Dear Premier Club Member, Even with the warmer temperatures enveloping South Florida, one can already feel the effects of fall. Our kids will return to school in the second week of the month, football begins to dominate the sports channels and the Resort & Club maps out the coming membership year. With the October 1 membership year date on the horizon, your renewal package will be sent out electronically and via the USPS. Geoff Carey, director of club operations, and his team in member services have set out to make this year’s renewal as easy as possible. Should there be no changes to what you have today, you need not do anything except remit payment if you choose to pay the dues at once. If you wish to change something on your membership, such as adding golf which for 2016 is one fee for access to all golf courses, there’s a link on the electronic renewal form to make those changes. We continue to try and make all aspects of using the Resort & Club easy for you and your families so you can focus on enjoying your Boca Resort lifestyle. Inasmuch as the survey we sent out in June has received an expected amount of responses, we will continue to push for continued feedback to ensure the Resort & Club stays on your preferred course. A lot was learned from those results; primarily confirmation that the diverse membership wants it all when considering dining, entertainment, sports and holiday events. We’ll continue to adapt to this diversity in the Resort & Club’s programming beginning with the repurposed card room/social room in the main hotel which will now host dinner dances and happy hours exclusively for members along with its daily card playing, lectures and other events. These programs are highlighted in the Renewal Guide but note this doesn’t mean that we’ve thought of everything; we still want your comments. Fall is in the air which means winter is around the corner. The seasonal members will return shortly and before too long, the holidays will be here. It seems as I get older, somewhere 60 seconds became 45 seconds and a month became 20 days. I don’t want to wish time away, but I confess I’m as excited as ever for the fall and 2016. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any thoughts, comments or questions as to what you receive for the 2016 membership year.

How Young Do You Want To Be? You can reset your own biological age.

How much time you add to your life and what kind of time you enjoy depends on two factors: 1. Your age when you begin to take control of your own health and your own life. 2.How far you’re willing to go to implement changes in your life.

By Robert D. Willix, Jr. MD Enlightened Living Medicine

Your Age

How long you live and the quality of life you enjoy depends, to a great extent, on how old or young you are when you begin to take control of your health. That's just common sense. As much as I'd like to believe that there is a program out there that will guarantee 120 years of life to everybody, that's not the case. A 70-year-old with a history of heart disease who follows my program cannot expect the same results as a 30-year-old athlete who implements the seven steps. The 70-year-old will, however, add years to his or her life. Just as important, he or she will feel better and stronger and will have less pain and more vitality. Think of the 30-year-old and 70-year-old as two automobiles. One is a two-year-old sports model with 10,000 miles on the odometer. The other is a classic with 100,000 miles under its belt. The first car shows just a few signs of wear, while the second may rattle a bit, have bald tires and need shocks. Would a program of regular preventative maintenance and repair benefit both autos? You bet it would! But, if the first car started its program in near new condition, it might be expected to continue running in good shape for years to come. The second car's results might not be so striking, but it would be reasonable to expect it to run in much better shape for many more miles than would have been the case without regular upkeep and maintenance. The simple fact is that my program is, in some important ways, exactly like a repair and maintenance program for an automobile.

How far are you willing to go to implement change? Putting high-test gasoline in the tank isn’t going to do much good if your car’s spark plugs are dirty. Likewise, eating a diet rich in cancer-fighting nutrients while you're smoking a pack of cigarettes a day will also have limited benefits. Maintaining an automobile in optimum condition requires discipline and effort, so does staying healthy and living longer. You are the one who will determine, to a huge extent, how long you will live. You may also determine the quality of your life – how much freedom from pain you will have; how active and alert you'll be at age 40, 50, 90 and beyond; how much sex you'll be able to enjoy now and later; and how much vitality you'll be able to bring to all of your activities. If a longer, healthier life – a life that finds you still healthy at 100 – is your goal, the time to start working toward it is today, no matter what your age. The important thing to remember is that it is never too late or too early to begin putting my program to work. You'll start to reap the benefits almost immediately and will truly add years to your life, whether you are an out of shape 65-year-old or a 23-year-old athlete.

Kids Menu Now Available at Shaka

After working up an appetite on the FlowRider®, bring the kids to Shaka, where a new children’s menu offers choices such as Grilled Chicken or Fish Tacos, Hang Ten Chicken Tenders, a Sabrett’s All Beef Kosher Hot Dog and more. In addition to crinkle-cut fries, the Shaka Kids Menu also features an assortment of fresh-air sides, including corn on the cob, crisp vegetable sticks, watermelon wedge, fresh fruit and side salad. A panel of children and mothers helped the Resort & Club’s chefs develop the menu. “The kids lent great perspective on the food and presentations – what they thought was fun and what they wouldn’t eat. The moms weighed in on portion sizes and nutritional value,” Executive Chef/Restaurants Kevin Ives said. “We took lots of notes and streamlined the menu to create something we are really proud of and think will be exciting for the families visiting Shaka.”
