (I find spirits that are trying to communicate with loved ones, or are earth bound, show as they were in embodied life at times) Rev. Price also told me that she has taken many pictures and learned that the orbs glow in a variety of aura like colors, very much like auras surrounding people in physical life.

Getting Along with Mother Nature Outdoors Are you scrambling to get outside before your inevitable winter hibernation? Before venturing into the great outdoors to play with Mother Nature, you should know some ground rules.

My office is frequently filled with those who offend Mother Nature in the summertime -- so I’ve put together these guidelines so you don’t become one of them!

Respect the sun. Don’t be afraid of being in the sun. Sunshine provides many incredible benefits. Rather than avoiding the sun, learn how to stay safe -- and remember that you’re playing with a really big ball of fire! This means that you must pay attention to how much time is right for you, which usually depends upon your skin type and nutrition. Just keep in mind that the sun’s rays are intense at this time of the year so it’s easy to overdo and get burned.

Be sure to obtain the proper amount of essential free fatty acids through diet and supplements to deposit calcium into the skin from the bloodstream for protection from the sun. However, if you have fair skin or have a history of skin cancer, you may need to use protective clothing and/or safe sunscreens.

Choose your sunscreen wisely. Some sunscreens have potentially dangerous side effects, including ingredients known to cause cancer. Check out the sunscreen research done by the Environmental Working Group (www. ewg.org ) to find the safest sunscreens to use.

Hydrate properly. Be prepared for summertime activities by taking water with you. To calculate the amount of water you need every day, take your

Many people turn to sports drinks and/ or soda pop when they get thirsty. The problem is that most of these drinks are filled with chemicals, artificial flavors, and colors. Although most of the chemicals found in these drinks are dangerous, aspartame is probably the most toxic because of the way it is metabolized in humans. According to toxicology expert Dr. Woody Monte, the damage caused by aspartame to proteins and DNA contributes to many serious diseases and chronic diseases including cancer, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, and MS. Don’t tempt the bugs. The unusual activity of the sun during the last several years along with the summer heat has resulted in more vegetation and an increase in certain bugs. Bugs, like ticks and mosquitoes, live by natural rules, and the rule of nature is to take out the most vulnerable. Stay healthy and you will be less likely to become a meal for the bugs!

Leave artificial fragrances at home.

Another way to dissuade mosquitoes and other biting bugs is to apply coconut oil on your skin. The oil gets on their bodies and breathing apparatus and they can’t function well. However, if you do find a tick on you, try not to panic.

If you try to pull it free, the bug’s head may be left buried in your skin, and you’ve just squeezed the offensive body contents into yourself. Instead, take liquid hand soap and cover the offender with it. The soap will start to suffocate the bug and break down its breathing apparatus which is located in its abdomen or rear-most parts. It is said that ticks must be on you about 24 hours before the bad bacteria of Lyme disease will get in your system. To stay safe, be sure to check yourself, your friends and your pets after each venture into Mother Nature’s wonders.

Here are a few natural first aid treatments for bites: apple cider vinegar or baking soda for insect bites, lemon juice or cider vinegar for a wasp sting, raw onion on animal bites or stings, and salt applied for a rattlesnake bite will buy you time on your way to the doctor.

Be sure to wash all bites thoroughly with soap and water. With some bites, much of the harm comes from the bacteria injected rather than the venom itself.

Heed warning signs of plants. Poison ivy is everywhere this year. Look for the typical 3-leaf arrangement along with root hairs along its stem which some varieties use to climb up most anything.

The oil in the sap is the danger. If you do come into contact with poisonous

plants such as poison oak or sumac, use a drying soap like Fels-Naptha to wash the oil off ASAP. Oftentimes you won’t have a problem if you wash your skin and your clothes as soon as possible. If you do get a dreaded reaction, an old standby is calamine lotion. Keep the oozing away from others and off things that others might unknowingly touch.

How the Simple Act of Being Present Can Change Everything

wife divorced me, my boss fired me, my kids, the government, if only ….” Such thinking makes you a victim of life and declares that you are powerless to change anything. You become a prison of the past and can, therefore, never enjoy the Presents of Presence.

Pat and I recently facilitated our program entitled 28 Days to Presence. It is a daily program designed to bring increasing amounts of Presence into your everyday life.

What astounded us is how so little time and so little effort brought about so much change in the participant’s lives. Let me give you a few examples.

