A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Use WhatsApp Messenger

A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE ON HOW TO USE WHATSAPP MESSENGER Check to confirm WhatsApp is on your Boardwalk device.

If you don’t see the WhatsApp icon on your device, please download and install the app The app can be downloaded free.

WhatsApp is available from all popular app stores for all the major platforms including iOS, Android, Windows Phone and also Mac and PC. Just install and launch it as you would any other app on your smartphone.

Click on the WhatsApp icon on your device to start the set-up process.

You will be asked a series of questions, which you should affirm as you begin the app setup.

Allow WhatsApp to access your contacts Allow WhatsApp to send notifications Agree to app’s terms of service and privacy policies

The app will send you an SMS message to verify your phone number and country code when you type in your phone number.

IF YOU DON’T RECEIVE A CODE? If you have any problems receiving the message you have the option to ask for it to be re-sent or to receive it by phone call.

Set Up Your Boardwalk Account in WhatsApp • Update your name (Boardwalk – Jane Doe) starting with “Boardwalk – “ • Add the Boardwalk logo using this square version:

• If you’ve ever used WhatsApp before, you’ll be asked if you want to restore your chat history. Please answer “no” unless you have only used this same WhatsApp account for Boardwalk business only.

• Once you’re finished punching in your specs, you’re ready to chat

Customize Your Profile Aside from adding the avatar to your name and number, you should also personalize the ‘About’ description.

The default status on your profile is ‘Hey there, I am using WhatsApp.’ Instead, please update your ABOUT message to read the following: Welcome to Boardwalk - Where Love Always Lives

Add New Contacts To view contacts in WhatsApp, you don’t have to do much.

• Tap the chat icon • Tap New Contact • Add the name and phone number of that person • You can invite a new user by scrolling down to the bottom of the window and tapping Invite Friends to WhatsApp, where you can choose to send an email or text message invite • If you are adding an international friend, make sure to do the following

When adding the contact’s phone number to your address book, start with plus sign (+)

Type the country code, a nation-specific numerical prefix, followed by the phone number.

Search online to find the proper country code if you don’t know it.

Change Language Settings • ANDROID: Go to your phone’s Settings

Start Your Chat/Video Chat Chatting is easy. As you start your chat, you will see an alert telling you that your communication is encrypted so that no one will ever be able to view or listen in on your conversation. The prospective resident will get a notification on their phone that you’ve sent them a message.

• Select the person you want to chat with • Tap the chat box at the bottom of the screen • Type in your message and start your video using the icon on the top right of the chat box

PLACING A VIDEO CALL: • Open the chat with the contact you want to video call.

• Tap Video call RECEIVING A VIDEO CALL: • When someone video calls you, you’ll see an incoming WHATSAPP VIDEO CALL screen, where you can: • Swipe up to accept • Swipe up to decline • Swipe up to reply to decline the call with a quick message SWITCHING BETWEEN VIDEO AND VOICE CALLS: • To switch from a video call to a voice call: • While on the video call, tap Video off, which will notify the contact you’re video calling • Once the contact turns their video off, the call will be switched to a voice call.

• To switch from a voice call to a video call: • While on the voice call, tap Video call • The contact you’re voice calling will see a request to switch to a video call and can accept or decline the switch.

Contacts • Save a contact’s name and phone number in your phone’s address book.

• If it’s a local number: Save the number in the same format you would use if you were to call that contact.

• If it’s a foreign number: Save the number in full international format: • + [Country Code] [Full Phone Number].

• Omit any leading 0’s from the phone number

Notifications • Go to WhatsApp tap More options • Tap Notifications • Message Notifications: • Notifications should be turned on • Group Notifications: • Notifications should be turned on

FAQ WHEN TO USE WI-FI VS LTE? If your project has Wi-Fi and you are close to the Access Point then it would be favourable to remain on the Wi-Fi, however if you are navigating the site and there is no Wi-Fi at your destination then it would be preferable to remain on LTE (disable your Wi-Fi) prior to starting your call.

HOW TO DISABLE WI-FI ON YOUR DEVICE If you have an Android device (Samsung or Sonim), drag your finger down from the top of the screen to receive the following menu. Select the first icon to enable and disable your Wi-Fi.
