Dear Premier Club Member, One of the best visual metaphors I’ve witnessed was offered up by a lecturer attempting to provide an understanding of time management. He started by putting good sized rocks into a clear cylinder and asked the audience if it was full. As the rocks went to the rim, the answer was a resounding “yes.” He then pulled out smaller sized rocks and poured them into the cylinder, again, up to the rim. The audience was asked if it was full and the room resonated with another “yes.” He then pulled out a bag of sand and poured that into the cylinder while asking once again if it was full. Albeit tentative, the answer was “yes,” having been duped a couple of times. He then pulled out a pitcher of water and poured it into the cylinder. With the end of the calendar year in sight, the Resort & Club is pouring the proverbial water into the cylinder. The $35M renovation of the historic Cloister building is coming to a close, the health club at the main hotel is due to reopen before Thanksgiving, Flow House™ featuring the FlowRider® opens on Thanksgiving weekend, the Club’s software conversion is being completed, Geoff Carey has yet to hit 90 days as the director of club operations, Howard Goldberg begins his tenure at the Country Club as its new general manager, the Resort & Club is the host hotel of the inaugural Boca Bowl at FAU and let us not forget, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year’s. Add the new membership cards, the new decals and the new gate access protocol and one might think the water is pouring over the rim of the cylinder; but it is not. In my years, I’ve never served a greater team as they work tirelessly to provide Premier members and hotel guests with memorable experiences every day while working to continuously improve or rather, pour more water into the cylinder. In this month where we give thanks, I give thanks to them and recognize their love for you, each other and the work that they do. Have a wonderful start to the holiday season.

Kumamoto Oysters are prized for their sweet buttery flavor – some say they can even taste a hint of cucumber. Originally from Kumamoto City, Japan, you can now find this delicacy in Northern California. More importantly, you can find them at Morimoto, where they are served with a trio sauces and toppings: Morimoto’s flavorful salsa with chives, ceviche sauce with cilantro and a citrus ponzu sauce made with jalapeno. Enjoy this seasonal favorite while you can!

EL is now Enlightened LIFESTYLE …the preventive pathway to better living

Premier members can take steps to preventing chronic illness while improving strength, mobility and energy levels by engaging in the offerings of the Resort & Club’s Enlightened Lifestyle initiative. Today’s medical journals constantly report that chronic illness can be delayed or avoided by a lifestyle involving disciplined diet and exercise. An Enlightened Lifestyle offers two paths to accomplish your lifestyle improvement objectives. The Pathway is initiated by the physicians at EL Medicine (located in the spa corridor) who conduct the testing and then draft a Lifestyle Prescription. After an extensive consultation with the physicians, the Pathway continues under the guidance of a trained and certified wellness advisor. There are 2 options for the Pathway: •BASIC. The physicians conduct a litany of tests including a cardiovascular fitness measurement (VO2 Max test) while calculating body mass index. Single: $275/Couple: $500. The price includes 3 months of complimentary services from the wellness advisor. •ADVANCED. The physicians conduct the BASIC diagnostics along with a nutritional review, disease-risk blood testing and neuro-motor evaluations. Single: $599/Couple: $999. (Contact EL Medicine at 561-362-0724 or elmedicine.com for testing details). The price includes 3 months of complimentary services from the wellness advisor. An Enlightened Lifestyle can also occur by taking advantage of the Resort & Club’s many health, wellness and prevention offerings (continue to check Boca Club Life and the Tuesday e-blasts for dates and times): o Educational sessions o Healthy cooking demonstrations o Stress management consultations o Personal training consultations by certified trainers Saturday, November 15 • 6:30-7:30 pm o Nutritional consultation by a certified nutritionist If you are attending the ‘90s LOBSTERBASH o Chiropractic consultation and sessions at the featuring CRYSTAL WATERS – Wenzel Center for Chiropractic

Co m i n g D e ce m b e r 1!

Waldorf Astoria Spa to Offer ESPA Services and Products ESPA combines health and beauty, the mind and body, the natural and the scientific. By integrating traditional therapeutic treatments with a world of luxury and beauty, ESPA is able to dazzle the senses and de-stress body and mind. Scent is crucial. Textures are sensuous. Results are powerful. Make plans now to enjoy one of these new ESPA services: OPTIMAL RELEASE (Body) A Thai-inspired massage that uses invigorating free-flowing movements to promote stretching, joint mobility and flexibility AMA RELEASING ABYHANGA (Mind) A unique treatment that provides a renewed sense of wellbeing and sense of calm for those experiencing high levels of stress or poor sleep patterns SHIRODHARA (Spirit) A form of Ayurveda therapy that involves gently pouring liquids over the forehead to enhance relaxation

From the Desk of Cindi Moreno Spa Director When I began my career 16 years ago, a visit to the spa was a sensory experience, one that I remember being cloaked in the calming scents of lavender, rose and ylang ylang. At some point, modern spas shifted to a results-driven philosophy. Everyone was rushing – to offer peels and laser treatments and to get busy clients in and out the door. I have missed what made me love spas in the first place – the total experience. By introducing ESPA to Waldorf Astoria Spa, we are bringing natural scent, touch and that experience back to the discerning spa guest. Yours glowingly, Cindi