Therefore, the first step is to acknowledge there is a story. Next ask, “What is so valuable to me in holding on to this story that I am willing to deny myself a happier and more abundant life?”

One participant shared how her attitude toward others was less reactive and she found herself being more compassionate.

With excitement and revelation, one woman exclaimed how she finally realized it was all about the ‘story’. Let go of the story and you can be happy.

One man spoke of a passion for living that he had not experienced in quite some time.

Even though none of the participants declared increased prosperity as their goal for the program, 75% of them did so.

One person received six new clients for her small business, another picked up a lucrative project assignment, and yet another an unexpected check for $1,380, and still another a free all-expense paid trip to Iceland. Prosperity comes in many forms.

The gifts of Presence take many forms. But how do we get present?

The answer is simple. We must let go of the hold the past and future have over us. As the participant above said, “We must let go of the stories.” It is these energies that keep us from being present and enjoying our current life experiences.

Stories take thousands of forms but they share the common energy of being in the past or future. The stories repeat in our mind and filter everything we experience, think and believe.

The repetitive power of past thought is like a boulder rolling down a hill. Every tumble is the same thought replaying itself in your mind. It is seemingly impossible to stop, but it is not as hard as it seems.

You must search the mind for the dark corners where these stories reside. Stop giving life to the story. “I hear you Dave, BUT … my uncle molested me, my dad abused me, my

The answer is not as important as the question. The question initiates a movement of energy that heretofore was stagnant. With the energy now moving, breathe the story awake. The breath automatically brings you into the present moment. It also introduces a higher vibrational energy that can uplift the story to where it has less of a hold on you. At the same time while breathing, breathe the story into the heart. Allow love to soften and transform, forgive and set free your spirit. In this state of Presence you are also in a state of allowing. All good things can now come to you with grace and ease, joy and peace.

This very simple prescription works. Few, however, despite the desire for a better life, will even try it. And those that do try it will likely not apply it consistently or give up before transformation occurs. Prayer – A New Yoga

in keeping with this upcoming Age of Aquarius.

My husband, Gary, and I have studied and practiced intensive prayer for over thirty years. We have been regular keynote speakers about the power of prayer and directed intention alongside frontier scientists studying Zero Point Field; this is the underlying matrix that connects everything in the universe, and we ourselves are part of this vast dynamic web of energy exchange.

These leading scientists are now proving what mystics have been saying for decades: that we all have control over our world, a capacity to heal ourselves and our loved ones and, indeed the world.

The missing element from these scientific theories at the present time is that secret elixir of life – the energy called, love. This is not a new thought.

This truth is engraved on the Sphinx; it is in the caves of the Anchorites near Mount Sinai; and, on the great rock near Deir, Petraea, we are told, “The Torch of life is fed by the oil of Love.”

Intentional prayer is the tool that enables us to draw upon the Field – the universal supply of energy – and open ourselves to that great Elixir of God – Love. When we learn to do this, our prayers can become an alchemical force that can heal, transform and uplift.

There is so much talk of a global energy shortage, but we learn from quantum physics and mystics alike that there need never be a shortage of energy. In the words of Lynne McTaggart, “Zero point field…. is a vast inexhaustible energy source all sitting there unobtrusively in the background of the empty space around us, like one all-pervasive, supercharged backdrop.

To give you some idea of the magnitude of that power, the energy in a single cubic yard of 'empty' space is enough to boil all the oceans of the world.”

We have personally found that the more we align ourselves with our spiritual aspects through prayer and other spiritual practices, the more we operate in the realm of the miraculous.

In this rarified place accessible to us all, nothing is impossible. As Marianne Williamson said, “While we are used to looking to all manner of external powers to 'fix' us – from medicine to technology to money, etc. – there is today a resurgence of inner knowing that the powers of the spirit surpass the powers of the world.” [2]

The energy is there waiting for us to call it into action; we just have to learn how to use this inexhaustible supply.

Our Spiritual Master for over twenty five years, Dr. George King[1], taught us how to use this through the yoga of prayer. He also taught that the real energy crisis facing mankind was not so much a shortage of oil or electricity, but an underlying greed, a selfishness, a shortage of people using this great power of the cosmos – love.

In the early 1970s he coined the phrase, The Spiritual Energy Crisis.

