Antibody Enzyme Conjugate

Antibody-Enzyme Conjugate Some studies show that various enzymes can be attached to antibodies and proteins using different coupling chemistries, among which the most common enzymes are horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and alkaline phosphatase (AP). Antibody-enzyme conjugates are the most extensive application of antibody conjugation. The conjugation of enzymes to antibodies is the formation of a stable, covalent linkage between an antigen-specific monoclonal or polyclonal antibody and enzyme. Antibody-enzyme conjugate can keep all the immunoreactivity and enzyme activity of its components. In this system, antibodies are used as carriers for enzymes to tumor cell surfaces, and the various abilities of enzymes are chosen to convert relatively noncytotoxic drug precursors (pro-drugs) into active anticancer drugs. The application area of antibody-enzyme conjugate includes Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), Blotting techniques, In situ hybridization, Cytochemistry and Histochemistry detection system. Antibody-enzyme conjugation has been designed as a new approach for disease therapy, especially for cancer therapy.
