SCHOLARSHIP BOARDWALK

RISE Scholarship

The Boardwalk RISE Scholarship Program is designed to assist our Resident Members and their children to pursue a higher education or accreditation.

Who is eligible?

The Scholarship Program is open to all Resident Members of Boardwalk and their dependent children who have been in good standing for a minimum of three years.

What do the Scholarships consist of?

Scholarships will be awarded to selected applicants entering or attending a trade school, university, or college. Applicants may only be awarded the scholarship on a one-time basis and can apply as follows:

• $500.00 for diploma or trade programs

• $1,000.00 for degree programs

What are the selection guidelines for applying?

The applicant must be pursuing their educational program:

• on a full-time or part-time basis

• obtaining their diploma, trade certification or degree

• the institution must be charging tuition fees

• the institution must be recognized by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, Association of Canadian Community Colleges or Polytechnics Canada

• non-Canadian institutions are eligible if the applicant can demonstrate that the program is not available at a Canadian institute

What is the application process?

Applicants must be registered and accepted into their program. The applicant must:

• Provide a fully completed scholarship application

• Provide a transcript from the educational institute attended for the last year of study (whether high school or post-secondary)

• Provide proof of full-time or part-time registration from the selected educational institute

• Supply a 500-word essay on the topic “How my program of study contributes to building better communities” or “The impact of education on building better communities”

Please be aware that using AI to draft any portion of a submission is strictly prohibited and may result in disqualification

• Provide 2 written references

Applicants must submit all required documents and application by July 7, 2025 to BoardwalkRise@bwalk.com

What are the selection guidelines?

Scholarships are awarded based on the following selection guidelines:

• Academic achievements and grades

• Demonstrated community engagement

• Essay

What is the selection process?

All application forms and associated paperwork will be distributed to a selection committee to ensure an unbiased process, the Applicants’ names will be removed from the distributed material and assigned a reference number.

Applicants are rated using a standard rating system based on the selection guidelines defined above.

Scholarships will be awarded based on the Committee’s discretion. The selection process will be completed no later than July 31, 2025. All applications will be considered; however, only those selected will be contacted.