One major aspect of his life’s work was to teach us how to help solve this crisis through dynamic spiritual practices. He also invented spiritual technologies that draw upon this inexhaustible energy source, bringing massive amounts of the spiritual energy of love into our world like crystal waters on parched soil.

We have studied many teachers and hundreds of books; we have practiced prayer diligently for years; but most of our knowledge and understanding about the true nature of prayer and how we can use it to full advantage is from Dr. King, who deeply understood the true nature of prayer. As well as helping others through our prayers, we are also helped by every prayer we utter. Prayer, performed effectively, can bring better health, clarity of mind, and more profound creativity and intuition. Living Beyond Cause and Effect Reality If you’re like me, you realize that you create your own reality.

Do you ever wonder why we insist on tying cause and effect together? For every effect there must be a cause (be-cause) and for every cause there must be an effect. Seems like a huge way to create limitation.

What if we could move beyond having the two tied together?

What would it take to move beyond causal reality?

Many people live under the idea that things ‘just happen’ to them, and that creating your reality is just not something that is a part of their reality. What if everything that shows up in your life is something you’ve created?

If something happens to us (an effect), we go looking for the cause. When I was diagnosed with cancer back in 2010, I was operating from a knowing that somehow I had created it.

I knew when and what thought forms created that. That’s not what most people do in this reality. They would look for some other cause such as, “it runs in the family� or “consuming too many toxins� or “way too much stress�.

What if, instead of looking for the cause, we could transcend that notion? I know, easier said than done.

In Access ConsciousnessÂŽ there are some new processes around causal incarcerations. These are basically used to free us from how we incarcerate (jail) ourselves with this notion of cause and effect or causal reality.

There are several verbal processes and a very powerful body process that are used to clear the way for creating beyond the cause and effect reality. There are verbal processes that cover areas for how we create relationships, how we create our lives, working with bi-polar disorders and more.

The body process is used to clear how we lock things into our body and are used to open up for creating a new way of working with this physical reality.

The Silver Thread: RAIN When my clients are trying to understand a mindfulness approach to their problems, they often tell me that in the midst of being anxious, depressed or traumatized, they forget how to be systematically mindful.

Their suffering carries them away, and, like a runaway train, all the tools they have learned are lost. In the face of their complaint, I often provide a type of mnemonic model to invoke a state of calmness and reflection, and ultimately transformation of their mental state.

One popular model for this transformation is RAIN: Recognition, Acceptance, Investigation, and Non-identification.

Recognition: Recognition is the opposite of denial. It is our willingness to face squarely what is happening at that moment.

We must first start with a realistic appraisal of our situation. It may be a clear appraisal of our current circumstance: “Yes, my husband wants a divorce!” “My boss cannot even remember my name!” Or, it may be our internal mental state, “I am angry.”

“I am wounded!”

As people, we have “acceptable” definitions of who we are and how we function. When we have experiences that deviate from that acceptable self-definition, we deny. “I’m not angry!” “I am too valuable, my boss would never let me go.”

Our first task is to be honest with ourselves, to observe, unfiltered, the panoply of our mental states and the reality of our situation.

When I begin working with patients, I stress the necessity of developing an observational mind, a mind that sees clearly, unclouded by emotion or self-image.

Acceptance. We have two states of mind: The reactive mind responds to events with “hedonistic appraisal” meaning that if the event is what we wish it to be, we accept it. But if the event violates our desires, we “react” with states of suffering like anger, sadness or obsession.

The other state of mind is observational. The observational mind processes information and accepts it as it is. For several years, I consulted in rehab facilities. I often had to tell family members that a relative had dementia or that they might soon die. Some friends and relatives responded with denial and afflictive emotions. They cried, got angry or targeted me as a mistaken. Others processed the information and then mobilized their resources to meet the situation with calmness, clarity and effective problem solving.

Accepting things as they are does not mean we cannot

change them, but simply that this is the way things are at the current time. It mobilizes our courage to face the world as it is, and find workable solutions within the framework of reality.

Investigation. This involves gaining a deeper understanding of what we are experiencing. We experience events through bodily sensations, through feelings, and through thoughts or narrative. Rather than react to situations, the mindful approach emphasizes deepening our understanding of what we are experiencing. We go inward and explore. Rather than react to a situation, we move inward and observe our bodily sensations, our feelings and thoughts. Such observation is like a tranquilizer for the mind. Observation mitigates affect or feelings, and thus allows us to go inward and see what is happening. Through observation we do not project our feelings onto others, we do not get lost by obsessing, or flooded by emotion; we do not repress. Observation deepens our understanding and enables us to ride out the emotion. We learn about ourselves rather than misusing the same energy to impart suffering. On others or ourselves.

