on è un caso se la loro nuova agenzia creativa e fotografica si chiama Blue Passion (www.bluepassion.it). Francesco Rastrelli e Roberta Roccati vivono di mare e di passione. Una storia professionale e umana che sembra fatta per essere raccontata.

“Lui”, dice lei, parafrasando Blade Runner “vede attraverso l’obbiettivo cose che noi umani non possiamo nemmeno immaginare”, “Lei”, dice lui, “Mi ha insegnato a guardare le cose con un tocco di femminilità, eleganza, senso pratico, organizzazione”. Innamorati del mare, del viaggio, della fotografia o più semplicemente innamorati l’uno dell’altra e della loro vita insieme.

Lui sorrentino (classe 1964), scavezzacollo, un passato da art director, prima a Londra e poi a Milano, arriva alla fotografia dalla subacquea. Le sue immagini di pesci e coralli vincono concorsi, si pubblicano nei libri e sui giornali. Emerge in superficie

t is no coincidence that their new creative and photo agency is called Blue Passion (www.blue-passion.it) as Francesco Rastrelli and Roberta Roccati live for the sea and passion. A professional and human story that seems to be made to be told.

“He,” she says, paraphrasing Blade Runner “sees things through the lens things that we humans cannot even imagine.” “She,” he says, “taught me to look at things with a touch of femininity, elegance, practical sense and organization.” In love with the sea, travelling, photography or more simply in love with one another and their life together.

He comes from Sorrento (he was born in 1964), a daredevil, with a past as an art director, first in London and then Milan, and came to photography from deep sea diving. His pictures of fish and corals won competitions and were published in books and magazines. He surfaced to work on fishing (the harpooning of tuna fish in

per occuparsi di pesca (la mattanza dei tonni a Favignana e la pesca al pesce spada nello stretto di Messina), di un gozzo sorrentino, Pianosa (Arte Navale n.20) e di una splendida “vecchia signora” che aveva appena iniziato un refitting a Viareggio, Lulworth (Arte Navale n.35). Sono queste le foto che dal 2005 gli aprono le porte, le pagine e le copertine di Arte Navale di cui da allora è collaboratore insostituibile. “È stata una evoluzione inevitabile. Dalla foto subacquea al reportage. Da quello di meraviglioso che il mare nasconde ai gioielli che vi navigano sopra, ai mestieri antichi che vi si praticano, alle storie che gli uomini gli tessono intorno”, racconta Francesco. Anche quando parla è un fiume in piena, con un entusiasmo che tutto travolge. Ha al suo attivo oltre 100 copertine nei magazine patinati di tutta Europa e del mondo. Gli armatori delle

Favignana and the swordfish catch in the straits of Messina), a “gozzo” boat from Sorrento, Pianosa (Arte Navale no. 20) and a splendid “old lady” that had just started a refitting in Viareggio, Lulworth (Arte Navale no. 35). These are the photos that since 2005 have opened the doors, pages and covers of Arte Navale for him, since then becoming an irreplaceable contributor to the magazine.

“It was an inevitable evolution. From deep sea photos to reportages. From the marvels that the sea conceals to the gems that sail on it, to the ancient trades that are practiced at sea and the stories that men weave around it,” says Francesco. Even when he speaks he is like a river in flood, with an enthusiasm that carries everything away with it.

His photos have appeared on more than 100 covers of glossy magazines throughout Europe and the world. The owners of the

più belle “Signore del mare” se lo contendono da Lulworth a Eilean, da La Spina, a Orianda. “Non è un caso che sia diventato il fotografo delle barche d’epoca, dei loro raduni e dei cantieri dove vengono curate con amore. Sono barche che raccontano storie e per me la fotografia è storia per immagini”, si svela Francesco. “Certo molto lo devo a un occhio allenato e a una certa predisposizione per la composizione grafica. Ma quello che per me fa una bella foto è la storia che ci sta dietro”. Lo trovi appeso a 50 metri d’altezza sugli alberi degli yacht in regata, in gommone sotto le prue delle motovedette, immerso con i palombari dell’Arsenale e sulle barche

They are boats which tell stories and for me photography is telling a story through pictures,” Francesco reveals. “Of course, I owe a lot to a trained eye and a certain inclination for graphic composition, but what makes a good photo for me is the story behind it.”
