Dear Premier Club Members, Happy Independence Day to all! And a special thank you to those of you who will be celebrating with family and friends at our Stars & Stripes BBQ. Summer is officially on, so it’s time for another generation of member children to experience seasonal fun at the kids’ Quest Club. With several summer camp options – Quest, golf, tennis, field trips — plus complimentary drop-off at the Beach Club, parents can take advantage of much-needed opportunities to entertain clients, exercise, or just relax! I’d like to introduce the new members of our Activities & Entertainment Team: Emily Holtby, the new Youth Program Manager, and Taylor Krijgsman, the new Assistant Director of Activities. Both Emily and Taylor have several years of experience with Disney Parks and both possess cruise ship experience — Emily at Norwegian and Taylor with Holland America. Alongside Director of Entertainment Robert Vazquez, they’ll bring their energy and creativity to preparations for the Fall Winter 2016/17 season – which is sure to break attendance records yet again! Thomas Thornton, General Manager Thomas began his career in the restaurant industry working as a cook in Maine. After graduating from the University of Maine with a degree in business management, he headed south, arriving in Palm Beach County, where he worked as a general manager for Moe’s Southwest Grille. In 2014, he joined the team at the Resort & Club, serving first as the assistant general manager of 501 East, then as general manager of Palm Court’s breakfast operations, before being promoted to general manager of Shaka Bar & Grill. Thomas is passionate, not only about food service but also about children. Despite his busy schedule, he finds time for teaching and coaching local kids. Alicia Etter, Supervisor Ten years ago, Alicia took a job bartending while she was attending the University of Tennessee. Soon after, she changed her major, graduating in 2008 with degrees in culinary arts and restaurant management. She put her education to work at MeadowView Marriott Conference Center and Resort in Kingsport, Tenn., where she worked a variety of culinary positions before being promoted to kitchen supervisor. In March, she made the move to Florida and joined the team at the Resort & Club as supervisor at Shaka Bar & Grill.

Bobby Bernstein Takes the Reins at the Academy We are pleased to announce that Bobby Bernstein is the new director of the High Performance Tennis Academy at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. “The Boca Raton Resort & Club provides an ideal environment for world-class training,” Bobby says. “Everything from the facilities to the support staff is the best. This really is the kind of place where dreams of a competitive Division I college or professional career take root.” Bobby speaks from experience. He has been with the academy since 2012. Before that, he was with the United States Tennis Association, where he served as the administrator of the Coaches Commission and was also involved in coaching education. As a USTA national coach, Bobby has worked with many of the top young Americans in the player development program – including Andy Roddick. He also spearheaded a major filming initiative for USTA, recording and analyzing the strokes of dozens of world-class players and sharing the results with players and coaches across the country.