Non-identification. Identification occurs when we hold on to or allow an event to dominate our life. When this occurs, sadness becomes depression; fear becomes anxiety, confusion morphs into delusion. In reality, a feeling lasts less than a minute, unless we become fixed on that feeling. Identification occurs when we fix on the feeling-narrative and we experience that feeling as us. It becomes a permanent part of our personality.

Non-identification occurs when we put distance between us and our feeling through observation, not identification. Through observation we get out of the way and allow the feeling to follow a natural trajectory, of rising, falling, and disappearing.

We allow the feelings to be transient. I call this process the screen-door. Everything passes through the screen door but nothing sticks.

We cannot escape the pain of living, but we can eliminate suffering through non-identification. Through non-identification, we let go and move on to the next experience. This restores the natural vitality and harmony of life.

The Truth about Vitamins Living cells require living food to function well. Just as the food we eat must be unrefined to provide optimum benefit, so too must the nutritional supplements we use be as close to real food as possible. Most food supplements sold are made from either synthetic chemicals or from “isolated” fractions of a whole food. For instance, according to government labeling laws, the legal definition of vitamin C is “ascorbic acid”. In truth, ascorbic acid is a single isolated portion of the whole vitamin C complex. In nature, vitamin C always appears as a combination of substances that include bioflavonoids, rutin, and organically bound copper in the form of the enzyme tyrosinase, the activating portion of the C complex. Bioflavonoids and rutin are synergists that keep blood vessels strong and prevent bruising.

The ascorbic acid protects these functional parts from oxidation. You would not eat a banana peel instead of a banana. Eating high doses of synthetic or fractional vitamin C equates to that.

Synthetic vitamins don’t come from food. For example, Thiamine comes from petroleum or coal tar products which are used to make vitamin B. Eastman Kodak Company supplies almost all supplement companies with synthetic alpha-tocopherol, made from distilled cottonseed oil, to make vitamin E. A large portion of vitamins are synthetic even though they say organic! Did you know that vitamins claiming to be natural only have to be 10% natural to make that claim. While they are the exact molecular formula of the organic nutrient, they contain none of the co-factors required for your body to use them. Your cells are only looking for whole foods, and since these non-nutrients cannot be used in metabolic processes, they are treated as toxins by the body.

“The nutritional industry has turned into a money-grabbing, hustling, lying, cheating scam,” reports Judith DeCava C.C.N., L.N.C. Her research shows that only 3 percent of nutrition companies manufacture their own products. Other companies slap on their private labels which frequently contain incorrect information. A few large drug companies such as Merck and Hoffman-LaRoche produce the synthetic vitamins used in the rest of the nutritional supplements found in stores that sell vitamins.

With natural foods and food concentrate, the body can choose to assimilate its need and excrete what it does not need. In contrast, fractionated and synthetic supplements allow no choice. The body must deal with the chemical in some manner and suffer the consequences of biochemical imbalances and toxic overdose.

How can you tell if your vitamin in synthetic? You can drop it in a glass of water and watch it break down. A natural, soluble vitamin will break down within 10-20 minutes. Artificial vitamins sit on the bottom of the glass, releasing coloring, dyes, or shellac. Another way is to look at the color of your urine. Synthetic vitamins, especially the B complex, make your urine yellow.

GEMSTONE OF THE MONTH: Peridot Characteristics: Peridot (pronounced pair-a-dot) is the birthstone for August, and the gem designated for the 16th wedding anniversary.

This transparent gemstone comes in several color variations ranging from light yellow-green to the bright green of spring grass to olive to brown, and is often used in jewelry.

Because of the way Peridot splits and bends the rays of light passing through it, it has a velvety appearance, a rich glow, and a slightly ‘oily’ luster. The purer green a Peridot is, the higher the value. Any tinges of brown or visible flaws greatly diminish the price.

Most consumers are attracted to the bright lime and olive greens.

Peridot forms deep inside the Earth and is brought to the surface by volcanoes. It is Magnesium/Iron Silicate, and is a variety of the mineral Chrysolite or Olivine. Its chemical formula is given by: (Mg,Fe)2SiO4.

The best-colored Peridot has an iron percentage of less than 15% and includes nickel and chromium as trace elements.

The most unusual olive green gem called, Moldavite, comes from meteorites called pallasites. They are found in the Czech Republic and are believed to have arrived from space in a meteor about 14.8 million years ago. (These extraterrestrial gems are very beautiful and have been set into jewelry.) Because this stone contains crystals of Olivine and has a similar green color, it is often confused with Peridot.

Peridot has also been confused with Emeralds although Peridot, being a more yellow or olive color, is a completely different shade of green than an Emerald. Other green gemstones that may be confused with Peridot are Apatite and Green Garnets.

Origin: It is not clear whether the word Peridot comes from the Arabic word, faridat, which means gem, or if it is derived from the French word, peritot which means, unclear.

Peridot is considered a tonic for the whole body and protects the wearer from negativity. It is associated with stress reduction and relaxation. Egyptians used Peridot to clean and heal the heart.

Gem quality Peridot comes from Zagbargad Island in the Red Sea, Myanmar (formerly known as Burma), Australia, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, China and Hawaii. Today, most of the Peridot supply comes from Arizona. In 1994 a new deposit of Peridot was discovered in Pakistan which produces some of the finest stones; one stone was more than 300 carats!

Christian Teachings & the LGBTQ Community With the spotlight on same-sex marriage and all the implications of this ruling, one of the conversations about sexual orientation that is important to examine is regarding the conventional Christian teaching that a person who engages in non-heterosexual behavior is committing a sin, but that God loves them anyway. The teaching goes that although a person may choose to sin by engaging in non-heterosexual behavior, the church and God/Jesus loves them in spite of this sin and they are still welcome and accepted into the church community as a child of God. Although not all sects of Christianity share this perspective, it is relatively common across many denominations.

One of the problems with this teaching is that it creates an illusion that the church loves and accepts people who identify as LGBTQ. On the contrary, telling people that they are accepted “in spite” of their sexual orientation is, in fact, neither loving nor accepting.

Instead, receiving this message can be psychologically damaging for members of the LGBTQ community. The reason for this is because people are much more likely to become ashamed of their natural sexual orientation – which

is nothing to ever be ashamed of – and believe that a core part of them is unlovable, bad, and deserving of rejection, if the teaching is coming from a source that they rely on and trust.

Based on my experience, most people in church communities who believe and share this message believe that they are offering something positive to people who identify as LGBTQ. I think the reason that these individuals feel like they are being gracious to welcome the LGBTQ community into their churches is because some other churches still teach that non-heterosexual behavior is an “abomination” that deserves punishment. Compared to this message, the “God loves you in spite of your sexual orientation” teaching seems like a vast improvement. However, this may not necessarily be the case.

It can actually be more damaging to hear this message from a church you have felt welcomed into than hearing it from a church that rejects you right from the start. However, this is almost impossible to do if the message is coming from a community you have grown to rely on for a sense of connection and love. This is what often happens in churches that share a message of God’s unconditional love and seemingly welcome everyone with open arms. People who identify as LGBTQ are often pleasantly surprised to hear this message in church and initially feel a sense of relief, safety, and belonging. Over time, these individuals develop a sense of trust in the church community because that institution is meeting some of their most important needs.

Once a person or group of people fulfill some of an individual’s core human needs, they obtain a considerable amount of power and often have a significant influence on how that individual sees him/herself.

This happens because a person’s sense of self is interconnected with those people/ groups with which they are in close relationship. Therefore, it is more psychologically damaging to be told by a church community that you have grown to rely on that a core part of you is a sin, than it is to hear outright that you are a “sinner destined for hell” by another church that has not welcomed you to begin with.

I often see the devastating impact that this message has on individuals in my work as a holistic psychotherapist.

Some people spend years, decades, or longer on a path of healing to transform and release their shame and selfjudgment that was instilled by these teachings.

Considering the influence churches have (due to the core needs they meet for many people), it would be exceptionally healing if all churches started sharing a message about sexual orientation that is consistent with their teachings about God’s unconditional love. By teaching people that all sexual orientations are equally welcomed and celebrated, churches could use their influence to help transform and heal the deeply embedded shame and self-judgment that many people in the LGBTQ community experience.

Our Lives Follow Our Thoughts You know, the more I live, the more I am awake, I experience how my life, my family’s life, my friend’s lives and my client’s lives are like holograms of their thoughts. I am learning, over and over again, how our lives follow our thoughts.

Most of us seem to walk through life asleep. Course in Miracles points out something that really caught my attention... that in the Bible, it mentions that Adam goes to sleep, yet nowhere does it mention that he ever woke up. What if that is part of our purpose? To wake up.

To live life awake and aware?

New hypnosis clients often ask, What and how does hypnosis work? I often give as an example of “hypnosis” an experience most adults have had: that of driving along on a route you often take, only to get there and not remember how you got there! You were “asleep” and on what I call “autopilot.” This is like hypnosis, the conscious mind is “asleep” while the subconscious is always awake and reacts. And this is how most of us live life.... on autopilot. That’s also how accidents happen -- someone falls asleep at

the wheel.... are you asleep at the wheel of your life? Or driving on autopilot?

order to change them. Then, it’s a matter of putting forth some effort to do so.

This subconscious mind holds all your subconscious programmed thoughts, like a biocomputer. And, like any computer, what you put/program in, is what you get out. And, many of those programs were imputed at a young age, a young way of thinking. So, your actions are actually often reactions, as your biocomputer finds the closest program resembling the situation and then “prints” it out resulting in your “reaction” to the situation or “trigger.” Then you are on autopilot.

Sometimes you briefly wake up and realize you do not like the outcome of your automated actions. That’s when you often have a desire to change your behavior and thoughts, yet go right back into your usual or programmed behavior and thoughts. Then, you possibly get down on yourself or are angry at the other person.

You do not have to act on your negative thoughts and behaviors! Once you make the decision to change, you can consciously, mindfully CHOOSE to substitute a positive thought or behavior.

They are, after all, only thoughts and behaviors, and therefore are not who you truly are. They are transitory and can be transformed into ones reflecting our true self, our spiritual self in this plane of existence. You can CHOOSE to create and follow the thoughts you CHOOSE to. And your experience of life will follow those new, positive thoughts.

Of course, it’s the negative reactions and thoughts that we want to change.

The challenge can be catching those thoughts, then reframing them into something positive. Whether it’s a negative thought or a behavior, you must wake up and become mindful of those thoughts in

The next step is to re-habitualize the muscles to work together to create space between the articular surfaces of each weight-bearing joint in the body. Compression in the joints leads to “wear and tear” conditions such as osteo-arthritis and herniated discs. By streamlining the muscles, one can create an internal lift and lightness within the vertebral and hip joints.

Did you ever take a moment to reflect on how amazing it is to coordinate and streamline movement with the spine? How many individual bones join and work together to move, to walk upright, to dance, sit, garden or carry a child?

As babies stumbling around exploring our bodies, we are not given an owner’s manual for the best way to develop, orchestrate and maintain our muscles and bones. We learn by trial and error, and over time we fall into deeply ingrained habits.

Often, these habits are not the most efficient for alignment or muscle use, and combined with long-term muscular imbalances from repetitively favoring one side such as while playing golf, tennis or an instrument, and in our daily habits--working at a desk or distance driving-- lead to long-term back pain.

The structure of the spine is such that it rests on the pelvis, and thereby its level of comfort and ease is highly affected by every twist, tuck or tip of the pelvis and hip muscles. When the foundation is out of alignment, imbalances in the rest of the structure become more pronounced, moving upward through the spine, shoulders and head. In correctional alignment and yoga therapies, we first address the balance of the hip muscles by allowing them to release and realign.

We all hold life’s tensions somewhere in our bodies, and when the tension settles in the hips, aggressive tugging and stretching can backfire, tightening the hips further. The best way to alleviate strain is to slowly soften and release, methodically and mindfully, with a focus on the breath. Throughout

Studies have shown that the number one most important tool to overcome back pain is to gain conscious control of the paraspinal muscles, which lift and support the vertebrae, maintaining this alignment through twisting and upright postures.

Learning to work the core isometrically is key to maintaining structural alignment and strength without tension. An inner lift encourages balance lightness on our feet. Grilled Vegetables in a Miso Garlic Marinade 1 lb. asparagus (cut in long pieces) 2 onions (cut in chunks) 1 yellow summer squash (cut in flat pieces) 4 oz. mushrooms (cut in half) 1 small head radicchio (in the lettuce family, red in color) (cut in chunks) Marinade: 1/4 cup olive oil 2 T. dark miso 1/4 cup brown rice syrup 12 garlic cloves (minced) 1 T. fresh grated turmeric (1 tsp, dried) 2 tsp, basil 1/2 tsp, cumin 1/2 tsp, paprika 1/2 tsp. sea salt

The whole garlic is called, bulb. The little individual pieces are called, cloves.

When buying garlic, look for the bulbs to be firm, and when you see green growing out of the top, that means the garlic is old. The best way to store garlic is on your countertop, not refrigerated.

To get the skin off the garlic, place a clove on your cutting board. Put your large, vegetable cutting knife flat over the top, and bang down on the knife.

This cracks the clove and the skin will come right off!

Put vegetables in a large shallow dish.

In a bowl, whisk together the marinade ingredients. Pour the marinade over the vegetables. Let sit anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours. Heat a grill, or skillet if cooking inside. Place the vegetables on the hot surface. Cook until browned. Try not to over-crowd the grill, so each vegetable has the opportunity to cook. I usually grill on a cast iron skillet, so vegetables do not fall through the grill. If you grill them on a skillet, you can add a little marinade as you cook the vegetable to add more flavor. If you have marinade left over, you can save it to use another time.

You can also use a wide variety of vegetables in this recipe. Choose your favorites.

Hypnosis Works!

It is unfortunate that many people still do not realize that hypnosis is safe and that it does work. It can be extremely helpful for a wide range of issues. The reality is that many people’s only exposure to hypnosis is having seen a stage hypnosis show or a TV show that depicts it in a negative light.

There is a great deal of misunderstanding about hypnosis.

Let me try to counter a few of the myths surrounding it. To begin with, you are not under the spell of the hypnotist. You are always in control and aware of what is happening. If you were to become uncomfortable, you could easily come out of trance. In addition, you will not do anything that goes against your values or moral beliefs. If you were ever asked to do something like that, you would immediately snap out of trance or else you would simply not respond.

Also, you cannot get stuck in hypnosis. If you were in a hypnotic trance, and something happened to the hypnotist (for example, imagine he or she passed out), you would not remain in trance for an indefinite period of time. After a few minutes you would realize that no one was talking and you would simply open your eyes and come out of trance.

Hypnosis is much safer than you probably realize.

Basically, with hypnosis you are in a very relaxed state and your subconscious mind is much more receptive to the positive affirmations and suggestions that are given. Again, you are always in control, and it is up to you whether you want to make the change. If you do not want to change, it will not happen.

There are now hundreds, if not thousands, of peer reviewed studies that demonstrate that hypnosis is safe and effective in improving people’s lives. Let me mention some of the many ways you could benefit from hypnosis.

Depression: It is time for it to GO!

or depression. It helps me to unwind and find focus. I find that sometimes reading and seeing in the fiction sense of things, how someone overcomes strife, grief, anger, sadness and lack of control; I can find the courage to do so myself.

I want to offer this piece of advice to anyone who is out there suffering at this point in time. You are not alone. Do you hear me? YOU ARE NOT ALONE. There is someone who cares. I do. We all do. It is time to live the life you dream of. It is time to fight for the things that you want most. You can do it. You can have it.

I have enjoyed writing monthly about the topics that have come to me through clients, friends and family. Although this is not a happy topic, I feel encouraged to talk about it in this month’s article; the subject of depression.

Remember that in the path of life we appreciate what we have fought the most for. That life is always changing. You may be down for the moment, but this too shall pass. Stay strong, stay happy and find faith, because I have faith in all of you. Hoping this helps. Much love and light being sent your way!

It has been a common theme amongst the people who are surrounding me lately and I wanted to take this time to write about the subject and hopefully offer some means of starting to help clear this out of one’s life.

Depression can be a state of mind, but it can also affect the physical, spiritual and emotional bodies. It can cause lack of emotion or passion, stripping us of drive or energy and leaving us feeling that we no longer have control or cannot see the way out of any current situation. It in a nutshell, brings us to our knees.

So how do we overcome it? I cannot say from experience that it is easy and that it is a walk in the park, but I can say that it can be done. The first stage of dealing with depression is to recognize that you are indeed depressed. This is a hard thing to do, especially with the current state of most people’s lives, trying to accommodate families, jobs, money, home life and relationships. It can keep us in a state of constant activity without our stopping to really register how we in fact, feel.

My first piece of advice is to stop, take five minutes. Be in those five minutes and ask yourself how you are feeling. This clears the state of any denial and allows you to be mindful and in the moment. If you are recognizing depression, then it is time to move on to the next stage.

I find when trying to clear out depression, the advantage is action. Taking a positive action with a positive result can change a state or frame of mind or emotion. What do you love to do?

Don’t think of something that brings you a small amount of happiness, but something you truly enjoy doing. It gives you peace, makes you happy, gives you purpose. For me, it has always been reading.

I personally find great joy in sitting down with a good book.

You are already whole… already brilliant. You have simply forgotten the truth of your being.

You are a precious soul, unique with all the qualities of Creation, and at the same time, you are immersed in the absolute. You are both individual and universal. When you let the collective unconscious seep into your brain, you come to believe the cultural, family, or societal lies about your limitations. When you are trapped in these beliefs, you further bind yourself by trying to fix what is not broken. You can grow as much (or more) through joy and inspiration as you can through pain and perspiration.

Many times I have heard this frustration spoken in sessions and retreats, “I know all my patterns...I know all my stories...now what!?” This is because we have forgotten that we energetically engage with something when we are trying to figure out. Once you are aware of something, the LESS you do, and the quicker it heals.

We have many strategies or healing methods to choose from… everything from personal growth teachings to books. Each method has its value. But when we are anxiously looking for something to fill us or tell us what is true, we deny the wisdom waiting within. You are your own medicine. Be a student to your own brilliance.

There is a cultural assumption that if we break something into parts we will come into greater understanding (reductionist theory).

Based on Newtonian and mechanistic laws, this approach allows for scientific discoveries such as the functionality of the body. But when applied to the mind and heart, it leads to the feeling of being weighed down with long lists of patterns and neuroses to fix.

When you approach yourself with a desire to change all your perceived imperfections, you discover all sorts of little things to fix. If you keep looking for the next pattern, story or behavior to change, you will never run out of things to work on.

Start from a place of wholeness. God reveals Itself as you. You are already amazing. You are beauty. When you open to feeling August 2015

When you approach self-improvement, religion, and spirituality with a belief that you lack something, they become like illnesses.

Understanding these structures may lead you to what you already have, but they don’t give you anything. Your beginning intent will shape the result, as well as how you feel. When you start from an intent to improve, get closer to God, or become more spiritual, you unintentionally confirm your brokenness. You have It, you are God, and everything about you is spiritual. You are loved as you are. You are love.

Yield to your own brilliance. In the Self-Acceptance Process, we seek to help you to open, let go, and yield to who and what you already are. This is a tremendously different approach than cultural mechanistic ideology or Freudian based psychology.

Perfectionism is the antidote to happiness. Personal growth is the wet blanket to the fire of your Soul. Stop trying to fix yourself and BE yourself.

In sessions and retreats, we raise the energy (chi, Reiki, Holy Spirit, Prana) with a beginning intent of self-love held firmly in the energetic prayer field, and we welcome a gentle yield to our True Essence. The wave of energy that builds from beginning in wholeness and radical self-acceptance brings up whatever needs to come up. This container of self-love allows whatever rises to be alchemized through the raised energy. If someone approaches their growth with a shovel ready to dig (to get to the bottom of things) they will end up...at the bottom.

It is almost traumatic for someone to learn about their patterns, diagnoses, and issues without teachings of their innate innocence.

Psychological labels confirm the illusion of brokenness or sinfulness. Though this approach keeps the system running, it confirms the limited identity as patient, or sinner.

amazing Self. What we call our core block is actually the bridge to our magnificence IF approached from an intent to love all parts of oneself. When we approach ourselves with a need to analyze these parts and apply more mental labels, we end up feeling more fragmented. The power of the Self-Acceptance Process is in its universality and incredible simplicity.

You are here to reveal Creation or God in ONLY the way you can. God is not in everything, God IS everything. It is human arrogance to deny our divinity. Letting go to our wholeness requires releasing our grip on all our limited self-identities (gender, religion, diagnosis, occupation, etc.) and this is why self-love is very scary to us. Self-love takes a warrior’s heart.

What is called weak in the general cultural consciousness is actually powerful. A willingness to know your own divinity requires a mental surrender of what is known. You know your cultural and selfimposed labels; the unknown is your greatness.
